• Maven build fails on an Ant FTP task failure

• Loader.php trying to load Doctrine classes, but we use Propel!

  We are finding cases where we get the following 500 error: File xyz.php does not exist or class "xyz" was not found in the file at () in SF_ROOT_DIR/lib/vendor/Zend/Loader.php line 107 ... where xyz == Memcache (when trying to use symfony cc on the command line) or sfDoctrineAdminGenerator (when using an old-ish AdminGenerator-generated CMS page). We use Propel, but Loader.php is trying to load classes used only for Doctrine. Currently I am using a filthy hack where I request Loader.php to check if the file is either of these two cases, and if so simply return rather than trying to load it. Obviously, this is unacceptable longer term. Has anybody encountered this, and how did you solve it? Edited to add: We have: class ProjectConfiguration extends sfProjectConfiguration { public function setup() { // for compatibility / remove and enable only the plugins you want $this->enableAllPluginsExcept(array('sfDoctrinePlugin')); } } And we have a propel.ini file in our top level config directory. This has only started in the past four weeks or so, and we've had a stable build for over a year now. I'm pretty sure Doctrine is totally disabled.

• Simple jQuery code contains a syntax error that I can't find

  I've got this (remarkably) simple JavaScript function that is called when a user clicks a "Cancel" link: function hideNewUserPanel(){ $('#create_user_panel').slideUp('slow'); $('.right_interior_panel').slideDown('slow'); } And the code to add the handler: $(function(){ $('#cancel_create_user_btn').live('click', function(){ hideNewUserPanel(); } }); Functionally, everything works as expected. Trouble is, when I click the "Cancel" link, Firebug shows an error in the console: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: # I've stepped through the code several times and the error appears at some point before the call to hideNewUserPanel(). At the risk of sounding like one of "those programmers" (the kind that claim to have found a bug in GCC and assume their own code is perfect), the exception is being thrown from somewhere within jQuery proper, so I assume the issue is in there. I'm using jQuery 1.3.2 (this is a legacy project using many jQuery plugins that will break if we update to 1.4.x). Is there anything obviously wrong with my code that I'm simply not seeing? This code is, frankly, very simple and I don't really see what the issue could be. Thanks!

• Javascript ended event when video playback ends on android

  I have been trying to create a web page that will redirect the user after he has watched a video (or if he aborted the playback). I've got this working on the iphone but can't really figure out how it works on the android. On the Iphone i have found two ways of doing this. using the tag to embed the quicktime plugin and then adding a event listener with javascript to listen to the 'qt_ended' event. This does obviously not work on android because there is no quicktime plugin. The second thing i tried was using the html5 -tag and listening to the 'ended' event, again this worked on the iphone but to my surprise not on android. In this case i got the video playing on the android phone but no redirect occurred after the video had reached the end. So my guess is that the android browser does not fully support the video-tag and that it does not fire the event. So at this time i don't really know how to proceed. I'm guessing i could do something similar to the quicktime embed solution but using a plugin available on android. But i cant find any information on what plugins is available on the android and if they support some kind of 'ended'-event.

• How do I populate a MEF plugin with data that is not hard coded into the assembly?

  I am working on a program that will communicate with various pieces of hardware. Because of the varied nature of the items it communicates and controls, I need to have a different "driver" for each different piece of hardware. This made me think that MEF would be a great way to make those drivers as plugins that can be added even after the product has been released. I've looked at a lot of examples of how to use MEF, but the question that I haven't been able to find an answer to is how to populate a MEF plugin with external data (eg. from a database). All the examples I can find have the "data" hard-coded into the assembly, like the following example: [Export( typeof( IRule ) )] public class RuleInstance : IRule { public void DoIt() {} public string Name { get { return "Rule Instance 3"; } } public string Version { get { return "1.1.0.0"; } } public string Description { get { return "Some Rule Instance"; } } } What if I want Name, Version and Description to come from a database? • wordpress extended_valid_elements for script tag?

