• Interpolation of time series data in R

  I'm not sure what i'm missing here, but i'm basically trying to compute interpolated values for a time series; when I directly plot the series, constraining the interpolation points with "interpolation.date.vector", the plot is correct: plot(date.vector,fact.vector,ylab='Quantity') lines(spline(date.vector,fact.vector,xout=interpolation.date.vector)) When I compute the interpolation, store it in an intermediate variable, and then plot the results; I get a radically incorrect result: intepolated.values <- spline(date.vector,fact.vector,xout=interpolation.date.vector) plot(intepolated.values$x,intepolated.values$y) lines(testinterp$x,testinterp$y) Doesn't the lines() function have to execute the spline() function to retrieve the interpolated points in the same way i'm doing it?

• C# Lambda Expression Speed

  I have not used many lambda expressions before and I ran into a case where I thought I could make slick use of one. I have a custom list of ~19,000 records and I need to find out if a record exists or not in the list so instead of writing a bunch of loops or using linq to go through the list I decided to try this: for (int i = MinX; i <= MaxX; ++i) { tempY = MinY; while (tempY <= MaxY) { bool exists = myList.Exists(item => item.XCoord == i && item.YCoord == tempY); ++tempY; } } Only problem is it take ~9 - 11 seconds to execute. Am I doing something wrong is this just a case of where I shouldn't be using an expression like this? Thanks.

• SqlCommand() ExecuteNonQuery() truncates command text.

  I'm building a custom db deployment utility, I need to read text files containing sql scripts and execute them against the database. Pretty easy stuff, so far so good. However I've encountered a snag, the contents of the file are read successfully and entirely, but once passed into the SqlCommand and then executed with SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery only part of the script is executed. • C# MySQL Lost Connection

  Hi. I have C# application and I'm using MySQL database. Everything seems to be fine except one thing. Our computer network is little bit unstable. When I'm trying to execute query and the computer simultaneously loses connection to the mysql server (I'm simulating this situation by unplugging the network cable from computer which is mysql server), the program is trying to do something for long time (tens seconds). I would like to specify something like timeout which ends the query by exception or something similar. I tried to add timeout parameters to connection string but with no effect (I've used ConnectionTimeout and DefaultCommandTimeout). Is there any other way to identify lost connection after few seconds? Thank you Adam P.S. Sorry for my english, I'm not native speaker.

  I know that this has been asked and answered before, but for the life of me I cannot find where I am going wrong. My code is below. $backa = array("1", "7", "8", "9", "12"); $backaa = implode(",", $backa); /* code to create connection object $wkHook */ $getOpt=$wkHook->prepare("select movementId, movementName from Movement where movementId IN ($backaa) order by movementName asc"); $getOpt->execute(); $getOpt->store_result($id, $name); Every time I run this I get one of two errors depending upon how I use the $backaa variable. More often than not I get a call to a non-object error indicating that $getOpt is not a proper Mysql query. I have tried every fashion of quoting, bracketing, etc for the $backaa variable but it's just not working for me. What obvious thing am I missing?

• Have VB.Net 2010 ErrorProvider Fire on Tabbing Out of BindingSource TextBox on a WinForm

  I have a TextBox control on a Windows Form that uses a DataSource custom object as its BindingSource. I have associated an ErrorProvider with the BindingSource like so: Dim dobExample As New DOExample ExampleBS.DataSource = dobExample epExample.DataSource = ExampleBS The ErrorProvider fires if I type a blank space in the TextBox and then press Tab to move to the next control, which is correct. But it doesn't fire if I just press Tab without entering anything. I want the ErrorProvider to show the Error, even if the TextBox is empty and not just validate when there is text in the TextBox. How do I accomplish this? As an additional bit of info, when I execute the following statement: epDOContact.GetError(TextBox) an empty string is returned even though the TextBox is empty when it is required to be present.

