  • Saving child collections with NHibernate

    - by Ben
Hi, I am in the process or learning NHibernate so bare with me. I have an Order class and a Transaction class. Order has a one to many association with transaction. The transaction table in my database has a not null constraint on the OrderId foreign key. Order class: public class Order { public virtual Guid Id { get; set; } public virtual DateTime CreatedOn { get; set; } public virtual decimal Total { get; set; } public virtual ICollection<Transaction> Transactions { get; set; } public Order() { Transactions = new HashSet<Transaction>(); } } Order Mapping: <class name="Order" table="Orders"> <cache usage="read-write"/> <id name="Id"> <generator class="guid"/> </id> <property name="CreatedOn" type="datetime"/> <property name="Total" type="decimal"/> <set name="Transactions" table="Transactions" lazy="false" inverse="true"> <key column="OrderId"/> <one-to-many class="Transaction"/> </set> Transaction Class: public class Transaction { public virtual Guid Id { get; set; } public virtual DateTime ExecutedOn { get; set; } public virtual bool Success { get; set; } public virtual Order Order { get; set; } } Transaction Mapping: <class name="Transaction" table="Transactions"> <cache usage="read-write"/> <id name="Id" column="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid"/> </id> <property name="ExecutedOn" type="datetime"/> <property name="Success" type="bool"/> <many-to-one name="Order" class="Order" column="OrderId" not-null="true"/> Really I don't want a bidirectional association. There is no need for my transaction objects to reference their order object directly (I just need to access the transactions of an order). However, I had to add this so that Order.Transactions is persisted to the database: Repository: public void Update(Order entity) { using (ISession session = NHibernateHelper.OpenSession()) { using (ITransaction transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { session.Update(entity); foreach (var tx in entity.Transactions) { tx.Order = entity; session.SaveOrUpdate(tx); } transaction.Commit(); } } } My problem is that this will then issue an update for every transaction on the order collection (regardless of whether it has changed or not). What I was trying to get around was having to explicitly save the transaction before saving the order and instead just add the transactions to the order and then save the order: public void Can_add_transaction_to_existing_order() { var orderRepo = new OrderRepository(); var order = orderRepo.GetById(new Guid("aa3b5d04-c5c8-4ad9-9b3e-9ce73e488a9f")); Transaction tx = new Transaction(); tx.ExecutedOn = DateTime. Now; tx.Success = true; order.Transactions.Add(tx); orderRepo.Update(order); } Although I have found quite a few articles covering the set up of a one-to-many association, most of these discuss retrieving of data and not persisting back. Many thanks, Ben

  • I'm looking for this graph solution

    - by Ben Fransen
    Hello all, Recently I found a pretty graph when I was browsing the adminskins at ThemeForest and in one of the templates I found a really nice, smooth, clean graph. But I've searching arround but so far without luck finding out which solution is used. And example can be found at: http://enstyled.com/adminus/original/page.html The source of this graph looks like: <table class="stats bar" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <thead> <tr> <td>&nbsp;</td> <th scope="col">02.09</th> <th scope="col">03.09</th> <th scope="col">04.09</th> <th scope="col">05.09</th> <th scope="col">06.09</th> <th scope="col">07.09</th> <th scope="col">08.09</th> <th scope="col">09.09</th> <th scope="col">10.09</th> <th scope="col">11.09</th> <th scope="col">12.09</th> <th scope="col">01.10</th> <th scope="col">02.10</th> <th scope="col">03.10</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <th scope="row">Page views</th> <td>1800</td> <td>900</td> <td>700</td> <td>1200</td> <td>600</td> <td>2800</td> <td>3200</td> <td>500</td> <td>2200</td> <td>1000</td> <td>1200</td> <td>700</td> <td>650</td> <td>800</td> </tr> <tr> <th scope="row">Unique visitors</th> <td>1600</td> <td>650</td> <td>550</td> <td>900</td> <td>500</td> <td>2300</td> <td>2700</td> <td>350</td> <td>1700</td> <td>600</td> <td>1000</td> <td>500</td> <td>400</td> <td>700</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Can someone please tell me which graphingsolution is used here? • SQLAuthority News – Presented Soft Skill Session on Presentation Skills at SQL Bangalore on May 3, 2014

