    We set the Group Policy for our Domain and OUs to show the logon message: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\ Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on but nothing happen when the client computer logon. I checked the RSOP.MSC to see the group policy that set and the message is set on client computer but it doesn't show at the logon prompt. so what should I do? We have Windows server 2003 AD and Windows XP Pro on client computer.

    I recently duplicated my XP "C" drive, using Retrospect. When it finished, there were 6 errors. I checked the log and the 1st error referred to Microsoft Security Essentials\Support\Applications.etl: Appears incomplete. The other 5 errors referred to the Microsoft SQL Server.....\MSSQL\log_...trc: Appears incomplete. Is this a problem that can be solved by reinstalling Microsoft Security Essentials? Or wht else?     I get this error when I have VM running in VMWare Workstation on my work PC and try Remote Desktop-ing in from my iMac at home. I just upgraded VMWare Workstation to 7.0 from 6.0 and now I'm getting it when I try to resume my VM at work. It then asks me the scary question of whether I want to preserve or discard the suspended state. I don't want to lose stuff! ack! Update I backed up my VM and tried hitting that "discard" button and the result was a reboot of the VM. I then tried restoring to a snapshot, and none of my snapshots work! Is there anyway to fix this so I can run 7 but still have my old snapshots? The frame buffer layout of the current display cannot be made to match the frame buffer layout stored in the snapshot. The dimensions of the frame buffer in the snapshot are: Max width 3200, Max height 1770, Max size 22659072. The dimensions of the frame buffer on the current display are: Max width 3200, Max height 1600, Max size 20512768. Error encountered while trying to restore the virtual machine state from file "C:\Documents and Settings\adam\My Documents\My Virtual Machines\dev\Windows XP Professional.vmss". What do I do so I don't break things horribly?

  • Problems installing Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Content features

    I recently purchased Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 8. Photoshop Elements 8 installed fine, along with the additional material available via internet download. Premiere Elements 8 installed ok from the DVD. During the Premiere Elements 8 startup process the following message appears: A reduced set of content (Instant Movie Themes, Title and Menu Templates,etc) has been installed. To install the full content set, please insert your Content DVD and run Setup.exe. If you do not have a Content DVD please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/pre_additional_downloads to download the content installer. Since I didn't have the Content DVD, I did the download, which took nearly 12 hours. The extract appeared to complete at 100%, but then immediately gave the error message "A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder." Why would it show this error message if it had completed the extract process 100%? What step(s) do I take now to have Content installed? Do I need to go thru the 12 hour download again or, hopefully, is there something I can do that will make it unnecessary to download again?

  • Problems with image/file upload in MediaWiki on Windows 2008 Server R2, using wrong temp directory

    I have installed MediaWiki 1.15.2 under IIS as per the MediaWiki installation instructions for Windows 2008 Server. I have configured PHP to use a specific temp directory: upload_tmp_dir="C:\php\uploadtemp" I have specified that MediaWiki is allowed to upload: $wgEnableUploads = true; But when I try to upload an image, I get this error message in my browser: Internal error Could not find file "C:\Windows\Temp\php1AEA.tmp". Retrying will simply give me a new filename, but in the same location. The directory does not have any php* files in it, but since they're "temporary", they might be gone in a flash before Windows Explorer is able to show them so that might be a red herring. I've googled for this, and the most promising lead I found was on this page: Image upload problem - Is this bug fixed?, but since the text says "a bugfix was posted on the bug-report page", but provides no link to which bug page this relates to (php or mediawiki) nor the actual bug report, I've not found conclusively the bug report in question so that didn't help me much. Lots of pages indicates that this is a permission issue, so I tried setting permissions on c:\windows\temp as Modify by Everyone, still no dice. I tried changing the two system environment variables TEMP and TMP to point to C:\Temp instead, but MediaWiki still complains about not finding the file in C:\Windows\Temp. Note that I don't care a lot about where the files will actually be stored temporarily, so c:\windows\temp is fine by me. I do, however, care about them actually being uploaded correctly. Does anyone know of a fix, have any leads I can follow, or whatnot? The server is running Windows 2008 Server R2, all patches installed, and the PHP installed is 5.3.2, using IIS FastCGI.

