  Hi, I have problem with streaming. When I send small file like 1kb txt everything is ok, but when I send larger file like 100 kb jpg or 2gb psd I get: The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request.   So I've been working on trying to figure this out, oddly when I ran it one machine I got a generic Axis Fault with no description, but now on another machine I'm getting a different error message, but I'm still stuck. Basically I'm just trying to do what I thought would be a fairly trivial task of creating a new incident in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 via a web services call. I started by downloading the XML from http://hostname/MSCrmServices/2007/CrmService.asmx and generating code from it using Axis2. • threaded serial port IOException when writing

  Hi, I'm trying to write a small application that simply reads data from a socket, extracts some information (two integers) from the data and sends the extracted information off on a serial port. The idea is that it should start and just keep going. In short, it works, but not for long. After a consistently short period I start to receive IOExceptions and socket receive buffer is swamped. The thread framework has been taken from the MSDN serial port example. The delay in send(), readThread.Join(), is an effort to delay read() in order to allow serial port interrupt processing a chance to occur, but I think I've misinterpreted the join function. I either need to sync the processes more effectively or throw some data away as it comes in off the socket, which would be fine. • Is That REST API Really RPC? Roy Fielding Seems to Think So.

  A large amount of what I thought I knew about REST is apparently wrong - and I'm not alone. This question has a long lead-in, but it seems to be necessary because the information is a bit scattered. The actual question comes at the end if you're already familiar with this topic. From the first paragraph of Roy Fielding's REST APIs must be hypertext-driven, it's pretty clear he believes his work is being widely misinterpreted: I am getting frustrated by the number of people calling any HTTP-based interface a REST API. Today’s example is the SocialSite REST API. That is RPC. It screams RPC. There is so much coupling on display that it should be given an X rating. Fielding goes on to list several attributes of a REST API. Some of them seem to go against both common practice and common advice on SO and other forums. For example: A REST API should be entered with no prior knowledge beyond the initial URI (bookmark) and set of standardized media types that are appropriate for the intended audience (i.e., expected to be understood by any client that might use the API). ... A REST API must not define fixed resource names or hierarchies (an obvious coupling of client and server). ... A REST API should spend almost all of its descriptive effort in defining the media type(s) used for representing resources and driving application state, or in defining extended relation names and/or hypertext-enabled mark-up for existing standard media types. ... The idea of "hypertext" plays a central role - much more so than URI structure or what HTTP verbs mean. "Hypertext" is defined in one of the comments: When I [Fielding] say hypertext, I mean the simultaneous presentation of information and controls such that the information becomes the affordance through which the user (or automaton) obtains choices and selects actions. Hypermedia is just an expansion on what text means to include temporal anchors within a media stream; most researchers have dropped the distinction. Hypertext does not need to be HTML on a browser. Machines can follow links when they understand the data format and relationship types. I'm guessing at this point, but the first two points above seem to suggest that API documentation for a Foo resource that looks like the following leads to tight coupling between client and server and has no place in a RESTful system. GET /foos/{id} # read a Foo POST /foos/{id} # create a Foo PUT /foos/{id} # update a Foo Instead, an agent should be forced to discover the URIs for all Foos by, for example, issuing a GET request against /foos. (Those URIs may turn out to follow the pattern above, but that's beside the point.) The response uses a media type that is capable of conveying how to access each item and what can be done with it, giving rise to the third point above. For this reason, API documentation should focus on explaining how to interpret the hypertext contained in the response. Furthermore, every time a URI to a Foo resource is requested, the response contains all of the information needed for an agent to discover how to proceed by, for example, accessing associated and parent resources through their URIs, or by taking action after the creation/deletion of a resource. The key to the entire system is that the response consists of hypertext contained in a media type that itself conveys to the agent options for proceeding. It's not unlike the way a browser works for humans. But this is just my best guess at this particular moment. Fielding posted a follow-up in which he responded to criticism that his discussion was too abstract, lacking in examples, and jargon-rich: Others will try to decipher what I have written in ways that are more direct or applicable to some practical concern of today. I probably won’t, because I am too busy grappling with the next topic, preparing for a conference, writing another standard, traveling to some distant place, or just doing the little things that let me feel I have I earned my paycheck. So, two simple questions for the REST experts out there with a practical mindset: how do you interpret what Fielding is saying and how do you put it into practice when documenting/implementing REST APIs? Edit: this question is an example of how hard it can be to learn something if you don't have a name for what you're talking about. The name in this case is "Hypermedia as the Engine of Application State" (HATEOAS).

