  • Code Review: CLR RegexSubstring

    - by OMG Ponies
    Could this be better? .NET 2.0 compatibility for SQL Server 2005: public static SqlString RegexSubstring(SqlString regexpattern, SqlString sourcetext, SqlInt32 start_position) { SqlString result = null; if (!regexpattern.IsNull && !sourcetext.IsNull && !start_position.IsNull) { int start_location = (int)start_position >= 0 ? (int)start_position : 0; Regex RegexInstance = new Regex(regexpattern.ToString()); result = new SqlString(RegexInstance.Match(sourcetext.ToString(), (int)start_position).Value); } return result; }

  • Design pattern: Polymorphism for list of objects

    - by ziang
    Suppose I have a class A, and A1, A2 inherits from A. There are 2 functions: List<A1> getListA1(){...} List<A2> getListA2(){...} Now I want to do something similar to both A1 and A2 in another function public void process(List<A>){...} If I want to pass the instance of either ListA1 or ListA2, of course the types doesn't match because the compiler doesn't allow the coercion from List< A1 to List< A. I can't do something like this: List<A1> listA1 = getListA1(); List<A> newList = (List<A>)listA1; //this is not allowed. So what is the best approach to the process()? Is there any way to do it in a universal way rather than write the similar code to both List and List?

  • F# operator over-loading question

  • Scala, represent pattern of boolean tuple into something else.

    - by Berlin Brown
    This is a cellular automata rule (input Boolean == Left, Center, Right Cell) and output Boolean . What is a better way to represent this in Scala. trait Rule { def ruleId() : Int def rule(inputState:(Boolean, Boolean, Boolean)) : Boolean override def toString : String = "Rule:" + ruleId } class Rule90 extends Rule { def ruleId() = 90 def rule(inputState:(Boolean, Boolean, Boolean)) : Boolean = { // Verbose version, show all 8 states inputState match { case (true, true, true) => false case (true, false, true) => false case (false, true, false) => false case (false, false, false) => false case _ => true } } }

  • What's the best way to debug AJAX to PHP calls?

    - by Jascha
    I'm having a miserable time debugging one small function on my new project. Essentially I'm having a user log out via an AJAX call to my log out script on my server called "userfFunctions.php" I'm using AJAX so that I don't have the headache of writing more regex to match my mod_rewrites. Anyway, every so often, it seems as though my Post data just flat out dies and since the PHP is running behind the scenes, I feel like I have no way of finding out where the data flow is being disrupted. BTW This function works 19 hrs of the day. Here is the javascript function: function logOut(){ var data = new Object; data.log_out = true; $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'http://www.mydomain.com/User_Validator', //<-- redirects to userFunctions.php data: data, success: function(data) { alert(data); // <-- a response is triggered but with no response data! } }); } the php side: if(isset($_POST['log_out'])){ echo 'alert this!'; } here is my awesome response:

  • How can I change ruby log level in unit tests based on context

    - by Stuart
    I'm new to ruby so forgive me if this is simple or I get some terminology wrong. I've got a bunch of unit tests (actually they're integration tests for another project, but they use ruby test/unit) and they all include from a module that sets up an instance variable for the log object. When I run the individual tests I'd like log.level to be debug, but when I run a suite I'd like log.level to be error. Is it possible to do this with the approach I'm taking, or does the code need to be restructured? Here's a small example of what I have so far. The logging module: #!/usr/bin/env ruby require 'logger' module MyLog def setup @log = Logger.new(STDOUT) @log.level = Logger::DEBUG end end A test: #!/usr/bin/env ruby require 'test/unit' require 'mylog' class Test1 < Test::Unit::TestCase include MyLog def test_something @log.info("About to test something") # Test goes here @log.info("Done testing something") end end A test suite made up of all the tests in its directory: #!/usr/bin/env ruby Dir.foreach(".") do |path| if /it-.*\.rb/.match(File.basename(path)) require path end end

  • Offline navigation software for Android - what is out there?

    - by Ted
    Im looking for navigation software for the Android platform and I have a few requirements: Offline maps. The maps should be stored on the device/memory card so no Internet-connection is required There should be some way to interact with the application "through code"; sending route requests, getting current location perhaps, bringing app to foreground/background, etc. An API so it can be controlled from another application. No monthly fees The only one I found so far to match the above is Sygic Navigation. However, I havent yet been able to communication with the app even though they say that it can be done. Still investigating that...

