  • VS2010 final does only link project on "rebuild all", not on "build changed"

    - by Sam
I've just migrated a solution containing c++ and c# projects from VS2008 to VS2010 and got a strange problem. When I select "rebuild all", everything compiles and links as I would expect it to do. Then I change some c++ source file (just add a space), build the project, I get several thousands of linking errors like these: GDlgPackerListe.obj : error LNK2028: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A0000C7) ""public: bool __thiscall LList::Add(class LBString const &)" (?Add@LList@@$$FQAE_NABVLBString@@@Z)", auf das in Funktion ""public: virtual void __thiscall LRcPackerListe::HookRunReport(class LFortschritt &)" (?HookRunReport@LRcPackerListe@@$$FUAEXAAVLFortschritt@@@Z)" verwiesen wird. Db_Lieferschein2.obj : error LNK2020: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A0000E6) "public: bool __thiscall LList::Add(class LBString const &)" (?Add@LList@@$$FQAE_NABVLBString@@@Z). bmed.obj : error LNK2028: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A00014D) ""public: bool __thiscall LList::Add(class LBString const &)" (?Add@LList@@$$FQAE_NABVLBString@@@Z)", auf das in Funktion ""public: virtual long __thiscall MENUKB::Methode(long,long)" (?Methode@MENUKB@@$$FUAEJJJ@Z)" verwiesen wird. GDlgPackerListe.obj : error LNK2028: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A0000C9) ""public: void __thiscall LList::Sort(void)" (?Sort@LList@@$$FQAEXXZ)", auf das in Funktion ""public: virtual void __thiscall LRcPackerListe::HookRunReport(class LFortschritt &)" (?HookRunReport@LRcPackerListe@@$$FUAEXAAVLFortschritt@@@Z)" verwiesen wird. Dlg_Gutschrift.obj : error LNK2020: Nicht aufgelöstes Token (0A000128) "public: virtual __thiscall LBaseType::~LBaseType(void)" (??1LBaseType@@$$FUAE@XZ). Module_Damals.lib(svSuchAltLink.obj) : error LNK2001: Nicht aufgelöstes externes Symbol ""public: __thiscall SView::SView(void)" (??0SView@@QAE@XZ)". Module_Damals.lib(svShowEMF.obj) : error LNK2001: Nicht aufgelöstes externes Symbol ""public: virtual void __thiscall SView::HookValueChanged(unsigned __int64)" (?HookValueChanged@SView@@UAEX_K@Z)". When I hit "rebuild all" it recompiles and links without any errors or even warnings and produces a working exe. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 final (german edition). Whats going on here? Or, more important: how do I get the linker to work correctly??

  • Recommended migration strategy for C++ project in Visual Studio 6

    - by jacobsee
For a large application written in C++ using Visual Studio 6, what is the best way to move into the modern era? I'd like to take an incremental approach where we slowly move portions of the code and write new features into C# for example and compile that into a library or dll that can be referenced from the legacy application. Is this possible and what is the best way to do it?

  • Using custom .jar's in your java project

    - by Aidan
Hi guys, I'm importing from two jar's twitter4j-2.0.10.jar and mysql-connector-java-5.1.10-bin.jar, I'm running the code on a server but it's not letting me. I get a.. Streamer.java:9: package twitter4j does not exist import twitter4j.StatusDeletionNotice; ^ error when compiling. I know this has something to do with getting java to recognise my custom jar's but I don't know how to get java to "see" them. Any ideas?

  • How to autodoc .Net Google code projects?

    - by Remus Rusanu
I know how to generate html documentation using Sandcastle and similar tools. But if I want to host the project on Google code, how can I easily publish the documentation straight into the Google project Wiki pages? I can see the SVN repository has a wiki folder which I assume maps to the project Wiki pages and I guess I can make a build step to build the documentation from the autodoc tags. But is there some tool that generates wiki compatible format from the code documentation tags?

