  • Core Plot: x-axis labels not plotted when using scaleToFitPlots

    - by AlexR
    Problem: I can't get Core Plot (1.1) to plot automatic labels for my x-axis when using autoscaling ([plotSpace scaleToFitPlots:[graph allPlots]). What I have tried: I changed the values for the offsets and paddings, but this did not change the result. However, when turning autoscale off (not using [plotSpace scaleToFitPlots:[graph allPlots]]and setting the y scale automatically, the automatic labeling of the x-axis works. Question: Is there a bug in Core Plot or what did I do wrong? I would appreciate any help! Thank you! This is how I have set up my chart: CPTBarPlot *barPlot = [CPTBarPlot tubularBarPlotWithColor:[CPTColor blueColor] horizontalBars:NO]; barPlot.baseValue = CPTDecimalFromInt(0); barPlot.barOffset = CPTDecimalFromFloat(0.0f); // CPTDecimalFromFloat(0.5f); barPlot.barWidth = CPTDecimalFromFloat(0.4f); barPlot.barCornerRadius = 4; barPlot.labelOffset = 5; barPlot.dataSource = self; barPlot.delegate = self; graph = [[CPTXYGraph alloc]initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; self.hostView.hostedGraph = graph; graph.paddingLeft = 40.0f; graph.paddingTop = 30.0f; graph.paddingRight = 30.0f; graph.paddingBottom = 50.0f; [graph addPlot:barPlot]; graph.plotAreaFrame.masksToBorder = NO; graph.plotAreaFrame.cornerRadius = 0.0f; graph.plotAreaFrame.borderLineStyle = borderLineStyle; double xAxisStart = 0; CPTXYAxisSet *xyAxisSet = (CPTXYAxisSet *)graph.axisSet; CPTXYAxis *xAxis = xyAxisSet.xAxis; CPTMutableLineStyle *lineStyle = [xAxis.axisLineStyle mutableCopy]; lineStyle.lineCap = kCGLineCapButt; xAxis.axisLineStyle = lineStyle; xAxis.majorTickLength = 10; xAxis.orthogonalCoordinateDecimal = CPTDecimalFromDouble(yAxisStart); xAxis.paddingBottom = 5; xyAxisSet.delegate = self; xAxis.delegate = self; xAxis.labelOffset = 0; xAxis.labelingPolicy = CPTAxisLabelingPolicyAutomatic; [plotSpace scaleToFitPlots:[graph allPlots]]; CPTMutablePlotRange *yRange = plotSpace.yRange.mutableCopy; [yRange expandRangeByFactor:CPTDecimalFromDouble(1.3)]; plotSpace.yRange = yRange; NSInteger xLength = CPTDecimalIntegerValue(plotSpace.xRange.length) + 1; plotSpace.xRange = [CPTPlotRange plotRangeWithLocation:CPTDecimalFromDouble(xAxisStart) length:CPTDecimalFromDouble(xLength)] ;

  • noob iPhone "count" frustrations!?!?!

    - by codemonkey
    Okay, I know I must be doing something incredibly stupid here. Here's the sample code (which, when executed within a viewDidLoad block silently crashes... no error output to debug console). NSMutableArray *bs = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:10]; [bs addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInteger: 2]]; NSLog(@"%@", [bs count]); [bs release]; What am I missing? Oh... and in case anyone is wondering, this code is just me trying to figure out why I can't get the count of an NSMutableArray that actually matters somewhere else in the program.

  • How to check for an active Internet Connection on iPhone SDK?

    - by Brock Woolf
    I would like to check to see if I have an Internet connection on the iPhone using the Cocoa Touch libraries. I came up with a way to do this using an NSUrl. The way I did it seems a bit unreliable (because even Google could one day be down and relying on a 3rd party seems bad) and while I could check to see for a response from some other websites if Google didn't respond, it does seem wasteful and an unnecessary overhead on my application. - (BOOL) connectedToInternet { NSString *URLString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.google.com"]]; return ( URLString != NULL ) ? YES : NO; } Is what I have done bad? (Not to mention 'stringWithContentsOfURL' is deprecated in 3.0) And if so what is a better way to accomplish this?

  • Poping multiple levels in UITableViewController

    - by LavaSlider
    I would like to be able to pop multiple views from a UITableViewController stack. For example in the Apple DrillDownSave example, when viewing Level 3 to go back to Level 1 or when viewing an Item to go back to Level 2 when a button is pushed. I tried: [self.navigationController.parentViewController.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; and [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; [self.navigationController.parentViewController.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; but these leave me the same place as just a single popViewControllerAnimated:. Is there an easy way to do this?