    - by Pinal Dave
I have presented on various database technologies for almost 10 years now. SQL, Database and NoSQL have been part of my life. Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to present on the topic Performing an Effective Presentation. I must say it was blast to prepare as well as present this session. This event was part of the SQL Bangalore community. If you are in Bangalore, you must be part of this group. SQL Bangalore is a wonderful community and we always have a great response when we present on technology. It is SQL User Group and we discuss everything SQL there. This month we had SQL Server 2014 theme and we had a community launch of SQL Server. We have the best of the best speakers presenting on SQL Server 2014 technology. The event had amazing speakers and each of them did justice to the subject. You can read about this over here. In this session I told a story from my life. I talked about who inspired me and how I learned to speak in public. I told stories about two legends  who have inspired me. There is no video recording of this session. If you want to get resources from this session, please sign up my newsletter at http://bit.ly/sqllearn. Well, I had a great time at this event. We had over 250 people showed up at this event and had a grand  time together. I personally enjoyed a session of Amit Benerjee, Balmukund Lakhani and Vinod Kumar. Ken and Surabh also entertained the audience. Overall, this was a grand event and if you were in Bangalore and did not make it to this event. You did miss out on a few things. The way we work and connect with our customers is changing dramatically and this means re-thinking how we secure the interaction and enable the experience. Work is an activity not a place - mobile access enables employees to work from any device anywhere and anytime. Organizations are utilizing "flash teams" - instead of a dedicated group to solve problems, organizations utilize more cross-functional teams. Work is now social - email collaboration will be replaced by dynamic social media style interaction. In this session, we will examine these three secular trends and discuss how organizations can secure the work experience and adapt audit controls to address the "new work order". • Server hard disk read speed and client download speed, is there a connection? [closed]

    - by Mywiki Witwiki
Ok so a client's download speed is only as fast as a server's upload speed, and vice versa. Based on the answers to this post: Does upload speed depend upon download speed of the server? In other words, the data transfer rate between the two computers is only as fast as the speed of the "bottleneck". Let's pretend the two computers are in two different networks and both have 100Mbps internet connection. Ben wants a copy of a file in Mark's computer hard disk with 30Mbps read speed. Does this mean that Ben can download the file at a speed of around 30Mbps only, despite having an internet connection faster than 30Mbps?

  • Android AppWidget TextView: How to set background color programmaticly

    - by Amit
I am trying to create an AppWidget, in which the background color of a TextView changes at random at specified periodic interval. The TextView is defined in layout xml file as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/widget" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/message" android:background="#ff99ff" android:text="Hello Widget" /> </LinearLayout> In update method, i have loaded the layout as RemoteViews remoteView=new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(),R.layout.widget_message); To change the background of TextView i used the following statement remoteView.setInt(R.id.message, "setBackgroundResource", R.color.col_1); But i am getting a widget saying problem loading widget. If i remove the above line everything works fine. LogCat says: updateAppWidget couldn't find any view, using error view android.widget.RemoteViews$ActionException: view: android.widget.TextView can't use method with RemoteViews: setBackgroundResource(int)

  • Class Mapping Error: 'T' must be a non-abstract type with a public parameterless constructor

