  • TabItems from View collection

    - by byte
I am using MVVM. I have a tab control. I will have a collection of items. I want to display each of this item in the collection as a tab item. The view in each tab item is different and may have its own viewmodel. How do I achieve this? E.g. I have 3 items in the collection. The Tab item template contains an ItemControl. I would like to now have 3 Tabs created and the ItemControls inside each tabitem may be showing different views. One way I could do is have a single view and viewmodel for each item. Now based on some condition the View will display different UI elements and behave differently. But I am afraide this will make the view quite complex over a period of time.

  • RectangleGeometry with relative dimensions... how?

    - by Padu Merloti
I'm trying to replicate the nowadays so fashionable "reflex" effect on a controltemplate for buttons I'm creating. The basic idea is to create a rectangle with a gradient fill from white to transparent and then clip some of that semi-transparent rectangle with a rectanglegeometry. The problem is that I don't know how to define a relative rectangle geometry. I kind of worked around width by defining a large value (1000), but height is a problem. For example, it works good for buttons that have a 200 height, but doesn't do anything for smaller buttons. Any ideas? <Rectangle RadiusX="5" RadiusY="5" StrokeThickness="1" Stroke="Transparent"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,0.55"> <GradientStop Color="#66ffffff" Offset="0.0" /> <GradientStop Color="Transparent" Offset="1.0" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> <Rectangle.Clip> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,1000,60" /> </Rectangle.Clip> </Rectangle>

  • SortDescription with custom attached property

    - by Krimson
Hi, In Xaml I can set a custom attached property using local:TestClass.TestProperty="1" An I can bind to a custom attached property using {Binding Path=(Namespace:[OwnerType].[PropertyName])} {Binding Path=(local:TestClass.TestProperty)} But how do I specify the namespace when I need to use a custom attached property in a SortDescription? I can bind to an attached property using new SortDescription("(Grid.Row)", ListSortDirection.Descending) but here I can't set a namespace anywhere... Best Regards, Jesper

  • Tools\addin's for formating or cleaning up xaml?

    - by cody
I'm guessing these don't exist since I searched around for these but I'm looking for a few tools: 1) A tool that cleans up my xaml so that the properties of elements are consistent through a file. I think enforcing that consistence would make the xaml easier to read. Maybe there could be a hierarchy of what comes first but if not alphabetical might work. Example before: TextBox Name="myTextBox1" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Margin="4" TextBox Grid.Column="1" Margin="4" Name="t2" Grid.Row="3" Example after: TextBox Name="myTextBox1" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Margin="4" TextBox Name="t2" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Margin="4" (note < / has been remove from the above since control seem to have issues parsing whe the after section was added) 2) Along the same lines as above, to increase readability, a tool to align properties, so from the above code example similar props would start in the same place. <TextBox Name="myTextBox1" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Margin="4"/> <TextBox Name="t2" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Margin="4"/> I know VS has default settings for XAML documents so props can be on one line or separate lines so maybe if there was a tool as described in (1) this would not be needed...but it would still be nice if you like your props all on one line. 3) A tool that adds X to the any of the Grid.Row values and Y to any of the Grid.Column values in the selected text. Every time I add a new row\column I have to go manually fix these. From my understanding Expression Blend can help with this but seem excessive to open Blend just to increment some numbers (and just don't grok Blend). Maybe vs2010 with the designer will help but right now I'm on VS08 and Silverlight. Any one know of any tools to help with this? Anyone planning to write something like this...I'm looking at you JetBrains and\or DevExpress. Thanks.

  • Why is generated XAML spitting out namespaces that are not asked for?

    - by Matt Holmes
I have a very simple XAML form, that has one namespace definition. For some reason, when Visual Studio processes that XAML file in to it's component .g.cs, it's sticking a bunch of namespace definitions at the top that I have not asked for in the XAML, or the code behind, and they are namespaces that no longer exist in my project. Thus the project is failing to compile. Why is Visual Studio sticking arbitrary namespace 'using' statements in my generated XAML .g.cs files? It's caused my entire project to break. Not one time did this .xaml file ever reference the namespaces in question, so it's doubly annoying.

  • How to determine pixel color of System.Windows.Controls.Image?

