• How to render Minecraft on the GPU?

  Hardware: Intel i7 AMD Radeon HD 6970 SSD with plenty of space 6 GB RAM Software OpenJDK 6, 7, and Oracle Java 7 (reproducible with all three) AMD Catalyst 12.8 and open source driver (reproducible with both) Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 and older Minecraft 1.3.2 vanilla and older On this setup I am getting rubbish frame rates after a short while of playing, dropping from about 45-55 to 15 in a couple of minutes. CPU use is 40-45 even when rendering the opening screen at 1920x1280, and gameRenderer is using about 90% CPU when playing. Rather than trying to eke out a few more FPS out of an obviously broken rendering pipeline, I really hope to find a solution to make the GPU render Minecraft.

• Can't start ubuntu 11.10, Stops at login screen!

  I have been trying to dual boot ubuntu with windows 7 via WUBI on my custom built pc but without success. When i start the computer i can choose windows or ubuntu i choose ubuntu and when i should get to the login screen the screen just stays purple/pink. Tried safe mode but cant get in there either. I have tried reinstall but did not work either. :( The second time i install ubuntu the screen was purple/pink and the screen was cut of so the left side was on the right side and right side on left side (hard to describe) Third time installing (The last time) it is just like the first time please help!!!! cant get nowhere without help i am kinda new at ubuntu and its creepy commands. Had ubuntu on my old computer. I think the problem is my hardware so here is my computer specs: Amd Fx 6100 Amd HIS Radeon HD 6950 ICEQ X Asus Sabertooth 990fx 1TB Harddrive I have no idea the name on it Please Help me!!   I'm trying to get vga_switcheroo to enable my integrated Intel HD 3000 instead of my ATI card. • Install/Downgrade kernel to v3.5.5 on Ubuntu 13.04

  I've been looking around the internet for a solution to downgrade the kernel from 3.8 to 3.5.5 since I've got the AMD/Ati Radeon Mobility HD 5600 graphic card on my machine. This video card in unfortunately not supported by the 3.8 kernel. And then when I've downgraded the kernel I need to install a version 12.* of the AMD Catalyst driver. There is too much in stake to wipe out the current installation of the OS and install an older OS. So I would like to avoid doing that to the ends of the world. • Missing launcher, top panel without icons, an ATI driver problem?

  After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10, the following problems occurs when accesing in ubuntu mode (3D): the launcher is missing, top panel without icons on the right side, and I can only restart with Terminal (Alt-T and then sudo reboot). No problems in 2D. It occurs on my PC with AMD Athlon (tm) II X4 640 Processor, Radeon HD5670 and both with the 32-bit and 64 bits versions of Ubuntu. Both versions work well on an older PC with AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4200 + processor, and an Nvidia integrated graphics card (C61 GeForce 6150SE nForce 430). Could it be a problem with the ATI driver?

• Ubuntu 12.04 freezing on startup

  Have been looking everywhere to find a solution to this problem but have yet to find a solution. I am running 64 bit 12.04 LTS on a AMD C-50 Dual core 6 gigs ram AMD Ratheon HD 6250. The problem I am experiencing is when ubuntu gets to the wallpaper screen it will sometimes freeze soon after the the image appears or shortly there after gnome loads locking up keyboard and mouse. When I try to log in via the console the same thing happens (this is as ubuntu is loading). At the moment the system is set to auto login previously it was set to ask for password but it did the same thing. Switching to from lightdm to gdm did nothing to alleviate the issue. I have never had so many issues with ubuntu I have to say 12.04 is the most buggy version yet.

• Trouble with FGLRX in quantal x86_64

  it's the third time i have to reinstall quantal because the fglrx is making me sick. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (the code ir RS880).When i install Ati Driver, i don't have any problems, but when i reboot, the resolution is minimal and the launcher isn't visible, i can only use the things that are in desktop and use the terminal using CTRL+ALT+T. i've tried to make specific distribution page, downloading the legacy driver from AMD, and another thing: when i had 12.04 jockey told me that i could install some drivers, i had trouble, but that doesn't matter. now, the option to install drivers doesn't tell me about any drivers, i mean, its blank. At the moment i'm using the free drivers (Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880M. is there any alternative ? or i'll have to live with the free drivers ? Thanks a lot ! I KNOW I HAVE TO INSTALL LEGACY DRIVERS, I'VE INSTALLED THEM, THEY DON'T WORK.

