  • nginx proxypath https redirects to http

    I'm trying to setup Nginx to forward requests to several backend services using proxy_pass however several pages load with 404s The links on the pages have https:// in front, but result in a http request - which ends in a 404 - I only want these services to be available through https. I've tried with varied trailing forward slashes appended to the proxypath and location in proxy.conf, I've also tried commenting out www.conf (just incase its location blocks could have caused any conflicts) to no effect.   • CNAME to another domain fails on some office networks, why?

    Our domain "aspenfasteners.com" is hosted by Volusion. We have CNAME records "find" and "search" which point to site indexing accounts on www.picosearch.com. These addresses fail on SOME private office networks which have their own DNS. We suspect the problem comes from Volusion's own name servers, n2.volusion.com and n3.volusion.com. Volusion support on problems this technical is non-existant. We have tried an NSLOOKUP on find.aspenfasteners.com with level 2 debugging info, and we got the results below. Is it possible that the local DNS is recursing to Volusion's name servers, and that while Volusion DOES return the canonical name, they do NOT resolve the address? Can anybody with expertise in this sort of stuff PLEASE look at the NSLOOKUP below and tell me if we are right, because Volusion is giving me absolutely NO support on this topic. But I'm really mostly poking in the dark, as I do not have a lot of experience with configuring Apache filter chains. Is there a straight forward solution for how to cache this obnoxious piece of code?

  • Looking for Ubuntu 10.10 driver for GeForce GT 425M GPU.

    It came with my Sony VAIO® VPCF133FX/H 16.4" Notebook. Ubuntu does suggest an NVIDIA driver for me, but when I install it, I cannot boot back in normally. I have to boot into a failsafe mode, then reset graphics setting to default, and reboot again. Right now I am stuck in 800 x 600 mode, but I would like to do better, and take advantage of my 1GB graphics memory :(. Please let me know if you have questions.

  • What advantage does a 2400x600 dpi printer have over a 1200x1200 dpi printer?

    I've seen laser printers with a resolutions of 1200x1200 dpi and, strangely, 2400x600 dpi. As the measure is dots per inch, not Kdots on a page or something (where a higher vertical resolution might make sense because paper is rectangular, not square), I'm wondering what the uneven resolution is good for. Why print one square inch with 2400 dots vertically but only 600 horizontally? Does this look more detailed than 1200 by 1200 dots? Or is it better for textile printing or some other special case?

  • Cannot see folders on my external drive [closed]

    I have a Windows Vista Home Premium machine, and am using a WD portable drive. My external drive is showing that it is occupying space, but I am no longer able to see any of my folders in there. Out of the 1 TB, its shows that 600 gigs are free, but the folders are gone! Please suggest some way of retrieving the files (I think they're must be some way to retireve them, since the disk utilization shows that something is on the disk). Appreciate your help!

  • Virtual PC on Windows 7 doesn't have adjustment for video card size?

    The current VirtualBox has a place where the video card size can be set by the user. It seems that Win 7's Virtual PC doesn't have one? Will it auto adjust -- but what if the screen size is 800 x 600 and the user resize it to 1600 x 1200, then the original video size may not be enough and will that cause any issue? I do sometimes see blinking random pixel region showing on the VPC's screen... maybe it is cause by not enough video RAM size?

We suspect this can be solved by adjusting configuration but we don't understand many of the configuration parameters (besides, maybe, the number of threads). Any ideas?

  • Chrome settings window doesn't fit on netbook screen

    I'd really like to use chrome on my netbook, but I can't change the settings because the resolution is 1024*600 on Windows 7. Is there any workaround? I tried the move window command with keyboard thinking that I could move the window up out of the screen enough for the ok button to appear, but the window always snaps back to screen so I can't press ok to save my settings...

  • Apache will not stop/start gracefully

    CentOs 6 64bit running apache 2.2.15-29.el6.centos. When I try to stop/start or restart httpd I get an error that says it has failed. A tail of the error log is below. I also noticed that a httpd.pid file is not created even though it is configured in the main conf file. If I set selinux to permissive, it works just fine. I do not want to run it with selinux disabled. If I delete the SSL_Mutex file it will start. HTTPD was running fine until I tried to add the ssl configuration. I copied over the ssl.conf file from a working server into the conf.d folder. I also copied a sslcert folder into the conf folder. It contains the certs, key, csr and password file. I think the problem has to do with the selinux context for the sslcert folder that was copied but I am not certain and not sure how to fix it. However, in C# I can connect anonymously with this code : DirectoryEntry ldap = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://Hostname"); DirectorySearcher searcher = new DirectorySearcher(ldap); searcher.Filter = "(SAMAccountName=username)"; SearchResult result = searcher.FindOne(); If I try to connect anonymously in Oracle, I only get the error(ORA-31202 : LDAP client/server error) when I try to search (and the result code for the bind is SUCCESS)... my_session := dbms_ldap.init('HOST','389'); retval := dbms_ldap.simple_bind_s(my_session, '', ''); retval := dbms_ldap.search_s(my_session, ldap_base, dbms_ldap.scope_subtree, 'objectclass=*', my_attrs, 0, my_message); Why is the anonymous connection is C# works but doesn't work in Pl/Sql?     Greetings all, I have a question. I am trying to build a parametrized query to get me the number of rows from a table in Oracle. Rather simple. However I am an Oracle newbie.. I know in SQL Server you can do something like: Select @outputVariable = count(*) from sometable where name = @SomeOtherVariable and then you can set up an Output parameter in the System.Data.SqlClient to get the @outputVariable. Thinking that one should be able to do this in Oracle as well, I have the following query Select count(*) into :theCount from sometable where name = :SomeValue I set up my oracle parameters (using System.Data.OracleClient - yes I know it will be deprecated in .Net 4 - but that's what I am working with for now) as follows IDbCommand command = new OracleCommand(); command.CommandText = "Select count(*) into :theCount from sometable where name = :SomeValue"); command.CommandType = CommandType.Text; OracleParameter parameterTheCount = new OracleParameter(":theCount ", OracleType.Number); parameterTheCount .Direction = ParameterDirection.Output; command.Parameters.Add(parameterTheCount ); OracleParameter parameterSomeValue = new OracleParameter(":SomeValue", OracleType.VarChar, 40); parameterSomeValue .Direction = ParameterDirection.Input; parameterSomeValue .Value = "TheValueToLookFor"; command.Parameters.Add(parameterSomeValue ); command.Connection = myconnectionObject; command.ExecuteNonQuery(); int theCount = (int)parameterTheCount.Value; At which point I was hoping the count would be in the parameter parameterTheCount that I could readily access. I keep getting the error ora-01036 which http://ora-01036.ora-code.com tells me to check my binding in the sql statement. Am I messing something up in the SQL statement? Am I missing something simple elsewhere? I could just use command.ExecuteScaler() as I am only getting one item, and am probably going to end up using that, but at this point, curiosity has got the better of me. What if I had two parameters I wanted back from my query (ie: select max(ColA), min(ColB) into :max, :min.....) Thanks..