    - by csciguy
I have an Image from (System.Windows.Controls.Image). This image is positioned on a main canvas. I want to determine the alpha channel value of the mouse cursor when I click on any portion of this image. When doing something like the following, I'm getting an exception. {"Value does not fall within the expected range."} System.Exception {System.ArgumentException} Code: try{ CroppedBitmap cb = new CroppedBitmap(ac.displayImage.Source as BitmapSource, new Int32Rect((int)mousePoint.X, (int)mousePoint.Y, 1, 1)); byte[] pixels = new byte[4]; cb.CopyPixels(pixels, 4, 0); } catch (Exception ex) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ex.Message); } The mousePoint.X, and mousePoint.Y are obtained when the user clicks on the main window. Is there a better way to do this?

  • Problem adding Viewport2DVisual3D from Code

    - by Jeff
    I'm trying to add a Viewport2DVisual3D to a Viewport3D in code, but the visual isn't showing up. Any help understanding why not would be appreciated. The following is the code for the main window. Is it sufficient to just add the Viewport2DVisual3D to the children of the Viewport3D in order for it to be rendered? public partial class Window1 : System.Windows.Window { public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); this.Loaded += new RoutedEventHandler(temp); } public void temp(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Viewport2DVisual3D test = new Viewport2DVisual3D(); MeshGeometry3D testGeometry = new MeshGeometry3D(); Vector3D CameraLookDirection = Main_Target_CameraOR20.LookDirection; // Calculate the Positions based on the Camera Point3DCollection myPoint3DCollection = new Point3DCollection(); myPoint3DCollection.Add(new Point3D(-1, 1, 0)); myPoint3DCollection.Add(new Point3D(-1, -1, 0)); myPoint3DCollection.Add(new Point3D(1, -1, 0)); myPoint3DCollection.Add(new Point3D(1, 1, 0)); testGeometry.Positions = myPoint3DCollection; PointCollection myPointCollection = new PointCollection(); myPointCollection.Add(new Point(0, 0)); myPointCollection.Add(new Point(0, 1)); myPointCollection.Add(new Point(1, 1)); myPointCollection.Add(new Point(1, 0)); testGeometry.TextureCoordinates = myPointCollection; Int32Collection triangleIndicesCollection = new Int32Collection(); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(0); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(1); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(2); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(2); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(3); triangleIndicesCollection.Add(0); testGeometry.TriangleIndices = triangleIndicesCollection; DiffuseMaterial myDiffuseMaterial = new DiffuseMaterial(Brushes.White); Viewport2DVisual3D.SetIsVisualHostMaterial(myDiffuseMaterial, true); Transform3DGroup myTransform3DGroup = new Transform3DGroup(); ScaleTransform3D myScaleTransform3D = new ScaleTransform3D(); myScaleTransform3D.ScaleX = 2; myScaleTransform3D.ScaleY = 2; myScaleTransform3D.ScaleZ = 2; TranslateTransform3D myTranslateTransform3D = new TranslateTransform3D(); myTranslateTransform3D.OffsetX = -27; myTranslateTransform3D.OffsetY = 13; myTranslateTransform3D.OffsetZ = 6; RotateTransform3D rotateTransform = new RotateTransform3D() { Rotation = new AxisAngleRotation3D { Angle = -50, Axis = new Vector3D(0, 1, 0) } }; myTransform3DGroup.Children.Add(myTranslateTransform3D); myTransform3DGroup.Children.Add(myScaleTransform3D); myTransform3DGroup.Children.Add(rotateTransform); test.Transform = myTransform3DGroup; Button myButton = new Button(); myButton.Content = "Test Button"; test.Material = myDiffuseMaterial; test.Geometry = testGeometry; test.Visual = myButton; ZAM3DViewport3D.Children.Add(test); } }

  • How can I use a PathGeometry as a mask for a BitmapSource (or any image data)?

    - by Jedidja
    Assuming I have a BitmapSource (actually I have access to the raw pixels as well if necessary), how can I use a PathGeometry as a mask to cut out certain parts of the image? 01234567890123456789 0 -------------------- 1 | + + | 2 | * | 3 | * ) | 4 | * | 5 | ( | 6 -------------------- Assuming I have a PathGeometry that describes a rectangle that goes from (0, 0) to (8, 3), I would like to be able to get one of the following two images: 01234567890123456789 0 -------------------- 1 | + | 2 | * | 3 | | 4 | | 5 | | 6 -------------------- or 012345678 0 --------- 1 | + | 2 | *| 3 ---------