    - by Amit Ranjan
Hi, While mapping class i am getting error 'T' must be a non-abstract type with a public parameterless constructor in order to use it as parameter 'T' in the generic type or method. Below is my SqlReaderBase Class public abstract class SqlReaderBase<T> : ConnectionProvider { #region Abstract Methods protected abstract string commandText { get; } protected abstract CommandType commandType { get; } protected abstract Collection<IDataParameter> GetParameters(IDbCommand command); **protected abstract MapperBase<T> GetMapper();** #endregion #region Non Abstract Methods /// <summary> /// Method to Execute Select Queries for Retrieveing List of Result /// </summary> /// <returns></returns> public Collection<T> ExecuteReader() { //Collection of Type on which Template is applied Collection<T> collection = new Collection<T>(); // initializing connection using (IDbConnection connection = GetConnection()) { try { // creates command for sql operations IDbCommand command = connection.CreateCommand(); // assign connection to command command.Connection = connection; // assign query command.CommandText = commandText; //state what type of query is used, text, table or Sp command.CommandType = commandType; // retrieves parameter from IDataParameter Collection and assigns it to command object foreach (IDataParameter param in GetParameters(command)) command.Parameters.Add(param); // Establishes connection with database server connection.Open(); // Since it is designed for executing Select statements that will return a list of results // so we will call command's execute reader method that return a Forward Only reader with // list of results inside. using (IDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader()) { try { // Call to Mapper Class of the template to map the data to its // respective fields MapperBase<T> mapper = GetMapper(); collection = mapper.MapAll(reader); } catch (Exception ex) // catch exception { throw ex; // log errr } finally { reader.Close(); reader.Dispose(); } } } catch (Exception ex) { throw ex; } finally { connection.Close(); connection.Dispose(); } } return collection; } #endregion } What I am trying to do is , I am executine some command and filling my class dynamically. The class is given below: namespace FooZo.Core { public class Restaurant { #region Private Member Variables private int _restaurantId = 0; private string _email = string.Empty; private string _website = string.Empty; private string _name = string.Empty; private string _address = string.Empty; private string _phone = string.Empty; private bool _hasMenu = false; private string _menuImagePath = string.Empty; private int _cuisine = 0; private bool _hasBar = false; private bool _hasHomeDelivery = false; private bool _hasDineIn = false; private int _type = 0; private string _restaurantImagePath = string.Empty; private string _serviceAvailableTill = string.Empty; private string _serviceAvailableFrom = string.Empty; public string Name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; } } public string Address { get { return _address; } set { _address = value; } } public int RestaurantId { get { return _restaurantId; } set { _restaurantId = value; } } public string Website { get { return _website; } set { _website = value; } } public string Email { get { return _email; } set { _email = value; } } public string Phone { get { return _phone; } set { _phone = value; } } public bool HasMenu { get { return _hasMenu; } set { _hasMenu = value; } } public string MenuImagePath { get { return _menuImagePath; } set { _menuImagePath = value; } } public string RestaurantImagePath { get { return _restaurantImagePath; } set { _restaurantImagePath = value; } } public int Type { get { return _type; } set { _type = value; } } public int Cuisine { get { return _cuisine; } set { _cuisine = value; } } public bool HasBar { get { return _hasBar; } set { _hasBar = value; } } public bool HasHomeDelivery { get { return _hasHomeDelivery; } set { _hasHomeDelivery = value; } } public bool HasDineIn { get { return _hasDineIn; } set { _hasDineIn = value; } } public string ServiceAvailableFrom { get { return _serviceAvailableFrom; } set { _serviceAvailableFrom = value; } } public string ServiceAvailableTill { get { return _serviceAvailableTill; } set { _serviceAvailableTill = value; } } #endregion public Restaurant() { } } } For filling my class properties dynamically i have another class called MapperBase Class with following methods: public abstract class MapperBase<T> where T : new() { protected T Map(IDataRecord record) { T instance = new T(); string fieldName; PropertyInfo[] properties = typeof(T).GetProperties(); for (int i = 0; i < record.FieldCount; i++) { fieldName = record.GetName(i); foreach (PropertyInfo property in properties) { if (property.Name == fieldName) { property.SetValue(instance, record[i], null); } } } return instance; } public Collection<T> MapAll(IDataReader reader) { Collection<T> collection = new Collection<T>(); while (reader.Read()) { collection.Add(Map(reader)); } return collection; } } There is another class which inherits the SqlreaderBaseClass called DefaultSearch. Code is below public class DefaultSearch: SqlReaderBase<Restaurant> { protected override string commandText { get { return "Select Name from vw_Restaurants"; } } protected override CommandType commandType { get { return CommandType.Text; } } protected override Collection<IDataParameter> GetParameters(IDbCommand command) { Collection<IDataParameter> parameters = new Collection<IDataParameter>(); parameters.Clear(); return parameters; } protected override MapperBase<Restaurant> GetMapper() { MapperBase<Restaurant> mapper = new RMapper(); return mapper; } } But whenever I tried to build , I am getting error 'T' must be a non-abstract type with a public parameterless constructor in order to use it as parameter 'T' in the generic type or method. Even T here is Restaurant has a Parameterless Public constructor.

