• Rails exit controller after rendering

  I have an action in my controller that I am having trouble with. This is my first rails app, so I'm not sure of the best practices surrounding rails. I have a model called Group and a few actions that go in it's controller. I have written a test that should cause the controller to render an error in JSON because of an invalid Group ID. Instead of rendering and exiting, it looks like the controller is rendering and continuing to execute. Test test 'should not remove group because of invalid group id' do post(:remove, {'group_id' => '3333'}) response = JSON.parse(@response.body) assert_response :success assert_equal 'Success', response['message'] end Controller action # Post remove # group_id def remove if((@group = Group.find_by_id(params[:group_id])) == nil) render :json => { :message => "group_id not found" } end @group.destroy if(!Group.exists?(@group)) render :json => { :message => "Success" } else render :json => { :errors => @group.errors.full_messages } end end In the controller, the first if statement executes: render :json => { :message => "group_id not found" } but @group.destroy is still being executed. This seems counter-intuitive to me, I would think that the render method should exit the controller. Why is the controller not exiting after render is called? The purpose of this block of code is to recover gracefully when no record can be found with the passed in ID. Is this the correct way of doing something like this?

• Server Unable to Capture the POST Data sent from another server by Redirecting the URL

  Recently i started working on the Payment Gateway( further spelled as 'PG') process for my site. And for the process we have to send the Post data by form to PG server by redirecting to there page and by response from the PG about the Transaction they are sending POST data by redirecting the URL to our server page, the problem arises here, as my server unable to retrieve the POST Data sent from PG server. As i am coding in PHP, i tried to print all the response coming from PG by print_r($_POST); and even tried with print_r($_REQUEST);. I didn't found any data printing except the PHPSESSID and some other data array. As for the confirmation I checked wether they sending the Data or not by the IE addon as "TamperIE" where it is showing the all the POST Data sending from there server. But it is not at all coming to our server. And I tried this process on some other Server, there i able to get the POST response but not with currently working server. So please can you suggest me what might be the problem. Thanks!

• Handling return value from Web Service Call Wrapper

  I created this method below which makes an HTTP call to a 3rd party API. I just want opinions on if I'm handling this the best way. If the call fails, I need to return the ExistsInList bool value only if the response is not null. But in the last return statement, wouldn't I have to essentially do another return selectResponse == null ? false : selectResponse.ExistsInList; to check for null first just like the previous return in the catch? • JQM Nested Popups

  I am having a hard time with the new Alpha release of JQM not showing nested popups. For example, I am displaying a popup form that the user is supposed to fill out, if the server side validation fails, I want to display an error popup. I am finding that the error popup is not being shown.   I am having an intermittent issue that is appearing on one server only, and is causing all MVC pages to fail to load with the error "An item with the same key has already been added." • SSRS Export to Excel not working through VPN (Juniper SA4000)

  We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000.   Sometimes when I call ShowDialog on an OpenFileDialog Window in WPF, the dialog closes immediately with a return value of false. I'm calling ShowDialog in response to a button click event.   I think the default dir gets a trailing slash. But what if the user selects a different directory? Is there a way for the INSTALLDIR to NOT have a trailing slash? It's not that I want it to not have a trailing slash. I want to know if I can count on it, so that, for example, [INSTALLDIR]Filter.dll ...will always resolve to a real, valid filesystem path. Currently I use [INSTALLDIR]\Filter.dll and I get a double-slash in there. It's valid and resolves, but I'd like to eliminate the double slash. thanks.

  I've seen this question asked before, but I've tried various solutions proposed, to no avail. Essentially, I have two EJB enterprise applications, that need to communicate with one another. The first is a web application, the second is a search server - they are located on different development servers, not in the same node, cell, or JVM, although they are on the same physical box. I'm doing the JNDI lookup via IIOP, and the URL I am using is as follows: iiop://searchserver:2819 In my hosts file, I've set searchserver to 127.0.0.1. The ports for my search server are bound to this hostname too. However, when the web app (that uses Spring btw) attempts to lookup the search EJB, it fails with the following error. This is driving me nuts, surely this kind of comms between the servers should be fairly simple to get working. I've checked the ports and they are correct.   I have created a new ActionFilter for an ASP.NET MVC application that I'm creating. I have an action which accepts an Http Post and the argument of the action method accepts an object, for which I have created and registered a custom model binder. I noticed that inside the IActionFilter.OnActionExecuting the value for filterContext.Controller.ViewData.Model is always null despite the fact that it looks like the model binder is always invoked before the action filter OnActionExecuting method.   If you create a Filter object that contains criteria for Linq that normally goes in a where clause like this: var myFilterObject = FilterFactory.GetBlank(); myFilterObject.AddCondition("Salary", "lessThan", "40000"); var myResult = myRepository.GetEmployees(myFilterObject); How would you match the Linq field to the Field Name without using a big case statement? return from e in db.Employee where e.Salary < 40000 select new IList<EmployeeViewModel> { Name= e.name, Salary= e.Salary }; I assume you need to send an object to the Repository that specifies filtering so that you only pull what records you need. I assume Linq doesn't pre-compile (unless you create a customized delegate and function), so you should be able to dynamically specify which fields you want to filter. It would be nice if you could do something like e["Salary"] like some type of Expando Object.

