  • how to copy sql server database on same server

    I've got a SQL Server 2008 and want to make a copy of a database so I've got a 2nd Version of the database for testing on the same server. The database copy wizard is not able to copy the database, it always sends funny error Messages about missing objects (using SMO copy). When I try to make a backup and restore it under a different database name it still keeps the file names of the original database and overrides this (crashing the original database). So how do I copy a SQL database? Shutdown SQL Server, copy the physical files and attach them? Maybe a command line tool for database copy? Shouldn't there be an easy way to make a copy?

  • Crond offset five minute schedule

    Is it possible to offset a cron script set to run every 5 minutes? I have two scripts, script 1 collects some data from one database and inserts it into another, script 2 pulls out this data and a lot of other data and creates some pretty reports from it. Both scripts need to run every 5 minutes. I want to offset script 2 by one minute so that it can create a report from the new data. E.G. I want script one to run at :00, :05, :10, :15 [...] and script two to run at :01, :06, :11, :16 [...] every hour. The scripts are not dependent on each other, and script 2 must run regardless of whether script one was successful or not. But it would be useful if the reports could have hte latest data. Is this possible with cron? Post; I have thought about using both commands in a shell script so they run immediately after each other but this wouldn't work, sometimes script 1 can get hung up on waiting for external APIs etc. so might take up to 15 mins to run, but script 2 must run every 5 minutes so doing it this way would stop/delay the execution of script 2. If I could set this in Cron it would mean script 2 would run regardless of what script 1 was doing

  • How to see whats taking up space on your hard drive

    Im thinking of switching to one of the macbook pro retinas with a 256gb ssd, im making the move from a 512gb hd, which at the moment is split into a 60bg windows partition (which i dont think im going to have on my new machine) and a 440gb main partition of the main partition ive got 140gb free. So all in if i disregard the 60gb windows part ive got about 200gb free so im using 300gb, which is still a bit to much, ive had this machine 4/5 yrs so its likely to be clogged with files that i no longer need, is there a tool that i can use to view my current hd and see whats taking up the most room, so i can begin to see where i can cut down ? just for a bit of background my current machine runs osx.

  • Can't run .net software on Samsung Omnia Pro B7330

    I've got a Samsung Omnia Pro B7330, and am unable to run any program for .net compact framework on it. My last three Smartphones had been HTC brand, and all the programs I tried are just simple winform apps, which ran on all HTC phones. But not on the Omnia. Whenever I try to start an app, I get an "unexpected error" / "NotSupportedException" at: Microsoft.AGL.Common.MISC.HandleArt() System.Windows.Forms.Control._InitInstalce() System.Windows.Forms.Control..ctor() System.Windows.Forms.Button..ctor() MyApp.InitializeComponents() The proper compact framework 2.0 is already installed in the rom, installing CF 3.5 didn't change anything. Anyone can tell me whats the problem with this phone?

  • Filter data in sheets from a master sheet

    I have a 'master sheet' with lots of furniture data in it, in column A there are the suppliers names. What I would like is to be able to have my master sheet with all the info and then sub sheets named by supplier; in these sub sheets I would like to reference the master sheet and pull out all of the items that are from that supplier. For example: I would have a sheet called 'Ikea' which would look in the master sheet and search the A column for all entries of 'Ikea'. If present, copy or reference that row 1:12 in the 'ikea' sheet. I would like to do it all dynamically using references rather than copying the data. Also, I would like it to auto update rather than having to run a macro to recalculate it each time. Can this be done with formulars rather than macros?

  • External hard drive is recognized but not mounted in OS X

    My external HD got unplugged without ejecting and my Mac will no longer mount the drive, but it recognizes it's there. I already tried repairing the disk in Disk Utility, and erasing it in Disk Utility, and it still won't mount. I can't imagine the hardware is actually damaged otherwise it wouldn't even recognize it (Right?). Is there any other software solution I can try? Recovering my files is not a concern.

CPU2 Status: Processor sensors for CPU2, IERR was deasserted I've Googled it, random forum posts aren't providing me with a clear answer. It's also apparently not a word: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/deassert?s=t I can guess the meaning. Assert: to state with assurance, confidence, or force Okay. So the negative of that. The state of lack-of-confidence? What is this error message trying to tell me? Memory errors were grouped with this one: is it trying to say that IERR for CPU2 should be set, but is not? That the current system state is SNAFU but CPU2 sees everything as fine?

    I'd like to change the title of a terminal window during a long running command (for example: git svn fetch) with values greped from the output, whilst still writing to standard output. Is this possible using named pipes or tee and xargs?   • Sending from alternative addresses in Exchange

    One of the most frequent requests I get from users with Exchange, is to be able to send from one of their alternative email addresses, that is one of the addreses there account is configured with in Exchange, but that is not their primary address. Unfortuantely as far as I am aware Microsoft have not yet come up with a solution to this. I've used a number of hacks to get round this, sepearate accounts with POP3 access, Using the from field in outlook, but each have there draw back. What have you used in these situations to allow the use of these alternative addresses?

