  • Substring text with html tags in javascript

    - by honzahommer
    Do you have solution to substring text with html tags in Javascipt? For example: var str = 'Lorem ipsum <a href="#">dolor <strong>sit</strong> amet</a>, consectetur adipiscing elit.' html_substr(str, 20) // return Lorem ipsum <a href="#">dolor <strong>si</strong></a> html_substr(str, 30) // return Lorem ipsum <a href="#">dolor <strong>sit</strong> amet</a>, co

  • using javascript replace() to match the last occurance of a string

    - by Dave
    I'm building an 'add new row' function for product variations, and I'm struggling with the regex required to match the form attribute keys. So, I'm basically cloning rows, then incrementing the keys, like this (coffeescript): newrow = oldrow.find('select, input, textarea').each -> this.name = this.name.replace(/\[(\d+)\]/, (str, p1) -> "[" + (parseInt(p1, 10) + 1) + "]" ) this.id = this.id.replace(/\_(\d+)\_/, (str, p1) -> "_" + (parseInt(p1, 10) + 1) + "_" ) .end() This correctly increments a field with a name of product[variations][1][name], turning it into product[variations][2][name] BUT Each variation can have multiple options (eg, color can be red, blue, green), so I need to be able turn this product[variations][1][options][2][name] into product[variations][1][options][3][name], leaving the variation key alone. What regex do I need to match only the last occurrence of a key (the options key)?

Everything is within $(document).ready( function() { // code goes here }

  • javascript instanceof get type from string name

    - by dcp
    Let's say I have this (assume the name variable is "receiver"): if (!(receiver instanceof com.HTMLReceiver)) { throw new com.IllegalArgumentException( name + " is not an instance of com.HTMLReceiver."); } I'd like to factor this code out into a common method so I could call it like this: Helper.checkInstance(receiver, "com.HTMLReceiver"); But I don't know of a way to convert the com.HTMLReceiver from a string to its actual type so I can use instanceof on it. Is there a way?

  • How do I return a variable in javascript?

    - by bmckim
    I am working with the google maps API and whenever I return the variable to the initialize function from the codeLatLng function it claims undefined. If I print the variable from the codeLatLng it shows up fine. var geocoder; function initialize() { geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(40.730885,-73.997383); var addr = codeLatLng(); document.write(addr); } function codeLatLng() { var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(40.730885,-73.997383); if (geocoder) { geocoder.geocode({'latLng': latlng}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { if (results[1]) { return results[1].formatted_address; } else { alert("No results found"); } } else { alert("Geocoder failed due to: " + status); } }); } } prints out undefined If I do: var geocoder; function initialize() { geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(40.730885,-73.997383); codeLatLng(); } function codeLatLng() { var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(40.730885,-73.997383); if (geocoder) { geocoder.geocode({'latLng': latlng}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { if (results[1]) { document.write(results[1].formatted_address); } else { alert("No results found"); } } else { alert("Geocoder failed due to: " + status); } }); } } prints out New York, NY 10012, USA

