• c++ simple start a function with its own thread

  i had once had a very simple one or two line code that would start a function with its own thread and continue running until application closed, c++ console app. lost the project it was in, and remember it was hard to find. cant find it online now. most example account for complicated multithreading situations. but i just need to open this one function in its own thread. hopefully someone knows what im talking about, or a similar solution. eg. start void abc in its own thread, no parameters

What im trying to do is redirect bunch of urls containing a specific string like this: http://www.example.com/**undesired-string**_another-string to http://www.example.com/**new-string**_another-string and http://www.example.com/folder/**undesired-string**/another-string to http://www.example.com/folder/**new-string**/another-string So i have this code in the .htaccess: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule (.+)+(undesired-string)+(.+) $1new-string$2 [R=301,L] </IfModule> This should replace ANY undesired-string in any url to new-string, but it is not working, any idea why ? • Having onFocus do several things.

  So I have this input tag <input ... onFocus=...> and what I want is for a warning popup to come up if somebody clicks to write in the input field. After the person has read the warning he/she closes the popup and can continue to write in the field. I have managed to implement the popup just fine but my problem is that I lose focus on the input field when the popup comes up so the next time I click the field the popup comes back again and im back on square one. The system I work on uses php and javascript so and I cannot use anything other than that to solve the problem and my experience with both php and javascript is limited.

  Hello there, Im having trouble with some Java, How do I give in default parameter values in java?. for example I have this in c++ DVD(int i, string t, int y, string d="Unknown"): Items(i,t,y),director(d){} and in Java I tried public Dvd(int i, String t,int y, String d="Unknown"){ super(i,t,y); director = d; } which fails to build. So how do I go about giving in default values? also In my main testing class I tried giving in 3 arguments insead of 4 but this fails also. How do I get around this problem?.

• 3 div independently relative and top aligned

  I have 3 div top aligned that should be relative to a previous div (not between them so i can't use floats or position:inline-block either). If you set display:none on 2 divs the last one shouldn't move. I can't use position:absolute because there's a relative footer underneath. I tried using a wrapper but it can't work cause the height of the divs is not fixed. The height of the wrapper gets completely ignored anyway (by the following footer) unless Im using relative children. vertical-align:top doesn't work either. Any ideas?

  I know this question was here a lot of times and can't be answered at all, but im not looking for a single name, but rather for an advice in my situation. I learned programming with Java and now I'm developing in Java for more or less 5 years (at the university) and I thinks my programming skills their are really ok/average. I have also small experience in C/C++ and C#. Now I have some spare time and I'd like to learn a new language or deepen the knowledge of Java/C/C++. But how to choose the right language to learn? I'd like to learn a language which will be usefull in the future concerning working in a software development business? I know there is no single answer, but I'm sure you could mention some languages that are more usefull than others.

• Can a shell loop do this?

  Ive seen loops to unzip all zip files in a directory, however, before I run this, I would rather make sure what Im about to run will work right: for i in dir; do cd $i; unzip '*.zip'; rm -rf *.zip; cd ..; done Basically I want it to look at the output of "dir" see all the folders, for each directory cd into it, unzip all the zip archives, then remove them, then cd back and do it again until theres no more. Is this something I should do in a single command or should I consider doing this in perl?

  Im not even sure how to word this and is probably why I am having trouble finding an answer in google. When the code is run currentCardRow will equal 1 therefore it should be cardSelected1 which is what is shown in the console.log. I need it to go a step further because cardSelected1 is a variable and I need it to evaluate show in the console log as Invitation. Invitation is an example of a variable for cardSelected1. I am not sure on what the correct syntax is to make this happen. var currentCardSelected = "cardSelected" + currentCardRow; Thanks for your help!

• Wordpress meta data is written on top of page instead of the loop

  i'm building a wordpress webpage based on the Skeleton Wordpress theme. I have 2 posts showing on a page and each of these posts have custom fields values (meta data). Im using the shortcode from the skeleton theme to get a post-feed from a specific category and in that loop i have inserted this tag that displays the custom fields data <?php the_meta(); ?> I am getting the data - but the problem is, the data is shown on TOP of the page instead of inside the in the post. What could've ive possibly done wrong? or is it something with skeleton i am doing wrong?   Ok, so im trying to work out the fastest way of storing data on my page without slowing the page load: I need to store information in the page to be later used by jquery. My page is an events page and i want to attach data to each event anchor. there are 100+ events to attach data to. The events anchors are created with a php loop, so i could create the data elements within this loop using either use un-semantic tags ie *rel="some_data"* create a jquery.data() for each iteration of the loop or i could run the loop again, separately, this time inside script tags with jquery.data(); would really appreciate any thoughts on this!

  Hi, im now using namespaces in PHP 5.3 now there is a fallback mechanism for functions which dont exist in the namespace. so php every time checks if the function exists in namespace and then tries to load it from global space. So what about all php internal functions? strstr for example? Should i now use every php internal function with a \ ? to avoid php first checking the namespace? is this fallback a huge performance drop? what do you think?

• One code on dev server, and production server - how to deal with links?

  I have a copy of a code running ont he prod server, and I sue my local machine(s) running xampp as a dev server. I have several websites that I actively develop, so Im forced to use http://localhost/sitename All my URLs are relative to the domain, (/file.php). They work fine on the prod server, but on a local server, they all point to localhost, when I want to make them all work relative to the site folder they are in. Is there anything I could do, other than what I do now, which is this: if($_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] == "localhost") { $path_to = "http://" . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] .   Hello, I have list of DateTime values, and for each value I need to fetch something from the database. I would like to do this with one query. I know it's possible to pass a table (list) to the stored procedure, but Im not sure how to write the query itself. Let's say I have the following table: CREATE TABLE Shows( ShowId [int] NOT NULL, StartTime DateTime NOT NULL, EndTime DateTime NOT NULL ) and an array of dates DECLARE @myDateArray MyCustomDateArrayType Now, if I were fetching a single item, I would write a query like this: SELECT * FROM Shows WHERE StartTime > @ArrayItem and @ArrayItem < EndTime where @ArrayItem is an item from @myDateArray .   Hi, Im not much of a php coder, mainly use VB. But i had a problem with one of my apps. To make it more secure i would need each php parameter to go through one site. Here is an example of what i mean: Application loads sends ip and location to 2 servers (a.php & b.php) the problem so far is that the pc is making direct connections to these pages. What i was trying to do is make it so that it only sends one command to z.php and the page z.php would send the data to a.php and b.php. My question is how would i set up z.php? I hope i make sense, i have looked everywhere and couldnt find an answer.

  heres my problem: im building a server that loads modules. each module is a .jar file. inside the jar theres all the classes that the module need. the server needs to read the jar, find the main class (it doesnt have the main method on it is just the class that makes the module work but not as a different program), build an object of that class and store it in a vector of modules so that it can acces to a specific module depending on the job to be done. how can i do that? as far as the server, it is listening and reciving request, but thes no modules to delegate the job to, since my vector of modules is empty

I have a .NET application and I want to add a "Send log to the developer" feature (attaching the log) using SmtpClient. The fact is I've read like 30+ pages, and found out, i.e. gmail's smtp client doesn't allow anonymous connections, and many other things.