  • Usb device not working properly on a Thinkpad T60

    I have just started getting a message that a USB device is not working properly. This is on a new Thinkpad T60 running Windows XP Professional SP3. I have had all devices attached for about 10 days or so. When I go to device manager there is no sign of a problem: everything is working correctly. I am unable to find out which device it is. I searched this forum but the only reference I found was to older computers which may not be Usb2 capable. This is not my problem. Any ideas? Thanks. EDIT: I realized I had a harddrive attached but turned off. Although I could not track down any error messages except the balloon that came up, I have disconnected it and, so far, no messages. We'll see over the next day or two, but this may be the problem. Thanks EDIT: This has not solved the problem. I get the message that one of the USB devices has malfunctioned and it points to "USB root hub (2 ports)" and shows an unused port and an unknown device. However, when I check my device manager, it says that there are no problems, everything is working as it should. ?? EDIT: I now found the event log view and there are 2 types of error messages. They do not relate to the time that I get the balloon. 2 of the 3 are "Ati2mtag" errors and the third is "System Control Manager". Are these related to my problem, and the balloon just pops up randomly? EDIT: well, I'm still having the problem, and have narrowed it down to a malfunctioning device. Thanks to all.

  • Mac and L2TP VPN no problems, xp, vista and 7 no go :s

    Hi all, I've got some weird problem and I'm out off options. The situation: When connecting from my mac to the VPN server (Windows Server 2003 R2) with L2TP PSK, everything works like it should. However, when I connect from a Windows PC, nothing happens. it spits out error 809 and sometimes 789. Now I know that my ports are OK, since the mac can connect without any problems. It's the same for: XP, Vista SP2 and 7. None can connect. If I connect to the VPN server directly (to the internal IP instead of WAN from the router), it connect's without a problem. Connecting using PPTP works... now if only L2TP would work thank you very much Windows! I have checked the counters on my linux router with iptables -L -nv and they do not raise when connecting. Not on ACCEPT and not on DROP. Only when connecting from the mac. I've found the guide from Microsoft to enable: AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule in the registery. I have set it to "2", on the server and client. Still no go. After that registery key it started giving me error 789 instead of 809. The IPSEC services are running on the client and server. Is there anyone that ppleease can help me with this! I've been working on this for 2 days and I'm out of options. Thanks!

When I run this command: /usr/bin/octbatch I get the error: Can't locate Time/Piece.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib64/perl5 /usr/local/share/perl5 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib64/perl5 /usr/share/perl5) at /usr/bin/octbatch line 6. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/octbatch line 6. Here is the relevant lines of the Perl script: #!/usr/bin/perl -wT $ENV{PATH} = "/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin"; use strict; use POSIX qw(setsid :sys_wait_h); use Time::Piece; use Time::Local; I have to install Piece.pm so perl can find it. I've already installed it with this command (using the defaults): /usr/bin/perl -MCPAN -e install Time::Piece I have the Piece.pm file in /home/el/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/ however when I run the octbatch command I get the same error as above. Like it can't even find it. Here is my PERL5LIB variable: el@defiant ~/gnuoctbluehost/single_stock_analysis $ env | grep PERL5 PERL5LIB=/home/el/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi:/home/el/perl5/lib/perl5 And the Piece.pm is located under /home/el/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi So my question is, Why is it not finding my Piece.pm file? And what are the ways I can get the @INC variable to include it. Or how do I make perl see it?

    I'm having an issue with a curious error message when accessing the administrative share on a remote machine. Specifically, the client is logged in as the domain administrator on the machine A, and runs some code that tries to access the admin share on B (a domain member). The access is done in .NET, along these lines (though I am not sure if the method of access makes a difference): string path = @"\\B\admin$"; if (Directory.Exists(path)) { try { path += @"\temp\"; if (!Directory.Exists(path)) { Directory.CreateDirectory(path); } path += "myfile_remote"; File.Copy("myfile", path); Now, on some machines this fails. That is not a big problem as we have a fallback. I'd like to know why but it is not the real issue. The problem is that running this piece of code causes a dialog box to pop up for the logged-in user on B, saying "network error trying to access \\B\admin$\temp\myfile_remote. Contact the network administrator and ask for the correct permissions". Unfortunately, it is a foreign language Windows so I'll spare you all posting a screenshot. It is skinned like a standard Windows dialog box. Why exactly is that dialog box popping up for the user and is there anything I can do about it? Edit to add: B is a Windows 7 Enterprise installation. The client is not aware of any GPO policies being installed. There is AV from Trend Micro installed.

    I have a UserControl that is part of a Class library. I reference this project from my solution. This adds a control from the referenced project to my toolbox. I add tghe control to a form. Everything looks good, I compile all and run. Perfect... But when I close the .frm with the control on it and re-open it, I get this error. The code continues to run.
