  • Site returning 404 header to google, not sure why

    A Drupal site that works fine for regular users returns a 404 not found error when I try to use the W3C validator on it; it is also not being indexed by google at all (which is the main issue but I suspect there is a connection). It is a https:// site with .htaccess rule to redirect any http:// request to the https://. I had had it running in google webmaster tools and thought it was fine, but it turns out I had not added the https domain. After adding the https domain it's also returning the header as HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2012 19:37:43 GMT Server: Apache Expires: Sun, 19 Nov 1978 05:00:00 GMT Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0 Robots.txt just has User-agent: * Crawl-delay: 10 # Files Disallow: /cron.php How can I check what the issue is here?

    I'm creating a Ruby game using the Gosu framework. All good. Sometimes, when I run the game, it has some kind of slow startup, and probably it will be rather slow during the whole game. So I close it and... open it again. It is very likely that it will startup quickly and the whole game will run smoothly and fast. Why is that? What is this phenomenon? Is it faster because of some cache stored or whatever since the first run? (But why would cache be stored? If the app dies, I would expect no references at all etc...) Ruby, Windows 7.

  • Where to apply these akonadi settings for mysql-server?

    I Am using an external mysql-server to work with akonadi. (using KDE4). Now I could solve all problems with it, but I still have to apply some settings to the "mysql-global.conf"-file of the server. That's what is suggested for example: # wait 365d before dropping the DB connection (default:8h) wait_timeout=31536000 So I tried to change this setting via the mysql console. But it's not reflected anywhere in the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file. (etc/akondai/mysql-global.conf seems to have no effect on the mysql-server either!) My question: Where to put these (or similar) settings to apply them in a way that akonadi won't drop the connection with an external server (globally I guess?)?

  • How can I refactor my code to use fewer singletons?

    I started a component based, networked game (so far only working on the server). I know why singletons can be bad, but I can't think of another way to implement the same thing. So far I have: A GameState singleton (for managing the global state of the game, i.e. pre-game, running, exiting). A World singleton, which is the root entity for my entity graph An EntityFactory A ComponentFactory I'm thinking about adding a "MessageDispatcher" so individual components can subscribe to network messages. The factories do not have state, so I suppose they aren't so bad. However, the others do have global state, which is asking for trouble. How can I refactor my code so it uses fewer singletons?

  • Database Context and Singleton injection with IoC

    All of the below relates to a ASP.NET c# app. I have a Singleton Settings MemoryCache that reads values from database on first access and caches these, then invalidates them using SQL Service Broker message and re-reads as required. For the purposes of standard controllers, i create my Db Context in a request scope. However, this obviously means that i can't use the same context in the Settings Cache class, since that is a singleton and we have a scope collision. At the moment, i ended up with two db contexts - the Controllers get it via IoC container, whereas a Singleton just creates it's own. However, i am not satisfied with this approach (mostly due to the way i feel about two contexts, the cache doesn't set anything on the db hence concurrency is not an issue as much). What is a better way to do it?

  • Initialize array in O(1) -- how is this trick called?

    There is this pattern that trades performance of array access against the need to iterate it when clearing it. You keep a generation counter with each entry, and also a global generation counter. The "clear" operation increases the generation counter. On each access, you compare local vs. global generation counters; if they differ, the array has been reset. This has come up in StackOverflow recently, but I don't remember if this trick has an official name. Does it? One use case is Dijkstra's algorithm if only a tiny subset of the nodes has to be relaxed, and if this has to be done repeatedly.

    I've tried to look into why this isn't echoing but every result the persons trying use php on an html page so this is why I'm here asking. I have 3 php files, a login file, a global config file, and a theme file. The login page echo's the login script but it connects to the global file. The global file connects to the theme file and the db config file. The theme file is a simple table. Everything is lowercase, so I don't think that it's that issue. If I switch to MySQL, the same code same project (I only change driver,URL, authentication), it works. In Eclipse Datasource Explorer, I can ping the DB and it succeeds. Weird thing is that I can't see the tables from there either. It expands the public schema but it doesn't expand the tables. Could it be some permission issue? Thanks!