  • Java Process "The pipe has been ended" problem

    - by Amit Kumar
I am using Java Process API to write a class that receives binary input from the network (say via TCP port A), processes it and writes binary output to the network (say via TCP port B). I am using Windows XP. The code looks like this. There are two functions called run() and receive(): run is called once at the start, while receive is called whenever there is a new input received via the network. Run and receive are called from different threads. The run process starts an exe and receives the input and output stream of the exe. Run also starts a new thread to write output from the exe on to the port B. public void run() { try { Process prc = // some exe is `start`ed using ProcessBuilder OutputStream procStdIn = new BufferedOutputStream(prc.getOutputStream()); InputStream procStdOut = new BufferedInputStream(prc.getInputStream()); Thread t = new Thread(new ProcStdOutputToPort(procStdOut)); t.start(); prc.waitFor(); t.join(); procStdIn.close(); procStdOut.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); printError("Error : " + e.getMessage()); } } The receive forwards the received input from the port A to the exe. public void receive(byte[] b) throws Exception { procStdIn.write(b); } class ProcStdOutputToPort implements Runnable { private BufferedInputStream bis; public ProcStdOutputToPort(BufferedInputStream bis) { this.bis = bis; } public void run() { try { int bytesRead; int bufLen = 1024; byte[] buffer = new byte[bufLen]; while ((bytesRead = bis.read(buffer)) != -1) { // write output to the network } } catch (IOException ex) { Logger.getLogger().log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } } The problem is that I am getting the following stack inside receive() and the prc.waitfor() returns immediately afterwards. The line number shows that the stack is while writing to the exe. The pipe has been ended java.io.IOException: The pipe has been ended at java.io.FileOutputStream.writeBytes(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.write(FileOutputStream.java:260) at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.write(BufferedOutputStream.java:105) at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.flushBuffer(BufferedOutputStream.java:65) at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.write(BufferedOutputStream.java:109) at java.io.FilterOutputStream.write(FilterOutputStream.java:80) at xxx.receive(xxx.java:86) Any advice about this will be appreciated.

  • Quartz scheduler is failing to start the cron job

    - by Amit
Hi I am using Quartz scheduler to trigger a cron which needs to perform a host of activities. My Code for the same is as follow: In the init() method of my InitServlet class, I am defining my TimerServer public class InitServlet extends HttpServlet { public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException { try { System.out.println("Starting the CRON"); //Set the DSO Handler CRON TimerServer task = TimerServer.getInstance(); task.setTask(); } catch (Exception ex) { System.out.println("Failed to start the cron"); ex.printStackTrace(); } } In my TimerServer class I have the following methods public void setTask() { try{ this.setSubscriptionDailyJob(); } catch(SchedulerException ex) { log.error("SchedulerException: "+ex.getMessage(), ex); } private void setSubscriptionDailyJob() throws SchedulerException { log.info("Step 1 "); Scheduler scheduler = schedulerFactory.getScheduler(); log.info("Step 2 "); JobDetail subscriptionJob = new JobDetail("subscription", "subscriptiongroup", SubscriptionDaily.class); log.info("Step 3 "); // Initiate CronTrigger with its name and group name CronTrigger subscriptionCronTrigger = new CronTrigger("subscriptionCronTrigger", "subscriptionTriggerGroup"); try { log.info("Subscription cron: "+Constants.SUBSCRIPTION_CRON); // setup CronExpression CronExpression cexp = new CronExpression(Constants.SUBSCRIPTION_CRON); // Assign the CronExpression to CronTrigger subscriptionCronTrigger.setCronExpression(cexp); } catch (Exception ex) { log.warn("Exception: "+ex.getMessage(), ex); } scheduler.scheduleJob(subscriptionJob, subscriptionCronTrigger); scheduler.start(); } In my SubscriptionDaily class : public class SubscriptionDaily implements Job { public void execute(JobExecutionContext arg0) throws JobExecutionException { //Actions to be performed } } Now checking my logs, I am getting Step 1, Step 2 but not further. My code is getting stucked at the TimerServer class itself.
