  • Convert XML to table in SQL Server 2005.

    - by Tamim Sadikali
If I pass in an xml parameter to a stored proc which looks like this: <ClientKeys> <ck>3052</ck> <ck>3051</ck> <ck>3050</ck> <ck>3049</ck> ... </ClientKeys> ...and then convert the XML to a temp table like this: CREATE TABLE #ClientKeys ( ClientKey varchar(36) ) INSERT INTO #ClientKeys (ClientKey) SELECT ParamValues.ck.value('.','VARCHAR(36)') FROM @ClientKeys.nodes('/ClientKeys/ck') as ParamValues(ck) ...the temp tbl is populated and everything is good. However the time taken to populate said table is strictly proportionate to the number of 'ck' elements in the xml - which I wasn't expecting as there is no iterative step. And thus the time taken to populate the tbl soon becomes 'too long'. Is there a quicker way to achieve the above?

  • MS Detours Library, detouring non win api function

    - by flavour404
Hi, I want to use the windows detours library to detour a non win api function. The function is part of the Qt library (QtGui4.dll). I am wondering how I would set up the function signature for : void QPainter::drawText ( const QPointF & position, const QString & text ) I had a go with this and it received my usual share of errors, a little explanation of requirements would be interesting as well: void (QPainter * real_drawText)(const QPointF & position, const QString & text) = drawText This is what they look like for TextOut, under the windows API: BOOL (WINAPI * Real_TextOut)(HDC a0, int a1, int a2, LPCWSTR a3, int a4) = TextOutW; BOOL WINAPI Mine_TextOut(HDC hdc,int X,int Y,LPCWSTR text, int textLen) { BOOL rv = Real_TextOut(hdc, X, Y, text, textLen); HWND hWindow = WindowFromDC(hdc); SendTextMessage(hWindow, text); return rv; } Thanks.

When I create a new Reporting Services report or try to open an existing report (that has been working) in Visual Studio 2008. I cannot view the design. I get no error message and it only shows html code in the "Design View". I've tried reinstalling VS2008 and BIDS, but hasn't worked. This was all working when I last used it 2 weeks ago. -nate

  • Need help with a SQL CTE Query

    - by Chuck
    I have a table that I need to get some specific data from for a view. Here's the base table structure with some sample data: | UserID | ReportsToUserID | Org ID | ------------------------------------- | 1 | NULL | 1 | ------------------------------------- | 2 | 1 | 1 | ------------------------------------- | 3 | 2 | 1 | ------------------------------------- | 4 | 3 | 1 | ------------------------------------- The users will be entering reports and users can see the reports of users who report to them and any users who report to those users. Users who report to no one can see everything in their organization Given my sample data above, user 1 can see the reports of 2, 3, & 4; user 2 can see the reports of 3 & 4; and user 3 can see the reports of 4. For the view, I'd like to have the data returned as follows: | UserID | CanSeeUserID | OrgID | -------------------------------------------- | 1 | 2 | 1 | -------------------------------------------- | 1 | 3 | 1 | -------------------------------------------- | 1 | 4 | 1 | -------------------------------------------- | 2 | 3 | 1 | -------------------------------------------- etc... Below is my current code, any help is greatly appreciated. WITH CTEUsers (UserID, CanSeeUserID, OrgID) AS ( SELECT e.ID, e.ReportsToUserID, e.OrgID FROM Users e WITH(NOLOCK) WHERE COALESCE(ReportsToUserID,0) = 0 --ReportsToUserID can be NULL or 0 UNION ALL SELECT e.ReportsToUserID, e.ID,e.OrgID FROM Users e WITH(NOLOCK) JOIN CTEUsers c ON e.ID = c.UserID ) SELECT * FROM CTEUsers

  • SQL Server 2008 and .Net 4.0?

    - by JMarsch
Does anyone konw whether I can load .net 4.0 assemblies from SQL Server 2008? In particular, we are looking at SQL Reporting, with Custom Data Extensions. I have noticed that hte SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Studio does not seem to support VS2010 at the moment. If I release my CDE's as .net 4.0 assemblies, will I even be able to load them from within the SQL Server Reporting Server?

  • Create Directory for records in MS Access 2007

    - by glinch
Hi there, Is it possible to create a directory folder for individual records in Access 2007. For example tblUser ID firstName surName When adding a record, would create a folder C:\userdatabase\Surname,firstName,ID Could see this being useful in situations for example where a large amount of images/files would need to be associated with a record. Access would create and link to a directory for each record. Thanks in advance for any advice Noel