  Can someone tell me how to tell Wordpress' tinymce editor to NOT strip out script tags? I looked in wp-admin/includes/post.php and added 'extended_valid_elements'=>'script[charset|defer|language|src|type]', to the $initArray. • Designing a silverlight dashboard with mef - is it possible? (with dynamic loading of xaps)

  Hello! I am just trying to wrap my head around MEF. And as I am really going to love it ( I guess ) I started my first sample project and immediatly stumbled into a big problem and now I am asking myself if I can use MEF for my scenario at all and that is the following: Imagine that one got some kind of dashboard with, let's say, five regions and above each region there are two comboboxes. The values in the first combobox represent different possible views (for example, chartControl, tableControl, pictureControl, ...) and the values of the second combobox represents the different data sources for the currently selected control. As the controls are very big in size one wants to download them as needed. If the user selects one comboboxitem the corresponding control xap should be loaded and displayed in this specific region. If the user selectes another control in the same combobox the control should be removed from the visualtree and the next control should be downloaded and displayed. If the user changes the selection in a different combobox the corresponding control should be loaded again only in this specific region, with perhaps different data. And to make it a little more interesting - as this is some kind of dashboard one can change the layout from five regions to - for example - ten regions. I've seen the video "MVVM with MEF in Silverlight Video Tutorial Part 2: Plugins and Metadata" ( http://csharperimage.jeremylikness.com/2010/03/mvvm-with-mef-in-silverlight-video_09.html ) but he is using an ItemsControl and is working with Visibility and he only got ONE region. • High memory usage for dummies

  I've just restarted my firefox web browser again because it started stuttering and slowing down. This happens every other day due to (my understanding) of excessive memory usage. I've noticed it takes 40M when it starts and then, by the time I notice slow down, it goes to 1G and my machine has nothing more to offer unless I close other applications. I'm trying to understand the technical reasons behind why its such a difficult problem to sol ve. Mozilla have a page about high memory usage: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/High+memory+usage But I'm looking for a slightly more in depth and satisfying explanation. Not super technical but enough to give the issue more respect and please the crowd here. Some questions I'm already pondering (they could be silly so take it easy): When I close all tabs, why doesn't the memory usage go all the way down? Why is there no limits on extensions/themes/plugins memory usage? Why does the memory usage increase if it's left open for long periods of time? Why are memory leaks so difficult to find and fix? App and language agnostic answers also much appreciated.

• PhoneGap/Cordova. childBrowser plugin giving starnge URL (iOS)

  I am having a great deal of difficulty getting the childBrowser plugin to work Currently when I click my link it does nothing on my iOS simulator and when I click it using a browser I get a Web Page Not Found error with the web address looking something like: file://myapp/www/%C3%A2%E2%82%AC%C2%9D#??????? I am really stuck for ideas on whats going on and what is causing this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.   Hey there again! Today I ran into a problem when I was making a new theme creator for chrome. As you may know, Chrome uses a "new" file format, called CRX, to manage it's plugins and themes. It is a basic zip file, but a bit modified: "Cr24" + derkey + signature + zipFile And here comes the problem. There are only two CRX creators, written in Ruby or Python. I don't know neither language too much (had some basic experience in Python though, but mostly with PyS60), so I would like to ask you to help me convert this python app to a C# class. • jQuery AJAX request (Rails 3) gets redirected and returns empty message body!

  I'm trying to do a manual jQuery AJAX request the following way: $("#user_plan_id").change(function() { $("#plan_container").load('/plans/' + this.value); }); I have the "rails.js" file included in my header, and a "<%= csrf_meta_tag %". I see from my log that the request IS getting to the server (although without the authenticity token... does rails.js even do this?), but the response is a 302 (Found) rather than 200, and no data actually gets rendered. Any ideas? Edit: I now see that the first request redirects, and the proper partial gets rendered on the redirect. However, the 2nd response's body (on the client-side) is still empty. I'm guessing jQuery uses the first response and doesn't have a listener set up for the redirect. How do I get around this? Also, another note: the page doing the requesting is an HTTPS page. • grailsui plugin for accordion not working

  Hi! I have been trying to figure out what's wrong with grailsui accordion. I have checked out the sample source files (http://guidemo.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/) from different ui tags, like menu, datatable and etc. they are working fine but the accordion is not working properly. All i can see is all of the divs shown. the panels are not moving since they are already shown. I've also followed the screencast for it. I've used the yui-skin-sam class name and I've downloaded the grails plugins.grails-ui=1.2-SNAPSHOT. I am not sure what's wrong.I used the rich-ui plugin and it is working great. But there are still features that are not in rich-ui compared to the possible configurations for the grails-ui tags. Anyway. if you have any suggestions to what js library I may use for a grails application or if you have a working grails-ui accordion sample, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. • Select all points in a matrix within 30m of another point

