    I am resusing ImageViews for my displays, but at some point I don't have values to put it. So how to clear an ImageView in Android? I've tried: mPhotoView.invalidate(); mPhotoView.setImageBitmap(null); None of them have cleared the view, it still shows previous image.

    Hi! Maybe I´m just stupid but I cant understand why this isnt working. I want to achieve a little animation when I'm entering editing mode within a UITableView. [super setEditing:NO animated:YES]; [myTable setEditing:NO animated:YES]; [myTable reloadData]; [self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem setTitle:@"Edit"]; [self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem setStyle:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain]; Shouldnt this animated:YES suppose to animated this entering of the editmode?     The UINavigationBar and UISearchBar both have a tintColor property that allows you to change the tint color (surprising, I know) of both of those items. I want to do the same thing to the UITabBar in my application, but have found now way to change it from the default black color. Any ideas?

  • How much difference you find between scrollview offset and contentview offset of table?

    Hi all, In my application, I want to detect the end of the entire table with scrollview. Since there're no sections in my scrollview, I'm using noOfRows*rowHeight to reach the end. I'm using scrollview.contentOffset.y to detect the y offset, but this contentOffset isn't matching the multiplication result i.e. I have 20 rows and with height as 250. So it comes as 5000, but my scrollview.offset.y at the end of last cell is nearly about 4650. What's this difference? Thanx in advance.

  • iPhone Push Notification Reliablity

    How reliable do you find push notification on the iPhone to be? Does it improve when moving from the sandbox to production server? I am testing (with the sandbox of course) and have found that notifications are often delayed or not received at all. I am not talking about sending multiple messages and only the last one arriving, as the documentation indicates, but any notification never showing up. Also, I noticed that if I send a notification with an alert, and then send one with just a badge number, that the second notification will close the alert even after it's already opened. Does this happen between apps as well? For instance, if I send an alert for my app, and then the Facebook app sends a badge, will the Facebook badge close my alert window?

    My iPad app was working fine until I opened up IB and started editing the interface. Now, my application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions isn't getting called. I understand it's an optional function and it gets skipped if it doesn't exist, but in my case it does. What are some reasons that application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method could get skipped?     Hi, I am building an iPhone Utility app that uses UIImageView to display an animation. Within the MainViewController's viewDidLoad() method, I am creating an instance of a CustomClass, and then setting up the animations: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; cc = [CustomClass new]; NSArray * imageArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: [UIImage imageNamed:@"image-1-off.jpg"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"image-2-off.jpg"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"image-3-off.jpg"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"image-4-off.jpg"], nil]; offSequence = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; offSequence.animationImages = imageArray; offSequence.animationDuration = .8; offSequence.contentMode = UIViewContentModeBottomLeft; [self.view addSubview:offSequence]; [offSequence startAnimating]; } That works fine. However, I would like to be able to move all the above code that sets up the UIImageView into my CustomClass. The problem is in the second to last line: [self.view addSubview:offSequence]; I basically need to replace 'self' with a reference to the MainControllerView, so I can call addSubview from within my CustomClass. I tried creating an instance var of CustomClass called mvc and a setter method that takes a reference to the MainViewController as an argument as such: - (void) setMainViewController: (MainViewController *) the_mvc { mvc = the_mvc; } And then I called it within MainViewController like so: [cc setMainController:MainViewController:self]; But this yields all sorts of errors which I can post here, but it strikes me that I may be overcomplicating this. Is there an easier way to reference the MainViewController that instanatiated my CustomClass?

    I am using android 2.3 on Nexus S and want to get orientation from gyroscope sensor events. As gyro gives angular velocity how to use this for getting device orientation ? Also is there any way we can get pure linear accelerations on phone's axis, without gravity vector. I expected this from Linear acceleration sensor event but just found a post and referred android source as well for Sensor which currently uses only accelerometer. So what's the best way to combine the readings from both hardware to get pure accelerations without gravity inclusions ? Thanks.

    I have a settings bundle, working perfectly, that I would like to customize a bit. I have, among other things, a PSSliderSpecifier and a PSTitleValueSpecifier. What I would like to do is change the value of the PSTitleValueSpecifier to show the current value of the slider, preferably updating every time the slider's value changes (Actually, what I'd like even more would be displaying the slider's value on the same row as the slider). I know the settings bundle is rather strict about what you're allowed to do in it, but is there any way of doing this?