  • T-SQL QUERY PROBLEM

    - by Sam
Hi All, I have table called Summary and the data in the table looks like this: ID Type Name Parent 1 Act Rent Null 2 Eng E21-01-Rent Rent 3 Prj P01-12-Rent E21-Rent 1 Act Fin Null 2 Eng E13-27-Fin Fin 3 Prj P56-35-Fin E13-Fin I am writing a SP which has to pull the parent based on type. Here always the type Act has ID 1, Eng has ID 2 and Prj has ID 3. The type ACT parent is always NUll, type Eng parent is Act and type Prj parent is Eng Now I have table called Detail.I am writing a SP to insert Detail Table data to the Summary table. I am passing the id as parameter: I am having problem with the parent. How do I get that? I can always say when ID is 1 then parent is Null but when ID is 2 then parent is name of ID 1 similarly when ID is 3 then parent is name of ID2. How do I get that? Can anyone help me with this:

  • Licensing SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services w/ SharePoint 2010

    - by Evan M.
Here's my situation: I have 1 VM that is running SharePoint 2010 SP1. I have a different physical server that is running SQL Server 2008 R2 that hosts all the configuration and content database for SharePoint. Now, we want to start providing BI capabilities to our users with SharePoint and SQL Server. With it's new features, 2012 is the obvious way to go. To support this, I'm looking to build a new VM that will have SQL Server 2012 installed w/ Analysis services and SSIS, which will be the platform that gets our data from our Oracle databases, puts it in a warehouse hosted by the SQL 2012 instance, and is put into cubes. What's getting me about the platform is licensing for Reporting Services and PowerPivot. My plan was to install SSRS and PowerPivot on the current SharePoint server. But my understanding of the licensing means that instead of the new SQL server being licensed, I'd have to license both new server, and the SharePoint server. Conversely, I could install SharePoint onto the SQL server, and only have to get a second SP license, but then I'd have the added complexity of deploying a separated application server, and combines my data and application servers. Is my licensing understanding correct, or can I have SSRS and PowerPivot installed separately without incurring additional licensing costs?

  • SQL Duplicates Issue SQL SERVER 2000

    - by jeff
I have two tables : Product and ProductRateDetail. The parent table is Product. I have duplicate records in the product table which need to be unique. There are entries in the ProductRateDetail table which correspond to duplicate records in the product table. Somehow I need to update the ProductRateDetail table to match the original (older) ID from the Product table and then remove the duplicates from the product table. I would do this manually but there are 100's of records. i.e. something like UPDATE tbl_productRateDetail SET productID = (originalID from tbl_product) then something like DELETE from tbl_product WHERE duplicate ID and only delete the recently added ID data example: (sorry can't work out this formatting thing) tbl_Product select * from dbo.Product where ProductCode = '10003' ProductID ProductTypeID ProductDescription ProductCode ProductSize 365 1 BEND DOUBLE FLANGED 10003 80mmX90deg 1354 1 BEND DOUBLE FLANGED 10003 80mmX90deg tbl_ProductRateDetail SELECT * FROM [MSTS2].[dbo].[ProductRateDetail] WHERE ProductID in (365,1354) ProductRateDetailID ProductRateID ProductID UnitRate 365 1 365 16.87 1032 5 365 16.87 2187 10 365 16.87 2689 11 365 16.87 3191 12 365 16.87 7354 21 1354 21.30 7917 22 1354 21.30 8480 23 1354 21.30 9328 25 1354 21.30 9890 26 1354 21.30 10452 27 1354 21.30 Please help!

  • Best way to auto-restore a database every hour

    - by aron
I have a demo site where anyone can login and test a management interface. Every hour I would like to flush all the data in the SQL 2008 Database and restore it from the original. Red Gate Software has some awesome tools for this, however they are beyond my budget right now. Could I simply make a backup copy of the database's data file, then have a c# console app that deletes it and copies over the original. Then I can have a windows schedule task to run the .exe every hour. It's simple and free... would this work? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Web edition I understand that Red Gate Software is technically better because I can set it to analyze the db and only update the records that were altered, and the approach I have above is like a "sledge hammer".

  • Database Snapshots of Mirrored databases affect performance of Principal database?

    - by yrushka
I have 2 servers set in Mirroring High-safety. One is Principal and another in Mirror. Currently I have 2 snapshots of a Production database (100 GB size) created on Principal server (for no_lock purpose of massive select processes) and 2 snapshots on the mirror server for the same database for reporting purposes. I know snapshots reduce performance of source databases but I am not sure if snapshots from mirror server have any impact on principal server's performance. thanks,

  • SQL CLR and nullable datetime parameter

    - by toluca70
I'm trying to write a SQLCLR function that takes a DateTime2 as input and returns another DateTime2. Based on this post I altered the parameter to be the C# type DateTime giving me the level of precision I require. However because the input can be null I would like it to be DateTime?; the return type as well. using System; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Server; namespace SqlServer.Functions { public class UserDefinedFunctions { [SqlFunction(DataAccess = DataAccessKind.None)] public static DateTime? GetLocalTimeFromGMT(DateTime? dateTime) { if (dateTime.HasValue) return DateTime.SpecifyKind(dateTime.Value, DateTimeKind.Utc).ToLocalTime(); else return (DateTime?)null; } } } The problem is I get the following error when I try to deploy: Error 1 Cannot find the type 'Nullable`1', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. SqlServer.Functions I'm using Sql Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.
