  • Faye private pub web sockets Errno::ECONNREFUSED: Connection refused - connect(2)

    Faye private pub has issues connecting. It works from rails console and from inside application. It fails when called from background process like delayed_job or sidekiq. I have been unable to resolve this issue for some time now, does anyone know why this happens?   • Allowing non-admin users to unstick the print spooler

    I currently have an issue where the print que is getting stuck on a central print server (windows server 2008). Using the "Clear all documents" function does not clear it and gets stuck too. I need non-admin users to be able to clear the print cue from there work stations. I have tried using the following winforms program which I created and allows a user to stop the print spooler, delete printer files in the "C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder" and then start the print spooler but this functionality requires the program to be runs as an administrator, how can I allow my normal users to execute this program without giving them admin privileges? Or is there another way I can allow normal user to clear the print que on the server?   • Customizing post-commit messages in svn for different users

    I have an svn repository that users can access (read/write) using their account OR via tunneling over ssh with svnserve. I also have a post-commit hook that sends mails to specific users for different projects via svnnotify: the typical command is svnnotify <params> --to-regex-map <list of email IDs> <regex> For users who have accounts on the system, the notification email is sent from @machine.domain, which is fine. For users coming in via tunnelling, the email gets sent from @machine.domain, which is a fake address since these users don't have an account - the only reason I specify a tunnel-user id is to keep track of who made which update. So my question (finally) is: is there a way to pass a parameter (the "true" email address) to svnserve so that when the post-commit mail is sent, it can be sent "from" the correct email address ? p.s this is my first post here - if I haven't provided sufficient information, apologies: I'm happy to provide more details.

  • exchange 2007 - non email users in the GAL

    We have a fairly new Exchange 2007 SP2 install with some GAL issues - basically when you browse the GAL from Outlook 2007 there are users listed that are not email users. If you look in Exchange under recipient configuration these users don't exist. They're AD users, but were never configured in Exchange, yet for some reason they show up in the GAL. The GAL seems to update correctly if new users are added or existing accounts are modified. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this? I have other Exchange 2007 installs that are fine and don't have this issue. This install was completely clean, no migration or anything of that nature.

  • Allow certain users to access a specific directory?

    I'm trying to figure out how to allow certain users who are also me to access a directory of files that I want to use for all of my users. I'm using cPanel and I used WHM to create three separate accounts. The files I want to use are on account1 in the directory /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and I want the directory /home/account2/public_html/source/engines to use the same exact files without having to upload them to both places every time I change them, so I created a simple symbolic link and added account2 to the group account1 (while still keeping its own group as the primary). It still gives me a Permission Denied error though. Is there any way I can grant account2 and other accounts that I create for myself access to those files? I don't want them to be global to all users because I don't want my hosted users to be able to access them, only my users. groups account1 returns account1 : account1 groups account2 returns account2 : account2 account1 /home/account1/public_html/source/engines and all its files belongs to account1:account1 Any other information you might need just ask.

    I want to let my IAM users to setup their own MFA devices, through the console, is there a single policy that I can use to achieve this? So far I can achieve this through a number of IAM policies, letting them list all mfa devices and list users (so that they can find themselves in the IAM console and ... I am basically looking for a more straight forward way of controlling this. I should add that my IAM users are trusted users, so I don't have to (although it will be quite nice) lock them down to the minimum possible, so if they can see a list of all users that is ok.

    I am trying to get all users of particular notebooks to make the users h drive offline. i know you can do it manually but is there a way to set this value somewhere so that users dont have to do it themselves? I am running 2008r2 domain controllers and windows 7 clients. I have folder redirection enabled but i want to make the users h: available to them when they are offline. I know the group policies are located in the computer configurationPoliciesadministrative templatesNetwork but there doesnt seem to be any place to select which folders/drives will be offline files without a users input. Even if there is another method not through GP. Thanks

  • Easily manage vsftpd virtual users?

