  • How to call WCF Service Method Asycroniously from Class file?

    I've added WCF Service reference to my asp.net application and configured that reference to support asncronious calls. From asp.net code behind files, i'm able to call the service methods asyncroniously like the bellow sample code. protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { PageAsyncTask pat = new PageAsyncTask(BeiginGetDataAsync, EndDataRetrieveAsync, null, null); Page.RegisterAsyncTask(pat); } IAsyncResult BeiginGetDataAsync(object sender, EventArgs e, AsyncCallback async, object extractData) { svc = new Service1Client(); return svc.BeginGetData(656,async, extractData); } void EndDataRetrieveAsync(IAsyncResult ar) { Label1.Text = svc.EndGetData(ar); } and in page directive added Async="true" In this scenario it is working fine. But from UI i'm not supposed to call the service methods directly. I need to call all service methods from a static class and from code behind file i need to invoke the static method. In this scenario what exactlly do i need to do?

  • How can I access an ASP.Net 2.0 web service using VB Script?

    I'm trying to find a way to access a web service from a VB Script .vbs file running under wscript.exe. I pulled some sample code from Microsoft but it gives me an error. Dim SOAPClient, Response Set SOAPClient = createobject("MSSOAP.SOAPClient") SOAPClient.mssoapinit("https://www.domain.com/Folder/Service.asmx?WSDL") On that last line I get an error message: WSDLReader: No valid schema specification was found. This version of the SOAP Toolkit only supports 1999 and 2000 XSD schema specifications After getting that message I installed the SOAP 3.0 SDK to make sure I have the most recent version (since it's now deprecated for .Net) but I still get the same error. The reason it needs to be in VB Script is because it's going to be used in a program over which I have no control and it only supports VB Script. Is there a way to get VB Script to be able to parse a newer WSDL file? I do have the source code for the web service. Is there something I can change in the web service to make it schema compatible with the SOAP toolkit?

    I'm on a project where we use NetBeans (6.8). We use several different web services, which we have added as web service references, and Netbeans auto-generates the Ant wsimport scripts for us. Very handy, with one drawback: The web service clients are recompiled every time ant is invoked. This slows down the build process considerably and has caused the number of sword-related injuries, maimings and deaths to skyrocket. Normally, I'd fix this by changing the wsimport element from <wsimport sourcedestdir="${build.generated.dir}/jax-wsCache/PonyService" destdir="${build.generated.dir}/jax-wsCache/PonyService" wsdl="${wsdl-PonyService}" catalog="catalog.xml" verbose="true"/> to <wsimport sourcedestdir="${build.generated.dir}/jax-wsCache/PonyService" destdir="${build.generated.dir}/jax-wsCache/PonyService" wsdl="${wsdl-PonyService}" catalog="catalog.xml" verbose="true"> <produces dir="${build.generated.dir}/jax-wsCache/PonyService" /> </wsimport> But I can't, 'cause this part of the Ant script is auto-generated. If I right-click the PonyService web service reference and select Edit Web Service Attributes ⇒ wsimport options, I can add attributes to the wsimport element, but not child elements. So: How do I add the produces child element to wsimport other than hacking the auto-generated Ant script? Or more generally: How do I make the NetBeans-generated wsimport not recompile the web service clients every time I build?

    Hello I must create a custom media player within the application with support for mp3 and wav files. I read in the documentation i cant seek or get the media file duration without a custom datasoruce. I checked the demo in the JDE 4.6 but i have still problems... I cant get the duration, it return much more then the expected so i`m sure i screwed up something while i modified the code to read the mp3 file locally from the filesystem. Somebody can help me what i did wrong ? (I can hear the mp3, so the player plays it correctly from start to end) I must support OSs = 4.6.   • How do you debug a windows service that is being installed?

    I know how to attach a debugger to a windows service, but I can't seem to get attached to one that's being installed and started by a windows installer. I've tried: Setting a Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(30)); at the beginning of the on-start, but when I try to attach in Visual Studio, the name of the service does not appear as an option. This normally works, the service's name shows up in the list, but when using the installer it does not. Setting a Debugger.Break and Debugger.Launch. Neither really do anything. What can I do to debug my service?

