• Weird exception with delayed_job

  Trying to queue a job with delayed_job as follows: Delayed::Job.enqueue(BackgroundProcess.new(current_user, object)) current_user and object are not nil when I print them out. The weird thing is that sometimes refreshing the page or running the command again works! • ASP.net Treeview/Listview combination or alternative: Tutorials? Help?

  I need to create an ASP.net page that has a control on the page that has a five-level TreeView on the left side of the page, and accounting balances on the right side the coincide with each breakdown in the tree. Top level is company, next is group, next is program, etc... and the balances break down accordingly. I've seen that there are controls out there such as TreeView/ListView combination controls that can do this. Is there any tutorials or help out there on how to go about accomplishing this without paying for controls? Could a treeview do this alone by spanning data across the entire length of the columns since every level will have totals on it?

• A null value should be considered as 0 when addition of it is done with decimal value.

  There are three column in the datatable A,B and C. Now each column is type of decimal. Now I am doing like dt.Columns["A"].Expression="B+C"; to make addition of Column B's record and column C's record. Now if there is any value of B or C is null then addition of B and C will be null like B's value is 3 and C's value is null for first row then B+C(3+null) will be null which is not appropriate, the result of addition should be 3.If I replace 0 instead of null then it will be ok.But whereever there is null value in the records it should be remain it is and it should not be replaced by 0.That is null value should not be replaced by 0 and when addition of null value is done with any decimal value null value should be considered as 0. Is it possible,how can we do this ?

  Hello Geeks, I am developing some tool for BI. There are terms like Fact, Dimensions and Measures. My application will connect to the normal database and read the data from that table. Now, I want to convert all this data into columnar database. That is all the columns from this table will be transfer into 3 tables each. Consider below table:- ID Product 1 XYZ 2 ABC 3 ABC Now, I want to convert the Product column i.e. dimension into 3 tables. dim_product_table:- ID Product 1 XYZ 2 ABC dim_product_fmk(fact map by key):- Where we will store key-value pair of Key Row 1 1 1 2 2 3 dim_product_fmr(fact map by row):- The above table will be reversed. Row Key 1 1 2 1 3 2 The another requirement is all above table should be generated dynamically and I should be able to JOIN all those. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

• HTML table with fixed cells size

  I have an HTML table which has equally divided rows and columns. I would like each cell to be of a fixed size, say 40px width and 30px height. When I change the size of the browser window, the cells size changes also. How can I prevent it ? I would expect to see the scroll bars if browser's window become too small. Is that right to set the height and the width of the cell in pixels ? Thanks !

Im a little confused on how to use split when the columns are delimited by a space and -. i Figure once i do that i can use min() and max function. • Python Parse CSV Correctly

  I am very new to Python. I want to parse a csv file such that it will recognize quoted values - For example 1997,Ford,E350,"Super, luxurious truck" should be split as ('1997', 'Ford', 'E350', 'Super, luxurious truck') and NOT ('1997', 'Ford', 'E350', '"Super', ' luxurious truck"') the above is what I get if I use something like str.split(). How do I do this? Also would it be best to store these values in an array or some other data structure? because after I get these values from the csv I want to be able to easily choose, lets say any two of the columns and store it as another array or some other data structure.   i have a table with the columns such id, tid, companyid, ttype etc.. the id may be same for many companyid but unique within the companyid and tid is always unique and i want to calculate the total no of transactions entered in the table, a single transaction may be inserted in more than one row, for example, id tid companyid ttype 1 1 1 xxx 1 2 1 may be null 2 3 1 yyy 2 4 1 may be null 2 5 1 may be null the above entries should be counted as only 2 transactions .. it may be repeated for many companyids.. so how do i calculate the total no of transactions entered in the table i tried select sum(count(*)) from transaction group by id,companyId; but doesn't work select count(*) from transaction group by id; wont work because the id may be repeated for different companyids.