  • UIScrollView does not scroll

    - by Preston Cheung
    I got a problem about UIScrollView. I am making a custom view which inherits UIView. The view has a UIScrollView on which there are lots of buttons which should scroll left and right. The UIScrollView and buttons can show normally. But I cannot scroll the buttons. Could someone give me some suggestions? Thanks a lot! MZMPhotoCalenderSwitcher.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface MZMPhotoCalenderSwitcher : UIView <UIScrollViewDelegate> @property (strong, nonatomic) UIScrollView *topSwitcher; @end MZMPhotoCalenderSwitcher.m - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view. self.topSwitcher = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, LABEL_HEIGHT + VIEW_Y, self.view.bounds.size.width, TOP_SWITCHER_HEIGHT)]; self.topSwitcher.backgroundColor = [UIColor greenColor]; self.topSwitcher.pagingEnabled = YES; self.topSwitcher.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO; self.topSwitcher.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = NO; [self add:3 ButtonsOnView:self.topSwitcher withButtonWidth:44.8f andHeight:20.0f]; } - (void)add:(int)num ButtonsOnView:(UIScrollView *)view withButtonWidth:(CGFloat)width andHeight:(CGFloat)height { CGFloat totalTopSwitcherWidth = num * width; [view setContentSize:CGSizeMake(totalTopSwitcherWidth, view.bounds.size.height)]; CGFloat xOffset = 0.0f; for (int i=1; i<=num; i++) { UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; [button setFrame:CGRectMake(xOffset, 0, width, height)]; xOffset += width; [button setTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", i] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; button.titleLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:10]; [button setTitleColor:[UIColor blueColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button setTitleColor:[UIColor blackColor] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; [button setTag:i]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonEvent) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; if (i % 2 == 0) [button setBackgroundColor:[UIColor yellowColor]]; else [button setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]]; [view addSubview:button]; } }

  • EXC_MEMORY_ACCESS when trying to delete from Core Data ($cash solution)

    - by llloydxmas
    I have an application that downloads an xml file, parses the file, and creates core data objects while doing so. In the parse code I have a function called 'emptydatacontext' that removes all items from Core Data before creating replacements items from the xml data. This method looks like this: -(void) emptyDataContext { NSFetchRequest * allCon = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [allCon setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Condition" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]]; NSError * error = nil; NSArray * conditions = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:allCon error:&error]; DebugLog(@"ERROR: %@",error); DebugLog(@"RETRIEVED: %@", conditions); [allCon release]; for (NSManagedObject * condition in conditions) { [managedObjectContext deleteObject:condition]; } // Update the data model effectivly removing the objects we removed above. //NSError *error; if (![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { DebugLog(@"%@", [error domain]); } } The first time this runs it deletes all objects and functions as it should - creating new objects from the xml file. I created a 'update' button that starts the exact same process of retrieving the file the proceeding with the parse & build. All is well until its time to delete the core data objects. This 'deleteObject' call creates a "EXC_BAD_ACCESS" error each time. This only happens on the second time through. Captured errors return null. If I log the 'conditions' array I get a list of NSManagedObjects on the first run. On the second this log request causes a crash exactly as the deleteObject call does. I have a feeling it is something very simple I'm missing or not doing correctly to cause this behavior. The data works great on my tableviews - its only when trying to update I get the crashes. I have spent days & days on this trying numerous alternative methods. Whats left of my hair is falling out. I'd be willing to ante up some cash for anyone willing to look at my code and see what I'm doing wrong. Just need to get past this hurdle. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Comparing floats in their bit representations

    - by sczizzo
    Say I want a function that takes two floats (x and y), and I want to compare them using not their float representation but rather their bitwise representation as a 32-bit unsigned int. That is, a number like -495.5 has bit representation 0b11000011111001011100000000000000 or 0xC3E5C000 as a float, and I have an unsigned int with the same bit representation (corresponding to a decimal value 3286614016, which I don't care about). Is there any easy way for me to perform an operation like <= on these floats using only the information contained in their respective unsigned int counterparts?