• Why doesn't Unity 3D work on my HD3000 integrated graphics?

  So I got my new laptop recently. HP Envy 15 with switchable graphics card. I'm using both windows and ubuntu, but for ubuntu I need just Intel HD3000 for better battery live. I've installed fglrx-updates and fglrx-amdcccle-updates. The drivers seems to work for my ATI card. The problem is, Intel HD3000 does not support Unity 3D. Why? • Computer crashing after a few minutes of logging in

  I have a fresh install of 12.04.1 on my machine. It is constantly crashing after logging in. I noticed it crashed repeatedly when using Minitube and would crash in Chrome. It seems to be that anything graphics related is causing it? I've booted the system 7 times and each time it would crash within 5-10 minutes after logging in.   I have an AMD A6-3400m. When installing ubuntu 12.10 the CPU gets too hot. When I go to see the cpu usage not see anything unusual. I think she is working at or above the specifications of the cpu. I can not finish the installation because the notebook warms both the system disarms and the cooler is maximum. Do not know if it's just me but I never had a good experience using Linux on AMD. When I used Intel these problems did not happen. What is happening can? Ps: The laptop works perfectly in Windows 7 Home Premium 64. No crashes, no overheat, simply works.

  I have been trying to install ubuntu along windows but failed. the issue is that I get a graphical glitch with the colours of the ubuntu loading screen while installing from usb and no progress is made, the pc freezes. And I've got it all in the tower. I put in power supply, installed processor on motherboard, installed heatsink, put in ram, and I am using an older IDE hard disk. When I start the computer, the monitor tells me "check signal cable." As far as I can tell, the heatsink on the processor is spinning, the power supply is on (obviously), and the green LED on the motherboard is on. I originally only had the bigger output plugged in to the motherboard (what I saw in a YouTube vid as well as the mobo instructions), but after doing some research, it said plug in the other ATX power supply. Which I did. And trying to power the computer results in nothing. No beeps on startup, no post, anyone have any ideas? Your ideas and help is greatly appreciated.

• bootmgr image is corrupt

  I just replaced my HD with a SSD. I did a brand new install on the SSD and I received the following error after booting BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot. A little configuration for your knowledge. The system used to be a dual boot with XP & windows 7. After replacing the original startup HD with my SSD I changed a setting in the bios to AHCI (I have tested changing it back but this did not help). When I look at the stats on the drive in the bios, it claims that the SSD is in a raid configuration despite the settings not being configured that way. Related System Information: Intel 320 Series 80 GB Sata II SSD JetWay JPA78VM3-H-LF AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 7 GB ram I have performed 2 fresh installs to no avail. Also, followed this guide and performed option 1 and 2. I have done bootsec/fixmbr and /fixboot. So.. any suggestions?

• New build won't boot: some fans turning, no beep or video

  When my new system is powered up, the case fan and power supply fans turn fine. The CPU fan twitches, but never gets going. Although I've heard that with AMDs and Gigabyte motherboards that is not necessary a problem. Hard drive is spinning. However, there is absolutely no indication that anything else is happening. The motherboard, as far as I can tell, does not have an internal speaker, but I harvested one from another machine and plugged it in and still no beeps at all. The monitor screen stays black, on both the integrated VGA and DVI. This is a brand new build, and has never successfully booted. I have tried the absolute minimum I can think of (power supply into motherboard, power button ONLY plugged into front panel, CPU fan plugged in), with no difference. I appreciate any ideas anyone might have. Do I need to RMA the motherboard? This is my first build, so there might be something obvious. I was very careful in assembly with static; I'm confident nothing was zapped during assembly.

• How do I diagnose the cause of a freeze after resuming in Windows XP (SP3)?

  I have just built a new computer from parts. Whenever I resume from any sleep mode (S1, S3 or S4) the computer freezes within about 60 seconds of the welcome screen appearing. I have updated the BIOS and all drivers to current from the motherboard manufacturer's site. I have reset BIOS settings to default, including disabling AMD Cool n Quiet. The windows event logs are not helpful at all. Other than immediately after resuming the system is stable as long as AMD CnQ is disabled. The system is: Mobo : MSI 790GX-G65 CPU : AMD Phenom II 965 BE at 3.6 GHz Memory : Corsair DDR3 1600, at 1333 MHz and 9-9-9-21 HDDs : 1 EIDE, 2 SATA in RAID-0 DVD : 1 Card Reader: 1 multi-card reader Keyboard is attached via PS2 and mouse is USB. Any thoughts or pointers would be most welcome. EDIT: It appears that the computer may not freeze if a program is left running which puts it under significant load. I left a stress test running which keeps all cores under 85% load, and my son put the computer to sleep - while this program is running it I have been able to resume from S3 successfully 4 times, compared against about 20 tests with the computer idle which have all frozen. So this may be related to being in an idle state when it resumes.

