• C# 3.5: Dynamically adding classes without recompiling

  I'd like to build an infrastructure that will monitor a server and check ping, response time, and more. The catch is that future checks (for example: does a certain file exist) will be added without recompiling the infrastructure. How do I build it in such a way that will enable me to attach inherited classes with different functionality, and execute them without recompiling? Thanks!

  Hi, I am trying to create SQL Select that returns counts of a certain field based on a field. So, here is what I am trying to do. Select count(distinct id) as TotalCount, -- this will be the total of id count(distinct id where type='A') as TotalA, -- this will be total when type='A' count(distinct id where type='B') as TotalB -- This will be total when type = 'B' from MyTable Basically, TotalCount = TotalA + TotalB. How can I achieve this in SQL Select Statement? Thanks.

  Hello, Is possible to change hibernate.jdbc.batch_size programmatically? I understand hibernate.jdbc.batch_size is a application level parameter, wanted to know if i can use it specifically for certain HQL inserts and not others. I would change the code only for those HQL inserts The big picture is that i need to introduce batch inserts to make the web application performant in some scenarios, but i do not want to jeopardize the normal inserts which work right now.   A certain function in my controller takes a lot of time to process (heavy db work) . So when my user clicks on "submit" on the form he has to wait for the process to complete which is quite long. • Is 0x9B (155decimal) a special control character? Why is it missing from ascii tables?

  Hi, I'm working on an embedded system, and i'm having dramas getting it to send a certain chunk of data across the serial port. I narrowed it down and found that if a 0x9B is present in the message, it corrupts the message. So i then look up 0x9b (155) on http://www.asciitable.com/, and it's missing! Isn't that a bizarre coincidence! Any ideas, is this a special character or something?

• Windows 7 Missing Shortnames

  I noticed that if you get a Scripting.File object from certain windows files (Example: any wav in C:\Windows\Media) the Scripting.File.ShortPath property shows the long path. Curious I dropped to the command prompt and tried Dir /A /X and sure enough the short paths were missing from all the files in that directory. Anyone know: A.) What that's all about? B.) How to get the short path of a file that doesn't seem to have one?
