  I have a site where I want to have two different home pages: a general description page for anonymous users, and a dashboard page for logged-in users. I am debating between two implementations: Both pages live at / The page for anonymous users is located at / and the dashboard is at /dashboard, with automatic redirection between them based on whether a given user is logged in (e.g., if you're logged in and navigate to /, you are redirected to /dashboard. Is it cleaner to have both pages use the same URL or separate URLs? Also, I imagine that choices for that question will affect the following: Caching: the anonymous page would be completely cached, while the logged-in page would not be cached at all (except for static resources). This could lead to issues with server caching, request speed, and UX (such as if one version of the page is cached in a user's browser when the other version should be displayed, instead). SEO: how would search engines react to such canonical URLs? Load time (due to redirects or to the server having to always reevaluate which page to display)

• Very High CPU usage (100%) from just browsing the Web

  I tested on Firefox and Chromioum. Im at 100% while loading pages which causes them to load slow and when I dont have a application running Im at 40% CPU (At least) Everything is slow basically. Im also already on Ubuntu Classic so im not using Unity. Should I go to 10.04? is that more stable? On windows this wasnt an issue. I have a Dual Boot with XP and a 2.4Ghz Intel Celeron with 768MB RAM and an Nvidia 6200 Graphics card. I heard 10.04 was the most stable. any suggestions?

• JMeter: how to asign a single distinct value from CSV Data Set Config to each thread in thread group?

  I have to make a load test for a relatively large number of users so I cant realy use User Parameters pre-processor to parametrize each thread with custom user data. I've read that I should use CSV Data Set Config instead. However I run into a problem with how JMeter interprets the input of this Config. Example: I have a thread group of 3 threads and Loop Count:10 with one HTTP request sampler with server www.example.com and path: \${user}. The csv file (bullet is a single line in file) for CSV Data Set Config to extract the user parameter: 1 2 3 4 5 Expected output is that for thread 1-x the path of the request should be: \x. So the output file should consist of 10 samples per thread namely: for thread 1-1 : 10 requests to www.example.com\1 for thread 1-2 : 10 requests to www.example.com\2 for thread 1-3 : 10 requests to www.example.com\3 but instead i get requests to each \1 - \5 and then to EOF. Does anyone know how to achieve the expected effect with CSV Data Set Config in jmeter 2.9?

  I've been working on a rather large scale project which makes use of a number of different pages with some very specific Javascript for each of them. To lessen load times, I plan to minify it all in to one file before deploying. The problem is this: how should I avoid launching page specific JS on pages which don't require it? So far my best solution has been to wrap each page in some additional container <div id='some_page'> ...everything else... </div> and I extended jQuery so I can do something like this: // If this element exists when the DOM is ready, execute the function $('#some_page').ready(function() { ... }); Which, while kind of cool, just rubs me the wrong way.

• Joining and compressing all javascript files together - good idea?

  Curently, I avoid loading any unnecesary scripts on individual pages of my site. I have a class that remembers all javascript files that were requested during PHP processing and adds them to HTML. I was just thinking that I could merge the current set of files, save the result in special directory and let the browser download just one, big file. Since the number of possible combinations is not very high, I would end up with about 10 combined files for different pages. I've never seen that on any site. What are the reasons not to do it? I need very fast page load.