  So if you look at my other posts, it's no surprise I'm building a robot that can collect data in a forest, and stick it on a map. We have algorithms that can detect tree centers and trunk diameters and can stick them on a cartesian XY plane. We're planning to use certain 'key' trees as natural landmarks for localizing the robot, using triangulation and trilateration among other methods, but programming this and keeping data straight and efficient is getting difficult using just Matlab. Is there a technique for sub-setting an array or matrix of points? Say I have 1000 trees stored over 1km (1000m), is there a way to say, select only points within 30m radius of my current location and work only with those? I would just use a GIS, but I'm doing this in Matlab and I'm unaware of any GIS plugins for Matlab. I forgot to mention, this code is going online, meaning it's going on a robot for real-time execution. I don't know if, as the map grows to several miles, using a different data structure will help or if calculating every distance to a random point is what a spatial database is going to do anyway. I'm thinking of mirroring two arrays, one sorted by X and the other by Y. Then bubble sorting to determine the 30m range in that. I do the same for both arrays, X and Y, and then have a third cross link table that will select the individual values. But I don't know, what that's called, how to program that and I'm sure someone already has so I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Cartesian Plane GIS

• Multi-module maven build : different result from parent and from module

Typically if I build PImport only, the generated war is similar to what I had with my ant build and if I build from the parent pom, my war took 20MB, a lot of dependencies from other modules had been added. Both wars are running well. My project PWebService has unit tests to be executed during the build. It is using mock-ejb which has cglib as dependency. Having a problem of ClassNotFound with this one, I had to exclude it and add a dependency to cglib-nodep (see last pom extract). If I then build only this module, it is working well. But if I build from the parent project, it fails because other dependencies in other modules also had an implicit dependency on cglib. I had to exclude it in every modules pom and add the dependency to cglib-nodep everywhere to make it run. Do I miss something important in my configuration ? • Building a TriggerField with PopUp Window

  Hi! I built a triggerField and when i press at it, i want to have a popup, that is appended to the button in the triggerfield(so when i click anywhere else it shall disappear and it shall pop out up to the button when i click at the button just like a datepicker-popup) I somehow managed to do something like that with an Ext.window but the offset and postion doesnt match. • jQuery event "looping"

  Hi I´m trying to code a tooltip (Yes I know, I have my reasons to avoid plugins in this case) in jQuery. Whe I show the tooltip and leave the mouse in the same place the show and hide repeats forever. It´s like the element triggers the hover event again and again and again. • jQuery Dialog - Remote Page Javascript not running in FF / Chrome

  Hey SO, I've created a page intended only to be opened via modal. This page contains a calendar of the User's favorite events...etc. I'm using the jQuery Dialog and FullCalendar plugins to do this. In IE, there is not issue...everything works fine. However, the Javascript on the remote page (Calendar.aspx) is never getting executed in FF or Chrome. Here's my code. • JQuery - Fade in new Background Image?

  Hi, I think I may be trying something that isn't possible. I was recently tasked to create a html version of the flash site. On the flash site when you click on the body the image changes. I have done this with JQuery. Its brilliant! However.. it isn't "flash" enough. The powers that be want a fade effect between images. This is where I have come completely undone. This is how my script works at the moment. Images are stored in a div called photos. This is hidden. <div id="photos"> <img src="image.jpg" alt="Some caption" style="#page-bg-color" /> </div> When the page is loaded jquery checks to see if the first image is loaded. If it isn't then a loading symbol spins. When the image is loaded, it becomes the body background. $("body").css('background', 'url(' + photos[currentImage]["url"] + ') no-repeat 50% 50% fixed ' + photos[currentImage]["background"]); I have tried the following. I have tried animate. However, this doesn't work. I have tried this plugin: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/bgImageTransition This doesn't work either. It appears to clone the tag and do something. I assume it isn't working because you cannot clone the body tag. That or it is really old and is no longer compatible with the current version of JQuery. I fear that I have coded my way down a dead end. Does anybody know how I could make this work?

  Ok let me make an example: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#options_2").hide(); $("#options_3").hide(); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="options_1">option 1</div> <div id="options_2">option 2</div> <div id="options_3">option 3</div> <a href="" class="selected">choose option 1</a> <a href="">choose option 2</a> <a href="">choose option 3</a> </body> As you can see only option 1 is visible by default, and the link you click to show option 1 has the class="selected" by default, showing the user that that option is currently selected. I basically want it so that when they click "choose option 2" the options 1 div hides itself and the options 2 div shows itself, and then gives the second link the selected class and removes the class from the image link. It basically just tabs using links and divs but due to the format I have to display it in I cannot use any of the tabs plugins I have found online.