  • Javascript Popup Windows

    - by sikas
    I have a popup window code that I have used before in login forms. The code displays an in-page popup. This is the code: <?php //In Page Popup Box with Faded Background by Jerry Low @crankberryblog.com //Find other useful scripts at the Crankberry Blog //SETTINGS $fade_amount = 60; //In Percentage $box_width = 400; $box_background = 'FFFFFF'; //Hex Color $box_border_width = 2; $box_border_color = '999999'; //Hex Color $close_box = 1; //Do You Want The Close Bar on Top 1 = Yes, 0 = No $extension = ""; // Other Variables that maybe needed, page number etc. //Begin Popup Box $left_margin = ( 0 - ($box_width*0.5) ); $page_url = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); if ($extension!="") $page_url .= '?' . $extension; if (isset($_GET['popup'])) { echo '<div class="popup" style="width:'.$box_width.'px; background: #'.$box_background.'; margin-left:'.$left_margin.'px;'; if ($box_border_width>1) echo ' border: '.$box_border_width.'px solid #'.$box_border_color.';'; echo '">'; //Close Box if ($close_box===1) echo '<div class="popup_close"><a href="'.$page_url.'">Close (x)</a></div>'; ?> <!–- START YOUR POPUP CONTENT HERE -–> Popup content goes in here! <!–- END OF YOUR POPUP CONTENT HERE -–> <?php echo '</div> <div class="fade" onclick="location.replace(\''.$page_url.'\');" style="opacity: 0.'.$fade_amount.'; -moz-opacity: 0.'.$fade_amount.';filter: alpha(opacity: '.$fade_amount.');"></div> <div class="fade_container">'; } ?> <a href="?popup=1<?php if ($extension!="") echo '&' . $extension; ?>">Activated Box</a> This code contains a link that reloads the page with parameters/arguments to show the popup. I want to update this code to make the popup appear/hide without This is what I have done so far, yet the popup doesn`t show. Now I want to update the code to work as follows. <link rel=StyleSheet href="css/popup.css" type="text/css" media=screen></link> <?php //In Page Popup Box with Faded Background by Jerry Low @crankberryblog.com //Find other useful scripts at the Crankberry Blog //SETTINGS $fade_amount = 60; //In Percentage $box_width = 400; $box_background = 'FFFFFF'; //Hex Color $box_border_width = 2; $box_border_color = '999999'; //Hex Color $close_box = 1; //Do You Want The Close Bar on Top 1 = Yes, 0 = No $extension = ""; // Other Variables that maybe needed, page number etc. //Begin Popup Box $left_margin = ( 0 - ($box_width*0.5) ); $page_url = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); if ($extension!="") $page_url .= '?' . $extension; { echo '<div id="pop_up" class="popup" style="visibility:hidden; width:'.$box_width.'px; background: #'.$box_background.'; margin-left:'.$left_margin.'px;'; if ($box_border_width>1) echo ' border: '.$box_border_width.'px solid #'.$box_border_color.';'; echo '">'; //Close Box if ($close_box===1) echo '<div class="popup_close"><a href="#" ChangeStatus()>Close (x)</a></div>'; ?> <!–- START YOUR POPUP CONTENT HERE -–> Popup content goes in here! <!–- END OF YOUR POPUP CONTENT HERE -–> <?php echo '</div> <div id="fade_div" class="fade" onclick="location.replace(\''.$page_url.'\');" style="visibility:hidden; opacity: 0.'.$fade_amount.'; -moz-opacity: 0.'.$fade_amount.';filter: alpha(opacity: '.$fade_amount.');"></div> <div class="fade_container">'; } ?> <a href="#" onClick="ChangeStatus()">Activated Box</a> <script> function ChangeStatus() { div = document.getElementById('fade_div').style.visibility; popup = document.getElementById('pop_up').style.visibility; alert(popup); if(popup == "hidden") { div = "visible"; popup = "visible"; } else { div = "hidden"; popup = "hidden"; } } </script> ignore the CSS files as it is working fine.   • Is there a way to jail in Javascript, so that the DOM isn't visible

    - by TiansHUo
    I would really like to provide the user some scripting capabilities, while not giving it access to the more powerful features, like altering the DOM. That is, all input/output is tunneled thru a given interface. Like a kind of restricted javacsript. Example: If the interface is checkanswer(func) this are allowed: checkanswer( function (x,y)={ return x+y; } but these are not allowed: alert(1) document.write("hello world") eval("alert()")

  • Javascript pass reference by value

    - by Carlos R. Batista
    Im having this weird reference issue when im trying to get a JSON file through query: var themeData; $.getJSON("json/sample.js", function(data) { themeData = data.theme; console.log(themeData.sample[0].description); }); console.log(themeData.sample[0].description); The first console.log works, the second doesnt. Im guessing because "data" already expired by the time the script gets there and themeData is just a mere pointer to "data". Is there a ways I can make sure themeData gets a duplicate of "data" and not just a pointer to it?

  • Javascript .match plus jQuery keyup(), double match and strange behaviour

    - by Gremo
    Not really good in regular expression, but why when a match is found console.log fires two times? $('#name').keyup(function() { var regex = /[\€]/g; var count = (m = $(this).val().match(regex)) ? m.length : 0; // Num matches console.log(count); }); Output with 'hello': 0 0 0 0 0 After adding '€' symbol to 'hello' we have: 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 After adding 'h' symbol to 'hello€' we have: 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 Shouldn't be just one 1 after adding '€' to 'hello'?

  • Check if CSS Class exists in StyleSheet using javascript/jQuery

    - by Akhil Sekharan
    Is there a way to check if there is a class named 'some-class-name' in css? For example, I have: <style type="text/css"> .box { position: absolute; left: 150%; } </style> My intention is to randomly assign a class to a div on certain event: var classList = []; //Need to populate this array $('#updateClass').on('click', function() { $('#resultDiv').attr('class',classList[Math.floor((Math.random()*classList.length)+1)]); }); Is it possible to check by JS/jQuery whether a class named 'box' exists in the stylesheet? Thanks.

  • Need a Javascript Expert, IE slow script

    - by Aaron Carlino
    I have a jQuery plugin running on my site that is executing very, very slowly in IE7/8 to the point that it throws a slow script warning to the user. It doesn't happen in any other browser, and I can't figure out what might be going on. If you go to this page: http://dev.xeetic.org/projects You'll see that there are 16 results on each page, and each one has a "flip" behavior attached, using the jQuery plugin "quickflip." Attaching this behavior is very slow in IE. If I reduce the result set to 8 or 4 per page, it's faster, but still very bogged down. I have contacted the author of the script with no success. I am willing to pay for a solution, if I'm allowed to offer such a thing on this site. Very desperate. Please help!

  • Chrome extension javascript array bug?

