  • Facebook iframe app redirecting https to http, how?

    I'm trying to get an app working within Facebook, but it seems that no matter what I try including forcing just https in the app settings (see screen shot), the iframe source (Facebooks canvas) seems to change the https address to http (301) which is then producing SEC7111: HTTPS security errors in IE?   • InApp subscriptions - trasferability

    Apple has rejected one of our apps, where the user can purchase content through subscriptions (InApp product type is subscription). The problem is that we need to, also because of Apple requiring it, these subscriptions to be transferable between devices. The logical and also the most secure solution would be to link it to a user account, that the user will have to create. But this was the reason why apple rejected this app. They have told us that for purchasing of subscriptions a registration can not be required, can be only optional. So the question is how to solve this if there is no other nice solution that would make sense, be secure and still comfortable for the user?

  • Android: how to have app talk to a web page, ie send gps location

    I'm trying to write a app, where a webpage will have a button that when press will give the GPS location of the phone. I was going to have the android app create a thread that waits on a scket connection. The issue is that 1. Getting the ip addrs of the phone 2. I was told this would really drain the battery I was also thinking about having the phone send the gps location to a webserver like evrry 10 seconds. This sort of seams like a waste of bandwidth. Is there a good way to do this?

    After going through few articles about performance, Not able to get this statement exactly. "When a Drawable is attached to a view, the view is set as a callback on the drawable" Soln: "Setting the stored drawables’ callbacks to null when the activity is destroyed." What does that mean, e.g. In my app , I initialize an imageButton in onCreate() like this, imgButton= (ImageButton) findViewById(R.id.imagebtn); At later stage, I get an image from an url, get the stream and convert that to drawable, and set image btn like this, imgButton.setImageDrawable(drawable); According to the above statement, when I am exiting my app, say in onDestroy() I have to set stored drawables’ callbacks to null, not able to understand this part ! In this simple case what I have to set as null ? I am using Android 2.2 Froyo, whether this technique is required, or not necessary.

  • data loading - app launching on tableview

    hi, i encounter an issue with my application. On one hand when my app launches, the first view displayed is a tableview within a tableviewcontroller. On the other hand my app calls a web service to collect data. These methods are in MyAppDelegate\applicationDidFinishLaunching. The thing is that my tableview is made of custom cells that need data from the web service. I noticed that the view (with the tableview) is launched first and then MyAppDelegate\applicationDidFinishLaunchin is executed. As a result the labels of my custom cells are all equal to null as my arrays aren't filled yet by the web service. I would like to know the proper way to make it. If anyone has an idea please tell me. Wallou

  • iPhone App/Java Server Struct Data Issue over WiFi

    I currently have an iPhone app that communicates with a C++ server running on a computer, over WiFi. This app is sending its data (x,y coordinates) in a c-struct to the server. For further development, we would like the iPhone application to communicate directly with a java server, however the major issue is that java does not have the ability to emulate or use a c-struct. What would be the best way to send data (x,y coordinates) between the two devices? I can already establish a connection between the two devices. More specifically how I would receive the data and process it on the Java end. Thanks for your help, Alex

    For reasons unknown my app shuts down upon pressing a UIButton in the simulator. I have dynamically added my UIView, if that is of relevance. No tracelog or debug information just a rush exit... This is the simple code (.m-file): - (IBAction) testButtonPressed: (id) sender{ NSLog (@"Testbutton pressed."); } From the header file: - (IBAction) testButtonPressed: (id) sender; Pretty basic stuff, but for some reason the app terminates.     So I've written my first Android app, ... and want to be able to provide both free and paid versions. I wrote and compiled it in Eclipse on Windows. I'm wondering if it is possible, and how I would go about doing so, to have separate compile jobs somehow, so that I can maintain my free and paid versions from one set of source code, and just leave out certain bits for the paid version, but keep the main source the same. What are the recommended ways/best practices for devving a paid and free version of the same app from one set of source? Is it even possible?

