    I have a table to entities (lets call them people) and properties (one person can have an arbitrary number of properties). Ex: People Name Age -------- Jane 27 Joe 36 Jim 16 Properties Name Property ----------------- Jane Smart Jane Funny Jane Good-looking Joe Smart Joe Workaholic Jim Funny Jim Young I would like to write an efficient select that would select people based on age and return all or some of their properties. Ex: People older than 26 Name Properties Jane Smart, Funny, Good-looking Joe Smart, Workaholic It's also acceptable to return one of the properties and total property count. The query should be efficient: there are millions of rows in people table, hundreds of thousands of rows in properties table (so most people have no properties). There are hundreds of rows selected at a time. Is there any way to do it?

    Im looking for a (free) solution to a bookingcalender. Among many candidates Ive found the Jquery Full Calender which has many cool features. One of the reason that I like this one is because it has "drag and drop" and resize, which I also need. But I also need to have the dayview where I the columms monday, tuesday, wedensday, thursday friday .... gets replaced with fx. Room1, Room2, Room3, Room4, Room5, Room6, Room7.     I have a macro that I use to replace special characters for its html entities. I would like to save it in my .vimrc. According to this, I should use let @r=' *macro_text_goes_here* '. The problem is that my macro is a series of search and replace, something like this: :%s:á:\&aacute;:Ige :%s:é:\&eacute;:Ige :%s:í:\&iacute;:Ige So, I've tried with ^V-enter, <enter>, <CR> using real line breaks, but it never works. On the other side, if I put the text on a register and then run the macro, it works as expected.

  • Problem with multiple forms on one page

    I have two forms on a web page. The first is not an actual form since this is a .NET based site. So instead I have the standard input fields, along with asp:Button PostBackURL="http:/www...". One of the fields is "email". That works fine. Then I have an XSLT file with another form, and am using Javascript (via this.form.action, .method, etc) to post that form. Besides that it has the same fields as the form above. The problem is that when someone submits the second form, the script at the PostBackURL returns an error because the "email" field appears empty. So it seems as though the form is submitting the "email" field form the top form instead of the current one. I thought maybe the wrong form is being submitted, but if I remove the "email" field from the top form, and then submit the bottom one, it works fine. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

    I'm using HttpRequest to download several pages from a website (in a loop). Simplifying it looks like this: HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create( "http://sub.domain.com/something/" + someString ); HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); //do something I'm not quite sure actually but every request seems to resolve the address again (I don't know how to test if I'm right). I would like to boost it a little and resolve the address once and then reuse it for all requests. I can't work out how to force HttpRequest into using it, though. I have tried using Dns.GetHostAddresses, converting the result to a string and passing it as the address to HttpWebRequest.Create. Unfortunately, server returns error 404 then. I managed to google that's probably because the "Host" header of the http query doesn't match what the server expects. Is there a simple way to solve this?