  • Excel 2007: Filtering out rows in a table based on a list

    I have a large table that looks like this: ID String 1 abcde 2 defgh 3 defgh 4 defgh 5 ijkl 6 ijkl 7 mnop 8 qrst I want to selectivley hide rows by populating a list of filterd values. For example, I'd like to filter out (hide) all rows that contain 'ef', 'kl', and 'qr'. Is there an easy way to do this? I know how to use Advanced filters to include only the rows that contain those substrings, but not the inverse. Has anyone does this before?

  • Multiple users writing to one Samba mount point in OSX

    I have an OSX box containing a script which writes a unique file to a Samba share. The first part of the script mounts the share. On the machine are 2 users- UserA and UserB. Each requires to run this script at any given time however only the user who mounted the share is able to write to it. I really need both users to have rwx access. Here is what I have tried: Mounting then chmod'ing the mountpoint (no effect- overruled by Samba server?) chmod'ing the mountpoint then mounting (same as above) sudo mount_smbfs Both users have admin privileges. Ideally a solution would be executable by one of the users (contained in the script) and not rely on mounting at machine boot time. Any ideas appreciated, thanks!

Now I have three question 1)my internet speed is very low, for re-installing I have to download all of the OS X 10.8 from internet? or I can download it and install it via USB port?(how??) 2)I have to select this option ? "re-install OS X" , and what about size of that?   • How can I view a PDF in Firefox when the server specifies the wrong content type?

    I am using Mozilla Firefox with a PDF viewer plug-in. The plug-in has been correctly associated with Adobe Reader files to view them in the browser in the settings. I would like to be able to view PDF files in Firefox rather than downloading them. This already works correctly when a web server indicates that a file has the Content-Type of application/pdf. However, some web servers provide other Content-Types for PDFs, such as application/octet-stream. (See this example of a PDF served with a non-pdf Content-Type.) I have looked at Firefox's MimeTypes.rdf file, and it appears to only support mapping applications based on file types for non-Internet-based files. How can I have Firefox view all PDF documents in-browser rather than only the ones with the application/pdf Content-Type?

  • Rejecting new HTTP requests when server reaches a certain throughput

    I have a requirement to run an HTTP server that rejects new HTTP requests (with a 503, or similar) when the global transfer rate of current HTTP responses exceeds a certain level. For example, if the web server is transferring at 98Mbps, and a new HTTP request arrives, we would want to reject this (as we couldn't guarantee a good speed). I've had a look at mod_cband for Apache, limit_req for nginx, and lighttpd's rate limiting features, but none of them seem to handle my (rather contrived, granted) use case. I should add that I'm open to using pretty much any web server, and am open to implementing this in iptables rules if someone can craft such a rule! (Refusing the TCP connection is fine, it doesn't have to respond with an HTTP 503). Any suggestions?

  • External HDD incorrectly detected as internal - how change to enable hot swap/eject?

    Hi All, I have win 7 x64 Home Prem. The HDD is a seagate barracuda, 7200.7 ST3120827AS. 3.5", Serial: 3ms006n6, Firmware: 3.42 (no further updates) NexStar CX External case (drivers installed). I have three drives: WD320 with OS installed WD750 data storage (internal) seagate 120 (external) - connected via esata board connected to sata on motherboard (MSI p43 neo) Tried uninstalling HDD in device manager to no effect. Also the internal WD750 is detected as an external drive and win taskbar icon allows for it to be ejected (unlike the seagate). All drives are configured - Online, Simple, Basic, NTFS, Active, Primary Partition (except c drive). The seagate was previously used as a primary disk with XP operating system so I deleted the volume and created/reformatted (not quick). HDD is no longer "Active". But did not fix problem. Background Originally, I installed win 7 with the bios set to IDE and forgot to install the chipset drivers. Then I changed win 7 to install the AHCI drivers, changed the bios to AHCI and rebooted. Win 7 loaded drivers but WD HDD gave problems/crashed. I installed chipset drivers and latest intell storage matrix software thingie (in safe mode). Everything worked fine after that except for the problem of not corrrectly detecting the external drive] I have noticed that under the driver properties (and similarly in the registry) the two drives are configured differently (e.g. in driver details property capabilities for the WD the value is set to 0000006, CM_DEVCAP_REMOVABLE & EJECTSUPPORTED - whereas the seagate shows 0000080 & CM_DEVCAP_SURPRISEREMOVALOK). Any easy way to configure things?   • sys.dm_exec_query_stats interaction with recompilation

