• Disabling Firefox spell checking in iframe-based text editors

  There is a lot of info around about how to disable spell checking in html textarea element by using spellcheck='false'. However to have text area with more advanced capabilities, one must use iframe with designMode = "on" (see e.g. this page, this is a way that RichTextArea is implemented in GWT) and I couldn't find a single post on that topic. It turns out that Firefox detects such advanced text areas and enables its spell checking in them. You can see it live by visiting this page from Firefox and entering some content to text field. If you inspect this code, you'll see no textarea tag, yet FF spell checking is still active. The only way I managed to disable it was setting designMode to off but... I need it to be on. The question is: Is there any possibility to disable spell checking in such cases, without setting designMode = "off"?

• Which thread invokes SensorEventListener.onSensorChanged

  From my records it seems that SensorEventListener.onSensorChanged callback is called by the same thread that registered the callback. I.e there must be some message-queue synchronization going on in the background which allows the activitys UI-Thread to handle the callbacks. That leads to my question: Is there a need to synchronize SensorEventListener.onSensorChanged with the activitys UI-thread, assuming that the activitys UI-thread registered the SensorEventListener? I cannot find any documentation references, but can see various examples calling invalidate() unsychronized or synchronize the entire callback. I used something along the lines of Log.i(TAG, "" + Thread.currentThread().getId()); to retrieve threading information. I'm running android 2.1 update1. Best regards, Christoph

• DropdownList autoposback after client confirmation

  I have a dropdownlist with the autopostback set to true. I want the user to confirm if they really want to change the value, which on post back fires a server side event (selectedindexchanged). I have tried adding an onchange attribute "return confirm('Please click OK to change. Otherwise click CANCEL?';") but it will not postback regardless of the confirm result and the value in the list does not revert back if cancel selected. When I remove the onchange attribute from the DropdownList tag, the page does postback. It does not when the onchange attribute is added. Do I still need to wire the event handler (I'm on C# .Net 2.0 ). Any leads will be helpful. Thanks!

• Richfaces a4j achtionparam set null value

  I am trying to reset some values in a form using the a4j:actionParam tag. But it seams that null values never arrive in the target bean. The converter receives it correctly, returns null, but it is never set in the bean. The target is to fill in the start and endDate for different predefined values (last week, last month etc). • Difference between halo and mx namespace

  Hi there ! As far as I know, the support for library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo namespace has been dropped, and now we have to use library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx instead (reference). Can someone provide if there's any difference between the two namespaces? I am just starting to learn Flex and this change make me confused. For example, if I have an <mx:Tree> tag in my mxml document, the compiler complains that <mx:Tree> could not be resolved to a component implementation. But if I change my mx namespace to use the old one instead (halo), it successfully compiled without error. Thanks.   Intro: After reading Brad Wilson Metadata series and searching unsuccesfully on google, I was wondering: Question: Has any OS project / code been created that allows you to tag CSS styles in the Meta information, for example in my (buddy) Model, I want to be able to decorate a property with multiple CSS styles (a single style you can fake with UIHint, I want to set many possible styles - and be able to "cross-utilise") eg. public class MyModel { [DisplayCssHint("h5")] [DisplayCssHint("color:#777;")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Title{ get;set; } [DisplayCssHint(".normaltext")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Message {get;set;} } Thoughts: I know that this does not seem like a logical place to put styling information, however as it is metadata and is discriptive... besides it would be nice to do this while prototyping - (especially being able to apply class styles and extending it further - to generate .Less files would really be cool! more to the point I would hate to write it, if its already been done ;).   I have a while loop which creates a list of anchor tags each with a unique class name counting from 1 to however many items there are. I would like to change a css attriubute on a specific anchor tag and class when it is clicked so lets say the background color is changed. I have given the absolute path for each log file in param tag value. eg : appender name="FA" class="org.apache.log4j.DailyRollingFileAppender" param name="DatePattern" value="'_'yyyyMMdd"/ param name="File" value="D:/logFiles/GPreprocessor.log"/ layout class="com.dnb.genericpreprocessor.common.log.AppXMLLayout"/ /appender I do not want to give "GPreprocessor.log" directly.Actually that file name is dynamic based on my project. However the location will always remain same as "D:/logFiles/" . Please help me in this as this is very urgent and important for me.

• Find the xmlHttpRequest resource in aspx page

  I'm trying to find an xmlHttpRequest or similar resource that I can query directly to obtain an xml file for my own purposes. At this site it is possible to browse a Google Map mashup with markers. Unfortunately it is only possible to view all markers at a small view range, whereas I simply want to obtain all the information at once for the entire state. Using the firebug console in firefox I can enter the following javascript line to obtain the xml that I desire: document.getElementById("stationXML").value I tracked this document element down to an <input> tag, but I can't figure out how that input is set. • Executing <script> elements inserted with .innerHTML

  I've got a script that inserts some content into an element using innerHTML. The content could for example be: <script type="text/javascript">alert('test');</script> <strong>test</strong> Problem is that the code inside the <script> tag doesn't get executed. I googled it a bit but there were no apparent solutions. If I inserted the content using jQuery $(element).append(content);the script parts got eval'd before being injected into the DOM. Has anyone got a snippet of code that executes all the <script> elements? The jQuery code was a bit complex so I couldn't really figure out how it was done.

