    I am trying to set up a MySQL trigger that does the following: When someone inserts data into databaseA.bills, it verifies if databaseB.bills already has that row, if it doesn't, then it does an additional insert into databaseB.bills. Here is what I have: CREATE TRIGGER ins_bills AFTER INSERT ON databaseA.bills FOR EACH ROW BEGIN IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM databaseB.bills WHERE billNumber=NEW.billNumber) THEN INSERT INTO databaseB.bills (billNumber) VALUES (NEW.billNumber) END IF END;// DELIMITER ; The problem is, I can't create it through mysql console or phpMyAdmin. It returns syntax errors near END IF END, and I am sure it's a delimiter problem. #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'END IF END' at line 6 What am I doing wrong?

    I've been handed a rather large, old, and crusty Access 2000/2003 database to clean up. I'll need to rename a number of tables and fields, but need to do so in a way that doesn't break existing queries. (Fortunately, there are no macros, forms, or reports to worry about.) I've heard there are some commercial tools to make this job easier, but only found one (http://www.rickworld.com/products.html). Can anyone recommend this software, or any alternatives?

    Hi Everyone I would really like to create a view. I know you can't use temp tables in MSSQL2005 views. Without rewriting the sql, is there anything obvious I've missed? Backup plan is to use a stored proc.     I want to make this clear up front : I know how this trick works, what I want is a link to a clear explanation to share with others. One of the answers to a C macro question talks about the "X macro" or "not yet defined macro" idiom. This involves defining something like: #define MAGIC_LIST \ X(name_1, default_1) \ X(name_2, default_2) \ ... Then to create, say, an array of values with named indices you do: typedef enum { #define X(name, val) name, MAGIC_LIST #undef X } NamedDefaults; You can repeat the procedure with a different #define for X() to create an array of values, and maybe debugging strings, etc. I'd like a link to a clear explanation of how this works, pitched at someone who is passably familiar with C. I have no idea what everyone usually calls this pattern, though, so my attempts to search the web for it have failed thus far. (If there is such an explanation on SO, that'd be fine...)

    Hello, Say I have a string. Then I have a number of unique tokens or keywords, potentially a large number in a database. I want to search and find out which of these database strings are inside the string I provide (and get the IDs of them). Is there a way of using a query to search the provided string or must it be taken to application space? Am I right in thinking that this is not a 'full text search'? Would the best method be to insert it into the database to make it a full text search?

  • Displaying a To-Many Relationship in a Table View

    I've got an application I've been working on. There are projects and employees, projects can have several employees, employees can work on several projects. Right now I want selecting a project to display which employees are related to it, and allows me to add employees I select from another full-roster list. Somehow, this has proven more complicated, because (at least for now), selecting different projects still displays the same list of employees, as if all employees who'd been assigned to any project, belong to all of them. What part of Master-Detail am I missing?

    I have to create 2 tables: Magazine ( 10 millions of rows with these columns: id, title, genres, printing, price ) Author ( 180 millions of rows with these columns: id, name, magazine_id ) . Every author can write on ONLY ONE magazine and every magazine has more authors. So if I want to know all authors of Motors Magazine, I have to use this query: SELECT * FROM Author, Magazine WHERE ( Author.id = Magazine.id ) AND ( genres = 'Motors' ) The same applies to Printing and Price column. To avoid these joins with tables of millions of rows, I thought to use this tables: Magazine ( 10 millions of rows with this column: id, title, genres, printing, price ) Author ( 180 millions of rows with this column: id, name, magazine_id, genres, printing, price ) . and this query: SELECT * FROM Author WHERE genres = 'Motors' Is it a good approach ? I can use Postgresql or Mysql.

    I cant seem to wrap my head around this. I have googled, and overstacked for hours now looking for examples that i can relate to. What I have is two arrays. The name of my first NSMutableArray is "showDates". I have 3 objects in here. Object 0: "Today, May 20th" Object 1: "Tomorrow, May 21st" Object 2: "Saturday, May 22nd" Then I have my second NSMutableArray named "showTimes" I have about 15 objects in there with strings in each object. ( i hope that makes sense? ) Each object is structured like this: Object 0: showID @"98022" eventID @"833" showTime @"1:30pm" showDate @"Today, May 20th" auditorium @"9" venue @"2991" Object 1: showID @"98222" eventID @"813" showTime @"2:30pm" showDate @"Tomorrow, May 21st" auditorium @"9" venue @"2991" Etc, etc, .... I have the headers working great in my tableView, but I cant seem to figure out how to add the objects in my "showTimes" array under the correct header. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