  • Android import project errors

    - by Jsmith102
Hey everyone, I'm a beginner, so I'll try my best to explain this problem succinctly. Basically, a friend of mine and I were playing around with the Android SDK, editing a simple RSS reader. We could launch it in the emulator and even install it on our real devices. Fast forward a few days, I'm trying to import the exact same code that was working a few days earlier into Eclipse on my laptop. I tried both importing and new project from existing source. Both return these new errors that we never had originally. I got an error that involved the auto generated "R" file, but I have solved this. Now, I'm getting 3 errors that I have never had before - The method onClick(View) of type new View.OnClickListener(){} must override a superclass method - displayed twice ( 2 different lines) The method onTabChanged(String) of type new TabHost.OnTabChangeListener(){} must override a superclass method My question is this - What would cause the these discrepancies between importing/running on my friends computer and mine? Also, we are both using the latest version of Java/Eclipse Thanks in advance for any insight.

Can u help me to re-write it with AnyEvent. I tried but my code didn't work. I read that it will help me to safe some memory. Thanks a lot to any helpers.

  • Rails 3 HABTM Strange Association: Project and Employee in a tree.

    - by Mauricio
Hi guys I have to adapt an existing model to a new relation. I have this: A Project has many Employees. the Employees of a Project are organized in some kind of hierarchy (nothing fancy, I resolved this adding a parent_id for each employee to build the 'tree') class Employee < AR:Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :parent, :class_name => 'Employee' has_many :childs, :class_name => 'Employee', :foreign_column => 'parent_id' end class Project < AR:Base has_many :employees, end That worked like a charm, now the new requirement is: The Employees can belong to many Projects at the same time, and the hierarchy will be different according to the project. So I though I will need a new table to build the HABTM, and a new class to access the parent_id to build the tree. Something like class ProjectEmployee < AR:Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :employee belongs_to :parent, :class_name => 'Employee' # <--- ?????? end class Project < AR:Base has_many :project_employee has_many :employees, :through => :project_employee end class Employee < AR:Base has_many :project_employee has_many :projects, :through => :project_employee end How can I access the parent and the childs of an employee for a given project? I need to add and remove childs as wish from the employees of a project. Thank you!

  • Trying to link my project with Boost.Thread using CMake

When I link Boost.Thread to my boost_test executable, it gives me make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib64/libboost_thread-mt.so', needed by `gogo/test/test_boost'. Stop. when I make it. Here's the offending CMake code, what am I doing wrong? add_executable(boost_test boost_test.cpp) add_test(boost_test boost_test) # Boost auto-links for MSVC, so we exclude it. if(CMAKE_COMPILER_IS_GNUCXX) target_link_libraries(test_boost #LINK_INTERFACE_LIBRARIES ${Boost_THREAD_LIBRARY} ) endif()

  • Using pragma once in a C++ project in Xcode 4

    - by Nils
I know that #pragma once is non-standard, however it is supported by most compilers. So on my Mac I can compile C++ code with headers that use #pragma once on the command line using clang++. The strange thing however is that it does not seem to work within Xcode. I get Invalid preprocessing directive when I try to use #pragma once. I am using the newest version of OSX (10.8.2) and Xcode (Version 4.5.1 (4G1004)).

  • Build system for multi-language project

    - by Epcylon
I am getting ready to embark on a project mainly for experimenting with languages, but also with a hint of usefulness. It will consist of a server-application, written in Erlang, and client-libraries in a number of languages. Initially I will want to write clients in Java, Ruby and Python. The actual protocol for communication will be Thrift. I'm looking for a build system that will allow me to build the server and all the client libraries in one go, running unit-tests in each language, then packaging up a releasable artifact of some sort in whatever way is the "standard" for each language. That means a Jar for Java, a RubyGem and a distribute/setuptools tarball for Python. Erlang probably has something too, but I'm not yet familiar with that. It should also be able to run the Thrift compiler to generate the various Thrift-stubs in each language. On the pad at the start is Maven. I'm fairly certain Maven can do all I need, but I fear it's too Java-centric, and leaves me with a ton of work for every new language I need to add.

