  • Livevalidation: only validate when default value is changed

    - by usr122212
    Hello there! I am validating my html form with livevalidation and everything works great except for one feature. I have a input field with a default value age, I only want the livevalidation to validate when it says something other than "age". so maybe the user will type in 20 then the validation will fire checking its things but if left as "age" it won't check it all. But as of now, it just checks everything with a validation script and this is a problem for me as I have lots of fields in my form and some of them are optional so when I hit submit, the livevalidation checks the age field as well even if the user didnt touch it to begin with. Would this be possible with livevalidation ? Thanks for the help.

  • Passing javascript form variables into jQuery function not working

    - by Chase
    I am trying to pass some JavaScript variables that I have assigned to form variables into a query string used by a jQuery plug in called fancybox. If I hard code in the string that I want lightbox works great, however I need it to pass some form values in there to make it work as desire. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var item = document.itemFinder.item; var zip = document.itemFinder.zip; var radius = document.itemFinder.radius; var dataString = "item=" + item + "&zip=" + zip + "&radius=" + radius; $("#various3").fancybox({ ajax : { type : "POST", data : dataString}, 'scrolling' : 'auto', 'overlayOpacity' : '0' } ); }); </script> What am I doing wrong?

  • Overriding the default error message for a ModelForm

    - by Jude Osborn
    Is there any way to override a error_message text for all the fields of a ModelForm's, without having to include all the field info in the ModelForm? For example, let's say I have a (very simple) model like this: People(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128, null=True, blank=True, help_text="Please type your name.") age = models.IntegerField(help_text="Please type your age.") I don't like the cut and dry default messages, such as, "Enter a whole number.", so I'd like to change them to something a bit nicer like "Please type a number." Ideally I'd be able to add an "error_message" property in the model, but the model does not support that property. So does that mean I have to basically duplicate all the model info in my ModelForm, or is there a way around that?

  • How to open links in new window ONLY IF the check box is checked

    - by Travis
    Here is what i have so far. I have it so they open in new windows, but i want it only if the check box is checked... <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function new() { if ( document.getElementById('checkbox').checked ) window.open( 'y', 'n', 't', 'New Window' ); } else { break; } var OpenNew = document.getElementById('opennew'); OpenNew.addEventListener('click', OpenWin, false ); </script> </head> <body> <p> <form name="test"> <p>Open link in a new window &nbsp; <input type="checkbox" id="checkbox" name="check" /></p> </form> </p> <p> <h2>My favorite Websites to visit</h2> <a href="http://www.youtube.com" target="new" id="y">Youtube</a><br /> <a href="http://www.newegg.com" target="new" id="n">Newegg</a><br /> <a href="http://www.twitch.tv" target="new" id="t">Twitch.tv</a><br /> </p> </body> </html> I am unsure how to actually do the if statement if it is checked then open. It does currently open in a new tab.. i just need it to be only when its checked. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • How to protect a form HTML/PHP with JS callback to AS3

    - by Jk_
    Hi guys, I'm developing a Flash website (as3) where I need to be able to upload directly to YouTube by using the DATA API. However in order to do so, I had to use a proper HTML form on top of my flash object. Why? Because of the Browser Based Upload restictions. I first hide the form using JQuery and with a little CSS the form is display just where I want it. Within flash I use ExternalInterface.call() to show/hide the form when I need it! ExternalInterface.call("YTUploader.showIt"); The upload process is working great my only problem is that the form can be displayed easily... You just need a tool like firebug and you can use the form wherever you want on my flash app. So I was wandering which will be the best way to 'protect' this form or the best way to limit its access. Any advices will be appreciated. Thanks for your time. Jk.

  • Sending Javascript variables.

    - by shinjuo
    I have a page that allows a user to choose some things in a form and it will calculate the weight using javascript. It breaks it up into 5 variables that I need to send to another page. Originally I was just having it put the variable into a text box and then I was posting that text box. However I dont want to have 5 text boxes. So now I need to somehow send or post the five variables to another page. Here is my javascript function. I need to post weightBoxOne - weightBoxFive js function function getWeight(){ var weightBoxOne; var weightBoxTwo; var totalWeight; var box = .5; var quantity = document.dhform.quantity.value; var cardSize = document.dhform.cardSize.value; if(cardSize == 0.0141){ if(quantity <= 1000){ weightBoxOne = (quantity * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne; }else if(quantity > 1000 && quantity <= 2000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = ((quantity - 1000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo; }else if(quantity > 2000 && quantity <= 3000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = ((quantity - 2000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree; }else if(quantity > 3000 && quantity <= 4000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFour = ((quantity - 3000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree + weightBoxFour; }else{ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFour = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFive = ((quantity - 4000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree + weightBoxFour + weightBoxFive; } }else if(cardSize == 0.00949){ if(quantity <= 4000){ weightBoxOne = (quantity * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne; }else{ weightBoxOne = (4000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = ((quantity - 4000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo; } } document.rates.weight.value = totalWeight; } //--> this is the form that was originally posting <form action="getRates.php" name="rates" method="post" onSubmit="popupform(this, 'join')"> <table style="width: 216px"> <tr> <td style="width: 115px; height: 49px;"><span class="style16">Weight</span><br/> <input type="text" id="weight" name="weight" size="10" maxlength="4"/> </td> <td align="right" style="width: 68px; height: 49px;" valign="top"><span class="style16">Zip Code</span><br/> <input type="text" id="zip" name="zip" size="10" maxlength="5"/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 115px"> <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Get Rate Costs" style="width: 138px" />