I downloaded the latest release at http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software, cd'ed to the directory and unziped the package.   • "Content is not allowed in prolog" when parsing perfectly valid XML on GAE

    Hey guys, I've been beating my head against this absolutely infuriating bug for the last 48 hours, so I thought I'd finally throw in the towel and try asking here before I throw my laptop out the window. I'm trying to parse the response XML from a call I made to AWS SimpleDB. The response is coming back on the wire just fine; for example, it may look like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ListDomainsResponse xmlns="http://sdb.amazonaws.com/doc/2009-04-15/"> <ListDomainsResult> <DomainName>Audio</DomainName> <DomainName>Course</DomainName> <DomainName>DocumentContents</DomainName> <DomainName>LectureSet</DomainName> <DomainName>MetaData</DomainName> <DomainName>Professors</DomainName> <DomainName>Tag</DomainName> </ListDomainsResult> <ResponseMetadata> <RequestId>42330b4a-e134-6aec-e62a-5869ac2b4575</RequestId> <BoxUsage>0.0000071759</BoxUsage> </ResponseMetadata> </ListDomainsResponse> I pass in this XML to a parser with XMLEventReader eventReader = xmlInputFactory.createXMLEventReader(response.getContent()); and call eventReader.nextEvent(); a bunch of times to get the data I want. Here's the bizarre part -- it works great inside the local server. The response comes in, I parse it, everyone's happy. Nothing; it passes every validation test I could throw at it. Even stranger, it happens if I use a Saxon-based parser as well -- but ONLY on GAE, it always works fine in my local environment. It makes it very hard to trace the code for problems when I can only run the debugger on an environment that works perfectly (I haven't found any good way to remotely debug on GAE). Nevertheless, using the primitive means I have, I've tried a million approaches including: XML with and without the prolog With and without newlines With and without the "encoding=" attribute in the prolog Both newline styles With and without the chunking information present in the HTTP stream And I've tried most of these in multiple combinations where it made sense they would interact -- nothing! I'm at my wit's end. Has anyone seen an issue like this before that can hopefully shed some light on it? Thanks!

  • grails run-war connects to mysql but grails run-war doesn't

    Hi, I have a unexpected problem. I had create a war with grails war. Then I had deployed in Tomcat. For my surprise the crud works fine but I don't know what persistence is using. So I did this test: Compare grails prod run-app with grails prod run-war. The first works fine, and does conect with the mysql database. The other don't.   • Cheetah with Cherrypy: how to load base templates, and do so automatically on change during developm

    I am working on a cherrypy+cheetah app and would like to improve the development experience. I have everything working when I manually compile templates beforehand. However, during development I'd rather just load the templates every time they are referenced so that I don't need to kill and restart my application. I have a couple of issues I am facing: If I have templates inheriting from base templates, I get import errors (can't find base templates). I think I had this actually working during my experiments, but unfortunately didn't save it and now I can't make it work. Suppose I get 1. working, how do make it so that edits even in base templates get picked up without restart. Below is my sample application that should demonstrate the problems.   • Why doesn't my android application show up in the launcher?

    I'm developing an application for the Android platform targeted for api level 4 (Android 1.6) but I can't get it to show up on my phone and I can't figure out why. Here's my AndroidManifest.xml is there a problem in here?   • GAE AttributeError

    My GAE app runs fine from my computer, but when I upload it, I start getting an AttributeError, specifically: AttributeError: 'dict' object has no attribute 'item' I am using the pylast interface (an API for last.fm--link). Specifically, I am accessing a list of variables of this type: SimilarItem = _namedtuple("SimilarItem", ["item", "match"]) I have a variable of this type, call it sim, and I am trying to access sim.item when I get the attribute error. I should note that I am using Python 2.6 on my computer, and I understand that GAE runs on Python 2.5. Would that make a difference here? I thought they were backwards-compatible. Lastly, I think it could be a possible problem with the modules that pylast imports--maybe they don't work with GAE or something? I did some research but I didn't get any results.
