  • Automatically inserting new fields in a web.config file

    I have an ASP.NET project which has already some custom fields in it's web.config file. I've added in it three more fields and used them in my changes, and it's working great. But where it needs to be used, there aren't these thre fields in the web.config (this was expected, I've just added by hand for tests and developing). How do I check the existance of fields in web.config, and in case of not finding it, how do I add it permanently to the web.config ? Thank you

    At one point while traveling the web, I came across a great page which contrasted the clarity and terseness of different methods of doing a sequence of operations without having to make a bunch of throwaway variables, e.g., Var1, Var2, Var3. It tried list comprehensions, folds, maps, etc. For some reason, now matter what I google, I can't find it again. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Or want to explore the topic anyway?

    Hi! There is an email service ExactTarget with web service API. There are samples (in php though) for sending email to whole list instantly, or to single subscriber by triggered action. It's pretty hard to get in it's documentation, and I couldn't find explanation how to send email to a single subscriber instantly without having some triggering actions.     I have a page and few controls. I'm doing a normal postback. On InitializeCulture event of the page the Page.Request object contains e.g. controls with their values - and that's great. But on the other hand, when I'm trying to access this collection on the Page_Load or OnInit events, it's way smaller and doesn't have any of the controls that have been there before. Can anyone tell me what happens with Page.Request between these events?

  • 50 million+ Rows of Data - CSV or MySQL

    Hello, I have a CSV file which is about 1GB big and contains about 50million rows of data, I am wondering is it better to keep it as a CSV file or store it as some form of a database. I don't know a great deal about MySQL to argue for why I should use it or another database framework over just keeping it as a CSV file. I am basically doing a Breadth-First Search with this dataset, so once I get the initial "seed" set the 50million I use this as the first values in my queue. Thanks,

    I've looked around a bit for a great JavaScript Sprite Sheet animator lib/engine but couldn't find any good ones so I thought I'd ask around =). What I'm looking for in the engine is: Animate an image in a non-canvas setting (ex: div via css or img tags) Control frame rate/animation speed Flags to loop or to animate once etc. Are there any engines like this out there? If not I can always make my own but then again, I don't want to re-invent the wheel =].

    In iPhone I need to set the background view of a UITableview. From 3.2 SDK I can in code use something like: [self.tableView setBackgroundView:[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"mycustombackground.png"]]]; But how can I do the same in interface builder? It would be great if I could just set the background view directly in interface builder. But can't seem to find this property, where is it? Thanks!

    I used to have a great firefox addon for this and i can't remember the name of it.. when you looked at the source it would sit at the bottom (like firebug) and check your html markup and suggest things like "doctype given is html4.0, looks like xhtml strict" etc i though it was the web developer toolbar but that doesnt seem to add anything to the bottom of ym source pane?

The query below works great, but performing a joined subselect seems impossible in HQL is it not?!     Python's SimpleHTTPServer is a great way of serve the contents of the current directory from the command line: python -m SimpleHTTPServer However, as far as web servers go, it's very slooooow... It behaves as though it's single threaded, and occasionally causes timeout errors when loading JavaScript AMD modules using RequireJS. It can take five to ten seconds to load a simple page with no images. What's a faster alternative that is just as convenient?

    The default Notes app on the iPad is fine for my note taking needs. I see how it syncs through iTunes to Mail, but if one doesn't use Mail for e-mail management, is there any other way to sync and view the iPad notes on the desktop? (We use Eudora for mail management, and Apple's Mail is not great if all you want to do is view your notes with it.)