  I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

• Multiple Foriegn Keys from One Table linking to single Primary Key in second Table

  Hi all, I have a database with three tables, a household table, an adults table and a users table. The Household table contains two foreign keys, iAdult1ID and iAdult2ID. The Users table has a iUserID primary key and the Adult table has a corresponding iUserID foreign key. One of the columns in the Users table is strUsername, an e-mail address. I am trying to write a query that will allow me to search for an e-mail address for either adult that has a relation to the household. So I have two questions, assuming that all the values are not null, how can I do this? And two, in reality, iAdult2ID can be null, is it still possible to write a query to do this?   I'm designing a product database where products can have very different attributes depending on their type, but attributes are fixed for each type and types are not manageable at all. E.g.: magazine: title, issue_number, pages, copies, close_date, release_date web_site: name, bandwidth, hits, date_from, date_to I want to use InnoDB and enforce database integrity as much as the engine allows. What's the recommended way to handle this? • Manipulate Excel workbooks programmatically

  I have an Excel workbook that I want to use as a template. It has several worksheets setup, one that produces the pretty graphs and summarizes the numbers. Sheet 1 needs to be populated with data that is generated by another program. The data comes in a tab delimited file. Currently the user imports the tab delimited file into a new Workbook, selects all and copies. Then goes to the template and pastes the data into sheet1. This is a large amount of data, 269 columns and over 135,000 rows. It’s a cumbersome process and the users are not experienced Excel users. All they really want is the pretty graphs. I would like to add a step after the program that generates the data to programmatically automate the process the user currently must do manually. Can anyone suggest the best method/programming language that could accomplish this?

• Updating MS - Access fields through MS-Excel cells

Consider that i have an excel workbook and an access table not necessarily having a similar structure (i.e. They may not have same number of columns) When i open the workbook the rows in the excel sheet get populated by the rows in access table (copied from the access table into the excel sheet's particular range of cells specified using macros). Then i modify certain cells in the excel sheet. I also have a button called "Save" in the excel sheet. When pressed, this will execute a macro. My question how can i update the access table to reflect the changes in the excel sheet when the save button is clicked...? Thanks for your time and suggestions...!

  Hi, I'm implementing global search box extension (sth like SearchableDictionary sample in android sdk). Everything works fine - suggestions are displayed properly. Problem is that I want browser to start when user picks a suggestion. (each suggestion is a link) Columns of my cursor contain SearchManager.SUGGEST_COLUMN_INTENT_DATA, and I use that to pass http link. My searchable xml contains default intent action set to: android:searchSuggestIntentAction="android.intent.action.VIEW". But when user hits the suggestion, my application is started instead of browser. What am I missing? Regards!

• Splitting a string with variable number of spaces VBA

  I have a file with a bunch of number in columns. These numbers are separated by variable number of spaces. I want to skip the first line and get all the other lines and separte each number on the line. Finally, I want to write each number on Excel. I've been able to get the lines and write them on Excel but I can't separate each number (I'm getting the whole line as one string). Does any body know how to split a string that has a variable number of spaces? Here is my code.   Trying to solve this at this hour has gotten my mind into a tail-spin: I want to rearrange a list l into a list of n lists, where n is the number of columns. e.g., l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] n = 5 ==> [[1,6][2,7][3,8][4][5]] another example: l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] n = 4 ==> [[1,5,9],[2,6,10],[3,7][4,8] Can someone please help me out with an algorithm? "Location" has the following columns and types: Location -------- City nvarchar(256) State nvarchar(256) PostalCode nvarchar(25) Latitude decimal(9, 6) Longitude decimal(9, 6) Each Location is related to a Store record in my database. I am trying to find the stores within a 10 mile radius or postal code or city/state that a user enters. To accomplish this, I know that I need to rely on geographies. At this time I have: DECLARE @startingPoint geography; SET @startingPoint=geography::STGeomFromText('POINT(-122.34900 47.65100)', 4326); That gives me the starting point from a hard-coded textual value. However, I do not know how to convert a lat/long from my Location table into a geography instance. How do I convert a lat/long in my database to a geography instance so I can continue to work on my query? Thank you!

  Consider the 0/1 knapsack problem. The standard Dynamic Programming algorithm applies only when the capacity as well as the weights to fill the knapsack with are integers/ rational numbers. What do you do when the capacity/weights are irrational? The issue is that we can't memoize like we do for integer weights because we may need potentially infinite decimal places for irrational weights - leading to an infinitely large number of columns for the Dynamic Programming Table . Is there any standard method for solving this? Any comments on the complexity of this problem? Any heuristics? What about associated recurrences like (for example): f(x)=1, for x< sqrt(2) f(x)=f(x-sqrt(2))+sqrt(3)
