• iOS Development: Should the "playersToInvite" property contain an array of strings or an array of GKPlayer objects?

  Should the playersToInvite property of the GKMatchRequest object contain an array of NSString objects that hold the player id's or should it contain an array of GKPlayer objects? The documentation on this critical property is not clear at all and I've tried both ways, but my code isn't working, so I can't tell by experimentation. Here's the description for that property in the docs... A list of players to invite to the match. Why did they even bother writing that? Thanks for your help!

  I'm trying to figure out how to allow a user to enter in a string of tags (keywords separated by spaces) in a textbox to filter a grid of results. Here are the tables: PACKETS *PacketID Name PACKETTAGS *PacketTagID PacketID TagID Tags *TagID Name Here is the basic query without the WHERE parameters: SELECT Packets.Name, Tags.Name AS Tag, PacketTags.PacketTagID FROM Packets INNER JOIN PacketTags ON Packets.PacketID = PacketTags.PacketID INNER JOIN Tags ON PacketTags.TagID = Tags.TagID I need to filter out all the Packets that don't have tags that match any of the words BUT ALSO ONLY include the Packets that have the tags entered in the string of text (spaces separate the tags when entered into the textbox) I'm starting with the basics by figuring this out in t-SQL first but ultimately I need to be able to do this in Linq-to-SQL

  I have some text; I want to extract pairs of words that are not separated by punctuation. For example "My name is James", for n = 3, must match "my name is" and "name is james", but instead it matches just the first. Is there a way to solve this?

There are 2 functions: List<A1> getListA1(){...} List<A2> getListA2(){...} Now I want to do something similar to both A1 and A2 in another function public void process(List<A>){...} If I want to pass the instance of either ListA1 or ListA2, of course the types doesn't match because the compiler doesn't allow the coercion from List< A1 to List< A. I can't do something like this: List<A1> listA1 = getListA1(); List<A> newList = (List<A>)listA1; //this is not allowed. So what is the best approach to the process()? Is there any way to do it in a universal way rather than write the similar code to both List and List?

However, my code does not produce that output. Why? I can't understand that. My regex needs to be as it is because I match other strings (this time with success). Thanks.

  In terms of jQuery (or Javascript), what happens behind the scenes when a person posts a comment on Facebook, Twitter, or a blog? For instance, do they sanitize the text first, and then pattern match URL's into an actual link? Are there other items of concern that the client-side should check in addition to doing some checks on the backend? I have found a few regex's for turning URL's into links, but I'm not sure if there are better solutions. I'm trying to wrap my head around the problem, but I'm having a difficult time knowing where to start. Any guidance you can provide is greatly appreciated!

  I need to get all the text nodes with a certain font-face in a page to an array. I tried.. textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@style='font-family: foo;']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); and textnodes = document.evaluate("//* [@face='foo']//text()[" + "not(ancestor::script) and not(ancestor::style)]", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); But these does not work with pages that is styled by external CSS files. Seems getComputedStyle() is the way to go. I think what I need is something like.. var tags = document.getElementsByTagName('*'); for (var i in tags) { var style = getComputedStyle(tags[i], ''); if (style.fontFamily.match(/foo/i)) { textnodes.push(tags[i]); } } But text nodes were not returned in this method. Is there anyway I can use a hybrid of xpath evaluate() and getComputedStyle() or any other way to achieve this?

• What's the best way to debug AJAX to PHP calls?

  I'm having a miserable time debugging one small function on my new project. Essentially I'm having a user log out via an AJAX call to my log out script on my server called "userfFunctions.php" I'm using AJAX so that I don't have the headache of writing more regex to match my mod_rewrites. Anyway, every so often, it seems as though my Post data just flat out dies and since the PHP is running behind the scenes, I feel like I have no way of finding out where the data flow is being disrupted. BTW This function works 19 hrs of the day.   I have a multi page spread sheet in excel that needs to read information dynamically from columns on other pages and have these values show up on a main page. This is the formula I'm using: =IF(VLOOKUP($B:$B,'CP01'!$B:$BN,3,FALSE)="r","r", IF(VLOOKUP($B:$B,'CP01'!$B:$BN,3,FALSE)="a","a","")) CP01 is a sheet in the excel file and instead of look at the specific sheet I want it to look at all of the sheets in the file. Is there a way to do this as an excel formula or with excel-VBA? Edit: I also tried CP* (* being a wildcard character) and it didn't work. Edit2: Is there a way to match the value where the 'CP' is placed with its a other columns value?

• Return cell reference as result of if statement with vlookups.

  I have two sets of data in excel. One contains a set of data which represents the initial step of a process. The other set of data represents the additional steps which take place after the first step is completed. Each of the data records in the "additional step data" has an id in a column. I need to find the identifying codes of the "additional step data" which correspond with the initial step data records. The problem is that I have to match the data in 4 columns between the two data sets and return the id of the "additional step data". I started by doing a combination of an if and vlookup functions, but I got stuck when I tried to figure out how to get the if statement to reference the id of the matching "additional step data". Basically I am trying to avoid having to search by manually filtering between two sets of data and finding corresponding records. Does anyone have any idea about how to do this?

  I have a SQL Server table with a list of files (path + filename), and a folder with multiple layers and files in each layer. I'm looking for a way to reconcile the two without having to process the list twice. Currently, I'm doing this: For Each f as FileInfo In FileListFromDatabase If f.Exists is False, mark it as deleted in the database Next For Each f as FileInfo In RecursiveListOFFilesOnDisk If Not FileExistsInDatabase, then add it Next Is there a better way to do this? I'd like to avoid converting all the matching files (of which most will be) to FileInfo objects twice. Since I'm a T-SQL developer first, I'm picturing something like an OUTER JOIN of the two lists where they don't match. Something LINQ-ish?

