  • Firefox add-on tab-specific buttons and scripts, similar to Page Actions in Google Chrome

    - by Chetan
I want to write a Firefox extension that acts exactly like the built-in RSS feed scanner (as an exercise). It should do the following: On each new page / tab load, it should scan the content of the page for RSS feeds If there are RSS feeds in the page, it should put a button in the location bar that the user can click On clicking the button, a speech bubble should appear under the button (the way a speech bubble appears under the bookmarks star when you click on it), with information on the feeds and buttons to subscribe to them So my main questions are: What is the process to run specific content scripts for specific pages? What is the process to use the results of those scripts to update the speech bubble for each location bar button for each tab? Basically, I'm trying to figure out how to do in Firefox what Page Actions are in Google Chrome. Please help! :)

  • Run jquery image resizer after image is appended.

    - by Goldy
Hi all, I am using this jQuery plugin to re-size images. http://hirdet2.extra.hu/kepresize/ . $(document).ready(function(){ $('#content img').kepresize({maxWidth: 200,maxHeight: 150}); .... .... $('#content').append('<img src="pathtofile"/>'); }); However, these images are only being appended after the document loads, depending on the users actions. Therefore the appended images are not being re-sized. I have had a play around with .live() but can't seem to get it right. Any help would be much appreciated.

    - by lmenaria
Hello, I have created a simple silverlight application to display some text at realtime from xml. The text display using HTML DIV tag. Silverlight Plugin resize based in XML contents. My code : MainPage.xaml: MainPage.xaml.cs: Creating HTML DIV on Application Start using : HtmlDocument _document = HtmlPage.Document; HtmlElement iDIV = _document.CreateElement("DIV"); iDIV.SetAttribute("id", "divHTMLViewer"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("position", "absolute"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("z-index", "1"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("display", "INLINE"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("top", "100px"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("height", "0px"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("width", "96%"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("left", "15px"); iDIV.SetStyleAttribute("text-align", "justify"); HtmlElement body = _document.GetElementsByTagName("BODY")[0] as HtmlElement; body.RemoveChild(iDIV); body.AppendChild(iDIV); Set the XML text : HtmlElement divHTMLViewer = HtmlPage.Document.GetElementById("divHTMLViewer"); sText = sText.Replace("<", "<").Replace(">", ""); divHTMLViewer.SetStyleAttribute("display", "none"); divHTMLViewer.SetStyleAttribute("width", "96%"); divHTMLViewer.SetStyleAttribute("top", "100px"); divHTMLViewer.SetStyleAttribute("left", "15px"); divHTMLViewer.RemoveStyleAttribute("color"); divHTMLViewer.RemoveStyleAttribute("fontSize"); divHTMLViewer.SetProperty("innerHTML", sText); divHTMLViewer.SetStyleAttribute("display", "INLINE"); setSilverlightControlHeight(UILAYOUT.INSTRUCTIONS); Silverlight Plugin size increase code : isilverlightControlHost.SetStyleAttribute("height", HtmlPage.Window.Eval("document.documentElement.scrollHeight").ToString() + "px"); isilverlightControlHost.SetStyleAttribute("position", "absolute"); All these code is working fine in Internet Explorer, Crome & Safari but "Continue" not visible in FIREFOX ONLY. So is there any issue with this code ? Code Sample :http://lm-bucket-for-forum-post.s3.amazonaws.com/HtMLViewerSilverLight.zip working sample : Just replace ".zip" with "TestPage.html" in above URL. Please let me know how can I solve it ? Thanks in advance, Laxmilal Menaria

  • Model-View-Controller in JavaScript

    - by Casey Hope
tl;dr: How does one implement MVC in JavaScript in a clean way? I'm trying to implement MVC in JavaScript. I have googled and reorganized with my code countless times but have not found a suitable solution. (The code just doesn't "feel right".) Here's how I'm going about it right now. It's incredibly complicated and is a pain to work with (but still better than the pile of code I had before). It has ugly workarounds that sort of defeat the purpose of MVC. And behold, the mess, if you're really brave: // Create a "main model" var main = Model0(); function Model0() { // Create an associated view and store its methods in "view" var view = View0(); // Create a submodel and pass it a function // that will "subviewify" the submodel's view var model1 = Model1(function (subview) { view.subviewify(subview); }); // Return model methods that can be used by // the controller (the onchange handlers) return { 'updateModel1': function (newValue) { model1.update(newValue); } }; } function Model1(makeSubView) { var info = ''; // Make an associated view and attach the view // to the parent view using the passed function var view = View1(); makeSubView(view.__view); // Dirty dirty // Return model methods that can be used by // the parent model (and so the controller) return { 'update': function (newValue) { info = newValue; // Notify the view of the new information view.events.value(info); } }; } function View0() { var thing = document.getElementById('theDiv'); var input = document.getElementById('theInput'); // This is the "controller", bear with me input.onchange = function () { // Ugly, uses a global to contact the model main.updateModel1(this.value); }; return { 'events': {}, // Adds a subview to this view. 'subviewify': function (subview) { thing.appendChild(subview); } }; } // This is a subview. function View1() { var element = document.createElement('div'); return { 'events': { // When the value changes this is // called so the view can be updated 'value': function (newValue) { element.innerHTML = newValue; } }, // ..Expose the DOM representation of the subview // so it can be attached to a parent view '__view': element }; } How does one implement MVC in JavaScript in a cleaner way? How can I improve this system? Or is this the completely wrong way to go, should I follow another pattern?

