• jQuery UI Autocomplete with scrollbar z-index help

  I have a textbox that I am attaching jQuery UI's Autocomplete functionality to and I am using CSS to give it a max height via the example here. My problem is that doing this causes the z-index problem that bgiframe solves to come back again, but in a different way. The initial autocomplete menu is above all the controls underneath it, but when I begin to scroll the autocomplete menu falls behind them. Any suggestions? EDIT: This is purely an IE6 bug. As you can see, after scrolling down the autocomplete falls behind the other controls.

  The following simply loads a jquery-ui dialog from an external html file. $('#showdialog').click(function(e) { var div = $('<div>loading...</div>'); div.dialog({ modal: true, open: function() { div.load('anotherpage.html'); } }); e.preventDefault(); }); After the DOM loads from the external html file, I'd like to interrogate it with JQuery. For example, supposing anothorpage.html had a bunch of anchors on it, I'd like to wire up click handlers for them when it loads into the dialog. Any ideas?

• FCKeditor in jQuery ui dialog not working

  Hi folks, I'm having serious trouble getting this to work in IE7/8. In FF, everything works as expected. When the user clicks on a certain link, a modal dialog popup is shown. In this dialog, there is a form, which contains one textarea, that is replaced with a FCK instance. The form is loaded from the server using ajax on the clientside and php on the serverside. There's one strange way to get the FCK editor shown, and that is by resizing the dialog. Library versions: jquery: 1.3.2 jquery ui: 1.7.3 FCKeditor: 2.6.1 build 19297 Any help would be strongly appreciated, I'm on a deadline here :-(

• Can you restrict entering invalid keystrokes with jquery ui autocomplete combobox

  when using the jquery ui autocomplete combobox, i would thought there would be an option to force only valid key entry based on the list. Is there anyway to not allow invalid keys so you can only enter valid items in the list? also, is there a way to set a default value of the combobox. if my list has (csharp, java, python) i can start typing "abcds . ." and it lets me type it in. I want only valid entries to be allowed.

Example Form: Product Creation Fields: Name Price Discount Roles: Role Administrator Is allowed to see and modify the Name field Is allowed to see and modify the Price field Is allowed to see and modify the Discount Role Administrator assistant Is allowed to see and modify the Name Is allowed to see and modify the Price Fields shown in each role are different, and model binding needs to ignore the discount field for 'Administrator assistant' role. How would you do it?

  I noticed it is possible to set the value of a jQuery UI slider in the following way: $("#mySlider").slider("value", 42); This triggers the event handlers attached to the slider as expected. Now I'm trying to do the same trick using a button (toggle). There does not appear to be a nice way to do this in the API. I might just be missing something simple. I tried the following with no results: $("#myButton").button().click(); Any ideas how to handle that in this case are welcome. Note that it would be awesome to find a solution that applies for a buttonset as well.

• Saving jQuery UI Sortable's order to Backbone.js Collection

  I have a Backbone.js collection that I would like to be able to sort using jQuery UI's Sortable. Nothing fancy, I just have a list that I would like to be able to sort. The problem is that I'm not sure how to get the current order of items after being sorted and communicate that to the collection. Sortable can serialize itself, but that won't give me the model data I need to give to the collection. Ideally, I'd like to be able to just get an array of the current order of the models in the collection and use the reset method for the collection, but I'm not sure how to get the current order. Please share any ideas or examples for getting an array with the current model order.

• WPF - Pausing the UI Thread?

  I have a tab control with draggable tabs. When the mouse is released it removes the selected tab from the tabControl and adds it to its new location. My problem is that the TabControl draws itself after removing the tab, and then again when adding the tab so there is a very noticeable flicker that shows the tab behind the tab being moved. Is there a way I can pause the UI thread so the tab control does not redraw until both the Remove and the Insert operations finish? Or perhaps some other alternative way of rearranging the tab items? The Drag/Drop operation exists in a separate code file as an Attached Property

• jquery ui modal dialog problems in IE

  I use jquery ui dialog widget. Everything works fine in FF, Opera etc., except IE. The problem is that when dialog is opened in Internet Explorer, some space (not covered with that "modal gray layer") is added at the bottom of the document, and page is scrolled to the bottom. So I don't even see the dialog, I have to scroll up, to see it fully. Anyone had that problems? Any solutions? EDIT: now I see, that this "bottom space" is also added in FireFox, but it doesn't scroll to it like in IE.

  Hi, I'm using jQuery UI 1.8 and I would like to hide the year from the user in both the popup and the textbox. Essentially instead of picking the day, month and year I want the user to just pick the day and month. Hiding the year in the textbox is easy enough, the code shown below will do that. I'm stumped on how to hide the year from the popup - so it would say "April" instead of "April 2010". $(function() { $("#beginDateRange").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'mm/dd' }); }); <input type="text" name="beginDateRange" id="beginDateRange" /> Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a JSON that returns from the server which tabs to build, so I init them in my JS like this: $('#tabs').tabs( 'ajaxOptions', { timeout: 20000, error: function(xhr, status, index, anchor){ console.log( status, index, anchor ); } }) .tabs('add', item.CategoryLink, item.CategoryName); Thing is, when I click a tab, and before it is done loading I click another tab, the previous request is aborted and never called again when I click that first one again! this is very bad, because it obviously didn't fetch the request, so what gives? I tried bypassing this by setting: .tabs({ cache: false }) but this is a bad thing to do, because I don't want to have a request each time again... it should be cachced if response was sent. using jquery-ui 1.8.1

