  • Is there a way to enforce/preserve order of XML elements in an XML Schema?

    Let's consider the following XML Schema: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <schema targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/library" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:lib="http://www.example.org/library"> <element name="library" type="lib:libraryType"></element> <complexType name="libraryType"> <sequence> <element name="books" type="lib:booksType"></element> </sequence> </complexType> <complexType name="booksType"> <sequence> <element name="book" type="lib:bookType" maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="1"></element> </sequence> </complexType> <complexType name="bookType"> <attribute name="title" type="string"></attribute> </complexType> </schema> and a corresponding XML example: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <lib:library xmlns:lib="http://www.example.org/library" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.example.org/library src/library.xsd "> <lib:books> <lib:book title="t1"/> <lib:book title="t2"/> <lib:book title="t3"/> </lib:books> </lib:library> Is there a way to guarantee that the order of <lib:book .../> elements is preserved? I want to be sure that any parser reading the XML will return books in the specified oder, that is first the book with title="t1", then the book with title="t2", and finally the book with title="t3". As far as I know XML parsers are not required to preserve order. I wonder whether one can enforce this through XML Schema? One quick solution for me would be adding an index attribute to the <lib:book .../> element, and delegate order preservation to the application reading the XML. Comments? Suggestions?

CREATE TABLE svcr."EventLogs" ("eventId" BIGINT NOT NULL, "eventTime" TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE NOT NULL, "userid" CITEXT, "realmid" CITEXT NOT NULL, "onUserid" CITEXT, "description" TEXT, CONSTRAINT eventlogs_pkey PRIMARY KEY ("eventId")); And I get following error - ERROR: type "citext" does not exist SQL state: 42704 Character: 120 However, following query runs fine - CREATE TABLE svcr."CategoryMap" ("category" INT NOT NULL, "userData" INT NOT NULL); What is wrong with the first query?

    I want to be able to color lines differently based on the starting character. eg.: - This is line 1 - This is line 2 x This is line 3 - This is line 4 x This is line 5 So lines 1,2,4 (starting with '-') should be blue while lines 3,5 (starting with 'x') should be red. Is this possible? How would you do it? Thanks.

    I'm using a low level native API where I send an unsafe byte buffer pointer to get a c-string value. So it gives me // using byte[255] c_str string s = new string(Encoding.ASCII.GetChars(c_str)); // now s == "heresastring\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0(etc)"; So obviously I'm not doing it right, how I get rid of the excess?

    Given a string named line whose raw version has this value: \rRAWSTRING how can I detect if it has the escape character \r? What I've tried is: if repr(line).startswith('\r'): blah... but it doesn't catch it. I also tried find, such as: if repr(line).find('\r') != -1: blah doesn't work either. What am I missing? thx!

    In order to test how a program reacts when system resources become scarce (mainly the CPU but I'm interested in disk I/O too), I'd like to put an arbitrary load on the system. Currently I'm doing something like this: #!/bin/bash while true do echo "a" >> a.txt md5 a.txt done I could also start mp3-encoding audio files, or whatever. What would be an easy and small Bash script that could be used to simulate an arbitrary load, ideally configurable using parameter(s)?

    The following Scala code does just what I expect it to - it prints each line of some_file.txt. import scala.io.Source val lines = Source.fromPath("some_file.txt").mkString for (line <- lines) print(line) If I use println instead of print, I expect to see some_file.txt printed out with double-spacing. Instead, the program prints a newline after every character of some_file.txt. Could someone explain this to me? I'm using Scala 2.8.0 Beta 1.