    I've been beating my head on the desk tring to figure this one out. I have a table that stores job information, and reasons for a job not being completed. The reasons are numeric,01,02,03,etc. You can have two reason for a pending job. If you select two reasons, they are stored in the same column, seperated by a comma. This is anExample from the JOBID table: Job_Number User_Assigned PendingInfo 1 user1 01,02 Now, there is another table named Pending, that stores what those values actually represent. 01=Not enough info, 02=Not enough time, 03=Waiting Review. Example: Pending_Num PendingWord 01 Not Enough Info 02 Not Enough Time What I'm trying to do is query the database to give me all the job numbers, users, pendinginfo, and pending reason. I can break out the first value, but can't figure out how to do the second.     I'm not sure how best to describe this problem... In short, I want to use object literal to allow me to pass a random amount of variables in any order to a function. Whilst this is not big deal in theory, in my code, this object literal is passed to a second function call on_change. on_change works comparing an element inner HTML to a string. if it is the same, it sets a time out of to call the function again (this is sort of/almost recursive, but the function dose actually get to end before it is called again). if the elements inner HTML is different from the string, then the third parameter is executed. this will either be a function or a string. either way it will execute. I have tested this function plenty and used it for a while now. how ever, it cannot seem to get the object literal to flow through the function calls... var params = { xpos:'false'}; on_change('window_3_cont_buffer','',' if(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[0].innerHTML == \'ERROR\'){ alert(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[1].innerHTML); return false; } else { Window_manager.windows[3].load_xml(\'location/view.php?location_ID=3\', \'\', ' + params + ' ); } '); I call this as part of the form submission. after this line, I then call a function to load some content via ajax, which works fine and will trigger the code from the on_change function. I have tested load_xml function it is able to call alert(param.xpos) and get the correct response. I can even added in a check for being undefined so that rest of the times I cam load_xml I don't get swamped with alerts. The load_xml function first set up the on_change function, then calls the function to load the content to a hidden div. Once the AJAX request has updated that DIV, the on_change function should now call the parse_xml function. This pulls out the information from the xml file. How ever... The idea of this object literal param is that it can tell this parse_xml function to ignore certain things. on_change("window_" + this.id + "_cont_buffer", "", "Window_manager.windows[" + this.id + "].parse_xml('" + param + "')"); this is part of load_xml. it works perfectly fine, even with the param bit in there. except, parse_xml dose not seem to be able to use that parameter. I have been able to get it to a point where parse_xml can alert(param) and give [object object] which I would of thought meant that the object litteral had been passed through, but when I try and call alert(param.xpos) I get undefined. I know this is a pig of a problem, and I could get around it by just having the function take a zillion boolean parameters, but its just not practical or elegant. I'm sure you will need to ask me plenty more questions before I can solve this. I will post more complete code, I just cut it down to what is actually going on. Thanks

  • Multiple Connection Types for one Designer Generated TableAdapter

    I have a Windows Forms application with a DataSet (.xsd) that is currently set to connect to a Sql Ce database. Compact Edition is being used so the users can use this application in the field without an internet connection, and then sync their data at day's end. I have been given a new project to create a supplemental web interface for displaying some of the same reports as the Windows Forms application so certain users can obtain reports without installing the Windows app. What I've done so far is create a new Web Project and added it to my current Solution. I have split both the reports (.rdlc) and DataSets out of the Windows Forms project into their own projects so they can be accessed by both the Windows and Web applications. So far, this is working fine. Here's my dilemma: As I said before, the DataSets are currently set up to connect to a local Sql Ce database file. This is correct for the Windows app, but for the Web application I would like to use these same TableAdapters and queries to connect to the Sql Server 2005 database. I have found that the designer generated, strongly-typed TableAdapter classes have a ConnectionModifier property that allows you to make the TableAdapter's Connection public. This exposes the Connection property and allows me to set it, however it is strongly-typed as a SqlCeConnection, whereas I would like to set it to a SqlConnection for my Web project. I'm assuming the DataSet Designer strongly-types the Connection, Command, and DataAdapter objects based on the Provider of the ConnectionString as indicated in the app.config file. Is there any way I can use some generic provider so that the DataSet Designer will use object types that can connect to both a Sql Ce database file AND the actual Sql Server 2005 database? I know that SqlCeConnection and SqlConnection both inherit from DbConnection, which implements IDbConnection. Relatively, the same goes for SqlCeCommand/SqlCommand:DbCommand:IDbCommand. It would be nice if I could just figure out a way for the designer to use the Interface types rather than the strong types, but I'm hesitant that that is possible. I hope my problem and question are clear. Any help is much appreciated. Let me know if there's anything I can clarify.

    Hi, In my NSApp delegate I add an observer of an object that is an NSWindow subclass that gets initiated in the delegate itself and that posts a notification once the window gets clicked. The selector is also in the delegate. From that same delegate class I initiate another object which when initiated adds itself as an observer for another window of the same NSWindow subclass of above and the selector is in this newly initiated class too. Both notifications get posted but the problem is that they get posted in both classes... Is this normal? I was hoping that it only got posted once.