  • Javascript syntax error

    - by Mel
    Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a syntax error in line 14 of this code: The debugger says expected ')' after argument list on var json = eval('(' + content ')'); I tried adding a bracket, but it doesn't seem to be working. // Tooltips for index.cfm $(document).ready(function() { $('#catalog a[href]').each(function() { $(this).qtip( { content: { url: 'components/viewgames.cfc?method=fGameDetails', data: { gameID: $(this).attr('href').match(/gameID=([0-9]+)$/)[1] }, method: 'get' }, api: { beforeContentUpdate: function(content) { var json = eval('(' + content ')'); content = $('<div />').append( $('<h1 />', { html: json.TNAME })); return content; } }, }); }); });

  • XPath 1.0 to find if an element's value is in a list of values

    - by user364902
    Is there a way to construct an XPath that evaluates whether an element's value is in a predefined list of values? Something akin to this: /Location/Addr[State='TX or AL or MA'] Which would match nodes whith State elements for Texas, Alabama, or Massachusetts? I know that I can unpack the expression: /Location/Addr[State='TX] or /Location/Addr[State='AL'], etc... But this is a bit cumbersome since the xpaths are quite long, as is the list of values. My google-fu isn't turning up much on the issue...

  • sql server bulk copy out/postgres copy from infile

    - by Chris Curvey
    I'm starting a conversion of a system from MS SQL Server to Postgres. I have the table structures converted, and I use "bcp" to get the data out of SQL Server. ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0x80 HINT: This error can also happen if the byte sequence does not match the encoding expected by the server, which is controlled by "client_encoding". CONTEXT: COPY cm_outgoing, line 200: "200 c:\temp\200.xml 2009-10-10 01:50:44.000 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000" I've already used "sed" to get rid of the NUL (0x00) entries in the file, and I can't find any instances of 0x80 in the file that I'm trying to import. Any thoughts? Is there an easier way?

  • Probability Question

    - by Juddling
    if i pick 10 numbers from a possible 80. what is the probablity for someone else picking the same 10 numbers as me? or just 4 numbers? or no numbers? i think it's no matches: 10/80 one match: 10*9/80*79 so the formula would be (10!/matches!)/(80!/matches!) is this right? i've only just started doing this at A-level and i need it for a game script i'm making.

  • How can I pass a type as a parameter in scala?

    - by rsan
    I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how can I store or pass a type in scala. What I want to achive is something like this: abstract class Foo( val theType : type ) object Foo{ case object Foo1 extends Foo(String) case object Foo2 extends Foo(Long) } So at some point I can do this: theFoo match{ case String => "Is a string" case Long => "Is a long" } and when obtaining the object being able to cast it: theFoo.asInstanceOf[Foo1.theType] Is this possible? If is possible, is a good aproach? What I'm trying to achieve ultimately is writing a pseudo schema for byte stream treatment. E.g if I have an schema Array(Foo1,Foo1,Foo2,Foo3,Foo1) I could parse Arrays of bytes that complain with that schema, if at some point I have a different stream of bytes I could just write a new schema Array(Foo3, Foo4, Foo5) without having to reimplement parsing logic. • Read Core data in Serial Queue for iPhone app

    - by user1277209
    I have an app which uses Core data and the values are fetched from a link on internet. This runs absolutely fine when I am creating a serial queue in AppDelegate and I am not facing any problem with the same. Now, when I am trying to re-create similar scenario in a UITableViewController and executing the same in a serial queue but when the control reaches NSError *error; NSArray *match = [context executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; execution control disappears and then this code remains in the execution till eternity. Can anyone help me with what exactly is wrong here? FYI, I am passing the same ManagedObjectContext to the serial queue.

  • Python - alternative to list.remove(x)?

    - by Seafoid
    Hi, I wish to compare two lists. Generally this is not a problem as I usually use a nested for loop and append the intersection to a new list. In this case, I need to delete the intersection of A and B from A. A = [['ab', 'cd', 'ef', '0', '567'], ['ghy5'], ['pop', 'eye']] B = [['ab'], ['hi'], ['op'], ['ej']] My objective is to compare A and B and delete A intersection B from A, i.e., delete A[0][0] in this case. I tried: def match(): for i in A: for j in i: for k in B: for v in k: if j == v: A.remove(j) list.remove(x) throws a ValueError.

  • Would my situation be an appropriate place to use the ' /i ' REGEX attribute?

    - by Solignis
    I am making a large catalogue of all of the possible OS names that can be supported by my particular version of VMWare. Originally I was writing them all as they stood in the VMX files but then I found a website that had them all listed, the problem is they are not properly cased to provide a "perfect" match, would this be the perfect time to use the regex attribute for case insensitivity? Also as a side question, would it be possibly extract the list of OSs from the website?. They look to be in a HTML formated chart. It would save me a lot of time having to type them all out.

