I am just starting to use weblogic workshop and can't figure out how to build a restful web service.
Anyone have a good tutorial on the subject? or some tips or suggestions?
Hi All,
I am looking for adding a version number to the wsdl that gets created for a WCF service. Let me know whether it is a good practice to add the version number as a part of data contract or at the soap headers? if so how to do it? This version number would be helpful to find out the latest wsdl.
Thanks & Regards,

I have successfully gotten JmDNS working on Android 2.1 testing on a Motorola Droid by using MulticastLock, but recently got an HTC Incredible as second test device, and JmDNS discovery doesn't work at all. I should mention that broadcasting a service still works and everything appears to run normally, but serviceAdded() never gets called. Does anyone have thoughts on why this might be? I was thinking it might be a permission issue, but I don't get any exceptions...
I'm trying to find the IP address of a client when they make a particular LCDS service call. Understanding all the issues of getting a "real" IP address and privacy concerns and so on, it is possible to find the client's IP address?

I am using native Oracle XML DB Web Services (using a PL/SQL function with a web service).
I want to drop null values (put nothing in the output (no XML element)).
It's working with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 but not with Oracle 11.2.0.3.0.
Just to clarify... I don't want to consume a webservice with PL/SQL, I want to publish my PL/SQL packages/procedures/functions as a web service!
Hope someone can help me.
Thank you.
In this example is the column "country" null.
Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (this is what I want):
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>
<GET_PERSONOutput xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/TESTSTUFF/GET_PERSON">
<RETURN>
<PERSON>
<PERSON_ID>3</PERSON_ID>
<FIRST_NAME>Harry</FIRST_NAME>
<LAST_NAME>Potter</LAST_NAME>
</PERSON>
</RETURN>
</GET_PERSONOutput>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
Oracle 11.2.0.3.0:
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>
<GET_PERSONOutput xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/TESTSTUFF/GET_PERSON">
<RETURN>
<PERSON>
<PERSON_ID>3</PERSON_ID>
<FIRST_NAME>Harry</FIRST_NAME>
<LAST_NAME>Potter</LAST_NAME>
<COUNTRY/>
</PERSON>
</RETURN>
</GET_PERSONOutput>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
I am looking to access an online database of real estate information (e.g. tax information and sales history for a particular address, lot size, square footage, BPOs, etc.).
Companies such as RealQuest offer reports as a subscription service, but I'm looking to download the raw data, preferably in XML format (I don't want to parse the output since the presentation could change without notice).
Are there any such services available?
Hello everyone
I wonder wether on a website like chatroulette for example, the streaming video is going directly from user to user or wether it is going through a server.
In other words I wonder wether it is possible to offer a webcam service on a website, so that the streaming video goes directly from user to user, without overloading the system. If it is possible, what technology makes it possible? Flash?
Thank you ;)
I am working on an app which calls a rest web service. Sometimes the xml responses contain characters which the phone can not understand. When displaying these characters, an empty box is displayed instead. I would like to filter out these characters. How can I detect if a character will be able to be displayed on the screen?
I have a great name for a website and it's available, but I don't really know how to register a domain name using a barebones website; that's why I want to use A Small Orange-like service.
My question is, is it standard procedure to register the name on YOUR(the costumers) behalf, or do companies set it up on their name so they can profit from hits if in the future you stop paying for the hosting?
My project contains WinForms, WPF, and Windows Service programs running on users' office desktop PCs. I want these applications to periodically check for new versions available at specific URL, automatically download new versions and replace themselves with new versions without attracting any user attention (keeping in mind that users may run Windows from XP to 7 and work using non-privileged account (which can be part of active directory)). Alternatively the whole update package has to be able to be distributed as an unattended-installed MSI package.
Any recommendations on implementing this?
I'm trying to use a WSDL Top Down approach to create a Web Service in Visual Studio 2010.
I used Eclipse's WSDL GUI Editor to generate a WSDL file (CalculatorWSDL.wsdl) which uses the SOAP method for communication.
I also used wsdl.exe to generate a C# file (Calculator.cs).
Now, I'm not sure what to do next. How do I actually use the Calculator.cs on the server and/or client?
Hi, i want to run a web service method with parameters and get method return value back using JQuery.
ie.
client : var result = dosomething(var p1, var p2, var p3 ....);
when do something accesses WebService with
dosomewebservice(int p1,int p2, string p3) { return "something" };
result == "something";
When using ria service for SL app, I can issue following async call to get a group of entity list.
LoadOperation<Person> ch =
this.AMSContext.Load(this.AMSContext.GetPersonQuery().Where(a => a.PersonID == this.performer.PersonID));
But I want to get some calculation, for example, sum(Commission), sum(Salary), the result is not entity, just a scalar value. How can I do this?
I'm creating a web service with create/update/delete calls. But for now I'd like to restrict use of it on my own web app and no other clients. How can I have clear text javascript code that makes these calls but still be confident the credentials won't be used elsewhere?
My idea is to use server side generated nonces for each request. But I am open to different ideas you guys may have. Thanks.

A lot of windows services write daily log files to their application installation directory under "program files".
Windows system apps (eg IIS) use %SystemRoot%\System32\LogFiles. Is something I should do for my service?
The current project i am working on is extensively using web services and is made in .net 3.5. Now as we are going for implementation of second phase we are confused if we should either use WCF or web service as done previously ? Further is there anything new that can be useful and is coming up with .net 4.0 regarding web services or WCF. Thanks in advance.
A good link for this is here.
I'm investigating the possibility of utilizing my web host as a cruise control.net build server. If I have access to MsBuild or can deploy msBuild and run it, it would be great. I can not however find any resources that would tell me if cruise control supports being run as a web service or web app.
Is this type of deployment possible? If not could the UI (it's web-based I believe) control section sit on the web server and send requests to the actual build server?
What's the best tool that you use to monitor Web Service, SOAP, WCF, etc. traffic that's coming and going on the wire? I have seen some tools that made with Java but they seem to be a little crappy. What I want is a tool that sits in the middle as a proxy and does port redirection (which should have configurable listen/redirect ports). Are there any tools work on Windows to do this?
An online service provided me with their certificate (a pfx file) along with its password.
I am looking to load that into my WebLogic 8.1 truststore in Unix.
There is a truststore currently that exists in my WebLogic.
I am new to this so I was wondering what was the process to add that other party's certificate to my existing WebLogic keystore.
Do I need to convert the pfx file into a different for Unix?
