  I am looking for the Java equivalent of gprof. I did a little Java profiling using System.getCurrentMillis(), and saw several GUI tools which seem too much. A good compromise could be a text-based Java profiler, preferably free or low-cost, which works in either Windows XP or Linux.

  Hi, I'm pretty useless when it comes to math and I have a problem I need help with. This has nothing to do with schoolwork, it's in fact about alcatel and the ticketextractor. I have two values that needs to be calculated in a c# application according to a formula specified in their documentation: "The global callid is equal to: callid1 multiplied by 2 power 32 plus callid2" As I said I'm not big with maths so that statement says nothing to me. If anyone know how to calculate it i'd appreciate it! Thanks

• Fixing Floating Point Error

  I have some code that gets the leading value (non-zero) of a Double using normal math instead of String Math... For Example: 0.020 would return 2 3.12 would return 3 1000 should return 1 The code I have at the moment is: LeadingValue := Trunc(ResultValue * Power(10, -(Floor(Log10(ResultValue))))) However when ResultValue is 1000 then LeadingValue ends up as 0. What can I do to fix this problem I'm assuming is being caused by floating point errors? Thanks.

It seems terribly inefficient to poll for changes, especially when the number of projects increases and the polling period is set to a very low value (for example, 30 seconds).

• Trouble reinstalling Gem after failure

  Yesterday I tried to install Jeweler via Rubygems, however somewhere in the middle of the process I had a power failure, resulting in my computer turning off in the middle of the installation process.   Hi all, I'm studying how to use caching in Heroku for my Rails app. HTTP cache powered by Varnish is superb and I'll use it in all pages without user info but I also want to use a kind of ActiveRecord caching with Memcached using "high livel" plugins such as cache_fu or cache-money...but it seems that Heroku supports only the memcached gem (http://docs.heroku.com/memcache) and it's a very low level Memcachad API...