All code: FullTrust Success Our application is running on three servers, two of them are on Server 2008 Web x64 while the third is running Server 2008 R2 Web x64, all have .NET 3.5 installed, no .NET 4.0 installations. The problem only occurs on the first two that are running 2008 non R2. Running depends.exe on all three servers gives equal results for the nonR2 servers: My DLL is shown as x86 (compiled as AnyCPU, running in x64 w3wp), all other modules show as x64. Missing IESHIMS.DLL and LINKINFO.DLL - both of these seem to be red herrings according to Google. The third server shows the same, except it does not miss LINKINFO.DLL All servers are running IIS7 (7.5 for the R2 one) under a custom domain account that has been granted the necessary permissions: aspnet_regiis -ga [user] Load user profile is set to false on all three servers. I've tried setting this to true on one of the faulting servers, according to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1846816/iis7-failed-to-grant-minimum-permission-requests By running processmonitor I can see that it's now using the C:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Temp directory for various temp files - the other ones are not using any such directory. So far I'll let it run in this way to see if this changes anything. I'm in doubt however given that the third server is not exhibiting the problems, yet still has "Load user profile" set to the same value, false. I've also tried running Fuslogvw on all three servers, logging binding failures to disk. All three servers report the same binding errors for VJSharpCodeProvider and CppCodeProvider, but these seem to be normal as well and can be solved by not defining the DEBUG and TRACE constants during build. We're running about 500 websites on each server (identical, load balanced), of which 50 are under moderate load, the problem has arisen both under heavy load as well as under minimal load however. Right now I'm waiting for the errors to happen again so I can hopefully see a pattern and determine whether "Load user profile" alleviates the issue. Any suggestions in the meantime would be very welcome! Also, I don't understand how the lack of "Load user profile" would cause an issue like this? And even further, how it would seemingly work on R2 but not on plain 2008? Thanks!

The Kind can belong to many Items. but i get a "unknown attribute: kinds" in my OrdersController when i hit the submit form button. I use nested forms btw. • Complex SQL Query similar to a z order problem

  I have a complex SQL problem in MS SQL Server, and in drawing on a piece of paper I realized that I could think of it as a single bar filled with rectangles, each rectangle having segments with different Z orders. In reality it has nothing to do with z order or graphics at all, but more to do with some complex business rules that would be difficult to explain. Howoever, if anyone has ideas on how to solve the below that will give me my solution. I have the following data: ObjectID, PercentOfBar, ZOrder (where smaller is closer) A, 100, 6 B, 50, 5 B, 50, 4 C, 30, 3 C, 70, 6 The result of my query that I want is this, in any order: PercentOfBar, ZOrder 50, 5 20, 4 30, 3 Think of it like this, if I drew rectangle A, it would fill 100% of the bar and have a z order of 6. 66666666666 AAAAAAAAAAA If I then layed out rectangle B, consisting of two segments, both segments would cover up rectangle A resulting in the following rendering: 4444455555 BBBBBBBBBB As a rule of thumb, for a given rectangle, it's segments should be layed out such that the highest z order is to the right of the lower Z orders. Finally rectangle C would cover up only portions of Rectangle B with it's 30% segment that is z order 3, which would be on the left. You can hopefully see how the is represented in the output dataset I listed above: 3334455555 CCCBBBBBBB Now to make things more complicated I actually have a 4th column such that this grouping occurs for each key: Input: SomeKey, ObjectID, PercentOfBar, ZOrder (where smaller is closer) X, A, 100, 6 X, B, 50, 5 X, B, 50, 4 X, C, 30, 3 X, C, 70, 6 Y, A, 100, 6 Z, B, 50, 2 Z, B, 50, 6 Z, C, 100, 5 Output: SomeKey, PercentOfBar, ZOrder X, 50, 5 X, 20, 4 X, 30, 3 Y, 100, 6 Z, 50, 2 Z, 50, 5 Notice in the output, the PercentOfBar for each SomeKey would add up to 100%. This is one I know I'm going to be thinking about when I go to bed tonight. Just to be explicit and have a question: What would be a query that would produce the results described above?

So I've been making the assumption that: Hashtable and Hashset do not preserve the insertion order (aka the "hash" in there is a giveaway) Dictionary and List DO preserve the insertion order. from this I extrapolate that if I have a Dictionary<double,double> foo that defines a curve, foo.Keys.ToList() and foo.Values.ToList() will give me an ordered list of the scope and domain of that curve without messing about with it?