• QGraphicsView and eventFilter

  Hello everyone, This has been bugging me for more than two days now, so i thought i should ask. I am using Qt 4.5.3 (compiled with VC2008) on Win7. I have MyGraphicsView (inherits QGraphicsView) and MyFilter (inherits QObject) classes. When i install the MyFilter object as an event filter to MyGraphicsView, Mouse events are delivered to MyFilter after they are delivered to MyGraphicsView whereas Key events are delivered to MyFilter before they are delivered to MyGraphicsView. In the second case, i install the MyFilter object as an event filter to MyGraphicsView-viewport() (which is a standart QGLWidget), Mouse events are delivered to MyFilter before they are delivered to MyGraphicsView, whereas Key events are delivered to only MyGraphicsView. The events are supposed to be delivered to event filters before they are delivered to the actual object, so why is this happening? What should i do to ensure this order? Thanks in advance.   I am trying to send all my apache logs to syslog-ng(on remote machine) which in turn writes to a file. so I configure syslog-ng this way source s_apache { unix-stream("/var/log/apache_log.socket" max-connections(512) keep-alive(yes)); }; filter f_apache { match("error"); }; destination df_custom { file("/var/log/custom.log"); }; log { source(s_apache); filter(f_apache); destination(df_custom); }; and add the following line to apache2.conf ErrorLog "|/usr/bin/logger -t 'apache' -u /var/log/apache_log.socket" but only logs being written to "/var/log/custom.log" are [Mon Jul 13 17:24:36 2009] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down and [Mon Jul 13 17:26:11 2009] [notice] Apache/2.2.11 (Ubuntu) configured -- resuming normal operations I want all logs to be sent to custom.log..... Please help me.... where am I going wrong?

• Filtering a dropdown in Angular IE11 issue

  I have a requirement for a select html element that can be duplicated multiple times on a page. The options for these select elements all come from a master list. All of the select elements can only show all of the items in the master list that have not been selected in any of the other select elements unless they just were duplicated. So I wrote a custom filter to do this in Angular and it seems to work just fine provided you are not using IE11. In IE when you select a new item from a duplicated select element, it seems to select the option after the one you selected even though the model still has the correct one set. I realize this sounds convoluted, so I created a jFiddle example. Using IE 11 try these steps: Select Bender Click the duplicate link Select Fry Notice that the one that is selected is Leela but the model still has Fry (id:2) as the one selected Now if you do the same thing in Chrome everything works as expected. Can anyone tell me how I might get around this or what I might be doing wrong? • cakePHP paginate with post data without sessions, serialization or post to get

  I have created a small search and filter form method post in controller/index, which posts to it self the conditions and fields to paginate ( $this-paginate($conditions) ) However that is good for the first page, the subsequent pages the filer conditions are lost. pagination passArgs supports get variables well. Is there an un complex way to pass the post conditions to the other paginated pages? The method I have looked at is pass the $conditions in session , which isnt without complexity of assigning session and unset the session on submitting the form again (more refinements to the filter criteria by the user ) The other method is passing the $conditions as serialized string url_encode as an get parameter. Is there an good cake way to do this more like passArgs, sessions and url encode do not look like cake style. Thanks

• Powershell: Setting values of a filtered array

  Hi All I want to read in a csv file, filter it based on the values of two of the fields and set the value of another field. Here's a simple example of what I'm trying to achieve: c:\somefile.csv contents: firstField,secondField,thirdField 1,2,"somevalue" 2,2,"avalue" 3,1,"somevalue" #Import file into array $csv = Import-Csv c:\somefile.csv # Where secondField = 2 and thirdField = "someValue" set thirdField = "anotherValue" $csv | where {$_secondField -eq 2 -and $_.thirdField = "somevalue"} | <set value of thirdField = "anotherValue"> How can I do this. As you can see, from the example about, I can read in and filter the array. But I don't know how to then set the value of the thirdField. I tried set-itemproperty but got the error: "The WriteObject and WriteError methods cannot be called after the pipeline has been closed". Any advice on how to achive this would be appreciated.
