This code gets the text that's in a certain column of a table row: var keyA = $(a).children('td').eq(column).text().toUpperCase(); Q: How do I rewrite this to get the value of an input tag that's in the table cell? var keyA = $(a).children('td').eq(column).('input').val().toUpperCase();

• Perl check for the existence of a value in a regular array

- by Mel
I am trying to figure out a way of checking for the existence of a value in an array without iterating through the array. I am reading a file for a parameter. I have a long list of parameters I do not want to deal with. I placed these unwanted parameters in an array @badparams I want to read a new parameter and if it does not exist in @badparams, process it. If it does exist in @badparams, go to the next read.

• c++ memcpy return value

- by knittl
according to http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/clibrary/cstring/memcpy/ c++'s memcpy takes three parameters: destination, source and size/bytes. it also returns a pointer. why is that so? aren't the parameters enough to input and copy data. or am i misunderstanding something? the examples don't use the return value

If not, how can I get the integer associated with an enum value (like in C#) ? enum Rate { VeryBad(1), Bad(2), Average(3), Good(4), Excellent(5); private int rate; private Rate(int rate) { this.rate = rate; } public int toInt() { return rate; } } Thanks

- by Industrial
Hi everybody, How could I make sure that the startProcess(); function is being called, but without halting the execution for myFunction(). I'll guess that there's a way to call a function and prevent it from returning it's value to thereby accomplishing this? Pseudo-code: function myFunction() { startProcess(); return $something; } function startProcess() { sleep(5); // Do stuff that user doesn't should have to wait for. }

• Get groups of 4 elements from name value list using LINQ in C#

- by Kodefoo
I am wanting to loop through this list of name value pairs and grab them in groups of 4. The data would be like: value1 1 value2 1 value3 1 value4 1 value1 2 value2 2 value3 2 value4 2 and it would group it as 1 list that contains value1 1 value2 1 value3 1 value4 1 and another list that contains value1 2 value2 2 value3 2 value4 2 I know this can be done easily with a for loop, but I am wondering if there is a good way to do it with LINQ.

• Default value for bool in c++

- by greenguy1090
I'm redesigning a class constructor in C++ and need it to catch an unspecified bool. I have used default values for all of the other parameters, but from my understanding bool can only be initialized to true or false. Since both of those cases have meaning in the class, how should I handle checking for change from a default value?

• Getting "value is not defined" while inheriting a type

- by James Black
I can't see what I am doing wrong, as the files are in the correct order. In this case it is: BaseDAO.fs CreateDatabase.fs They are in the same namespace, but even when I had them in different modules, and opened the module in CreateDatabase the same error. The error is: Error 1 The value or constructor 'execNonQuery' is not defined I am trying to inherit BaseDAO and use a member that will be common to several files, and I don't see why I get the error above. namespace RestaurantServiceDAO open MySql.Data.MySqlClient type BaseDAO() = let connString = @"Server=localhost;Database=mysql;Uid=root;Pwd=$$$$;" let conn = new MySqlConnection(connString) member self.execNonQuery(sqlStr) = conn.Open() let comm = new MySqlCommand(sqlStr, conn, CommandTimeout = 10) comm.ExecuteNonQuery |> ignore comm.Dispose |> ignore The type that does inherit is here, and execNonQuery is not defined. namespace RestaurantServiceDAO open MySql.Data.MySqlClient type CreateDatabase() = inherit BaseDAO() let createRestaurantTable conn = execNonQuery "CREATE TABLE restaurant(id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, name VARCHAR(100), cur_timestamp TIMESTAMP(8))"

• AS3 TextField - unwanted carriage return when setting value to ""

- by jevinkones
I have an input TextField and have a KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN even listener on the stage to listen for the Keyboard.ENTER event. The event listener adds the entered text to an array or whatever, and then clears the TextField. The problem is that when the Enter key event fires and the TextField value is set to "", it leaves a carriage return in the TextField and the cursor positioned on the second line. WTF? I've been coding AS2 and AS3 for a LONG time and have never ran into this before. Am I losing my mind? Please help, people! :-) Example: var myTextArray:Array = new Array(); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, onKeyDown); function onKeyDown(e:KeyboardEvent):void{ if(e.keyCode == Keyboard.ENTER){ if(_inputText.text != null){ myTextArray.push(_inputText.text); } _inputText.text = ""; } }

• Converting HTML special characters into their value using Python

- by tipu
I have a file that's littered with these: http://www.utexas.edu/learn/html/spchar.html That link just displays all sorts of HTML entities, such as – – — — ¡ ¡ and so on. Is it possible in Python to natively convert these characters back into their values so any occurrences of – will appear as – instead? My current approach was just to make a dict of key html entities and their utf-8 values and do search and replace, but I was wondering if there are any libraries that can take care of this for me.