  • Trying to trigger php script, get EXC_BAD_ACCESS iPhone development

    - by Brennan Kastner
    This below is my code, when it gets to the end of the function, the debugger throws an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error and when I check the website's logs, the url was never visited. If anyone could help me fix this issue, it would be greatly appreciated: -(IBAction)submitEmail:(id)sender { NSString *urlStringRaw = [[NSString alloc] init]; urlStringRaw = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://vedev.org/AnonMail/sendEmail.php?from=%@&to=%@&subject=%@&body=%@", from.text, to.text, subject.text, bodyContent.text]; NSString *urlString = [urlStringRaw stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [urlStringRaw release]; NSURL * url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; [urlString release]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [url release]; NSURLConnection *connection = [NSURLConnection connectionWithRequest:requestObj delegate:nil]; [connection release]; [requestObj release]; }

  • How to call another class's method from my app delegate

    - by Jared
    I have an application that utilizes UILocalNotifications to pop-up UIAlertViews. When the notification fires, the user chooses to go into the app, and this method is called from my app delegate: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {...} Where I can handle it and where I also prompt another alertview for more information. So when the app launches, it is displaying view A, and then the alertview pops up and prompts for input. This alertview, however, is originating from my app delegate. I need to be able to reload view A when the user hits Yes/No on the alertview. How can I do that from within my app delegate? Any help is appreciated!!

  • How do I convert a NSString into TIS-620 encoded string

    - by MacPC
    In the apple document, I can see that there's a way to convert from UTF8 string to ASCII string like this NSData *asciiData = [theString dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *asciiString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:asciiData encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; But my app requires a TIS-620 string to post to a site so I try to do the same thing NSData *asciiData = [newPost.header dataUsingEncoding:kCFStringEncodingMacThai allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *asciiString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:asciiData encoding:kCFStringEncodingMacThai]; NSLog(@"%@", asciiString); The output I got is like this ???????????. Does anyone know how to convert the NSString to TIS-620 properly? Thanks so much.

  • Multiple View application and Navigation Bar

    - by byronh
    Hi. I'm working in a iphone view-based application. The application works this way: First view is a welcome view with buttons for load other views. Second view is a map that shows the location using gps. Third view is a search engine that loads some information to show on the map and on a list (This has two button to load map or table). Fourth view is a table view that shows the results and then loads the detail on another view and load a web site on another view. My problem is with this view, because i don't know how can implement a navigation bar in this view that loads the detail and the web view. Thanks for your help. Byron H.

  • UIView as dictionary key?

    - by subw
    I want to have a NSDictionary that maps from UIViews to something else. However, since UIViews do not implement the NSCopying protocol, I can't use them directly as dictionary keys.

  • className method?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I have just been watching the Stanford iPhone lecture online from Jan 2010 and I noticed that the guy from Apple keeps referring to getting an objects class name using "className" e.g. NSArray *myArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"ONE", @"TWO", nil]; NSLog(@"I am an %@ and have %d items", [myArray className], [myArray count]); However, I can't get this to work, the closest I can come up with it to use class, is className wrong, did it get removed, just curious? NSArray *myArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"ONE", @"TWO", nil]; NSLog(@"I am an %@ and have %d items", [myArray class], [myArray count]); Gary

  • Can't find momd file: Core Data problems

    - by thekevinscott
    Aw geez! I screwed something up! I'm a Core Data noob, working on my first iOS app. After much Stack Overflowing I'm using this code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"momd"]; if (!path) { path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"mom"]; } NSAssert(path != nil, @"Unable to find Resource in main bundle"); CoreData is the name of my app. I've tried to put in initial data into the app by finding the path to the sqlite file in my iPhone simulator, and then going and inserting into that sqlite file. But at some point, I moved the sqlite (thinking it would create a fresh copy), deleted the app from the simulator, and the sqlite file is gone. I'm not sure if I'm leaving out some part of the process (this was a few hours ago) but the end result is that everything is screwed up. How do I resubstantiate this sqlite / momd file? "Clean" and "Clean all targets" are grayed out. I'm happy to post the relevant code from my app that would help shed some light on this problem but there's tons of code relating to Core Data which I don't understand, so I'm not sure what part to post! Any help is greatly appreciated.

    - by ncohen
    Hi everyone, Let say I have an entity user which has a one to many relationship with the entity menu which has a one to many relationship with the entity meal which has a many to one relationship with the entity recipe which has a one to many relationship with the entity element. What I would like to do is to select the elements which belong to a particular user (username = myUsername) and particular menu*s* (minDate < menu.date < maxDate). Does anyone have an idea how to get them? Thanks