    I'm getting some data from the web service and saving it in the core data. This workflow looks like this: get xml feed go over every item in that feed, create a new ManagedObject for every feed item download some big binary data for every item and save it into ManagedObject call [managedObjectContext save:] Now, the problem is of course the performance - everything runs on the main thread. I'd like to re-factor as much as possible to another thread, but I'm not sure where I should start. Is it OK to put everything (1-4) to the separate thread?

Anyway... background is a UIImageView background.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"greenbackground.png"]; Do I have to release background? I never alloced it and it's not set as a property, so I'm thinking no.

  • Core Data and Relationships

    I have two objects, a Trip and a Place. A Trip represents a journey from one Place to another Place, ie. a Trip needs a fromPlace and a toPlace. So, this is a 1-to-2 relationship, but I need to know which is the "from" and which is the "to". I am not sure how to model this in Core Data. I have created two entities (Trip, Place), and now I want to setup the relationship(s) so I have a fromPlace and a toPlace. Do I need to add an extra field on the Place entity called isFrom, or similar? If this was in a database, I would just have a id column on the Place table, and then two columns in the Trip table - fromPlaceId and toPlaceId. How do I achieve something similar in Core Data?

  • How to prevent modal view controllers flashing when changing

    I have three view controllers, let's call them A, B and C. When a button is pressed on view A, view B is shown using presentModalViewController:animated: When the finish button is pressed on screen B, it dismisses itself. View A is notified whereupon it immediately shows view C, again using presentModalViewController:animated: The problem is that view A's content is momentarily flashed on the screen between view B closing and view C opening. I can get around this by making view A blank and moving it's current content to a new view, D. (For various reasons, I don't want view B to own view C, that's why it's not opening it) Am I over-complicating this? I'm sure there is a smarter way to go? ThanksT

    I'm looking to create AVDs to test my apps on, and i'm trying to figure out the correct settings for a square screen such as the new Motorola Flip Out. I don't see a wikipedia article for it, or many specs... On a related note, what about tablets? Actually.. Why aren't there a set of AVD instances with params from popular devices.. or at least a site that lists them for each of the 60+ devices. Thanks in advance :)

  • xcode collect2: ld returned 1 exit status - how to resolve?

    From what I have read this is supposed to be when the linker (not exactly sure how that works) can't find a symbol. the symbol in question is: SCNetworkReachabilityCreateWithAddress as can be seen from the full error message below. the thing is that the correct framework is added to my target. xcode recognises the symbol OK, i.e. there is no error message in the .m file. the .m file is added to the correct target so I'm not at all sure what to do. Any ideas please? "SCNetworkReachabilityCreateWithAddress", referenced from: -[AppWelcomeVC viewDidLoad] in AppWelcomeVC.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

  • How do I push another viewController onto the navigationController from within a tabviewController?

    Hi, I have a project set up using these two tutorials. http://twilloapp.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-embed-navigation-controller.html and the link for the second tutorial is at the bottom of the first. The tutorial is slightly outdated but I managed to get it to work as advertised. Now I want to push a new detailedView onto the NavigationController when a user touches a row in the table view. So I added this to my MyTableViewController.m file. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. SecondViewController *detailViewController = [[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondViewController.xib" bundle:nil]; // ... // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailViewController animated:YES]; [detailViewController release]; } Now when I run this project and touch a row in my table view I am getting an error: asm_Terminating_due_to_uncaught_exception IT seems to be having an issue loading the SecondViewController from nib, however I checked the detailViewController and it is not nil. I know I am missing something and it is more than likely something simple. Please help. Thanks, Bruce

    I am developing an iPhone application for jail broken phones and in this application I would like to fetch user's phone number. I have gone through the entire stackoverflow.com and found some relevant answers but all of them are obsolete and doesn't work with iOS 4.0 anymore. The most famous solution for this problem is NSString *num = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"SBFormattedPhoneNumber"]; but as I mentioned this solution no more works with iOS 4.0 As my application is intended towards the jail broken phones and not intended the Apple app store so I am not worried about my app rejection, hence any private API will also work for me. Also please let me know if we can fetch IMSI number from SIM using any private APIs of iPhone