  • using MODI in C# to read image - numbers with a length of 1 is missing

    - by keysersoze
I am about building an C#-application in which I am trying to read text from an gif-image (OCR) - I am using MODI and the images are a bit like a lotto coupon (random numbers in rows and columns). I now got the following code which read all numbers except single numbers (1, 2, 3...) MODI.Document objModi = new MODI.Document(); objModi.Create("C:\\image.gif"); objModi.OCR(MODI.MiLANGUAGES.miLANG_DANISH, true, true); MODI.Image image = (MODI.Image)objModi.Images[0]; MODI.Layout layout = image.Layout; I cannot change the content of the image but can I do anything with the above code so it can read the single numbers?

  • jquery nodename returning undefined

    - by matthewsteiner
    This code isn't for anything in particular. I'm just trying to successfully get the tagName or nodeName of an element. However, when I run the following code, I always get an alert saying "undefined". I'm wondering if it's because this function executes when the document is ready? Is there a different place I should be doing this? Or is it probably my other javascript code conflicting somehow (I would doubt). $(document).ready(function(){ $('#first').hover(function() { alert($('#last').nodeName); }); });

  • ff extension. how to pass parameters to a function in the oncommand attribute in menu

    - by encryptor
I have a ff extension which creates a popup and shows dynamic data in it. basically when the popup opens a js function is run which then constructs the popup list by appending the items like this var myMenuPopup = document.getElementById("file-popup4"); newItem = document.createElement("menuitem"); newItem.setAttribute("label", namelist[m]); newItem.setAttribute("id", "item" + m); Now I need to have the click functionality too on these newly added menuitems. putting the atttribute and forming the function is easy. I can have a function to be run when they are clicked. But i need to pass namelist[i] to the function and it will act according to the namelist parameter. If i do: newItem.setAttribute("oncommand" , finalclick(namelist[m])); it runs the function everytime the popup opens runs the function without even clicking on it on the other hand if i use quotes i.i if i do newItem.setAttribute("oncommand" , "finalclick(namelist[m])"); it doesnot open even on clicking giving error : namelist is not defined.

  • asynchronous .js file loading syntax

    - by taber
Hi, I noticed that there seems to be a couple of slightly different syntaxes for loading js files asynchronously, and I was wondering if there's any difference between the two, or if they both pretty much function the same. I'm guessing they work the same, but just wanted to make sure one method isn't better than the other for some reason. :) Method One (function() { var d=document, h=d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0], s=d.createElement('script'); s.type='text/javascript'; s.src='/js/myfile.js'; h.appendChild(s); })(); /* note ending parenthesis and curly brace */ Method Two (Saw this in Facebook's code) (function() { var d=document, h=d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0], s=d.createElement('script'); s.type='text/javascript'; s.async=true; s.src='/js/myfile.js'; h.appendChild(s); }()); /* note ending parenthesis and curly brace */

  • Use same project to create multiple applications on same device

    - by Mark.Prof
I am deploying a reader application with it's document packaged in the asset folder. Any branding is done by dynamically generating xml and resources as appropriate. The application name itself is also generated. Since it is the tag's "package" property that needs to be unique, I nevertheless have a problem installing more than one instance of this app. I would like to dynamically edit the manifest package attribute's value to reflect the document and brand that I am building. But this causes build problems, specifically the location of R.java is no longer available to the component package under which the code resides. Originally, the component package is the same as the application manifest package. But precisely this manifest package name is the part that needs to be variable. How should I best proceed?

  • How to jQuery slidedown once page has already been loaded

    - by bulltorious
I am having a timing issue when attempting to slide down my more info div. My desired functionality is that the div slidesdown from the top once the page has already been rendered. My problem is if I use $(document).ready().. the animation does not visibly occur. Here is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $(".MoreInfo").slideDown('slow'); }); If I strap it to some other element's click for example, it works beautifully. But I am not sure how to make it visibly slide down once the page has loaded. Thanks!

  • jQuery in Opera User JS Doesn't Work

    - by Axonn
Hello ::- ). I'm playing with some Opera User JS. I included "1jquery.min.js" in my User JS folder (1 in front because Opera loads them alphabetically). Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working. window.onload = OnWindowLoad; $(document).ready(function() { alert ($('#area_19')); }); function OnWindowLoad () { alert ($('#area_19')); alert(document.getElementById("area_19")); } What's interesting about this code is that the first two alerts come back in NULL, but the last one does find the object! So the element definitely exists in the page, but my jQuery seems unable to get it. What's even stranger is that the jQuery "ready" function works, indicating that I do have jQuery capability. I'm quite puzzled about all this ::- /. Hopefully somebody can give me a clue ::- ).

