  We are using Geolocation (getCurrentPosition()) in a website to determine a users position when using our site from a mobile device. I want to write an article explaining how the user can obtain the best results. Am I correct in assuming: Enabling GPS will yield the best result when in rural areas (less buildings to obscure line of sight to the satelites) Enabling Wi-Fi will yield the best results when in urban areas (generally more Wi-Fi hotspots available) Is it true that Android phones have better results from silently harvesting Wi-Fi hotspot details? Any links to reference material on this are appreciated

  On my Windows 7 installation an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card/driver shows. However in Ubuntu 12.04, System ? Administration ? Hardware Drivers shows no proprietary drivers available for the system. I have tried running the following: sudo apt-get install mesa-utils Which results in the graphics driver incorrectly identifying itself as Sandy Bridge Mobile. Running the following results in no change sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade sudo reboot Does anybody have any information on this behavior?

• Continue with Java for pc or go to android? [on hold]

  so I have been learning java from Deitel's learn java 9th edition. I am up to GUI's and a have a pretty good grasp on OOP etc. I want to go straight to the mobile app development scene, I believe I will learn a fair bit there on using API's, and other tools to develop apps. I am not sure weather I should carry on with PC coding (GUI's etc etc) or skip it all and go direct to learning the Android SDK. So, should I carry on, learn about sockets, writing and reading files, GUI's for PC etc or get a book and jump into android? Thanks a lot guys.

  What does a small stop sign icon on a file in solution explorer mean? Someone asked the same question a year ago Original Question but the answer provided is of no help. The icon looks like this: Suffice to say that the sign is not one presented in the VS documentation and is a UK Stop sign (red circle with a white horizontal bar) not a US one. The project is WebKit and the build process cannot find AuthenticationCF.h even though the file is present. I presume the sign might shed some light on this. Thanks, Andy

• Html + Css: How to create a auto-resizing rotated background?

  Hi, image a complete black web page. On this web page is a 100% size white div that fills the whole page. I'd like to rotate this div by -7 degrees (or 7 degrees counter-clock wise). This will result in the black background being visible in triangles on the edges, just like you had placed a piece of paper on a desk and turned it a bit to the left. Actually this can be done with some css and it's working quite well (except for IE). The real problem now is: I'd like to have a normal, non-rotated div element on top of that to display the content in, so that only the background is rotated. Rotating a contained div counterwise doesn't work though, because through the two transformations the text will be blurry in all browsers. How can I realize that? Best would be a solution workiing in current Webkit browsers, FF3.5+ and IE7+. If only IE8+ I could live with that too.

• Why Android for new (micro) consoles?

  There are a lot of new (micro) consoles with Android inside coming soon or already there (OUYA for example). My question is: why use Android and not another OS as base for these consoles? I assume that there are pragmatic answers to this but I can't see any clear killer feature. For example, one can assume that any stable Linux distribution would work (like Valve seem to think). Android is primarily targetted at mobile platforms which mean it is built around the idea of being interrupted which goes against a lot of what console devs needs in new hardware - but is not killing Android as a platform for gamedev either as it's just a constraint. Why not another OS? What's the Android killer features that make micro-console builder using it instead of Linux or anything else?

  So, I've found myself, after several years of coding (I consider myself a coder, rather than a programmer) full of links and loose snippets and coding tips, all dispersed across the web. In such way it is barely usable, even when every bit is important or interesting. I thought of simply storing the links in delicious or something alike, but it's not really the links I want to keep, I just need the succinth info. So I was thinking to use some web app, something like a wiki, maybe much more simple, so I could access it though my mobile if I need it. I could code it, but as I stated it before, I'm more of a code monkey, and I'm sure my solution would be far from decent... Can anyone give me recommendations on this?

The clear impact here is to the wide array of programs written in languages other than those. Is that your reading of the clause in the new agreement as well?   I don't seem to be able to share between my Ubuntu (fresh install) and any of my Windows machines. I tried using this guide: How to Share Folders in Ubuntu & Access them from Windows 7. The problems is that I cannot see the Ubuntu machine in my network pane on the Windows machine. Any Ideas of what I should check? Ultimately what I am looking to do is make mobile media server that I can put in the Van, attach a WiFi router, and stream to an iPad, tablet, laptop, etc. Any advice on setting this up would be appreciated.

  UBUNTU 11.10 on 8GB USB 3.0 pendrive. Drive Partitioned using gparted. 4GB BASE 3GB Home 600MB swap Installation Ok. Restart blinking cursor. Installed another distro on another USB 3.0 stick. It boots OK. --------------- DEBUG -------------------------------------- Boot Other distro and check: I compare boot file with another linux. grub of ubuntu is 1.4mb contend is different. Taken photo with mobile camera but can not add here. Files has note(music) sign on it. Downloaded 11.10 desktop and Installed. Same result. Will download 12.x when ready and try.