    - by Wayne Werner
    Hi, I'm working on a Google Chrome extension. In the popup I have the following code: var bookmarks = []; function appendBMTnode(node){ bookmarks.push([node[0].title, node[0].id]); } function addchildren(results){ for(x = 0; x < results.length; x++){ bookmarks.push([results[x].title, results[x].id]); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren(results[x].id, addchildren); } } function getallbookmarks(){ chrome.bookmarks.get('0', appendBMTnode); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren('0', addchildren); } console.debug(bookmarks.length); console.debug(bookmarks); Now, I would assume that the first command would issue the # of bookmarks I have. Indeed, when I use Chrome's debugger and add bookmarks.length to the watch list, 418 is the value. In the console of the debugger I can write bookmarks.length and it will give me the correct length. I can type for(x = 0; x < bookmarks.length; x++){ console.debug(bookmarks[x]); } and I get string representations of each inner array. However, that original console.debug(bookmarks.length) gives an output of zero. And if I add console.debug(bookmarks[0]); to the popup.html it tells me that the value is undefined. This seems like a bug to me, but my real question is how can I iterate over this list? Thanks

  • How to parse HTML from JavaScript in Firefox?

    - by hmp
    What is the best way to parse (get a DOM tree of) a HTML result of XmlHttpRequest in Firefox? EDIT: I do not have the DOM tree, I want to acquire it. XmlHttpRequest's "responseXML" works only when the result is actual XML, so I have only responseText to work with. The innerHTML hack doesn't seem to work with a complete HTML document (in <html</html). - turns out it works fine.

  • Retrieve text from external HTML/asp page with JavaScript

    - by Rotem
    Hi, I am using an external asp page (On the company's server - not related to me beside the fact that I'm using it for my job). The asp page has one query in it, I'm writing something in it and it gives me some information. In the information there is a certain line with constant header (let's assume 'HEADER'), I want to build an HTA that pulls the line that contains 'HEADER' to my HTA and display only this line. I think that this isn't possible without any server interaction, but I'm asking anyway. Can someone think of a way doing it? Thanks, Rotem

  • How to get array keys in Javascript?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
    I have an array created with this code: var widthRange = new Array(); widthRange[46] = { sel:46, min:0, max:52 }; widthRange[66] = { sel:66, min:52, max:70 }; widthRange[90] = { sel:90, min:70, max:94 }; I want to get each of the values 46, 66, 90 in a loop. I tried for (var key in widthRange) but this gives me a whole bunch of extra properties (I assume they are functions on the object). I can't use a regular for loop since the values are not sequential.

If CSS class is assigning CSS to element can't we read its value in JS ? Does this mean that if we are not assigning property directly to the element we cant get it if in case its inheriting it ?

  • [Javascript] Prevent an element from being the target in a document mouseover

    - by Sander
    I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted. Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target. Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.

  • Form submit in javascript

    - by zac
    Hi been wrestling this form and the last step (actually submitting) has me scratching my head. What I have so far is the form: <form id="theForm" method='post' name="emailForm"> <table border="0" cellspacing="2"> <td>Email <span class="red">*</span></td><td><input type='text'class="validate[required,custom[email]]" size="30"></td></tr> <td>First Name:</td><td><input type='text' name='email[first]' id='first_name' size=30></td></tr> <tr height="30"> <td cellpadding="4">Last Name:</td><td><input type='text' name='email[last]' id='e_last_name' size=30> <td>Birthday</td> <td><select name='month' style='width:70px; margin-right: 10px'> <option value=''>Month</option> <option value="1">Jan</option> <option value="2">Feb</option> .... </select><select name='day' style='width:55px; margin-right: 10px'> <option value=''>Day</option> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> ... <option value="31">31</option> </select><select name='year' style='width:60px;' > <option value=''>Year</option> <option value="2007">2007</option> <option value="2006">2006</option> <option value="2005">2005</option> ... </select> <input type='image' src='{{skin url=""}}images/email/signUpButt.gif' value='Submit' onClick="return checkAge()" /> <input type="hidden" id= "under13" name="under13" value="No"> and a script that checks the age and sets a cookie/changes display function checkAge() { var min_age = 13; var year = parseInt(document.forms["emailForm"]["year"].value); var month = parseInt(document.forms["emailForm"]["month"].value) - 1; var day = parseInt(document.forms["emailForm"]["day"].value); var theirDate = new Date((year + min_age), month, day); var today = new Date; if ( (today.getTime() - theirDate.getTime()) < 0) { var el = document.getElementById('emailBox'); if(el){ el.className += el.className ? ' youngOne' : 'youngOne'; } document.getElementById('emailBox').innerHTML = "<style type=\"text/css\">.formError {display:none}</style><p>Good Bye</p><p>You must be 13 years of age to sign up.</p>"; createCookie('age','not13',0) return false; } else { createCookie('age','over13',0) return true; }} that all seems to be working well.. just missing kind of a crucial step of actually submitting the form if it validates (if they pass the age question). So I am thinking that this will be wrapped in that script.. something in here : else { createCookie('age','over13',0) return true; } Can someone please help me figure out how I could handle this submit?