  I'm writing a SQL statement to select a user on a table if that user does not exist on another table, then I want to pull in all their data from another table then I'll be outputting all that in Coldfusion. How do I do this? I have tried, my atempt is below: pro_profile == All employees mod_userStatus == All Professional Staff members I am doing the not exists to remove professional stuff to just get our student staff. mod_StudentCertifications is a listing of the certifications they (students) hold. If we do an AND statement between the where statements it returns no users, or only users that meet both conditions, if we do an OR it will return users with only 1 condition. I need it first Match the not exists then proceed to the exists statement. Is that do able?   Recently a guy from our 3rd line team thought it would be funny to delete my account from AD. This has now been re-added. Everything is back to normal apart from my Access to Sharepoint sites. I am getting "The file exists. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070050)" Error on all sites. After some googleing I came across a guy with the same issue and it was an issue with the SID being different from my old account. Since this I deleted my account from Site Administrators and re-added. This would refresh the SID with the new one. I also check on the Content database that the site ID matched using the following transactions and the SIDs match. select s.Id, w.FullUrl from Sites s inner join Webs w on s.RootWebId = w.Id select * from UserInfo where tp_Login='domain\username' and tp_SiteID='' I am now a bit clueless.

• How do I get Xcode and TextMate to calibrate syntax highlighting colours the same way?

  This is a mostly insignificant problem, but it's been bugging me for a while and I figured someone on here might be as ridiculously OCD as I am (this is a programmer community after all). Basically, the problem is that TextMate doesn't seem to calibrate syntax highlighting colours, while Xcode does. What this means in practice is that, while I've faithfully recreated my TextMate theme in Xcode, the syntax highlighting in Xcode seems noticeably less vivid that it does in TextMate. If I use DigitalColor Meter to check the actual colours in Xcode, they don't match the values I entered, while in TextMate they do. Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks!

  How does apache handle caching of certain files, and is it possible to explicitly say that certain files should be aggressively cached more than others, through the standard config files for a given host or virtualhost? To put it in context, I keep a lot of site content in various XML files, and I'd like to be able to say that this file will be used a lot, and therefore cache it as much as possible..? Does apache do this kind of thing intelligently and on the fly..? Will it observe which files are more popular than others and try to match cache hits appropriately..? Lots of questions in one, but the basic idea should be clear enough. edit: to be clear, these are resource files which are loaded and interpreted by PHP - but php as a process is spawned inside apache.. right? Please help!

• c++ Sorting a vector based on values of other vector, or what's faster?

  Hi, There are a couple of other posts about sorting a vector A based on values in another vector B. Most of the other answers tell to create a struct or a class to combine the values into one object and use std::sort. Though I'm curious about the performance of such solutions as I need to optimize code which implements bubble sort to sort these two vectors. I'm thinking to use a vector<pair<int,int>> and sort that. I'm working on a blob-tracking application (image analysis) where I try to match previously tracked blobs against newly detected blobs in video frames where I check each of the frames against a couple of previously tracked frames and of course the blobs I found in previous frames. I'm doing this at 60 times per second (speed of my webcam). Any advice on optimizing this is appreciated. • Hudson, is it possible to make a plugin configuration non-visible depending on job type?

  With the plugin (SCM plugin) I'm working on the problem is that it doesn't work in any other job/project type than Freestyle-project. I'd like to hide the plugin configuration from project configuration page on other job/project types (maven, matrix etc), because it seems to distract people. I wonder if there's a "right" way of doing this, or any way at all? Currently the project type is checked in checkout-method as a first thing, and if it doesn't match, the build is failed instantly, but this is not completely satisfactory solution, since it causes a bit more work to the end user.

• MySQL Query, Date Range From "Blacklist"

  I have 2 databases. One is properties and the other is dates. In dates I have associated the land_id and a date (In YYYYMMDD format) which means that the date is not available. I need to formulate a query that a user can specify a start and end date, and then choose a property for which dates are available (not in the date database). How do airline and hotel websites do this kind of logic? I was thinking about taking the date range and picking all days in between and doing a query where the dates do not match and ordering it by number of results, but I can see how that could easily turn into an intense query. • About curse of dimensionality

  My question is about this topic I've been reading about a bit. Basically my understanding is that in higher dimensions all points end up being very close to each other. The doubt I have is whether this means that calculating distances the usual way (euclidean for instance) is valid or not. If it were still valid, this would mean that when comparing vectors in high dimensions, the two most similar wouldn't differ much from a third one even when this third one could be completely unrelated. Is this correct? Then in this case, how would you be able to tell whether you have a match or not?

  I think I remember reading a long time ago that in C#3 extension methods could only be applied to primitive types and interfaces; and that in C#4 they could be used to extend any type. This doesn't seam to match up with what I am seeing now and I am finding it difficult to find this documented. Is there any truth to this or did my memory make it all up? What are the rules relating to which types can be extended? Are there any differences between C# 3 and 4?

When I set < identity impersonate=true > in my web.config so that asp.net impersonates the logged on user automatically (or the anonymous account if not using Windows Authentication), where does the identity that asp.net impersonates come from? This document: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff649264.aspx shows three places you can retrieve information about the logged on user: Httpcontext.Current.user System.Threading.Thread.Current System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent It seems that none of these locations consistently match the identity that gets impersonated when I set < identity impersonate=true > in web.config. I would like to know where the impersonated identity comes from.