  • Controlling azure worker roles concurrency in multiple instance

    I have a simple work role in azure that does some data processing on an SQL azure database. The worker basically adds data from a 3rd party datasource to my database every 2 minutes. When I have two instances of the role, this obviously doubles up unnecessarily. I would like to have 2 instances for redundancy and the 99.95 uptime, but do not want them both processing at the same time as they will just duplicate the same job. Is there a standard pattern for this that I am missing? I know I could set flags in the database, but am hoping there is another easier or better way to manage this. Thanks

  • Multiple Forms on the Same Page with Rails

    So I'm building a rails app for high school students and I've hit a problem when it comes to creating users. I want the students to only be able to create accounts if they select their school and type in their school's password correctly. What is the correct / easiest way of doing this? Should I create a gatekeeper to the user#new action that they have to pass first or if their a way that on the same page a student can submit to forms. One would be the regular username, email, password using: form_for @user do ... end But then creating another form for the high-school / high-school password selection. Ideally the controller would be able to get the params of the high-school form, validate those, then go on to create the user from the user params. Is this possible using rails? My setup: Rails 3 and Ruby 1.9.2dev Thank you!

    I have a dynamically generated form that allows users to enter new data and edit existing data. When the form is submitted, it collates the input values and groups them according to whether they are new or not, the former being denoted by class="new-entry". So the function generates two arrays: updateData and insertData. Both arrays are of similar formats: [ 0: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = foo }, 1: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = 'bar' }, etc... ] I am combining them into a new array object to send via ajax to the controller: var postData = { 'update_data': updateData, 'insert_data': insertData }; Then in the ajax call: $.post(url, postData, function() { // some code }); However, in the controller, doing print_r($this->input->post()) or print_r($_POST) as a test only returns Array(). Even $this->input->post('update_data') returns nothing. How can I retrieve these arrays in the controller?

  • Storing multiple inputs with the same name in a CodeIgniter session

    I've posted this in the CodeIgniter forum and exhausted the forum search engine as well, so apologies if cross-posting is frowned upon. Essentially, I've got a single input, set up as <input type="text" name="goal">. At a user's request, they may add another goal, which throws a duplicate to the DOM. What I need to do is grab these values in my CodeIgniter controller and store them in a session variable. My controller is currently constructed thusly: function goalsAdd(){ $meeting_title = $this->input->post('topic'); $meeting_hours = $this->input->post('hours'); $meeting_minutes = $this->input->post('minutes'); $meeting_goals = $this->input->post('goal'); $meeting_time = $meeting_hours . ":" . $meeting_minutes; $sessionData = array( 'totaltime' => $meeting_time, 'title' => $meeting_title, 'goals' => $meeting_goals ); $this->session->set_userdata($sessionData); $this->load->view('test', $sessionData); } Currently, obviously, my controller gets the value of each input, writing over previous values in its wake, leaving only a string of the final value. I need to store these, however, so I can print them on a subsequent page. What I imagine I'd love to do is extend the input class to be able to call $this-input-posts('goal'). Eventually I will need to store other arrays to session values. But I'm totally open to implementation suggestion. Thanks so much for any help you can give.

  • sql server 2005 reporting services-- how to use multiple datasets in report

    Hi everyone, I'm new to SQL Server reporting services, and am trying to decipher an existing report. It's nothing too bad, but I notice it does have two report datasets defined. (They are generated via separate stored procedures) I'm trying to figure out where and how the report datasets are linked together so the Fields collection has both sets of columns available and the report has a single rowset to traverse. Is there a section in the report layout where a joining of datasets is defined? I'm using Visual Studio 2005 to design and preview the report fwiw. Thanks for your help!