• What's the most efficient way to setup a multi-lingual website

  Hi, I'm developing a website that will be available in different languages. It is a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup, and it makes use of Smarty, mostly for the template engine. The way we currently translate is by a self-written smarty plugin, which will recognize certain tags in the HTML files, and will find the corresponding tag in an earlier defined language file. The HTML could look as follows: <p>Hi, welcome to $#gamedesc;!</p> And the language file could look like this: gamedesc:Poing 2009$; welcome:this is another tag$; Which would then output <p>Hi, welcome to Poing 2009!</p> This system is very basic, but it is pretty hard to control, if I f.e. would like to keep track of what has been translated so far, or give certain users the rights to translate only certain tags. I've been looking at some alternative ways to approach this, by either replacing the text-file with XML files which could store some extra meta-data, or by perhaps storing all the texts in the database, and retrieving it there. My question is, what would be the best way to make this system both maintainable and perform well with high user-traffic? Are there perhaps any (lightweight) plugins I could take a look at?

• mvn deploy to AWS (ssh via distributionManagement)

  I am working on deploying the WAR file to AWS using Maven. I am planning to use 'mvn deploy' for the same which would ssh the war file to AWS. I am following http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-deploy-plugin/examples/deploy-ssh-external.html. This is my POM file <project> ... <distributionManagement> <repository> <id>ssh-aws</id> <url>scpexe://<ec2 instance>.compute-1.amazonaws.com</url> </repository> </distributionManagement> <build> <extensions> <!-- Enabling the use of FTP --> <extension> <groupId>org.apache.maven.wagon</groupId> <artifactId>wagon-ssh-external</artifactId> <version>1.0-beta-6</version> </extension> </extensions> </build> .. </project> This is my settings.xml <server> <id>ssh-aws</id> <username>aws-user</username> </server> The only issue is that I am unable to figure out the url in distributionManagement node of pom.xml. I am able to ssh in the AWS server by the following. ssh -i ~/pemfile/pemfile-key.pem aws-user@<ec2 instance>.compute-1.amazonaws.com But when I run mvn clean deploy, I receive this.. Exit code: 1 - Permission denied (publickey). -> [Help 1] Thanks in advance.

• IDE framework for a dynamic language?

  Let's say I have a super-wonderful new programming language, and I want there to be an IDE for it. What IDE platform/framework could I use to get this done efficiently? I mean things like: Collection of files in a project, searching them, tabbed/split editors etc. — the basics. Syntax highlighting and auto-indent/reformatting. Providing the user interface for code completion — hit tab, get a list (I'll have to implement the necessary partial evaluation myself (it's a dynamic language)). This is the feature I'm most wishing for. Built-in parser framework which is good at recovering from the sort of syntax errors occurring in code that is in the middle of being edited would be helpful. In-editor annotation of syntax/runtime error locations fed back from the language runtime. REPL (interactive evaluator) interaction with the same completion as in the editor. This system should be Linux/Mac/Windows cross-platform (in that priority order). Being implemented in Java (or rather, accepting language plugins written in Java) is possibly useful, but anything else is worth a try too.

• How can I create Wikipedia's footnote highlighting solely with jQuery

  I would like to duplicate Wikipedia's footnote highlighting from in-text citation click solely in jQuery and CSS classes. I found a webpage that describes how to do so with CSS3 and then a JavaScript solution for IE. I would like however to do so solely with jQuery as the site I'm doing it on already has a bunch of jQuery elements. I've come up with a list of the process. In-Text Citation Clicked Replace highlight class with standard footnote class on <p> tag of footnotes that are already highlighted. Add highlight to the appropriate footnote Use jQuery to scroll down the page to appropriate footnote. I've come up with some jQuery so far but I'm extremely new to it relying heavy on tutorials and plugins to this point. Here is what I have with some plain English for the parts I haven't figured out yet. $('.inlineCite').click(function() { $('.footnoteHighlight').removeClass('footnoteHighlight').addClass('footnote'); //add highlight to id of highlightScroll //scroll to footnote with matching id }); If I had a method to pass a part of the selector into the function and turn it into a variable I believe I could pull it off.