  • CSS image for submit button - clicking image must submit form

    - by Tom
    Please help, I have a form on wordpress. I want the user to be able to click an image instead of the standard submit button. I have the image appear and the submit button disappear - but nothing happens when I click on the image. This is the code I am using: .formBuilderForm .formBuilderSubmit { clear: both; text-align: right; display:block; width:228px; height:49px; background: url(my image url) no-repeat; text-indent:-999em; Before you say "google it" or try search: I have tried the methods mentioned here: http://www.queness.com/post/798/5-techniques-to-style-buttons-using-images-and-css I've read similar posts such as this on stackoverflow but they don't solve my frustratingly simple problem. How to change input button image using CSS? Thanks for your help.

  • indicate tuncation in ToolTipStatusLabel automatically

    - by harper
    I have a .NET application with a StatusStrip holding three ToolTipStatusLabels. The Text of the labels are filled from the application as they show the status. For some circumstances they can hold an empty text. When I resize the window, the ToolTipStatusLabels are hidden when they cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. I would like to have the text truncated when the label cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. The default behavior to hide the label makes it difficult to distinguish between empty text or hidden label. To indicate that the text is truncated automatically, this should be indicated with an ellipsis (...). How can this be done?

It's a new window which I'll be using often so I think this is the right way. The window will be opened by envoking the showDialog-Method as known from the other dialog. Any Idea? Thanks and regards, Daniel

  • Updating nested attributes causes duplicate entries

    I have a has_many and belongs_to relationship between Job and Address. When I try to update Job and Address in the same form, it updates job but creates a duplicate entry for Address. Am I missing something here? The Edit and Update Actions from Jobs: def edit @job = Job.find(params[:id]) end def update @job = Job.find(params[:id]) if @job.update_attributes(job_params) flash[:success] = "Job Updated" redirect_to current_user else render 'edit' end end The edit form: <h1>Edit Job Information</h1> <div class="row"> <div class="span6 offset3"> <%= form_for(@job) do |f| %> <%= render 'shared/error_messages' %> <%= f.label :recipient %> <%= f.text_field :recipient %> <%= f.label :age %> <%= f.text_field :age %> <%= f.label :gender %> <%= f.text_field :gender %> <%= f.label :ethnicity %> <%= f.text_field :ethnicity %> <%= f.label :height %> <%= f.text_field :height %> <%= f.label :weight %> <%= f.text_field :weight %> <%= f.label :hair %> <%= f.text_field :hair %> <%= f.label :eyes %> <%= f.text_field :eyes %> <%= f.label :other_info %> <%= f.text_field :other_info %> <h3> Address Information </h3> <%= f.fields_for :addresses do |address| %> <%= address.label :label, "Label" %> <%= address.text_field :label %> <%= address.label :addy, "Address" %> <%= address.text_field :addy %> <%= address.label :apt, "Apt/Suite/etc" %> <%= address.text_field :apt %> <%= address.label :city, "City" %> <%= address.text_field :city %> <%= address.label :state, "State" %> <%= address.text_field :state %> <%= address.label :zip, "Zip code" %> <%= address.text_field :zip %> <% end %> <%= f.label :instructions, "Service Instructions" %> <%= f.text_field :instructions %> <%= check_box_tag(:rush) %> <%= label_tag(:rush, "Rush?") %> <%= f.submit "Update Job", class: "btn btn-large btn-primary" %> <% end %> </div> </div>

  • jQuery mobile ajax login form authentication

    - by Jakub Zak
    I know i already asked simillar question, but now when I work with jQuery Mobile I can't figure it out. So I have this form: <div data-role="page" data-theme="a" id="login_page"> <div data-role="header" data-position="fixed"> <h1>****</h1> </div> <div data-role="content"> <form id="login_form" method="POST" data-ajax="false"> <label for="basic">Username:</label> <input type="text" name="name" id="username" value=""/> <label for="basic">Password:</label> <input type="password" name="password" id="password" value=""/> <input type="submit" value="Login" id="login" name="login"/> </form> </div> <div data-role="footer" data-position="fixed"> <div data-role="navbar"></div> </div> </div> And I need to submit Username and Password to php script, where php replies and send "success" or "failed". Here is php: <?php session_start(); $username = $_POST["name"]; $password = $_POST["password"]; include('mysql_connection.php'); mysql_select_db("jzperson_imesUsers", $con); $res1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM temp_login WHERE username='$username' AND password='$password'"); $count=mysql_num_rows($res1); if($count==1){ echo "success"; }else{ echo "failed"; } ?> And to do all this I want to use this script: $(document).ready(function() { $("form").submit(function(){ $.mobile.showPageLoadingMsg(); $.ajax({ url: "http://imes.jzpersonal.com/login_control.php", type: "POST", dataType: "jsonp", jsonp: "jsoncallback", data: $("form#login_form").serialize(), success: function( response ){ $.mobile.changePage( "http://imes.jzpersonal.com/user_panel.html"); } }); return false; }); }); But I can't make it work, I know I must have mistakes in there, I just can't find them, or better way to do it. Thank you in advance for any help.