    TL;DR - Is the immediate failure of a replacement battery, for a failed battery, on a battery backed accelerator for a Smart Array P400 controller a common occurrence? Or are we likely to have an storage controller with an impending and critical fault? We have a slightly confusing situation with a Smart Array P400 storage controller with the 512mb battery backed accelerator addon on an HP DL380 server. The storage controller is (afaik) running the latest firmware and driver: Model: Smart Array P400 Controller Status: OK Firmware Version: 7.24 Serial Number: *snip* Rebuild Priority: Medium Expand Priority: Medium Number Of Ports: 2 The storage diagnostic (both on the both boot-up screen for the controller and within the 'Management Homepage' and the 'HP Array Diagnostic Utility') recently starting showing the following status a fault for the battery for the accelerator: Accelerator Status: Temporarily Disabled Error Code: Cache Disabled Low Batteries Serial Number: *snip* Total Memory: 524288 KB Read Cache: 25% Write Cache: 75% Battery Status: Failed Read Errors: 0 Write Errors: 0 We replaced the battery with a new unit (a visual inspection of the P400 card showing nothing unusual) and saw the same fault - but expected this to disappear over the course of a few hours/days as it charged. This didn't happy, and the fault status remains the same as above. Given the battery is a genuine part from HP, I wouldn't have expected a replacement battery to fail straight away, or to be dead-on-arrival (is that naivety on my part?). Is the immediate failure of a replacement battery, for a failed battery, on a battery backed accelerator a common occurrence? Or are we likely to have an storage controller with an impending and critical fault? Is there any diagnostic that could tell me more about the failed battery, without cracking the server open again?     I have one local Apache instance running with mod_cache (+ disk & mem) enabled, and it seems to cache content from my appserver fine. My app server sets Expiration headers and Last-modified. Yet, when deploying on a production server with the same modules enabled, I am getting the following error in my logs: blablabla not cached. Reason: Query string present but no explicit expiration time Any clues on why Apache is not caching content? The only difference is the Apache version. Locally I am running 2.2.   • How does a web server/the http protocol handle version control and compression?

    When a client browser requests a file from the web server, I know that some kind of check is performed, because the files needed to serve the web page may already be cached by the web browser. So, if a file exists in the cache, no files are sent. But if the file on the server has changed since the file was cached in the browser, the file is sent and updated anyhow. Then, if you have compression like gzipping enabled on the server, the files that are to be provided to the client must be gzipped on the way, requiring some amount of server side processing. But how is this managed? The logical approach seems to me, that the web server should have a cache as well, containing the newest version of all files that have been requested within a certain time span, thus a compressed version of these files, so that compression would not have to be done each time a files is requested. And also, how are files eventually requested? Does the browser ask for files, each time it encounters one in the HTML code and the specific file is not stored in the local cache, or does it sum all the files that are needed up and ask for the whole bunch at the same time? But that's only guessing from a programming point of view, and I don't really know. If the answers are very different among web server systems, I'm primarily interested in Apache, but other answers are appreciated, too.

  • Ubuntu virtual memory caches suck up memory

    Hey all, I've got an Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit server that seems to use up all available memory. According to my munin graphs, almost all of the memory used up is in the swap cache, cache, and slab cache. (I take this to mean virtual memory caches, am I right in assuming this?) Once memory usage approaches 100%, some (although not all) system services such as SSH become sluggish and unresponsive. After rebooting the system, performance and memory usage become normal for a time. Some interesting tidbits: The system runs Apache 2, MySQL, Munin, and sshd. The memory usage spikes happen at the same time every night (at 10 PM sharp.) There appears to be nothing in the crontab for any of the users, and nothing in /etc/cron.d/* out of the ordinary, let alone something that would occur at 10 PM. My question is, how do I figure out what is causing the memory suckage? I've tried the usual utilities (e.g. ps, top, etc) but I can't seem to find anything unusual. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Hi have some questions for Zimbra v8.0.6GA. Under Configure - MTA - Network, I'm seeing a few settings and am not very clear what to do with them. Web mail MTA Host name Is this for delivering local mail only (ie not for external mails)? According to this link, it says the following. That's a mouthful but what is "composed messages"? Is this for a multi server deployment where the Postfix server for Zimbra isn't installed on the same box that as the rest of the servers? Webmail MTA is used by the Zimbra server for composed messages and must be the location of the Postfix server in the Zimbra MTA. Relay MTA for external delivery My understanding after reading the doc is that if my ISP doesn't force me to relay outgoing mails through them, and I have enabled DNS lookup, I can leave this blank? Inbound SMTP host name Sorry I know this is explained as "If your MX records point to a spam-relay or any other external non-Zimbra server, enter the name of that server in the Inbound SMTP host name field." but I'm not following. Can someone provide an example? MTA Trusted Networks The admin doc says "To set up MTA trusted networks on a per server basis, make sure that MTA trusted networks have been set up as global settings and then go the Configure Servers MTA page and in the MTA Trusted Networks field enter the trusted network addresses for the server." However I see out of the box it has default networks setup for the server whereas on a global level it's blank. Does this mean there is a bug with the install software and I have to copy the setting from the server to the global setting?