  • How does XAML set readonly CLR properties

    - by Igor Zevaka
I am trying to create an application bar in code for WinPhone7. The XAML that does it goes like this: <PhoneApplicationPage.ApplicationBar> <shellns:ApplicationBar Visible="True" IsMenuEnabled="True"> <shellns:ApplicationBar.Buttons> <shellns:ApplicationBarIconButton IconUri="/images/appbar.feature.search.rest.png" /> </shellns:ApplicationBar.Buttons> </shellns:ApplicationBar> </PhoneApplicationPage.ApplicationBar> So I thought I'd just rewrite it in C#: var appbar = new ApplicationBar(); var buttons = new List<ApplicationBarIconButton>(); buttons.Add(new ApplicationBarIconButton(new Uri("image.png", UrlKind.Relative)); appbar.Buttons = buttons; //error CS0200: Property or indexer 'Microsoft.Phone.Shell.ApplicationBar.Buttons' cannot be assigned to -- it is read only The only problem is that Buttons property does not have a set accessor and is defined like so: public sealed class ApplicationBar { //...Rest of the ApplicationBar class from metadata public IList Buttons { get; } } How come this can be done in XAML and not C#? Is there a special way that the objects are constructed using this syntax? More importantly, how can I recreate this in code?

  • MVVM Listbox DataTemplate SelectedItem

    - by StinkerPeter
I am using a ListBox with a DataTemplate as shown below (xaml simplified and variable names changed). <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=ObservCollectionItems}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=SelectedItemVar, Mode=TwoWay}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding SomeVar}" /> <Border> <StackPanel> <Button Content="String1" Command="{Binding DataContext.Command1} RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, ListBox, 1}}" /> <Button Content="String2" Command="{Binding DataContext.Command2} RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, ListBox, 1}}" /> </StackPanel> </Border> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> I need the SelectedItemVar (dependency property) to update when I click on one of the buttons. SelectedItemVar is then used for the respective button's command. SelectedItemVar does update when I click on the TextBlock or the Border, but not when I click either button. I found a non-MVVM solution to this problem here. I do not want to add code in the file-behind to solve this, as they did in the link. Is there a clean solution that can be done in XAML. Beyond the non-MVVM solutions, I have not found anyone with this problem. I would have thought this was fairly common. Finally, I found this Command="{Binding DataContext.CommandName} RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, ListBox, 1} for the Command binding. I do not fully understand what it is doing, but I do know that the command wasn't firing when I was binding directly to CommandName.

  • Adding events to ScatterViewItems when implicitly creating them

    - by James Hay
Not sure there's too many surface developers on here but hey ho... If i have a scatterview which implicity creates the ScatterViewItem objects (see below), is it possible to retireve the contact events for each scatterViewItem? Also when i wrap tyhe image object in a ScatterViewItem explicitly the item no longer works. Could anyone advise as to why this is the case? <s:ScatterView ItemsSource="{StaticResource DummyData}" > <s:ScatterView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Image Source="{Binding Path=ImagePath}" /> </DataTemplate> </s:ScatterView.ItemTemplate> </s:ScatterView>

  • Path vs GeometryDrawing

    - by Carlo
    Just wondering what's lighter, I'm going to have a control that draws 280 * 4 my SegmentControl, which is a quarter of a circle, and I'm just wondering what's the way that takes least memory to draw said segment. GeometryDrawing: <Image> <Image.Source> <DrawingImage> <DrawingImage.Drawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="LightBlue" Geometry="M24.612317,0.14044853 C24.612317,0.14044853 33.499971,-0.60608719 41,7.0179795 48.37642,14.516393 47.877537,23.404541 47.877537,23.404541 L24.60978,23.401991 z" /> </DrawingImage.Drawing> </DrawingImage> </Image.Source> </Image> Or Path: <Path Fill="LightBlue" Stretch="Fill" Stroke="#FF0DA17D" Data="M24.612317,0.14044853 C24.612317,0.14044853 33.499971,-0.60608719 41,7.0179795 48.37642,14.516393 47.877537,23.404541 47.877537,23.404541 L24.60978,23.401991 z" /> Or if you know of an even better way, it'll be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • ListBox selector odd behavior when there are dupes