  • How do I prevent form from redirecting after submission?

    - by Noor
    I have searched the site and I've found various solutions, most of them suggesting using return false; Problem is that I'm using this piece of code to submit the form: $(function() { $("#snd").click(function() { var dendar = "http://" + $("#inpt").val() + ":" + $("#pwd").val() + "secretsite.lol/something.xml"; $("#formen").attr("action", dendar); $("#formen").submit(); alert(dendar); return false; }); }); The alert is just there to let me know that the form has been submitted.. Thanks guys!

  • Best way to distribute form that can be printed or saved?

    - by Jason Antman
    I need to develop a simple form (intended only for printing) to be filled in by arbitrary end users (i.e. no specialized software). Ideally, I'd like the end-user to be able to save their inputs to the form and update it periodically. It seems that (at least without LiveCycle Enterprise Suite) Adobe Reader won't save data input in a PDF form. Aside from just distributing the form as a Word document, does anyone have any suggestions? Background: I do some work for a volunteer ambulance corps. They have a lot of elderly patients who don't know (or can't remember) their medical history. They want to develop a common form with personal information (name, address, DOB, medications list, etc.) for elderly residents to hang on their refrigerators (apparently a common solution to this problem). As some of them (or their children/grandchildren) are computer literate, it would make most sense to provide a download-able blank form that can be filled in, saved, updated, and re-printed as needed. Due to worries about privacy, HIPAA, etc. anything with server-side generation is out, it needs to be 100% client-side, and in a format that the majority of non-technical computer users can access without additional software. Thanks for any tips... at this point, I'm leaning towards just using a .doc form.

  • Processing variable number of form fields

    - by a_m0d
    I am working on a form which displays information about orders. Each order has a unique id, but they are not necessarily sequential on the form. Also, the number of fields can vary (one field per row on the form). The input into the form will not be mapped straight into the database, but will be added to the current value in the database, and then saved. An example of the form is in the picture below - the callout on the right shows the id for each row. I know how to generate the form like this, but I can't work out how I can easily process each of these rows reliably. I also know how to give each of the fields a unique identifier, like name="row-23", but how can I translate that name so that I can update the related record in the database?

  • Submit a form and get a JSON response with jQuery

    - by Leopd
    I expect this is easy, but I'm not finding a simple explanation anywhere of how to do this. I have a standard HTML form like this: <form name="new_post" action="process_form.json" method=POST> <label>Title:</label> <input id="post_title" name="post.title" type="text" /><br/> <label>Name:</label><br/> <input id="post_name" name="post.name" type="text" /><br/> <label>Content:</label><br/> <textarea cols="40" id="post_content" name="post.content" rows="20"></textarea> <input id="new_post_submit" type="submit" value="Create" /> </form> I'd like to have javascript (using jQuery) submit the form to the form's action (process_form.json), and receive a JSON response from the server. Then I'll have a javascript function that runs in response to the JSON response, like function form_success(json) { alert('Your form submission worked'); // process json response } How do I wire up the form submit button to call my form_success method when done? Also it should override the browser's own navigation, since I don't want to leave the page. Or should I move the button out of the form to do that?

  • Examples of fast .NET WPF/WinForms apps?

    - by mythz
    I am currently investigating whether to build a windows application using unmanaged C/C++ or in .NET and would like to know of the kind of performance and responsiveness that is capable with a managed C#/.NET GUI app? Not surprisingly it looks like the fastest most responsive applications (e.g. chrome, spotify, etc) are written in unmanaged C/C++. I've had a hard time finding examples of really good .NET applications and so I would like some help. What's the best example of a fast and responsive .NET windows application?

  • Best Practice: Accessing radio button group

    Looking for the best, standards compliant, cross browser compatible, forwards compatible way to access a group of radio buttons in the DOM (this is closely related to my other most recent post...), without the use of any external libraries. <input type="radio" value="1" name="myRadios" />One<br /> <input type="radio" value="2" name="myRadios" />Two<br /> I've read conflicting information on getElementsByName(), which seems like the proper way to do this, but I'm unclear if this is a standards compliant, forwards compatible solution. Perhaps there is a better way?

    I need customers to upload files to my website and I want to gather their name or company name and attach it to the file name or create a folder on the server with that as the name so we can keep the files organized. • JQuery: can I submit values from inputs that aren't in a form?

    - by Alvaro
    Simple as that: I have some inputs that are rendered inside another form element, but I want to submit then individually. I tried "serializing" the div that contains them, but it didn't work. Is there an easy way to do this? My code: var form = $("#my_div"); var get_data = $(form).serialize(); /* Get #my_div inputs value */ $.get(self.url_form_rendering, get_data, function (data){ /* handle server response */ }) Serialize returns "", any ideas that don't involve redesigning the layout to avoid form nesting?