    I have a WCF service that uses the NetTcpBinding and is running within a Windows service. Remote clients connect to this service. So far, I have defined the endpoint to use "localhost". If the host machine has multiple network adapters, will it receive messages on all adapters? Would it be better to assign the machine's host name to the endpoint instead of "localhost"? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

    Hi, I have a strange application in that for development and testing I need a windows forms application so that I can monitor what it is doing. For production, the application will be started from a service and no visible UI is needed. I dont really want to re-write the app. once it is completed into a console app so I would like to leave it as it but start it from the service. My question is will this application work fine from a service? At the moment it has UI elements and I have been able to successfully start the application from a service using the Process class (System.Diagnostics). Could anything go wrong with this approach?

  • Does a WCF service with basicHttpBinding create a new connection for each request?

    I have a Silverlight client calling a WCF Service on an IIS web server. It uses the default basicHttpBinding setting for the calls. My client code has the usual Visual Studio generated proxy that is generated when using the 'Update Service Reference' menu option. Does every call to the service using that proxy use the same connection? Or does it create a connection each time a call is made and then close it down once the reply is received? As the client is actually making a SOAP call over HTTP I just assumed that every service request had a new connection created but I want to check if that is the case? (I need to know because if it creates a new connection each time then each request could end up at a different server because there are several servers being load balanced. It is uses a single connection for the duration of the proxy then I can assume they all end up at the same machine and so it would cache state.)

  • Can PyAMF support service deployment by way of the filesystem?

    I'm evaluating PyAMF to replace our current PHP (ugh) AMF services framework, and I'm unable to find the one crucial piece of information that would allow me to provide a compelling use case for changing over: Right now, new PHP AMF services are deployed simply by putting the .php files in the filesystem; the next time they're accessed, the new service is in play. Removal of a service is as simple as deleting the .php file that provided it, and updating it is correspondingly simple. I need that same ease-of-deployment from PyAMF. If we have to rewrite our installers to deploy these services, it'll be a nonstarter. So, what I need to know is, can PyAMF support new service discovery by way of the filesystem, can it support service upgrading and removal by way of same, and if so, what is the best way to set it up to do this? I'm open to any of the various server options; I can easily have cherrypy, django, whatever installed and running on its own, and even -- with a bit more sturm nd drang -- have mod_python or mod_wsgi made available.

    Windows-based client application and web-client application(consuming the same code which windows-client uses) what is the preferable pattern for this scenario? Is it ok to have the code in the common place where both the projects and refer it as dll i.e one which is a windows app and other which is going consume the same code which windows client will be exposing.

Getting 403 error. I'ts probably something related to webservice security (because of different subdomains) but I can't figure out what.     To my understanding, the main difference is that a service account doesn't require a user to log in for authorization, while an installed application does. I am making an Android app (an "installed application"?) that offers an in-app subscription, and doesn't require the user to log in to an account (a "service account"?). To get a Client ID for the Google Play Developer API, I have to declare it as either an installed application or a service account, and am unsure which to go with.

    Hello, I'm calling a WCF service through javascript and right now it's not showing any errors that might occur on the service side to the user. I have the code below and am looking for a better way to inform the user an error has occured, including the call stack and error message if possible. The service itself throws a FaultException if an error has occured. However, I want to catch that error in the javascript call and show it to the user.   • Is a Service Bus a good option to communicate with multiple external servers?

    We are developing an application that communicates, via web services or TCP/IP sockets, with multiple servers (up to 50 different external companies). Basically, the exchanged messages are the same (XML), but depending on the inputs of our application we should call 1 or more external servers. The benefits we would expect of introducing a Service Bus in the architecture would be: 1- Remove the need to manage all point-to-point configurations (all the 50 endpoints); 2- Simplify the communication layer of our application by having only one server to talk to; Is a Service Bus a good architectural option for this scenario? What is the best (simplest) Service Bus for this kind of communication? I read a few MSDN articles on Azure Service Bus Relay, but it didn’t seem to fit our needs. Am I wrong? Thanks for your help.

    I need to be able to login to a RHEL 6 server using rsh (please don't flame me about security, it's irrelevant in this particular instance) as root without having to enter a password. My procedure for setting this up works great in RHEL 5.x, but does not work in RHEL 6. I suspect this has something to do with PAM, but I'm inexperienced with how to use PAM.
