  • Asp.Net MVC - Plugins Directory, Community etc?

    Good evening everyone, I am currently starting to dive into asp.net mvc and I really like what I see so far.. BUT I am somewhat confused about 'drop-in' functionality (similiar to what rails and it's plugins and nowadays gems are), an active community to contact etc. For rails there's github with one massiv index of plugins/gems/code-examples regarding mostly rails (despite their goal being generic source-code hosting..), for blogs, mailing lists etc it's also pretty easy to find the places the other developers flock around, but... for asp.net mvc I am somewhat lost where to go/look. It all seems scattered across codeplex and private sites, google code hosting etc etc.. but is there one (or few places) where to turn to regarding asp.net mvc development, sample code etc?     Hello, I need to install a program for my studies and, this program, need java to run. When I try to perform the installation say that cannot find the JDK; since the JDK is already installed by default in mac, the problem is export the java home. I´ve try a lot and I cant do it! I know that I have to add a line in a .bashrc file (or .profile, or .bash_profile) I´ve created all those files, at different times but nothing... I´m a new mac user, but I use Linux too and I dont know what happened, I just need to export java home to perform my work... and is really necessary for me to add environment variables too.   • How can I copy files with timestamps between 2 times and preserve the directory structure

    I want to copy files that have timestamps from the time the script begins to run and a hour previous. So I am basically trying to emulate robocopy but with minage and maxage going down to the exact time rather than days.   • Apache Tomcat under Windows: Changing webapps default directory

    I am deploying my Java application with Ant. Unfortunately my test deployment on the local machine doesn't work because of Vista. The Program Files directionaries are protected and i don't want to start Ant or Eclipse as an Admin. So i had the idea to move my webapps folder to a workspace subfolder, so i can use relative paths in Ant as well. The solutions seems to be to modify the Host element in the server.xml. With Linux it isn't such a deal: <Host name="localhost" appBase="/path/to/webapps" unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> But with Windows i don't get it right.     I am having trouble in creating named pipe in Android and the example below illustrates my dilemma: res = mkfifo("/sdcard/fifo9000", S_IRWXO); if (res != 0) { LOG("Error while creating a pipe (return:%d, errno:%d)", res, errno); } The code always prints: Error while creating a pipe (return:-1, errno:1) I can't figure out exactly why this fails. The application has android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. I can create normal files with exactly the same name in the same location, but pipe creation fails. The pipe in question should be accessible from multiple applications. I suspect that noone can create pipes in /sdcard. Where would it be the best location to do so? What mode mast should I set (2nd parameter)? Does application need any extra permissions?

  • IIS 7.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2 refusing to create PASSIVE MODE FTP connections

    I'm attempting to get an FTP client written in perl to transfer files from an IIS 7.5 FTP server using passive mode. I've configured the FTP server as per instructions and have also configured Windows Firewall to allow this type of traffic. I have validated that the firewall is behaviong correctly by checking to ensure there are no blocked packets in the logs. I have verified the that FTP control channel is being opened on Port 21. I believe the client is being told by IIS which port to connect on for passive mode and IIS is refusing to allow this connection.   • How do you create a dynamic excel chart?

    I am looking at creating an Excel chart that offers some interactivity. Basically, at the moment I have a chart that is detailing progress (in %) using bars. But that progress is usually made up of several other aspects. So you could have an overall progress of say 50% which would then be broken down into Graphics 75%, Sound 25%, Gameplay 50%. Now what I'd like to do is find a way to stack those bars, so that I have the bar showing the overall progress and only when I click on that bar the other, more detailed progress bars appear. Is there a way to do this in Excel? Thanks in advance!

    Is there an method to get the contents of a folder in a particular order? I'd like an array of file attribute dictionaries (or just file names) ordered by date modified. Right now, I'm doing it this way: get an array with the file names get the attributes of each file store the file's path and modified date in a dictionary with the date as a key Next I have to output the dictionary in date order, but I wondered if there's an easier way?   • Create a thumbnail of a dwg in in a linux environment

    Creating a ruby on rails site that uses RMagick to create thumbnails for many types of images. RMagick cannot read dwg files however. I've tried a few things, looked into the Java library JDWGLib, which would probably allow me to write a converter, but it would be a total from the ground up solution, where I just need a thumbnail. Also considered using a viewer program to open the file in a remote X session and do a screen capture, however I'm not sure how I could ever guarantee that the viewer had completed opening when I took the screenshot. I'm not concerned with being able to manipulate the file other than to create the thumbnail. It is going to be used for commercial purposes, so any libraries used need to be compatible.