  I have a WCF Web Service with basicHTTPBinding , the server side the transfer mode is streamedRequest as the client will be sending us large file in the form of memory stream. But on client side when i use transfer mode as streamedRequest its giving me a this errro "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request" And when i look in to trace information , i see this as the error message Exception: There is a problem with the XML that was received from the network. See inner exception for more details. InnerException: The body of the message cannot be read because it is empty. I am able to send up to 5MB of data using trasfermode as buffered , but it will effect the performance of my web service in the long run , if there are many clients who are trying to access the service in buffered transfer mode. It seems like I have all the right Boost #includes for the HostContainer to be understood. What else could be going wrong? I would appreciate immediate suggestions, troubleshooting tips, and other advice about my code. My plan is to create a "HostContainer.h" file that includes the typedef and structs that define its tags, similar to what I'm doing in "Event.h" for the EventPQ container. I'm assuming this is legal and good form.

• ExpressionEngine Segment Variables Lost on Site Index Page

  Hey Everyone, I've been messing with this for days now and can't seem to figure it out. I am trying to pass a 2nd segment variable to my client's index page. The URL I'm trying is: http://www.compupay.com/site/CSCPA/. The problem is, rather than showing the site's index page with the segment variable of "CSCPA" still in the URL, it shows the index page with no segment variables. Initially, I thought it was a .htaccess problem but I couldn't find anything in it that seemed out of whack. Any ideas? I am posting the .htaccess file so another pair of eyes can see it. For testing purposes, I am just applying a simple threshold filter that will process a BGRA format image and assign each pixel to either be black or white based on the average of the BGR pixels. • Asp.net Google Charts SSL handler for GeoMap

  Hi All, I am trying to view Google charts in a site using SSL. Google Charts do not support SSL so if we use the standard charts, we get warning messages. My plan is to create a ASHX handler that is co9ntained in the secure site that will retrieve the content from Google and serve this to the page the user is viewing. Using VS 2008 SP1 and the included web server, my idea works perfectly for both Firefox and IE 8 & 9(Preview) and I am able to see my geomap displayed on my page as it should be. But my problem is when I publish to IIS7 the page using my handler to generate the geomap works in Firefox but not IE(every version). There are no errors anywhere or in any log files, but when i right click in IE in the area where the map should be displayed, I see the message in the context menu saying "movie not loaded" Below is the code from my handler and the aspx page. I have disabled compression in my web.config. Even in IE I am hitting all my break points and when I use the IE9 Developer tools, the web page is correctly generated with all the correct code, url's and references. If you have any better ways to accomplish this or how i can fix my problem, I will appreciate it. • Fragment shaders on a texture

  Hello stack overflow. I am trying to add some post-processing capabilities to a program. The rendering is done using openGL. I just want to allow the program to load some home made fragment shader and use them on the video stream. I wrote a little piece of shader using "OpenGL Shader Builder" that just turns a texture in grayscale. The shaders works well in the shader builder but I can't make it work in the main program. The screens stays all black. I think the problem comes from the "passing the texture as a uniform parameter" thing. But these are my very firsts step with openGL and I cant be sure of anything.   I want to get multiple file by parsing a input file Through Java. The Input file contains many fasta format of thousands of protein sequence and I want to generate raw format(i.e., without any comma semicolon and without any extra symbol like "", "[", "]" etc) of each protein sequence. A fasta sequence starts form "" symbol followed by description of protein and then sequence of protein. I have made sure my HTML is XHTML compliant, I have made sure I am getting no Routing errors or crashes in my event log on the server.... Now obviously I have been a muppet and have done something wrong... but what I cant fathom is why in development all works fine, and in production all non IE browsers also work fine, but IE 8 using IIS 6.0 production server is having some kind of problem in returning this PNG and I dont have an error to trace... so what I am looking for is guidance as to how I can debug this problem.

• XML over HTTP with JMS and Spring

  I have a legacy HTTP server where I need to send an XML file over HTTP request (POST) using Java (not browser) and the server will respond with another XML in its HTTP response. It is similar to Web Service but there's no WSDL and I have to follow the existing XML structure to construct my XML to be sent. I have done a research and found an example that matches my requirement here. The example uses HttpClient from Apache Commons. (There are also other examples I found but they use java.net networking package (like URLConnection) which is tedious so I don't want to use them). But it's also my requirement to use Spring and JMS. I know from Spring's reference that it's possible to combine HttpClient, JMS and Spring. My question is, how? Note that it's NOT in my requirement to use HttpClient. If you have a better suggestion, I'm welcome. Appreciate it.