I looked at the sales_order table, and sure enough, increment_id is null... can anyone help me out, I am stumped? • Zend Framework - applying order by on a nested query

Check out the normal sql query below (select * from shopping order by shopping_id desc limit 5) order by RAND() This query runs successfully in mysql - not sure if this is the right way of doing it - but it works. It gets the last 5 ids from shopping table and randomly orders them everytime I want to achieve this in Zend. I'm not sure how to execute the first part and then apply the RAND clause to the results - what I have below does not do that. $select = $this-select() -from(array('sh'='shopping')) -order('shopping_id desc') -limit(5) -order('RAND()');

• Some sites won't load on Ubuntu/Mint

  I have a REALLY weird problem with either my network or my OS. Last week I've suddenly had difficulties loading some websites or even more odd some parts of different websites. For example, I could load gmail.com, login and view the list of emails in my inbox but when I clicked one of them it would just time out. Another example is http://www.ynet.co.il, I can view the home page but going into any one of the articles fails (times out). I've tried Chrome, Firefox and Opera, all fail the same way. If I take a URL of a page I cannot load via the browser and try to wget it though the console I get the file just fine. I've formatted my machine (Used to run Ubuntu 13.04) and installed Mint Linux this time, it worked fine for a few days and now, again, having the same exact issues. Important to note that I have other machines connected either directly or via Wi-Fi to the router and they are all working fine (two win7 machines and 1 raspberry pi). Another strange behavior is that I can ftp or ssh to remote machines but cannot send files via ftp (times out) even if I set passive mode ON and when using ssh I can do just about anything but I cannot paste text into the remote machine, for example if I nano a file on the remote machine and try to paste anything from my clipboard it freezes. What I've tried so far: Disable IPv6 on the networking admin (and on firefox disabling ipv6 on the about:config page) Changing the port and the network cable I went to the store and bought a new standalone PCIe network adapter Connected my win7 laptop using the same cable and router port (sites that were not working on my Mint are working just fine on the win7 machine) Loaded Mint from a livecd, got the same result Tried changing the MTU (was 1500, tried 1492) Some observations: When I clear my browser cache and go to facebook.com for example, the homepage loads but I fail to load any profile/group page. If I refresh facebook.com homepage a couple of times it stops and fails to load until I clear my browser cache. I changed the chrome cache folder permissions to 0777 but that did not help. When I run netstat -n I see A LOT of connections that are in 'FIN_WAIT' mode (I'm guessing that's when I try to refresh pages that are not working and timing out), I have no idea what it means or if it helps anyone figure out what's wrong. The sites that are not loading correctly are always that same, they don't vary or anything and they fail to load exactly the same way on all three browsers that I've tried. When I Googled 'Ubuntu some sites not loading' I see a huge amount of complaints just like mine, but none of them that I could find actually says what the problem is or how they fixed it.   I have one table with two queries and I need to sort it with descending type using ORDER BY. Here is my MySQL query that does not work properly: (SELECT `text` FROM `comments` WHERE user_fr='".$user."' && archive='1' ORDER BY `is_new_fr` DESC) UNION (SELECT `text` FROM `message` WHERE user_to='".$user."' && archive='1' ORDER BY `is_new_to` DESC) Description! is_new_fr and is_new_to counts total new messages. Here is my table contant: user_fr | user_to | archive | is_new_fr | is_new_to| text name1 | name2 | 1 | 2 | 0 | testing... name2 | name1 | 1 | 0 | 5 | testing ... I want to make an order that 1st will display note that has more messages to few, or by another words using DESCending type. This is the display on the page I want to do: Open dialog with name2. • Emulator restarts after snapshot load

  I've set up a android emulator with a snapshot of a specific state i need to go back every time. the snapshot is created and is listed and i can also start directly with this snapshot with emulator -avd MyAVD -snapshot mystate -no-snapshot-save the problem is now that the emulator restart itselfs after i load the snapshot after i did my changes in the emulator. So if i use echo -e "avd snapshot load mystate\nexit" | nc localhost 5554 the snapshot is loaded correctly but then after some seconds i see the bootloader screen. Whats happening there? this phenomen is repeatable with different emulators and different snapshots. is it possible that i just misuse a feature here? edit: it seems this problem is only occuring when i load a snapshot multiple times. after starting the emulator, everything is working quite well. now i load my snapshot, also everything is working well. but when i now load the same snapshot again, it will correctly load it but then the emulator will restart. so is there any possibility to load a snapshot multiple times? otherwise i always need to restart my emulator, which takes a long time...