  • Why can’t I create a database in an empty ASP MVC 2 project using Project->Add->New Item->SQL Server

    - by Dr Dork
I'm diving head first into ASP MVC and am playing around with creating and manipulating a database. I did a search and found this tutorial for creating a database, however when I follow it, I get this error right at the start when trying to add a new database to my fresh, empty ASP MVC 2 project... A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) The only requirement the tutorial mentioned was SQL Server Express, but when I went to download it, it said it was already installed. I'm assuming it was part of the VS 2010 RC I installed and am running. So I don't know what else I need if I am missing something. This is all new to me, so I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here and after I'm done posting this question, I plan to do some more research into the topic of databases and how they work with ASP MVC. In the meantime, I was you could help me answer a couple high level questions... What am I missing/forgetting to do that is causing this error? Any suggestions for good resources/tutorials that focus on using databases with ASP MVC? I've done a lot of database programming in the past, so I'm familiar with the concepts of relational databases and the SQL language. I wish I could find a good resource for learning how to work with them in an ASP dev environment, as well as a good breakdown of all the related technologies used for working with them (i.e. LINQ to SQL). Thanks so much in advance for all your help! I'm going to start researching these questions right now.

  • Starting a personal reuasable code repository.

    - by Rob Stevenson-Leggett
Hi, I've been meaning to start a library of reusable code snippets for a while and never seem to get round to it. At the moment I just tend to have some transient classes/files that I drag out of old projects. I think my main problems are: Where to start. What structure should my repository take? Should it be a compiled library (where appropriate) or just classes/files I can drop into any project? Or a library project that can be included? What are the licencing implications of that? In my experience, a built/minified library will quickly become out of date and the source will get lost. So I'm leaning towards source that I can export from SVN and include in any project. Intellectual property. I am employeed, so a lot of the code I write is not my IP. How can I ensure that I don't give my own IP away using it on projects in work and at home? I'm thinking the best way would be to licence my library with an open source licence and make sure I only add to it in my own time using my own equipment and therefore making sure that if I use it in a work project the same rules apply as if I was using a third party library. I write in many different languages and often would require two or more parts of this library. Should I look at implementing a few template projects and a core project for each of my chosen reusable components and languages? Has anyone else got this sort of library and how do you organise and update it?

  • Visual Studio swapping code between projects?!?!?!?!??!

    - by Tom
Are there any known issues with visual studio and code being swapped between projects? I had a project running in VS2008 and when i went back to it, the code from another project had been swapped in the Program.cs class. I havent made any mistakes, im not talking about some code- i mean the whole project had been swapped out. Its as if the .proj files or .soln files had been swapped from their project folders??? EDIT Ive restarted laptop, opened the code again and its still showing the wrong code BUT when i execute it, its the right code?!?!?!

  • How do I branch if message.properties-code exists

I want to branch if a message-property-code does exist or not. <g:if test="${message(code: 'default.code.foo')}"> true </g:if><g:else> false </g:else> should answer true if there a message property named default.code.foo and false if not. It fails because it answers the code if there is no property for it.

  • Did anyone created the Java Code Formatter Profile for Eclipse IDE that conforms to the Android Code

    - by yvolk
Android Code Style Guide defines "Android Code Style Rules". To conform to these rules one have to change quite a number of settings of the Java Code Formatter (Window-Preferences-Java-Formatter) default profile (in Eclipse IDE). Did anyone managed to configure the formatter to follow the "Android Code Style Rules" already? PS: I've tried to do this myself but I've found that there are too many formatter options available, and most of them are not mentioned in the Code Style Guide :-(

  • Valid JavaScript code that is NOT valid ActionScript 3.0 code?

    - by knorv
Most JavaScript code is also syntactically valid ActionScript 3.0 code. However, there are exceptions which leads me to my question: Which constructs/features in JavaScript are syntactically invalid in ActionScript 3.0? Please provide concrete examples of JavaScript code (basic JavaScript code without DOM API usage) that is NOT valid ActionScript 3.0 code.

  • what is the wrong with this spec and controller code?