    We use sys.dm_exec_query_stats to track down slow queries and queries that are IO offenders. This works great, we get a lot of very insightful stats. It is clear this is not as accurate as running a profiler trace, as you have no idea when SQL Server will decide to chuck out a an execution plan. We have quite a few queries where the wrong execution plan is cached. For example queries like the following: SELECT TOP 30 a.Id FROM Posts a JOIN Posts q ON q.Id = a.ParentId JOIN PostTags pt ON q.Id = pt.PostId WHERE a.PostTypeId = 2 AND a.DeletionDate IS NULL AND a.CommunityOwnedDate IS NULL AND a.CreationDate @date AND LEN(a.Body) 300 AND pt.Tag = @tag AND a.Score 0 ORDER BY a.Score DESC The problem is that the ideal plan really depends on the date selected (screenshot of ideal plan): However if the wrong plan is cached, it totally chokes when the date range is big: (notice the big fat lines) To overcome this we were recommended to use either OPTION (OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN) or OPTION (RECOMPILE) OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN results in a slightly better plan, which is far from optimal. Executions are tracked in sys.dm_exec_query_stats. RECOMPILE results in the best plan being chosen, however no execution counts and stats are tracked in sys.dm_exec_query_stats. Is there another DMV we could use to track stats on queries with OPTION (RECOMPILE)? Is this behavior by-design? Is there another way we can for recompilation while keeping stats tracked in sys.dm_exec_query_stats? Note: the framework will always execute parameterized queries using sp_executesql

    When SQL Server builds a fulltext index computer resources are consumed (IO/Memory/CPU) Similarly when you perform full text searches, resources are consumed. How can I get a gauge over a 24 hour period of the exact amount of CPU and IO(reads/writes) that fulltext is responsible for, in relation to global SQL Server resource usage. Are there any perfmon counters, DMVs or profiler traces I can use to help answer this question?

  • Excel chart won't update, based on calculated cells

    I have an Excel document (2007) with a chart (Clustered Column) that gets its Data Series from cells containing calculated values The calculated values never change directly, but only as a result of other cells in the sheet changing When I change other cells in the sheet, the Data Series cells are recalculated, and show new values - but the Chart based on this Data Series refuses to update automatically I can get the Chart to update by saving/closing, or toggling one of the settings (such as reversing x/y axis and then putting it back), or by re-selecting the Data Series Every solution I have found online doesn't work - I have Calculation set to automatic - Ctrl+Alt+F9 updates everything fine, EXCEPT the chart - I have recreated the chart several times, and on different computers - I have tried VBA scripts like: Application.Calculate Application.CalculateFull Application.CalculateFullRebuild ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll DoEvents None of these update or refresh the chart I do notice that if I type over my Data Series, actual numbers instead of calculations, it will update the chart - it's as if Excel doesn't want to recognize changes in the calculations Has anyone experienced this before or know what I might do to fix the problem?   • Is it possible to use Linux to route between my office (which uses IPSec) and home network?

    First of all, apologies if this seems vague - I'm not an admin of anything more than a home network. I have a Ubuntu box sitting on my network which does various odd tasks for me - svn serving, some file serving, Apache/MySQL/PHP which is all raring to go. I've started a new job and at the moment I'm using ShrewSoft VPN software to establish a VPN link to the office as I need it. I'd prefer to have something always running on my home network just for convenience. My home modem/router doesn't support holding a VPN connection open. What I would like to do is set up my Linux box to hold open a VPN connection to my office and keep it open permanently, and then all applicable traffic for the office be routed through this box. I'm not sure if this is possible, or how to configure the routing on the desktop PCs (Windows 7). Would appreciate any guides, etc that could help me out.

  • Blackberry Access to Powered Down Exchange

    I work with a company (it's more of a charity really) who have a single Exchange Server, with a few Blackberry users, who download emails via POP3 or IMAP. They are in a developing country and so every night they turn off the Exchange server to save power. However, they now want the Blackberry users to be able to get mail at night. They have a Linux server (a rented VPS), so they are considering having the mail delivered here and then pulling this mail via a POP connector into Exchange. Therefore at night, the BES users (who will now be pulling their POP email from the Linux server) can still get their mail. Can anyone think of a better solution to this problem that I may have missed? Unfortunately there is no convincing the company to leave the machine on overnight.

  • Linux - Block ssh users from accessing other machines on the network

    I have set up a virtual machine on my network for uni project development. I have 6 team members and I don't want them to SSH in and start sniffing my network traffic. I already have set the firewall on my W7 pcs to ignore any connection attempts from the Virtual Machine, but would like to go a step further and not allow any network access from the VM to other machines on my network. Team members will be access the VM by SSH. The only external port forwarded is to vm:22. The VM is running in VirtualBox on a bridged network connection. Running latest Debian. If someone could tell me how to do this I would be much obliged.

  • HAProxy and Intermediate SSL Certificate Issue

    We are currently experiencing an issue with verifying a Comodo SSL certificate on an Ubuntu AWS cluster. Browsers are displaying the site/content fine and showing all the relevant certificate information (at least, all the ones we've checked), but certain network proxies and the online SSL checkers are showing we have an incomplete chain. We have tried the following to try to resolve this: Upgraded haproxy to the latest 1.5.3 Created a concatenated ".pem" file containing all the certificate (site, intermediate, w/ and w/out root) Added an explicit "ca-file" attribute to the "bind" line in our haproxy.cfg file. The ".pem" file verifies OK using openssl. The various intermediate and root certificates are installed and showing in /etc/ssl/certs. But the checks still come back with an incomplete chain. Can anyone advise about anything else we can check or any other changes we can make to try to fix this? Many thanks in advance... UPDATE: The only relevant line from the haproxy.cfg (I believe), is this one: bind *:443 ssl crt /etc/ssl/domainaname.com.pem
