    I have UIScrollView with multiple UIVIew subviews. I would like to update the data that is displayed by each UIView when they appear in the visible portion of the UIScrollView. What is the callback that gets triggered? I tried viewWillAppear, but it does not seem to get called. Thanks. :)

  • How to deal with callback to your UIController after your UIController unloads?

    Suppose your controller is a table view and one of the cells you are going off to do a length task (say download a thumbnail) to be viewed in the cell. Typically you would have the network call do a callback to your controller when it is done downloading. The callback can then reload the table or do some other form of UI update (hides a spinner etc). However, what if the controller is unloaded? Say the user navigated away from this controller and it got released? What happens? Will the callback still work despite the controller now not in memory? Also, if the callback operates on some objects (say the UITableView) what happens when the controller is deallocated? I suppose the controller can release all the objects and the callback would just be calling methods on nil to prevent crash. But is this the convention?

  • How can I access the int values of an object in an NSMutableArray?

    I try to access some values in a NSMutableArray I created, but I only get some numbers (address?) if I try to access them. I was able to initialize an array and can add and change objects with [myNSMutableArray addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:10]] and [myNSMutableArray replaceObjectAtIndex:0 withObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:47] I also can print the value at index [0] with NSLog(@"%@", [myNSMutableArray objectAtIndex:0]); and I get 47 as expected. But how can I access the integer value of the object in the array so I can save it tomyIntValue?

    I'm trying to set up a custom delegate protocol and am getting a strange error that I don't understand. I wonder if someone could point out what I'm doing wrong here (I'm still new to Ob-C and protocol use)... The situation is that I've built my own URLLoader class to manage loading and parsing data from the internet. I'm now trying to set up a protocol for delegates to implement that will respond to the URLLoader's events.     I have ViewStubs in my layout. If I set clickable and implement the OnClickListener this does work only on the root of the element. But the layout holds parent elements, and when I click on those the click is not recognized. How do I make a full row/view of ViewStub as whole to be clickable and highlightable like a ListView elements? Also what do I have to add to get that orange highlight?

  • Saving core data in a thread, how to ensure its done writing before quitting?

    So I'm saving small images to core data which take a really short amount of time to save, like .2 seconds but I'm doing it while the user is flipping through a scroll view so in order to improve responsiveness I'm moving the saving to a thread. This works great, everything gets saved and the app is responsive. However, there is one thing in the core-data + multithreading doco that worries me: "In Cocoa, only the main thread is not-detached. If you need to save on other threads, you must write additional code such that the main thread prevents the application from quitting until all the save operation is complete." Ok, how do you do that? It only needs to last ~ .2 seconds and its rarely going to happen since the chance of the app quitting as something is saving is very low. How do I run something on the main thread that'll prevent the app from quitting AND not block the gui? Thanks

For some reason, Urban Airship is making each character of the string into its own tag. I've tried to substitute the - for a string neg with the same results. What's wrong?

  • Creating 1 page PDF of iPad Screen view - How?

    Hi All, I've asked this question on a couple other forums and have had zero response, so I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction. I have a pretty simple one screen application for my work. It's basically just a recreation of a 1 page paper report that has a company logo, some labels, a few text boxes and a scroll text box for the report. I need to be able to fill out the report then click a button to save it in a graphical form so I can fax, print or email it later. Currently, I'm just programmatically taking a screen capture and saving it to the photo's library (default for screen capture). Then I can just email it from photo's. This works ok, but is kind of hacky, at best. I've read through the new iPad 3.2 guide for creating PDF's (apparently it's supposed to be much easier than before) but I can not get it to work and I've spent countless hours on it now. I'm hoping someone has the answer for me. Alternatively, if anyone knows how I can redirect where the screen capture is stored (default is in the photo album) then maybe I can make that function work. If I could redirect the screen capture to store in my applications document folder, then I can use MFMailCompose to attach it to an email. Lastly, on a side note, does anyone know of a good way to capture a digital signature via touch. For instance, I'd love to have my users be able to just sign their name via touch at the bottom of the document before I convert to PDF or take a screen capture.     Hi, Tried posting this at android dev, wanted to go here too in case anyone knows. I'm trying to supply a custom background drawable for a dialog. I've created the following in my styles.xml file: <style name="CustomDlg" parent="@android:style/Theme.Dialog"> <item name="android:windowBackground">@drawable/my_background</item> </style> This works fine on 1.6+. On my g1 running 1.5 (and the 1.5 emulator) the drawable is used, but the area around the dialog is opaque black instead of being translucent. Is there something I'm missing here, or is this a bug with 1.5? Any work arounds? Is 1.5 just the ie6 of Android? Thanks