• Windows 7 hangs after going into sleep a second time

  I've searched everywhere around Google and can't figure out why this is happening so I decide to ask here to see if anyone has a problem like this. Like it says in the title, whenever I sleep ONCE I'm able to wake the system, but going back to sleep again AFTER waking up for the first time results in it hanging on no input and no output, with the fan spinning as fast as possible and alot of heat being spewed out by the fan as well. I've tried various things like setting all USB Hub Root's to not get switched off for power saving, disabling USB selective suspend, disabling PCI-e link state power management, and even unplugging ALL USB devices and it wont wake up after the second attempt. And I've even waited up to a full hour of the CPU fan spinning loudly and it's still stuck trying to wake up. The only USB devices I use are a Microsoft USB Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 (IntelliType Pro) and a generic HID compliant mouse from Creative model number OMC90S "CREATIVE MOUSE OPTICAL LITE". My other devices like external drives and controllers are unplugged when I'm not using them as having too many USB devices plugged in at a time causes a deadlock on almost all of the ports I have. Here's my system specifications (Most of these are from CPU-Z): Brand: Gateway DX4300-19 Mainboard: Gateway RS780 Chipset: AMD 780G Rev 00 Southbridge: AMD SB700 Rev 00 LPCIO: ITE IT8718 BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. ver P01-A4 09/15/2009 CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 810 at 2.60 GHz RAM: 8.0 GB DDR2 Dual Channel Ganged Mode at 400 MHz GPU: ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics Intergrated - RS780 OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM (Acer Group) HDD: WDC WD10EADS-22M2B0 1.0 TB (Western Digital Green Caviar) My BIOS has absolutely no control over how I setup the sleep mode to be either S1 or S3. So I can't check these settings or even change them. Hybrid sleep is also disabled, I can successfully go into hibernation and wake from hibernation but this is painfully slow due to a harddrive problem I'm having with this "Green Drive". (Hibernation takes over ~3 minutes to complete) Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

• CPU operating temperature ranges

  I have an AMD Phenom II 960T with 2 cores unlocked for a total of 6 cores. I don't overclock at all. I have a Arctic Cooling ACALP64 Heatsink/Fan installed. I'm currently running ESXi 5.0 so I have to go into the BIOS to read the CPU temperatures, which at idle seem to be in the 71-74C range. To me, this is pretty high, but I cannot find any official temperature ranges that AMD says the CPU can work well within. There seems to be a lot of questions on superuser and numerous forums around CPU temperatures but no one seems to have a clear consensus as to what the manufacturer temperature ranges are for specific CPUs. I've tried searching through AMDs site to no avail. At this point, I'd be willing to shut off the 2 extra cores if it keeps the heat down but until I get some sort of tolerance or range for temperature, I have no idea if the CPU is being damaged or not. Can anyone point to a direct source, article, FAQ from AMD that specifically states their CPUs temperature range? Or are CPU temperature ranges so varying that there's no possible baseline? Am I being too paranoid about this? To me, anything over 65C is a bit much and if I'm in the low-mid 70s range with NO VMs running, what can I expect if I have several VMs running?

I want to see what it's reading and writing in the file, so I want to convert it's binary read and write to non-binary read and write. Also, when I convert the binary write to non-binary write, I want it to still be able to read in the information correctly. How can this be done? I figured out that this is 100/2 = 50. b. If the record has a 68% probability of being in the file, how many comparisons are required on average? This is the part I'm having trouble with. At first I thought it was 68% * 50, but then realized that was wrong after thinking about it. Then I thought it was (100% - 68%) * 50, but I still feel that that is wrong. Any hints?

This site does not allow you to specify a B-tree of order 4 (4 pointers and 3 elements), it only lets you specify B-trees with an even number of elements. Also, if possible, I'd like to be able to insert letters instead of numbers. I think I actually found a different site but that was a while ago and can't find it anymore.
