  • Automatic Edit Photoshop Canvas Dimensions in Bulk

    On a website that I maintain I am required to edit hundreds of images to have a certain canvas size. The images come in all different shapes and sizes. I am trying to figure out a way to automatically edit them so that I dont have to write ineffective AHK scripts to do it. Is there a feature inside of Photoshop (cs3) to do this?     My Windows XP PC has stopped booting. On start up, before Windows boots a screen appears saying: Windows Could Not Boot: Could Not Find or Corrupted file <Windows root>\Sytem32\Hal.dll Please Reinstall the file... From that I understand that I have to reinstall the OS but my computer is so old that I have lost the backup and recovery disk. My Computer's Info: 32Bit Computer Pentium 4 Windows XP Service Pack 2 HP History: My Computer has 4 hard drives 2 internal 40 GB drives (C And D) 2 external 8GB drives (E And F) Additional Info: I need the files inside C And E The computer reads my flash drive as a hard drive (8.45GB)(I have never booted while my USB pluged in while I was troubleshooting) With some test I discovered that the C drive wasn't detected by the computer I have already configured the boot order of BiOS I have Set The SATA to IDE The Question: I have a setup for windows 8 32 bit how can I boot from my USB to run that setup? If that isn't the proper way to handle this problem please tell me the proper way.

    I have a software that has to call an external web API from inside our firewall. Currently the only way to do this is through the HTTP proxy feature of the firewall; however, the software itself does not support proxy configuration. So I am wondering is it possible to setup a reverse proxy for the API that goes through the HTTP proxy? The server is running WS2003. I can install any software on it.

  • Outlook is looking for a smart card

    Dell computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2003. I recently added a smart card reader to my computer for the National Guard so that I can access some military sites that require a smart card to log in. Now, every time Outlook attempts to download any mail from my civilian AT&T account (a pop e-mail server), I get a message asking me to "Insert a smart card". I've traced it to the send/receive feature (specifically receiving e-mails) but can find no reason that Outlook should be looking for a smart card.

  • Is it possible to fix photos that are taken blurred

    I took pictures with a digital camera and I didn't notice that the blur setting is on so the pictures that were taken were all blurred. The camera has no edit feature. Is it still possible to fix it using photoshop? I followed this tutorial on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpWDihBHRqM which uses photoshop but no luck. As much as possible I want to see the output that is close to a picture that is taken without the blur setting on.

  • Updating Mcafee Group Shield on Exchange Server

    So I don't actually have a problem yet, but I might. You see my fathers company have 10 computers and an exchange server with Mcafee Group Shield. lately they've had issues with mails from customers being blocked. I found both the problem and the solution: Mcafee update so basicly update their Mcafee group shield to the newest service pack and we are all back in buisness.. while I have some limited exchange experience and AD too. I don't have any Mcafee experience. I don't wanna crash their server for a week and have them need to get someone to recover it. So my question in here.. is it supposedly as easy as to click an 'update' button and to reboot your server.. or are there several issues I need to be aware about..? Maybe there is some common issue that goes with updating antivirus on an exchange server that I don't know about..

  • Minimize VirtualBox Hard Drive disk

    I have Ubuntu Server 10.04 TLS installed on a Virtual Machine in a VirtualBox. The size of the Hard Drive is dynamic growing hard drive and the maximum is 32GB. At the beginning i had 4GB on the Hard Drive and the size of the .vdi was 4GB. Lately the size of data on the disk is 15GB but the size of the .vdi is almost 32GB. Why is that? How can i pack / optimize / defrag the HD so it will be the same size of the data on the disk? Thanks.

  • Password manager bug with Firefox 3.6.13

    I'm having trouble with the latest Firefox (3.6.13) password manager. For a website I'm working on, it doesn't fill the password field for any login credential saved. I've looked into the options "Saved passwords" list and they are all there with the correct passwords. I thought at first that the website was blocking this feature in some way, but the password managers in Chrome (on the same Windows 7 machine) and Iceweasel (in a virtual Debian 6 machine) work well. Any idea about what could cause this problem?

    Any executable that I attempt to run on this laptop pops up an error stating The program can't start because LPK.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I have tried doing regsvr32 lpk.dll from within system32, but that returns the error The module "lpk.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "lpk.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. I was able to copy the DLL file from a working computer, but I get the same issue. How would I go about registering this DLL? Or, alternatively, which program would I have to reinstall to get the DLL to work again? The system is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with Service Pack 1. I would really like not to reinstall the OS, but at this point, I'm about ready to.

    The only devices on this particular LAN will all have public IP addresses. Also the public IP address will be configured directly on the machine,,, so we will not translate private/public IP addresses. If we use NAT,, we would have to translate the public IP on the WAN to the public IP on the LAN. The only security feature I expect on the gateway is an access list. I don't really know much about networking, so I am sorry if this question is generic.

    In a desktop app, I'm using Shell32 to extract Mime infos and ID3 tags. I want to do the same in ASP.Net on server side with http posted files, plus fetch some other infos, but as a Windows Server 2008, there are not several media applications installed, so I wonder if it will still retrieve a lot of informations from the files. Will it be possible to do it from server side? If yes, will it fetch several Mimes without media app installed. If not, is there some Mime pack to get some file informations without the app being installed. [EDIT] I installed VLC player and Windows Media Player on the server, which provide all MP3s / movies infos (Duration, Artist, Album, Width, Height, etc.), but I don't know if this is a good practice.

    On a friends laptop following some viruses infestations there is a problem in starting the Windows firewall. The error is: Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified When attempting to turn on automatic updates in the security centre, the message is: We're sorry. The Security Center could not change your Automatic Updates settings. To try changing these settings yourself, go to System in Control Panel. On the Automtic Updates tab, select Automatic (recommended), and then click OK. All the options under "Automatic Updates" are greyed out. I've tried the suggestions below and many others: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess.htm http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/892199 http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm I can't do a repair install because the installer doesn't detect existing versions. It's XP pro service pack 3.

When I click a link, the link is something like: a.com/something/blah.php Then moments later the url in the browser changes to something like: a.com/somethingelse/blahblah.php Is there a way with any browser (especially firefox) to have it ask me before redirecting? I have tried the 'ask me before redirecting' feature in firefox but in this case since it redirects to its own site it does not seem to work.

    One of the very few reasons I have to physically interact with my Windows Home Server is to back it up to an external hard drive, with the "Backup Server" feature. It would be more convenient to plug the external drive in to a desktop PC, and then do the backup over the network. Is there a way to do this? I've heard a little about iSCSI, but as far as I can tell it costs money, and I'm hoping for something free.

    I have a pretty big (~30GB) email archive (Outlook + Exchange: .ost file) and I would like to use the Outlook Search Feature (Windows Search technology). I would like to exclude some folders from the indexing (at least the "spam" folder!) but it seems there is no option for that in the standard configurations.     Hello , I need to know if there is anyway utility bult-in windows 2003 that I can use from the command line to download a file using only one command. Basically I know that I can download from ftp using the "ftp" utility but in order to do that I need to do first "ftp open" and then pass the other commands so it doesn't help me because I need to do perform the download only from one command. The download may be performed through http, ftp or any other protocol.   • Log all files saved on XP system.

    I have a user that frequently saves items (or even forgets to save) to places that he forgets. Usually a simple search finds them, but not always. Is there any way to log/track the most recently saved files? It would be great to be the last "saved" files as the recent documents feature is unreliable if he constantly opens documents in his search for the file he just saved. Alternatively, any ideas on how to control this situation?