  I would like to implement a toggle splitbutton with jQuery UI that would on toggle action change the style of the "dropdown" part as well (as seen in http://jsfiddle.net/8khz2/3/ - I'd like to appear it on 1st click as white, same as "Toggle" button does). Does anyone see a way to achieve that out of the box or only with CSS, without additional javascript code? I need to be able to drag and reschedule appointments appropriately. jQuery-ui is pretty neat and I am able to achieve almost everything except that I require that no appointments (divs) may overlap.   I'm toying with the new autocomplete in jQuery 1.8-UI. I've provided data in the following format ["val1", "val2", "val3"] This is coming from a stored procedure but output as a string. For some reason this doesn't work at all, however, if I supply the same data using a javascript variable var data = ["val1", "val2", "val3"]; Then this works fine. <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() $("#txtClient").autocomplete({ source: "/intranet/common/scripts/IntranetLists.aspx?ListType=C" }); }); </script> I've got a page which supplies whatever data I want using query strings. It's more temporary, but it worked when I previously used bassistence's autocomplete. Any ideas?

• JQuery UI Dialog widget problem with IE and ASP.NET

  The JQuery UI Dialog model form widget has an issue with ASP.NET when a button on the dialog is clicked to submit the page. It doesn't work because the form elements in the dialog window are outside the html form tags. So I used the fix of doing $("#dialog").parent().appendTo($("form:first"));. It works in Firefox but not in IE because the modal window now appears to be part of the rest of the webpage which is disabled. Visually, this is evident by the stripes showing on both the modal window and the rest of the web page.

  Having looked into How can I make a JQuery UI Dialog automatically grow or shrink to fit its contents?, I am using the height: "auto" option when building a jQuery modal dialog box: $( "#dialog-message" ).dialog({ autoOpen: false, width: "400", height: "auto", show: "slide", modal: true, buttons: { Ok: function() { $( this ).dialog( "close" ); } } }); However, the height isn't "growing" to fit all of the contents. I'm still seeing a vertical scrollbar as in this image: Is there a way right in the definition code I listed to ensure that the height grows enough so that a vertical scrollbar doesn't show? Or, do I need to do this programmatically before opening the dialog box? Edit 1 Not sure why, but Chrome is displaying this fine but IE 8 isn't. I need it to specifically work in IE 8 so I believe I'm just going to put a bottom margin on the text.

  I'm using jQuery UI's sortable for my UL list. Each time the user sorts the list, I want each li element to update it's "position" attribute to it's position in the list. <ul> <li position="1">a</li> <li position="2">b</li> <li position="3">c</li> </ul> So when a user swaps c with a, the position will also update. I tried to use .each but it seems that javascript doesn't follow the order of how the LI elements are displayed but the order of the element's creation.

  Hey Guys, i have a big Problem with jQuery UI Datepicker. I have two Input Fields "From Date" and "To Date". When i choose a From Date - a Daterange of only 5 Days should appear on the "To Date" Picker. I used the Code from "Russ Cam" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/330737/jquery-datepicker-2-inputs-textboxes-and-restricting-range It worked perfect. Now my Problem: I have a second Calendar which is INLINE, means no Input Fields - it's shown directly on the Page - with "From Date" and "To Date". In this Calendar the Script does not work! All Fields in "From Date" and in the "To Date" are available - no Date Range Restrictions or something else. What's wrong here? Can someone give me a hint?

• jQuery UI Tabs causes content to be cutoff on page load in IE6/IE7

  I have a web page with jQuery UI Tabs on it. Some of the content is in an html table. When the page loads some of the content will be cut off at the end, usually just the last few letters. If I change tabs and come back to the original tab then it fixes itself. This appears to be an issue just with Internet Explorer, specifically IE6/7, I haven't tested it on 8. I believe the issue is directly related to my use of the Blueprint CSS Framework as if I don't use Blueprint then I don't have the issue. Has anyone encountered this before or have any ideas?

  My accordion is working properly, but I'm having a few CSS and JS issues that are prohibiting it from displaying correctly. http://jsfiddle.net/frEWQ/ The JS is applying .ui-corners-all to the H3 before the "kwick" div below it has finished collapsing, giving an odd cut-off border during the animation The margin-bottom applied to the "kwick" div to give spacing between each tab disappears when the tab is set to display:none, getting rid of the spacing... but I can't apply the margin-bottom to the header because it disconnects the header from the "kwick" div below it. Any suggestions? Modification to the JS/CSS? Thanks

  When an ajax request fails, the JQuery UI Tabs widget stops responding and the "Loading..." spinner remains on the tab that caused the error. I can get the ajax callback to give me some sort of alert message like so: $('#localtabs > ul').tabs({ ajaxOptions: { success: tabLoadSuccessCallback, error: tabLoadFailureCallback} }); function tabLoadSuccessCallback(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert("Yay!");} function tabLoadFailureCallback(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert("Could not get search results.");} But what I'd really like is to be able to display a message within the panel, cancel the spinner, and disable the tab that caused the problem while leaving the rest of the tabs operational. When I generated html on pageload, then this works fine, but if I add html dynamically then dialog won't open. It is also not hidden when it's appended to div. Is it possible to open it "on-fly"?