  • MySQL Query, Date Range From "Blacklist"

    - by erbaker
    I have 2 databases. One is properties and the other is dates. In dates I have associated the land_id and a date (In YYYYMMDD format) which means that the date is not available. I need to formulate a query that a user can specify a start and end date, and then choose a property for which dates are available (not in the date database). How do airline and hotel websites do this kind of logic? I was thinking about taking the date range and picking all days in between and doing a query where the dates do not match and ordering it by number of results, but I can see how that could easily turn into an intense query. CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `dates` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `land_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `date` varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=44 ; -- -- Dumping data for table `dates` -- INSERT INTO `dates` (`id`, `land_id`, `date`) VALUES (43, 1, '20100526'), (39, 1, '20100522'), (40, 1, '20100523'), (41, 1, '20100521'), (42, 1, '20100525');

  • Remove duplicates in entries, scala way

    - by andersbohn
    I have a list of entries stating a production value in a given interval. Entries stating the exact same value at a later time adds no information and can safely be left out. case class Entry(minute:Int, production:Double) val entries = List(Entry(0, 100.0), Entry(5, 100.0), Entry(10, 100.0), Entry(20, 120.0), Entry(30, 100.0), Entry(180, 0.0)) Experimenting with the scala 2.8 collection functions, so far I have this working implementation: entries.foldRight(List[Entry]()) { (entry, list) => list match { case head :: tail if (entry.production == head.production) => entry :: tail case head :: tail => entry :: list case List() => entry :: List() } } res0: List[Entry] = List(Entry(0,100.0), Entry(20,120.0), Entry(30,100.0), Entry(180,0.0)) Any comments? Am I missing out on some scala magic?

  • XSL - How to tell if element is last in series

  • Anyway to get a value similar to @@ROWCOUNT when TOP is used?

    - by cfeduke
    If I have a SQL statement such as: SELECT TOP 5 * FROM Person WHERE Name LIKE 'Sm%' ORDER BY ID DESC PRINT @@ROWCOUNT -- shows '5' Is there anyway to get a value like @@ROWCOUNT that is the actual count of all of the rows that match the query without re-issuing the query again sans the TOP 5? The actual problem is a much more complex and intensive query that performs beautifully since we can use TOP n or SET ROWCOUNT n but then we cannot get a total count which is required to display paging information in the UI correctly. Presently we have to re-issue the query with a @Count = COUNT(ID) instead of *.

  • How do I convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes in Java?

    - by user1795595
    I'm creating a method specific method for a java project i'm working on. The UML given specifies the return type to be of static byte[] that accepts the arguments (String, byte) So far, looks like this: public static byte[] convertNumToDigitArray(String number, byte numDigits) { } This method is supposed to convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes. The ordering must go from most to least significant digits. For example, if the number String is “732” then index 0 of the array should contain 7. The last argument (numDigits) should match the length of the string passed in. How do I do this?

  • Address of array vs. address of array[0] - C language

    - by user324994
    My question is why does the address of an array differ from the address of its first position? I'm trying to write my own malloc, but to start out I'm just allocating a chunk of memory and playing around with the addresses. My code looks roughly like this: #define BUFF_SIZE 1024 static char *mallocbuff; int main(){ mallocbuff = malloc(BUFF_SIZE); printf("The address of mallocbuff is %d\n", &mallocbuff); printf("The address of mallocbuff[0] is %d\n", &mallocbuff[0]); } &mallocbuff is the same address every time I run it. &mallocbuff[0] is some random address every time. I was expecting the addresses to match each other. Can anyone explain why this isn't the case?

  • iOS Development: Should the "playersToInvite" property contain an array of strings or an array of GKPlayer objects?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    Should the playersToInvite property of the GKMatchRequest object contain an array of NSString objects that hold the player id's or should it contain an array of GKPlayer objects? The documentation on this critical property is not clear at all and I've tried both ways, but my code isn't working, so I can't tell by experimentation. Here's the description for that property in the docs... A list of players to invite to the match. Why did they even bother writing that? Thanks for your help!

  • C++ template overloading - wrong function called

    - by DeadMG
    template<typename T> T* Push(T* ptr); template<typename T> T* Push(T& ref); template<typename T, typename T1> T* Push(T1&& ref); I have int i = 0; Push<int>(i); But the compiler calls it ambiguous. How is that ambiguous? The second function is clearly the preferred match since it's more specialized. Especially since the T1&& won't bind to an lvalue unless I explicitly forward/move it. Sorry - i is an int. Otherwise, the question would make no sense, and I thought people would infer it since it's normally the loop iterator.