• Saving jQuery UI Sortable's order to Backbone.js Collection

  I have a Backbone.js collection that I would like to be able to sort using jQuery UI's Sortable. Nothing fancy, I just have a list that I would like to be able to sort. The problem is that I'm not sure how to get the current order of items after being sorted and communicate that to the collection. Sortable can serialize itself, but that won't give me the model data I need to give to the collection. Ideally, I'd like to be able to just get an array of the current order of the models in the collection and use the reset method for the collection, but I'm not sure how to get the current order. Please share any ideas or examples for getting an array with the current model order.

• High load on X3220 Quad Core Linux Apache server

  I'm seriously in need of help. My sites are now nearly impossible to use because of massive loads on my server. I'm already a month late on my mortgage and this really isn't helping my situation. I've been working on fixing this intermittent load problem for months (never this bad). I'm suspecting some kind of attack since I'm under DDOS attack a lot! I've been trying to figure out what is causing the load but I'm afraid I just don't have the experience or knowledge to understand all the data I've been looking at. I don't even know where to begin or how to test for the large array of attacks out there. Here's some data you might find useful... Server: Xeon X3220 Quad Core 2.4 GHz - Linux, FreeBSD 500 GB HD and 8 Gig of Ram. Runs Centos release 5.7 Server Version: Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_qos/9.74 Warning: All sites are softcore adult sites - mostly fantasy art like elves and amazons. 1) Sites may run fine for weeks or just days at less than 10 load then start jumping to 40-80 load - no idea why. Same sites, same mods, same amount of traffic - just WHAM! 2) I get an email almost every day that says: "Large Number of Failed Login Attempts from IP (different each time)". My webhost (who almost never helps me) told me it was a udp flood or something. 3) I've changed the port for MySQL from the default. If I ever put it back to the default - I get Loads of over 100 from what must be a constant mysql port flood. 4) I've reconfigured MYSQL. I've spent a couple weeks turning all the mods/plugins off, waiting a day and then turning them back on the next day or later if there isn't any change (there hasn't been). For example, on Thursday I'll turn off videos, on Friday I'll turn off chat.. etc and nothing changes the load appreciably. 6) Joomla info: All SEF turned off - sh404sef completely disabled and removed. Components: Joomla 1.5.22, Jomsocial 2.0.5, Kunena 1/31/2011, HWDMediashare 11/22/2010 and JBolo Chat 2.7.3, Comet Chat or Envolve Chat. Page Compression is on, Cache is on 15 mins.   Hello, I´m trying to save and load objects using pickle module. First I declare my objects: >>> class Fruits:pass ... >>> banana = Fruits() >>> banana.color = 'yellow' >>> banana.value = 30 After that I open a file called 'Fruits.obj'(previously I created a new .txt file and I renamed 'Fruits.obj'): >>> import pickle >>> filehandler = open(b"Fruits.obj","wb") >>> pickle.dump(banana,filehandler) After do this I close my session and I began a new one and I put the next (trying to access to the object that it supposed to be saved): file = open("Fruits.obj",'r') object_file = pickle.load(file) But I have this message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "C:\Python31\lib\pickle.py", line 1365, in load encoding=encoding, errors=errors).load() ValueError: read() from the underlying stream did notreturn bytes I don´t know what to do because I don´t understand this message. Does anyone know How I can load my object 'banana'? Thank you!
