• Version resource in DLL not visible with right-click

  I'm trying to do something which is very easy to do in the regular MSVC, but not supported easily in VC++ Express. There is no resource editor in VC++ Express. So I added a file named version.rc into my DLL project. The file has the below content, which is compiled by the resource compiler and added to the final DLL. This resource is viewable in the DLL using reshacker, though not when right-clicking the DLL in Windows Explorer. What is missing from my RC file to make it appear when right-clicking? • Recursive Iterators

  I am having some trouble making an iterator that can traverse the following type of data structure. I have a class called Expression, which has one data member, a List<object>. This list can have any number of children, and some of those children might be other Expression objects. I want to traverse this structure, and print out every non-list object (but I do want to print out the elements of the list of course), but before entering a list, I want to return "begin nest" and after I just exited a list, I want to return "end nest". I was able to do this if I ignored the class wherever possible, and just had List<object> objects with List<object> items if I wanted a subExpression, but I would rather do away with this, and instead have an Expressions as the sublists (it would make it easier to do operations on the object. I am aware that I could use extension methods on the List<object> but it would not be appropriate (who wants an Evaluate method on their list that takes no arguments?). The code that I used to generate the origonal iterator (that works) is: public IEnumerator GetEnumerator(){ return theIterator(expr).GetEnumerator(); } private IEnumerable theIterator(object root) { if ((root is List<object>)){ yield return " begin nest "; foreach (var item in (List<object>)root){ foreach (var item2 in theIterator(item)){ yield return item2; } } yield return " end nest "; } else yield return root; } A type swap of List<object> for expression did not work, and lead to a stackOverflow error. • Submit jQuery UI dialog on <Enter>

  I have a jQuery UI dialog box with a form. I would like to simulate a click on one of the dialog's buttons so you don't have to use the mouse or tab over to it. In other words, I want it to act like a regular GUI dialog box where simulates hitting the "OK" button. I assume this might be a simple option with the dialog, but I can't find it in the jQuery UI documentation. I could bind each form input with keyup() but didn't know if there was a simpler/cleaner way. Thanks.

Any help on this would be much appreciated, I do understand that this is complex stuff.

• Strongly typed dynamic Linq sorting

  I'm trying to build some code for dynamically sorting a Linq IQueryable<. The obvious way is here, which sorts a list using a string for the field name http://dvanderboom.wordpress.com/2008/12/19/dynamically-composing-linq-orderby-clauses/ However I want one change - compile time checking of field names, and the ability to use refactoring/Find All References to support later maintenance. That means I want to define the fields as f=f.Name, instead of as strings. For my specific use I want to encapsulate some code that would decide which of a list of named "OrderBy" expressions should be used based on user input, without writing different code every time. Here is the gist of what I've written: var list = from m Movies select m; // Get our list var sorter = list.GetSorter(...); // Pass in some global user settings object sorter.AddSort("NAME", m=m.Name); sorter.AddSort("YEAR", m=m.Year).ThenBy(m=m.Year); list = sorter.GetSortedList(); ... public class Sorter ... public static Sorter GetSorter(this IQueryable source, ...) The GetSortedList function determines which of the named sorts to use, which results in a List object, where each FieldData contains the MethodInfo and Type values of the fields passed in AddSort: public SorterItem AddSort(Func field) { MethodInfo ... = field.Method; Type ... = TypeOf(TKey); // Create item, add item to diction, add fields to item's List // The item has the ThenBy method, which just adds another field to the List } I'm not sure if there is a way to store the entire field object in a way that would allow it be returned later (it would be impossible to cast, since it is a generic type) Is there a way I could adapt the sample code, or come up with entirely new code, in order to sort using strongly typed field names after they have been stored in some container and retrieved (losing any generic type casting)

• Is it possible to use the ScalaTest BDD syntax in a JUnit environment?

  I would like to describe tests in BDD style e.g. with FlatSpec but keep JUnit as a test runner. The ScalaTest Quick Start does not seem to show any example of this: http://www.scalatest.org/getting_started_with_junit_4 I first tried naively to write tests within @Test methods, but that doesn't work and the assertion is never tested: @Test def foobarBDDStyle { "The first name control" must "be valid" in { assert(isValid("name·1")) } // etc. } Is there any way to achieve this? It would be even better if regular tests can be mixed and matched with BDD-style tests.

If yes, what are the benefits of using these classes rather than im just using regular class/methods/params to create my API interface.   I'm starting out in the world of SpecFlow and I have come across my first problem. In terms of keeping my code DRY I'd like to do the following: Have two scenarios: Given I am on a product page And myfield equals todays date Then... Given I am on a product page And myfield equals todays date plus 4 days Then... I was hoping to use the following Step Definition to cover both variants of my And clause: [Given(@"myfield equals todays date(?: (plus|minus) (\d+) days)?")] public void MyfieldEqualsTodaysDate(string direction, int? days) { //do stuff } However I keep getting exceptions when SpecFlow tries to parse the int? param. I've checked the regular expression and it definitely parses the scenario as expected. I'm aware that I could so something as crude as method overloading etc, I was just wondering if SpecFlow supported the idea of default parameter values, or indeed another way to achieve the same effect. • python dictionary conversion from string?

  if I've string like "{ partner_name = test_partner}" OR " { partner_name : test_partner } its an example string will be very complex with several special characters included like =, [ , ] , { , } what will be the best way to convert it into a python object - so I can process it I tried with eval but it requires " ' " for string, but how can we add this special character \' before starting and ending of every word, I tried regular express re.findal('\w+') but it fails when my string contains ' _ ' or like characters as it will separate the string by ' _ ' Object of this question is my application needs, user friendly language as input - and I thought Json Dict will be good - but user is lazzy to put " ' " before and after of each string... then I thought for yaml but its also complex, if anybody can suggest better user friendly input which I use as python object - then please help me out.

