    So what I want to do is, in my main layout, have a menu for logged in users, and a different for anon users. THe layout will be used on every page, so I'm not sure how to do this, as I've seen, the Auth Component can only be used in the controller, this would be nice if I had to do this in only one view, but for every view, how can I do this? Do I have to do something on AppController? What I want to do is basically // layout <?php if(logged): ?> Welcome <?php echo $user; ?> <?php else: ?> Welcom anon, Log in? <?php endif; ?>

  • boost test case for function taking user input

    I have a function that takes in user input via std::cin: std::getline(std::cin, in); and creates a corresponding data structure by matching it with a regular expression. The function then returns this data structure. I'm using boost.test and I want to create a unit test to check that the output data type is correct given some inputs. However I don't know how to go about it since the input isn't passed as an argument to the function. EDIT: Is there a simple way to create a boost test case that feeds the function a string via standard input?

    I'm trying to add a body class of 'day' if it's 6am-5pm and 'night' if "else" based on the user's local time. I tried the following but it didn't work. Any ideas?   • iPhone - At user event create objects in the view

    Hello, I am new to iPhone programming, so I think part of the problem is that I don't know what I really want to google to find my answer. I am looking for a method that allows a user to draw a line on the screen. There is no guarantee that it will be straight, it can be curved or whatever. I was thinking that I could create some small square image, and then as they draw, place them into a NSset. But I am not really sure how to communicate each new object up to the view. Up to this point, I've just been messing around with objects I put on the view and then assign movement to those, this is my first jump into on-the-fly object creation. It might be that I just need to jump into a class/object type or even a tutorial, any guidance would be great. Thanks!

    This is in regards to applications that run in the taskbar but should be applicable to standard apps, Winforms, WPF, etc. Question: I am after some method (preferably via managed code) to be notified when a user either has their screen "locked" while my app is running and/or know when they log back in. GMail Notifier does this sort of thing for example, if my PC is locked for a while when I log in again it shows a list of emails that arrived since locking the PC. I'm looking to replicate that kind of functionality. Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this?

    On this winform application I am writing, I want to secure one menu item from most users. It runs a month-end and cannot be easily backed out if accidentally run. The menu option opens up a window to prompt the user for some information before processing. I don't care where exactly I do the check, but I want to be sure only certain users can run this function. A Google search (on my question title above) didn't turn up anything obvious. Can anyone point me in a direction to pick up who is signed into Windows and how to check if they are authorized?

    I'm trying to prevent user from inserting * in a textbox. This is what I was trying to do, but here it only detects * if this is the only inserted character. For example texts like: *, etc. When allowed characters are mixed with *, then it cannot detect it.     Hi guys, I have a primary write server (server1) which replications to two servers (server2 and server3) which are query servers. I am replicating all databases to these servers including the MySQL database. When i execute a GRANT as follows replication works perfectly.. GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user1`@`host` IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; However if i did the same GRANT to alter permissions on an existing user without IDENTIFIED clause replication breaks.. Error 'Can't find any matching row in the user table' on query. Default database: 'mysql'. Query: 'GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user`@`host`' If I try and run the query manually i get the same error..   • PHP scripts owned by www-data

    I am always running php scripts on a dedicated server as user "webroot". It would be easier for coding and administration if the scripts were owned by www-data, the apache2 user. Also feels more simple and clean. There is no ftp on this box and there are no other users or sites. Why not have the php scripts owned by www-data? If there is anything against it, what is the worst that can happen?

I made this game, Forest Defender, a proof-of-feasibility little project, which I would like to share with you and collect your constructive comments, first impressions, etc. It is a the first playable (and enjoyable) game I have released to the public, so I am, naturally, very eager to get some recognition by you, as my peers. I read in a StackOverflow blog, that One of the major reasons we created Stack Overflow to give every programmer a chance to be recognized by their peers. Recognized for their knowledge, their passion, [...] It comes in the form of a Java applet, I used an animation framework called PulpCore and I must say that it's been extremely enjoyable to work with it. I do recommend to people interested in Java game development. Since the product is free, fun, entirely commercial-free and I am willing to share the code to it (on request), I thought it would be OK to post this as a topic here. I do this to avoid malware infestations during web browsing and limited user account is guarding against online threats to a good extend but many programs refuse to run under limited rights like revo uninstaller. many installs i run from limited user by selectin "run as" from right click context menu of the .exe file. but some apps need admin rights for certain. I use "switch user" to go to admin mode and do the install/uninstall. but the admin user has none of my preferences bookmarks setup nor has my locate32 indexing done and ready for fast search Is there a utility which I can use "run as" login in administration login and use that to grant my limited user admin rights for a limited amount of period like few hours or days? Please help. I guess MS might have closed many doors of it for fear of exploitation of the API. are there any?

I do not have any admin privilges at all, not even at install time, so I can't run RegAsm and I can't (I assume) write a managed add-in. Is there any way to call .Net code from VBA in this scenario, or are there any other solutions? This is for personal use only, so an ugly hack is perfectly acceptable (so long as it works)

    I have a control that goes inactive under some conditions in my iPhone app. I can [setUserInteractionEnabled: NO] on it and it doesn't respond to touches. Its appearance does not change however. Other environments I am familiar with "grey out" inactive controls. I wonder what is the idiomatic way to hint to the user that the control is inactive.
