I am using JQuery to populate a set of three cascading dropdowns which have the autopostback to false. How in the code behind do I access the selected values of the dropdowns?
I'm doing some experiments with jquery n widths for a liquid column and I'm not sure why it isn't working on firefox.
It works fine on IE6,7,8 Chrome, Opera(sluggish).
I found some articles about firefox not recognizing the .resize attribute but no explanation/solution =\
$(document).ready(function(){
$(midCol).width((window,$(window).width()) - 470)
$(window).resize(function(){$(midCol).width((window,$(window).width()) - 470)
})
});
Hey guys, there is a form where the user select some of his friends and I'm curious on how I can implement a list that searches simultaneously while the user is typing a friend's name and when he selects the name the name is written in the text box(jQuery). And if the user wants to select more than one friend, when I'm inserting the names in the database, how can I separate the names that are written in one input field?

Hi,
I have 2 scripts working ok separately but can't get them working together -
What I'm after is expanding menus where if the items exceed 10 a 'more' link appears that expands the list, which can also then be hidden.
http://www.brianfitzer.ie/test2/
expanding menu is file test12.html
toggle+limit:
toggle is file test13.html
(I have these working separately)
And then I need this to be able to be applied in multiple instances as I'll have multiple categories.
Any code help greatly appreciated! (i'm a jquery newbie so if you have full code that would be xtra handy)
Hey guys, is there a way to load XML Data Cross-Domain with JQuery (= client side)?
$.get('http://otherdomain.com/data.xml', function(xml) { }
The above doesn't work - do I have to rely on JSONP, or is there a way to load XML?
What is the equivalent of YUI 3's Y.Array in jQuery?
Y.Array() takes array like inputs and converts them into array. More info at http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/3/api/yui-array.js.html

Is it possible to get a value from the external CSS of a page if the element that the style refers to has not been generated yet? (the element is to be generated dynamically).
The jQuery method I've seen is $('element').css('property','value');, but this relies on element being on the page. Is there a way of finding out what the property is set to within the CSS rather than the computed style of an element?
Hello,
I have a ajax, jquery form which works fine, but returning a message from <div></div>. I want to return a value from a db query, a single value.

How do I use jQuery to determine the size of the browser viewport, and to redetect this if the page is resized? I need to make an IFRAME size into this space (coming in a little on each margin).
For those who don't know, the browser viewport is not the size of the document/page. It is the visible size of your window before the scroll.
Hi,
According to the documentation for the JQuery validation plugin:
the validation is lazy: Before submitting the form for the first time, the user can tab through fields without getting annoying messages
Is there any way to display the messages as the user tabs through the form?
Cheers
jQuery made javascript so easy for me, I was able to get up and running in a couple of hours doing most tasks.
Which PHP framework has similar ease of use and rapid development/write less ability? Or am I stuck basically learning a new language no matter what framework I decide on?
When I use jQuery for a simple click event it only works for links. Is there a way to make it work for spans etc:
$("span.clicked").live("click", function(e){alert("span clicked!")});
$("a.clicked").live("click", function(e){alert("link clicked!")});
Example is here:
http://ip1n.j-www.com/test/index2.html
The SPAN works in Safari but not Mobile Safari (on iPhone or iPad) whereas the A tag works in both.
Hey, I'm a little confused about a simple jQuery statement...
I want the operation to proceed only if A and B are true. If A isn't true, stop. If A and B are true, then continue.
Thanks!
I am attempting to set a value in a textarea field using jquery with the following code:
$("textarea#ExampleMessage").attr("value", result.exampleMessage);
The issue is, once this code executes, it is not altering the text in the textarea?
However when performing an alert($("textarea#ExampleMessage").attr("value")) the newly set value is returned?

Not sure if this is possible but can you load and unload into a div on a jquery toggle?
something a bit like this?
$("#IDOFCLICK").live('click',function(){
$(this).toggleClass("active").('#IDOFDIVTOLOAD').load('PAAGETOLOAD').slideToggle("slow");
});
if you can I guess the above is not right, but, how would you also unload on the "reverse" toggle?
I was wondering if there was any way to, using jQuery, animate properties of text-shadow like size or colour.
It's annoying that there aren't individual properties like text-shadow-color instead of the statement only being available in combined form.
Hi all,
I am fairly new to JQuery API.
I have been using mouseover, but I have never used hover before.
SO I am wondering if I should use hover instead.
I have the following code that in IE gives me an error in jQuery for "open(G,M.url,M.async"
$("#submitButton").click(function(){
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "http://url.com/postChat.php",
data: "comment="+$("#userInput").val(),
success: function(msg){
}
});
});
Any ideas as to why this would happen in IE?