Joh.* 2. .*An.* 3. .*st.* But, the above retrieves the entire string instead of the values I want. How can I get the correct values?   We're letting users search a database from a single text input and I'm having difficulties in filtering some user supplied strings. For example, if the user submits: ????????? lcd SONY (Note the ?'s) I need to cancel the search. I include the base64 encoded version of the above string wrapped up so that its easy run: print(base64_decode("1MfLxc/RwdPHIGxjZCBTT05Z")); I've ignored such inputs before but now (am not sure why) just realised the mysql database query is taking nearly forever to execute so this is now on high priority. Another example to highlight that we are using utf-8 and mb_detect_encoding is not helping much: print(base64_decode("zqDOm8+Fzr3PhM63z4HOuc6/IM+Bzr/Phc+HzyU=")); ????t???? ?????% So: how can I detect/filter these inputs? how is this input being generated?

For example, let's say I have the output of an awk statement with the following contents red green blue In this scenario, the output can change at any time. I'm trying to then execute different logic if a value is included in this awk output. • set label value in vb.net

  Hi-- I'm usually a PHP guy but got stuck doing a project in vb.net. I have a query (sqldatasource) that returns a single value (the last update date). I want to use a label to say something like "Last updated: " < Label = (returned value) In PHP this would be simple. In vb.net, all I can find are endless badly written code behinds showing how you'd execute the query onLoad then bind it to the label. Is this really the only way to do this? It seems like a ridiculously simple problem to have such a long solution. I have used a datagrid control to just bind the query result directly, but it prints the column name as well as the date, so it's not ideal. Any ideas?

• problem running system.net.webclient and process.start off a control event

  The following code causes my vs 2008 wpf project to hang, I'm not sure why. Both Part 1 and Part 2 work perfectly fine independently, but when I run them together on an control event (click a button for example) the program hangs. I've also tried shell execute for part 2 - same results. However, this code when run within the form loaded event works fine. Any insights would be truly appreciated. I think this happens because the stdin stream is never closed. How do I do that?

• Java Loop every minute.

  I want to write a loop in Java that firs starts up and goes like this: while (!x){ //wait one minute or two //execute code } I want to do this so that it does not use up system resources. What is actually going on in the code is that it goes to a website and checks to see if something is done, if it is not done, it should wait another minute until it checks again, and when its done it just moves on. Is their anyway to do this in java? I googled it but didnt find anything. Thanks

• SQL - query inside NOT IN takes longer than the complete query ??

  Hi every1, I'm using NOT IN inside my SQL query. For example: select columnA from table1 where columnA not in ( select columnB from table2) How is it possible that this part of the query select columnB from table2 takes 30sec to complete, but the whole query above takes 0.1sec to complete?? Shouldn't the complete query take 30sec + ? BTW, both queries return valid results. Thanks! Answers to Comments Is it because the second query hasn't actually completed but has only returned back the first 'x' rows (out of a very large table?) No, the query is completed after 30 seconds, not to many rows returned (eg. 50).   Hello I have a rails application where I have to subtract 2 time stamps and display the result on the webpage I have used the following sql statement and I am getting the results. select (julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*24 from tickets,resolutions the value of tickets.created_at is 2010-04-05 18:59:02 which is a time stamp and value of resolutions.created_at is 2010-04-08 08:10:33 Now where do I put this sql so that I can be seen in my webpage. I tired it in the views page with the following but nothing showed up: <% @sql = "select (julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*24 from tickets,resolutions" %> <% @t=(ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute(@sql)) %> So how do I display it on my webpage? when I perform the above I get the output printed on the webpage as 061.1919444389641(julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*2461.1919444389641 only 61.1919444389641 is supposed to be printed but the query statement is also getting printed.

• Change NSButton Background Image more than once per second

  I am currently working with the iPhone SDK. I have a NSTimer that changes the background image of a NSButton. Once this is complete, it will trigger the same action again (reset the NSTimer) for a predetermined number of times. My problem is that if my NSTimer is set to execute more than once per second. (0.75, say) The background image wont change. I am using NSLog to check that the event fires. But the button image will just remain in its original state. Is there any way to change the background image more often than once per second? Thanks.

  Hello! I am learning Qooxdoo framework and I am trying to make it work with a small Django web service.