    - by byte1918
I'm working on a bigger project atm, but I made this simple example to show you what happens.. using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Windows; namespace txt { public partial class MainWindow { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } private void Window_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var obsLst = new List<Info> { new Info { name = "asd" }, new Info { name = "asd" }, new Info { name = "asd" }, new Info { name = "asd" } }; var temp = new List<Info>(); for (var i = 1; i <= 3; i++) { temp.Add(obsLst[0]); //I add 3 of the same item from obsLst to temp } lst.DataContext = temp; //lst = ListBox } } public class Info { public string name { get; set; } } } The ListBox ItemsSource is set to {Binding}.. When I start the application I get 3 txt.Info objects displayed and if I click any of them, 2 or even all of them get selected aswell. From my understanding the problem relies in the fact that the listbox selector cannot differentiate between the items and therefor doesn't know which one I selected. Here's a picture of what it looks like.. I only clicked on the second txt.Info item. I found a solution where someone said that I have to specify the DisplayMemberPath, but I can't really do that in the other project because I have a datatemplate for the object. Any ideas on how I could fix this would be great.. Thx in advance.

  • Is there a declarative way to force a set of Buttons to be the same size?

    - by Jekke
I'm writing a form in XAML that has multiple buttons with content of different sizes (ie "OK" and "Save As...") Ideally, I'd like them all to be the smallest size possible to hold the largest content. In the example above, both buttons would be the width necessary to hold "Save As..." plus the margins and padding. If they were Grid cells, I could use a SizeGroup. Is there a similar declaration for Buttons?

  • Make a Button Appear Focused When Not

    - by Bret
The Find and Replace dialog in Visual Studio is a perfect example of what im trying to accomplish. Notice how the "Find what" text field has keyboard focus but the "Find Next" button appears bluish as if it has keyboard focus also even though it does not. How can I accomplish this myself? I've tried messing with FocusManager and Focus Scopes without much luck. I suspect i may be barking up the wrong tree? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

  • Get the Grid data in ColumnHeaderClick

    - by plotnick
Sorrry guys, I'm stuck here. I have a few grids, I also have CollectionViewSource objects associated with those grids. Now, I'm trying to apply CollectionViewSource.SortDescriptions in ColumnHeaderClick method, and now I have to define almost the same method for each grid. But the only thing I really need is to obtain in which Grid is happenning. How to get that, I have no idea. Help me please. VisualTreeHelper.GetParent didn't work.

  • Custom Brush - I want two gradients chaining them together.

    - by Logan
I am making a bar chart and I want two separate gradients for each bar. First I want a gradient to go from top to bottom solid red to transparent red. I want to paint over the top of that a gradient that goes from right to left, black to opaque. So - In the bottom left we should have; Bottom left - Alpha 0 Bottom right - Alpha 0 Top left - Alpha 255 Colour Red Top Right - Alpha 255 Colour Black So in effect I want to take a solid colour, add a left to right gradient to black then take the output of that and add a top to bottom gradient to transparency. All this and I want it to be in a single brush, is this even possible?

  • ValueConverter not being invoked in DataTemplate binding

    - by unforgiven3
I have a ComboBox that uses a DataTemplate. The DataTemplate contains a binding which uses an IValueConverter to convert an enumerated value into a string. The problem is that the value converter is never invoked. This is my XAML: <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=StatusChoices, Mode=OneWay}"> <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Converter={StaticResource StatusToTextConverter}}"/> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> </ComboBox> Is my binding not correct? I thought this is how one implicitly binds to the value a DataTemplate is presenting. Am I wrong?

  • How to find control points for a BezierSegment given Start, End, and 2 Intersection Pts in C# - AKA

    - by softwarequestioneer
Hi, I've been struggling looking for an understandable way to do this. I have four points, a StartPt, EndPoint, and Intersection points to represent the peak and valley in the bezier. The BezierSegment in C# requires start, controlPoint 1, controlPoint 2, endpoint - however I don't have any control points I only have these two points that lie along the bezier curves (i'm calling them intersection points above)... how can I calculate the two control points? Thanks in advance, this has been driving me crazy. There's some kind of explanation here: http://www.tinaja.com/glib/nubz4pts1.pdf but it's written in postscript and that language makes no sense to me at all - it's over my head.

  • How to get characters read from the keyboard?

    - by Sandy
Hi, I am trying to get the characters read from the keyboard. I have the following list of that I wish to recognize if entered by a user. List of keyboard entries: letters [ ] ~ ^ numbers Part of the code: void HookManager_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { string test = e.KeyCode.ToString(); Here numbers, letters and square brackets work correctly but the ~ and ^ which require shift key is read incorrectly. For eg. it reads ^ which is on key 6 as a value of 6 and not ^ as it should be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks AA