    I have a vsftpd server configured with many virtual users. logins are stored in a Berkeley DB file One configuration file exists for each user to define his permissions (read-only or read-write, home directory, etc.). To do that, I use the user_config_dir parameter (set in vsftpd.conf). I am wondering if it would be possible to manage these virtual users from a simple GUI (such as web interface). I have found some tools but they are limited to generic vsftpd configuration, not virtual users management. Otherwise, PAM-MySQL seems to be a good way to manage users efficiently but only username/password and logs can be stored in database, not permissions. Finally, I've found this thread, but the solution is a bit awkward... Is there any way to easily manage the vsftpd users ?

    Possible Duplicate: Migrating users and mailboxes from postfix / Maildir to Postfix with Mysql backend So I've got 60 or so users on a hand rolled postfix installation on openbsd and I'd like to move their mailboxes to our new mail server running iRedMail (postfix, vmail/mysql back end) Does anyone know of a good way to do this? Preferably a script I can run to keep syncing the users mailboxes as MX records get updated? I presume one way (though I don't have all their passwords!) would be to have a command line imap client that simulated the users copying their mail themselves but I'm sure there must be a shell / php script to migrate users? Anyone got any bright ideas? Chris.

  • ftp users configuration in OpenSuse 12

    I usually work with MacOSX servers but this time I need to set up a ftp service on a OpenSuse 12.2 server and I am a little lost. I am using the remote YAST2 tool via ssh. I created several users who can connect via ssh and/or ftp, so the basic setup is ok. But when connecting via ftp all my users don't have write permissions. The FTP directory for authenticated users is /srv/www/htdocs, which has permissions root:root. The OpenSuse manual say it's bad practice to change these permissions, but my normal users (even the ones in the sudoers list) cannot upload files. So I am stuck: as a workaround I use rsync, but from time to time I just need to establish a working ftp connection. What's the right approach for users permissions in this scenario? Thanks a lot.

    Hey Guys, I have been trying to setup my samba shares correctly. The setup i was looking for was having a couple of shares available publicly, guest accounts are ok and can browse these shares all ok. I have this setup correctly. The problem comes when setting up a share that only certain users can view, although i have setup a share that will only allow certain users to access. I havent been able to hide this share from guests. I had a look into the browseable = yes option but this hides it from everyone, including the users that have logged in. Any idea on how to tackle this?   • Do I need Response.End() in ASP.Net 2.0

    Hi, I am just starting with ASP.Net. I copied a ex-co-worker's code (from .Net 1.1 era) and it has a Response.End(); in case of an error. There is also a: catch (Exception ex) { Response.Write(ex.Message); Response.End(); } at the end of Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) which always appends "Thread was aborted." or something like that at the end. I suspect that this worked differently before, or the error conditions were not tested very well. Anyhow, I was able to stop using Response.End(); in case when I do not like the GET parameters, and use return; instead. It seemed to do the right think in a simple case. Is this Ok in general? There are some problems with the code I copied, but I do not want to do a rewrite; I just want to get it running first and find wrinkles later. The Response.End(); caused a mental block for me, however, so I want to figure it out. I want to keep the catch all clause just in case, at least for now. I could also end the method with: catch (System.Threading.ThreadAbortException) { Response.End(); } catch (Exception ex) { Response.Write(ex.Message); Response.End(); } but that just seems extremely stupid, once you think about all of the exceptions being generated. Please give me a few words of wisdom. Feel free to ask if something is not clear. Thanks! P.S. Ex-coworker was not fired and is a good coder - one more reason to reuse his example.

    Since March, our friends across the pond in Europe get to decide which browser they want to install with their Windows OS. Today we thought we would take a look at the ballot choices, some are well known, and others you may not have heard of. The browser ballot offers a dozen different browsers, including some you’ve likely never heard of.  They each have some unique features, and are all free, and here we take a quick look at each of them. It’s based on Internet Explorer but offers a lot more customizable options out of the box.   K-meleon This basic browser is light on system resources and based on the Gecko engine. It’s been in development for years on SourceForge, and if you like to tweak virtually any aspect of your browser, this might be a good choice for you.   GreenBrowser GreenBrowser is based on Internet Explorer and is available in several languages.     Are there statistics of internet users that use AdBlock or other ad blocking plug-ins? Are there some statistical breakdown, for example, per country (I assume it must vary a lot)? I was unable to google the information I am looking for. The reason I am asking is because I have just signed up for the "Amazon Partners" program and see that this affiliate program is listed on the AdBlock blacklist.
