I am using the Java Robot class to take screenshots, my problem is that in W7 when the UAC dialog is shown (i right click on any application and select run as Admin) it will not appear in the screen shot or the whole screen is just black. Running my application with admin rights or as a service does not solve the problem.
Please, does any one know what to do so that i will be able to capture the screen even when the UAC is showing?
Thanks
I was surprised to see in the Java source that System.arraycopy is a native method.
Of course the reason is because it's faster. But what native tricks is the code able to employ that make it faster?
Why not just loop over the original array and copy each pointer to the new array - surely this isn't that slow and cumbersome?
Thanks,

I have two Numbers. Eg:
Number a = 2;
Number b = 3;
//Following is an error:
Number c = a + b;
Why arithmetic operations are not supported on Numbers? Anyway how would I add these two numbers in java? (Of course I'm getting them from somewhere and I don't know if they are Integer or float etc).

Does java have a built-in method to compare precedence of two operators? For example, if I have a char '/' and a char '+' is there a method I can call that compares the two and returns true/false if the first is greater than the second (e.g. true)?
My Java desktop application includes a component for communicating with a web service.
We therefore need to include the access details for it within the application, but do not want it to be easily accessible in the event that the code is decompiled (we will be obfuscating).
What techniques can we use to secure these details?

I have a Java app that has an icon in the system tray.
How can I check if the tray (or tray icon) has current focus?
Tray and TrayIcon don't seem to have .isFocused() or similar.
Is this possible?

So i'm writing a WebService in Java that should receive a file as an input, and then the WebService does some processing on that file, and finally it should send a new file to the client.
My question is :
How do I send a file to the client? (and how can I tell them to upload one).

In VB.NET there is the WITH command that lets you omit an object name and only access the methods and properties needed. For example:
With foo
.bar()
.reset(true)
myVar = .getName()
End With
Is there any such syntax within Java?
Thanks!

Does anyone know what approach one can take to automatically generate Java source code, from for example an xml or json file, in eclipse?
One great example of what I am thinking of doing is what Google Android sdk does: they have an R class generated automatically from the resources.
Every time a resource file is saved in Eclipse R class is automatically regenerated.
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a library which provides this kind of functionality?
Ive done some googling and have come up with nothing.
