• HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps. The problem is: I can see in the debug the right reading of the russian and the right reading of the english, but using myWord = myWord.Replace(ruChar, enChar), the string is not replaced. • Using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .Net4?

  I have a WPF application running with .Net3.5 using FluentNHibernate, and all works fine. When I upgraded to VS2010 I ran into some odd problems, but after changing to use x64 variant of SQLite it worked fine again. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When calling FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration I get an exception thrown: FluentConfigurationException unhandled An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail The inner exception gives us more information: Message = "Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4." It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This exact same code worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though..   Short version: How can I prevent a spawned Java process in Windows from blocking the spawning process from ending? Long version: I'm trying to spawn a multi-threaded Java program (Selenium RC, not that it should matter) from a program launched from the Windows command line (NAnt's <exec> task, again, not that it should matter). I'm doing it using the Windows "start" command, and the spawned process is started and runs correctly. The spawning process receives control back and finishes (NAnt says "BUILD SUCCEEDED"), but doesn't actually exit to the command line. When the spawned process finally terminates (could be hours later), the command process returns and the command line prompt occurs. • Mercurial over ssh client and server on Windows

  I'm trying to configure Mercurial for use with both a windows server (freeSSHd) and client (both command line and TortoiseHG). I'm using the most recent versions of everything... all downloaded in the past few days. Using public key auth, I have been able to get connected to the server and I'm able to use plink to execute "hg version" and get a response, but when I try to clone a repository from the ssh server the command appears to hang. Running with -v yields: hg -v clone ssh://<username>@<server>//hg/repositoryA testRepositoryA running "plink.exe -i "<path to private key file>" <username>@<server> "hg -R /hg/repositoryA serve --stdio"" with nothing more forthcoming. Running the hg serve command directly on the server yields an apparently responsive Mercurial server, but the clients do not seem to make any further requests. Running "hg serve" in the repository directory and cloning over http works perfectly. What should I be looking for to help debug this? Is there something the clients (hg and TortoiseHG) aren't sending to continue the request stream? Additional Information: If I change to an invalid repository on the target machine, the appropriate error is displayed, so it does appear that the remote hg is running and correctly evaluating the path. The problem I'm facing now is that the traffic is properly routed throught the fcgi file, but the file itself shows up as plain text in the browser. DBGP is installed successfully and configured with 127.0.0.1 but XDebugger is still not connecting/working with notepad++.

• SQL CLR not properly enabling

  We have a SQL server running SQL 2005 Workgroup 64 bit (9.0.4273), on Windows 2003 server 64 bit. We have run sp_configure and reconfigured the server which indicates that the clr is now enabled. exec sp_configure 'clr enabled', '1' go reconfigure go However, when trying to call CREATE ASSEMBLY the server completely dies on us and we have to do a full reboot of the machine. A little more diagnostic information, even though clr enabled is set to 1 and we have rebooted the full server, running the following statement select * from sys.dm_clr_properties returns directory version state locked CLR version with mscoree which is what it says when the CLR is not enabled on another machine. • Adobe Air Debugger not visible

  Have a little conundrum, when I debug my air app. It goes through the build process and seemingly launches. I can see the process in windows task manager, but can not see the actual application. Kind of strange I know. If anyone has had the same problem and can offer a shortcut to success, I'd much appreciate a pointer. Thanks

  Given the following information Public Enum Request As Byte None = 0 Identity = 1 License = 2 End Enum Protected mType As Communication.Request mType = Communication.Request.Identity Debug.Print (BitConverter.GetBytes(mType).Length.tostring) 2 Why does bitconverter report that mType is a length of 2. I would have thought that passing a Byte into BitConverter.GetBytes would just return the Byte. I mean it's no big deal because it's only sending a very small block of data across a TCP Socket, but I'm just intrigued why it thinks it's 2 bytes.

• Python: Pretty printing a xml file directly from a tar.gz package

  This is the first Python script I've tried to create. I'm reading a xml file from a tar.gz package and then I want to pretty print it. However I can't seem to turn it from a file-like object to a string. I've tried to do it a few different ways including str(), tostring(), etc but nothing is working for me. For testing I just tried to print the string at "print myfile[0:200]" and it always generates "<tarfile.ExFileObject object at 0x10053df10>" import os import sys import tarfile from xml.dom.minidom import parseString tar = tarfile.open("data/ucd.all.flat.tar.gz", "r") getfile = tar.extractfile("ucd.all.flat.xml") myfile = str(getfile) print myfile[0:200] output = parseString(getfile).toprettyxml() print output tar.close()

• IntelliJ IDEA "Tomcat manager" application

  Hello, I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 9.0.2 but I assume this question applies to previous versions as well. In the Run/Debug Configurations dialog there is an option called "Deploy 'Tomcat Manager' application", but I haven't been able to find any documentation for how to use it in the IntelliJ help or online. Has anyone had experience using this, and know what URL I could use to access it once Tomcat is running? Thanks!