    - by user1609468
I'm trying to test an existing rails project with rspec. And I want to test a controller but getting an error which I can't solve :S Here is the my spec code ; require 'spec_helper' describe BriefNotesController do before(:all) do @customer=Factory(:customer) @project=Factory(:project_started, :owner => @customer) end context 'get :new' do it 'should redirect to login page for not signed in users' do get :new, :project_id => @project.id response.should redirect_to("/kullanici-girisi") end it 'should be success and render new brief note page for project owner' do sign_in @customer get :new, :project_id => @project.id response.should be_success end end end Here is the my controller code ; class BriefNotesController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! before_filter :find_project def new @brief_note = @project.brief_notes.new end def create @brief_note = @project.brief_notes.build(params[:brief_note]) if @brief_note.save redirect_to brief_project_path(@project) else render :action => :new end end private def find_project @project = current_user.projects.find_by_cached_slug([params[:project_id]]) end end I think current_user.projects.find_by_cached_slug method don't work. So this is the error; Failures: 1) BriefNotesController get :new should be success and render new brief note page for project owner Failure/Error: get :new, :project_id => @project.id NoMethodError: undefined method `brief_notes' for nil:NilClass # ./app/controllers/brief_notes_controller.rb:6:in `new' # ./spec/controllers/brief_notes_controller_spec.rb:19:in `block (3 levels) in <top (required)>'

  • Have you ever done a project using a languages that is not the mainstream choice for the specific niche of the project? Why?

    - by EpsilonVector
I was thinking about my academic experience with Smalltalk (well, Squeak) a while ago and whether I would like to use it for something, and it got me thinking: sure, it's as good and capable as any popular language, and it has some nice ideas, but there are certain languages that are already well entrenched in certain niches of programming (C is for systems programming, Java is for portability, and so on...), and Smalltalk and co. don't seem to have any obvious differentiating features to make them the right choice under certain circumstances, or at least not as far as I can tell, and when you add to it the fact that it's harder to find programmers who know it it adds all sorts of other problems for the organization itself. So if you ever worked on a project where a non-mainstream language (like Smalltalk) was used over a more mainstream one, what was the reason for it? To clarify: I'd like to focus this on imperative languages.

  • What is your favorite password storage tool?

    - by Marcel Levy
Aside from personal passwords, I'm always juggling a number of project-specific passwords, including those for network, web and database authentication. Some authentication can be managed with ssh keys and the like, but everywhere I've worked I also faced the need for the management of passwords that need to be available to a number of different people. So what do you use, either for personal or team-based password management? Personally I'd like to hear about cross-platform tools, but I'm sure other people would be satisfied with Windows-only solutions. I know the stackoverflow podcast tackled this issue in #7 and #9, but I'm hoping we can come up with the definitive answer here. Update: Even though this question was asked before its sibling site existed, you should probably add your two cents to the more active question over at superuser, which is a more appropriate venue for this.

  • using Team foundation server

    - by joe
I am using Team foundation server / visual studio as a client, to manage my visual foxpro source code. everytime i "checkout for edit" all my folders and files are read only and when i open my projects, it is like if the project is opened for the first time, asking me if i would like to set the current path as the default path... this is causing other serious problems as bad reference to "missing library files", which are actually not missing. i know Visual foxpro is old stuff...i hope someone who went through the same errors could help me out. thanks a lot guys

    - by Rolnik
At the risk of posing a subjective question... Where/when are you when you come up with your best ideas? How do you enter that 'zen' state? Yes... necessarily these have to be computer ideas and not new ideas how to make waffles (unless it involves a CPU). Some kinds of ideas include: New software project; better way to organize data; What would look slick on the internet; How to break into the Coka-Cola mainframe and steal the Coke formula (just kidding) How about it. How/when do you get a load of inspiration/insight?

  • Mike Cohn-style burndown charts in JIRA

    - by Fuzzy Purple Monkey
We use Jira/Greenhopper for our project planning/tracking. The built-in graphs are great, but when a new issue/story is added during a project, the whole burn-down graph moves up rather than increasing the part of the graph when the issue was added. Ideally I'd like to generate a Mike Cohn-style burndown graph, which shows a hump when new issues are added. Does anyone know of any plugins that support this, or been able to extract this data directly from the database?