  • XCode 3.2 - can't create Objective-C class

    My installation of XCode 3.2 has begun to exhibit some strange behaviour. When I try to add a basic Objective-C classs (inheriting from NSObject), in my iPhone project, I get the following popup: "Alert. Couldn't load the next page". The above-mentioned error happens at the point of trying to create the file (i.e. the creation process doesn't get to the stage where you are asked to input the file name). It might also be worth mentioning that where there previously used to be a description for the file (in the file creation window) it now states "No description available". I can create other files (e.g. UIViewController subclass etc.) but not the basic Objective-C class. I have updated the documentation and restarted the machine and xcode several times without success. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance as I am relatively new to the XCode environment.

  • In Eclipse, how to open a file browser in the directory of the currently edited file

    Hi, I know it's possible in eclipse to open file browsers from your project's resource browser, but is it possible for files that aren't part of your project ? Typically external includes are not found in your resource browser... If there is the equivalent of $(resource_loc) for the editor, it would work.. But I wasn't able to find it. Can anyone help me on this ? thanks! JC EDIT : I Found StartExplorer, but it's a joke of a plug-in. It is hardcoded to use WINDOWS explorer or cmd.exe. Also, it still requires you to use the resource browser. Other than that it can open paths selected in the editor, but they must be full paths.

    I have been task with (ha) creating an application that will allow the users to schedule a command line app we have with a parameter. So the command line app takes an xml and "runs it" So bottom line I either need to create a windows service or learn how to interact with the Task Scheduler service already running on the box (version 1 Xp /2003) At first I though it would be easy have a service run and when a job is submitted, calculate the time between now and run and set up a timer to wait that amount of time. This is better then checking every minute if it's time to run. Were I hit a wall is I relized I do not know how to communicate with a running windows service. Except maybe create a file with details and have the service with a file watcher to load the file and modify the schedule. So the underlying questions are how can I execute this psedo code from client serviceThatIsRunning.Add(Job) Or ineracting with the task schedule or creating .job files using c# 3.5

    I have a Macbook Pro with a dead CD drive. I don't have easy access to a replacement drive. I'm trying to install Ubuntu, and I can't get the MBP to recognize a USB stick as a bootable media (I believe MBP's have issues with booting from USB in some cases). Is it possible to take a disk image and write it to a partition on the HDD so that I can then boot from that partition and then install the OS onto a third partition?     I have a problem to decide which layer in my system should create DataContext. I have read a book, saying that if do not pass the same DataContext object for all the database updates, it will sometimes get an exception thrown from the DataContext. That's why i initially create new instance of DataContext in business layer, and pass it into data access layer. So that the same datacontext is used for all the updates. But this lead to one design problem, if i wanna change my DAL to Non-LinqToSQL in future, i need to re-write the code in business layer as well. Please give me some advice on this. Thanks.     I am trying to create a simple animation which includes face of a famous character. For example Santa Clause. The face and the lips of the character will act according to the given input message. For example if a string is inputed then the lips of the character will be opened and closed till the end of the string while the given input message is vocalized using a text to speech converter. Moreover if the " :) " is used the character in the animation will smile. How could I do this? I was told that I can create this type of animations using "smill".     My client wants to create email addresses for all their dotnetnuke users using their domain. The point is to keep the user's email addresses 'private' while still allowing communication through a public email address that they can control. It's not necessary to have a full webmail interface (although that would be nice). I'm thinking it would be enough just to forward any mail on and just act as a gateway. So if an email was sent to [email protected], it would be forwarded on to the email address associated with the dotnetnuke account with username 'rwain'. Is this possible to do in a shared hosting environment? Or do I need to create some custom mail server that does a conversion of the email address and forwards it?

  • Programatically Create Controller in Rails

    What's the best way to dynamically create a controller in Rails. I've got a class that needs to generate a bunch of controller that inherit from it. I could just create a bunch of files in /app/controllers, but they'd all be basically empty files. There's got to be a way to generate these classes dynamically and have them treated like other controllers in Rails, e.g. reloaded correctly in dev mode. I tried putting this in a config/initializer: FL.contact_types.each do |contact_type| controller_name = "#{contact_type.pluralize}Controller" Object.const_set(controller_name.to_sym, Class.new(ContactsController)) unless Object.const_defined?(controller_name.to_sym) end This worked, but I run into the dependency/reload problem and get “A copy of AuthenticatedSystem has been removed from the module tree but is still active” since the ContactsController inherits from ApplicationController which includes AuthenticatedSystem. Is creating a bunch of empty files really the best solution?