  • Sorting a nodeset before passing to xsl:for-each

    - by Zack Mulgrew
I have a situation where loop through a sorted nodeset and apply a template on each of the nodes: <div id="contractscontainer"> <xsl:for-each select="document"> <xsl:sort select="content[@name='ClientName']/text()" /> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="client-contract" /> </xsl:for-each> </div> I want to do something special with the "first" 5 nodes in the node set and render them nested element. The problem is that they need to be in the same order as if they were sorted (as they are in the loop). I had planned on doing this by using two xsl:for-each elements, each with the correct nodes selected from the set. I can't do this, however, because they need to be sorted before I can select the "first" 5. Example: <div id="contractscontainer"> <div class="first-five"> <xsl:for-each select="document[position() < 6]"> <xsl:sort select="content[@name='ClientName']/text()" /> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="client-contract" /> </xsl:for-each> </div> <div class="rest-of-them"> <xsl:for-each select="document[position() > 5]"> <xsl:sort select="content[@name='ClientName']/text()" /> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="client-contract" /> </xsl:for-each> </div> </div> I don't think this will work because I'm selecting the nodes by position before sorting them, but I can't use xsl:sort outside of the xsl:for-each. Am I approaching this incorrectly?

  • How to get a non-XML output using JDOM XSLTransformer?

    - by Neil McF
Hello, I have an XML file which I'd like to parse into a non-XML (text) file based on a XLST file. The code in both seem correct, and it works when testing manually, but I'm having a problem doing this programatically. I'm using JDOM's XSLTransformer class to apply the XSLT to the XML and it returns it in the format of a JDOM Document. The problem here is that I can't seem to access anything in the Document as it is not a proper XML file and I get a "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Root element not set" error. Is there a better way within Java to obtain a non-XML file as a result of XSLT?

  • How to get a reference to node in DOM tree in Google Chrome debugger console

    - by .yahoo.co.jpaqwsykcj3aulh3h1k0cy6nzs3isj
In the Google Chrome debugger, I often want to get a reference to a node in the DOM tree. I can click the "magnifying glass" button and then click the desired element in the browser window to select the corresponding node in the DOM tree displayed in the debugger. But how can I get a reference to that node in the console? If the element has an id, document.getElementById works, but if there is no id, is there a better alternative to XPath or manual traversal of the DOM tree using children? In case XPath is the best way, is there a better way than doing something like this: var evaluator = new XPathEvaluator(); var result = evaluator.evaluate("//div", document.documentElement, null, XPathResult.FIRST_ORDERED_NODE_TYPE, null); which is a pain to type out each time.

  • JSONP context problem

    - by PoweRoy
    I'm using a javascript autocomplete () in a greasemonkey script. On itself it works correctly but I wan't to add JSONP because I want the data from another domain. The code (snippet): function autosuggest(url) { this.suggest_url = url; this.keywords = []; return this.construct(); }; autosuggest.prototype = { construct: function() { return this; }, preSuggest: function() { this.CreateJSONPRequest(this.suggest_url + "foo"); }, CreateJSONPRequest: function(url) { var headID = document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0]; var newScript = document.createElement('script'); newScript.type = 'text/javascript'; newScript.src = url +'&callback=autosuggest.prototype.JSONCallback'; //newScript.async = true; newScript.onload = newScript.onreadystatechange = function() { if (newScript.readyState === "loaded" || newScript.readyState === "complete") { //remove it again newScript.onload = newScript.onreadystatechange = null; if (newScript && newScript.parentNode) { newScript.parentNode.removeChild(newScript); } } } headID.appendChild(newScript); }, JSONCallback: function(data) { if(data) { this.keywords = data; this.suggest(); } }, suggest: function() { //use this.keywords } }; //Add suggestion box to textboxes window.opera.addEventListener('AfterEvent.load', function (e) { var textboxes = document.getElementsByTagName('input'); for (var i = 0; i < textboxes.length; i++) { var tb = textboxes[i]; if (tb.type == 'text') { if (tb.autocomplete == undefined || tb.autocomplete == '' || tb.autocomplete == 'on') { //we handle autosuggestion tb.setAttribute('autocomplete','off'); var obj1 = new autosuggest("http://test.php?q="); } } } }, false); I removed not relevant code. Now when 'preSuggest' is called, it add a script to the header and circumvent the crossdomain problem. Now when the data is received back 'JSONcallback' is called. I can use the data, but when 'Suggest' is I can't use the this.keywords array or this.suggest_url. I think this is because 'JSONcallback' and 'Suggest' are called in a different context. How can I get this working?