• ReturnUrl = Default.aspx for MVC?

  I'm trying to secure my entire MVC site, so before the Home controller, I added an [Authorize] attribute. Now if you run it from Visual Studio or navigate using the root URL (e.g. http://localhost:2897) it does redirect to the login page, as expected. However the URL in the address bar after redirection looks like this: http://localhost:2897/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx%3f I haven't tested this out, seeing as I have not implemented my authentication code. However, this looks like a big problem to me, since I do not have a default.aspx in my project! My authentication tag in the web.config looks like this: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" defaultUrl="~/Home/Index" timeout="2880"/> </authentication> Why doesn't it pick up this route as the default ReturnUrl instead of default.aspx?

  I'm using an ASP:LinkButton inside of an ItemTemplate inside of a TemplateField in a GridView. For the command argument for the link button I want to pass the ID of the row from the datasource that the gridview is bound to, so I'm doing something like this: <asp:LinkButton ID="viewLogButton" CommandName="viewLog" CommandArgument="<%#Eval("ID")%>" Text="View Log" runat="server"/> Unfortunately, the resulting HTML is this: <asp:LinkButton ID="viewLogButton" CommandName="viewLog" CommandArgument="3" Text="View Log" runat="server"/> It seems that it is parsing the Eval() properly, but this is somehow causing it not to parse the LinkButton tag and just dump it out as literal text. Does anyone know: a) why this is happening and, b) what a good solution to this problem is?

But when I embed the .swf file into a HTML page, the application's background color covers the whole screen, and when the Flash Player Settings message box pops up it is outside of the area I defined in the code above.   Hello, I'm trying to serialize a very large IEnumerable<MyObject> using an XmlSerializer without keeping all the objects in memory. The IEnumerable<MyObject> is actually lazy.. I'm looking for a streaming solution that will: Take an object from the IEnumerable<MyObject> Serialize it to the underlying stream using the standard serialization (I don't want to handcraft the XML here!) Discard the in memory data and move to the next I'm trying with this code: using (var writer = new StreamWriter(filePath)) { var xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(MyObject)); foreach (var myObject in myObjectsIEnumerable) { xmlSerializer.Serialize(writer, myObject); } } but I'm getting multiple XML headers and I cannot specify a root tag <MyObjects> so my XML is invalid. • CKEditor 3.2 is un-editable in jQuery simpleModal

  Hello all, I noticed that this isn't the first time that this issue comes up, but I still couldn't find the right and working solution for me. Here is the thing- In my ASP.NET aspx page I created a div element, with a <cc1:CKEditor> control tag within it. This div is hidden, and is attached to a jQuery SimpleModal plugin. The problem is- that when I trigger the modal-opening and the modal shows up with the editor within it, the editor is UNEDITABLE, locked. How can I fix it, and enable the editing in the CKEditor's textarea? Thanks in advance!

I have created my document, and made a web page with a meta refresh tag, along the lines of this: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;http://example.com/download.epl2" /> I specify that the document has a content-type of application/x-epl2, and I have associated .epl2 files on my computer with a program that silently sends them to the printer. I have put the website into my trusted sites zone. Currently Internet Explorer pops up the "Open, Save, Cancel" dialog box with no option to automatically open the file. Is there a setting in IE6/7/8 that I can use to have IE just open the file without prompting?

• Monitoring folders for changes

  I'm working on a project that will require an application that watches a list of directories the user specifies for changes. Also, I'd like to give the users the option of running the application as a service or on an individual basis. Since users can choose to run it on an individual basis I don't think listening for some operating system event triggered by the addition or deletion of files (if such events exist) would be sufficient. I thought about maybe calculating a checksum for the deepest folder and then building up. I could then compare these checksums on subsequent scans to try and pinpoint where the changes have occurred. Would that be an appropriate solution; if not what would be the best way of doing this in an efficient manner? Also, I'm not quite sure what to tag this as so if you have any recommendations let me know and I'll as them as I see fit. EDIT: I'll need this method to work on Windows, OS X, and ideally Linux

• Ampersand in link description text?

  I am validating my site using validator.w3.org and have an issue where there is a & in my link description text. ie this is taken from the source <a class='tag' href='/php/iphone software.php?function=developer&amp;dev=witch%26wizards+inc.&amp;store=143441'>witch&wizards inc.</a> Which gives me this error in the validator Line 188, Column 540: cannot generate system identifier for general entity "wizards" …6wizards+inc.&store=143441'witch&wizards inc. If I urlencode the description then the validation passes, but the user then sees the text displayed urlencoded, ie Developer witch%26wizards+inc. However I believe it's much more user friendly if this was displayed unencoded, ie Developer witch&wizards inc. Is there a way to pass validation but still have user friendly text displayed?