At first I was thinking, it registers it's instances to keep track of them, but regular constructors could do the same thing through the use of private static variables.   I have found several examples online where we can create a proc file, assign read and write methods that are called every time the proc file is opened for read or written to. However, I can't seem to find any documentation on how to programatically write to a proc file. Ideally, I would like to add a timestamp with other user details every time the proc file is opened for read or for write. Again, I've found where I can add the read and write functions that are triggered when the proc file is opened, but I can't find documentation on how to actually write to a proc file programatically. This would be different from a regular IO read/write, correct?

  Hi there, I am working on an iPhone version of a website, and I am using jQuery .animate() with the scrollTop attribute to scroll to different sections of the page. Something like so: $('html,body').animate({ scrollTop: distance }, 300); On regular web browsers, the scrolling starts from the current window position to the desired position. On the iPhone, the window jumps back to the top of the document before scrolling to the desired position. This is apparently the intended action, but the pages just don't look good with all that movement. Alternatively, on Google.com for the iPhone, when the autosuggest is activated, there is a nice simple scroll to show the autosuggest options below the search box. That's what I'd like to do...

• phpMyAdmin Cron to Delete Temporary Files

  I have a folder on my hosting which I periodically upload something to - /public_html/uploads - and I'd like to set up a cronjob through phpMyAdmin to empty it out on a regular basis. The current cron I have in pMA is find /public_html/uploads -maxdepth 1 -ctime 1 -exec rm -f {} \; (Ignore the fact that it's running every minute for now, it's so I can test it :) ) I know very little about what this command is actually doing, but it looks like "not very much".   According to Google, I must "Deactivate any calls to Log methods in the source code" before publishing my Android app (section 4 of the publication checklist). My open-source project is large and it is a pain to do it manually every time I release. Additionally, removing a Log line is potentially tricky, for instance: if(condition) Log.d(LOG_TAG, "Something"); data.load(); data.show(); If I comment the Log line, then the condition applies to the next line, and chances are load() is not called. Are such situations rare enough that I can decide it should exist? This is on the official checklist, so I guess many people do this on a regular basis. So, is there a tool that removes all Log lines? Preferably one that is not tricked by code like the above.

  I've written a little HTML5 based web app that I am trying to debug on the iPad using the Chrome for iPad app. I have added a cache.manifest file to my app which has some heavy caching in it of most static resources however since I am now wanting to debug the app I need a way to clear this cache. I know that on Chrome for Mac you can use: chrome://appcache-internals/ however this page does not exist in the iPad app of Chrome. The regular "Clear Browsing Data" does not empty the appcache —at least not in my case. Does anyone know how I can clear the appcache for the Chrome iPad app?

• How to grab the lines AFTER a matched line in python

  Hi All, I am an amateur using Python on and off for some time now. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I was wondering if anyone knew an easy way to grab a bunch of lines if the format in the input file is like this: " Heading 1 Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Heading 2 Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 " I won't know how many lines are after each heading, but I want to grab them all. All I know is the name, or a regular expression pattern for the heading. The only way I know to read a file is the "for line in file:" way, but I don't know how to grab the lines AFTER the line I'm currently on. Hope this makes sense, and thanks for the help!

  I'm a bit lost on the way to make this happen the fastest. I have a large list of objects that have basic variable attributes (with getters / setters) and I need to do a search in this list to find the objects within the list that match a given parameter I have found how to do a regular list search but I need to, for example search for the value of the result of doing a call getName() for each object in the list and get objects that have a result that matches my input. Something like below where the third argument is the result of the method call and the second is what I am trying to find. int index = Collections.binarySearch(myList, "value", getName()); Any advice is appreciated

• Apache friendly urls

  Hi everyone. I've got a small CMS system written in PHP and running on Apache. The format of the URLs this CMS system uses/generates is: /display.php?PageID=xxx where xxx is just some integer number. As you can see, those URLs are not very friendly, neither for users nor search engines. I believe that using mod_rewrite (or something like that) and .htaccess files I should be able to configure Apache for URL-rewriting. I have searched for information about this before but I did not find any easy method to do this, it always involved messing with regular expressions, which I'm not very familiar with. Since the website in question is really simple and small, just 5-10 different pages, I would really like to be able to just hard-code the configuration, without any special rules or regexps. I'd just like to map a friendly URL to an actual URL, perhaps like this: /about = /display.php?PageID=44 /products = /display.php?PageID=34 etc. Is it possible to configure the mod_rewrite plugin in a basic way like this? Could someone explain the easiest method to do this? Explain it to me as if I was a child :-) Thanks in advance!
