  • Windows equalivalent to eth0

    - by Justin Fuller
Is there a generic IP device name for windows similar to "eth0" used by Linux and Solaris? I am attempting to monitor SCTP traffic, which appears to be successful passing the ip address, but this means for every machine to use this application would changing to use the host address. Thanks

  • C# Search for subdirectory (not for files)...

    - by Brad
Every example I see seems to be for recursively getting files in subdirectories uses files only. What I'm trying to do is search a folder for a particular subdirectory named "xxx" then save that path to a variable so I can use it for other things. Is this possible without looping through all the directories and comparing by name?

  • To install Markdown's extensions by Python

    - by Masi
The installation notes (git://gitorious.org/python-markdown/mainline.git) say in the file using_as_module.txt One of the parameters that you can pass is a list of Extensions. Extensions must be available as python modules either within the markdown.extensions package or on your PYTHONPATH with names starting with mdx_, followed by the name of the extension. Thus, extensions=['footnotes'] will first look for the module markdown.extensions.footnotes, then a module named mdx_footnotes. See the documentation specific to the extension you are using for help in specifying configuration settings for that extension. I put the folder "extensions" to ~/bin/python/ such that my PYTHONPATH is the following export PYTHONPATH=/Users/masi/bin/python/:/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/ The instructions say that I need to import the addons such that import markdown import <module-name> However, I cannot see any module in my Python. This suggests me that the extensions are not available as "python modules - - on [my] PYTHONPATH with names starting with mdx_ - -." How can you get Markdown's extensions to work? 2nd attempt I run at ~/bin/markdown git clone git://gitorious.org/python-markdown/mainline.git python-markdown cd python-markdown python setup.py install I put the folder /Users/masi/bin/markdown/python-markdown/build to my PATH because the installation message suggests me that is the new location of the extensions. I have the following in a test markdown -document [TOC] -- headings here with # -format --- However, I do not get the table of contents. This suggests me that we need to somehow activate the extensions when we compile by the markdown.py -script. **The problem returns to my first quoted text which I is rather confusing to me.

  • Working With Extended Events

    - by Fatherjack
SQL Server 2012 has made working with Extended Events (XE) pretty simple when it comes to what sessions you have on your servers and what options you have selected and so forth but if you are like me then you still have some SQL Server instances that are 2008 or 2008 R2. For those servers there is no built-in way to view the Extended Event sessions in SSMS. I keep coming up against the same situations – Where are the xel log files? What events, actions or predicates are set for the events on the server? What sessions are there on the server already? I got tired of this being a perpetual question and wrote some TSQL to save as a snippet in SQL Prompt so that these details are permanently only a couple of clicks away. First, some history. If you just came here for the code skip down a few paragraphs and it’s all there. If you want a little time to reminisce about SQL Server then stick with me through the next paragraph or two. We are in a bit of a cross-over period currently, there are many versions of SQL Server but I would guess that SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 comprise the majority of installations. With each of these comes a set of management tools, of which SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is one. In 2008 and 2008 R2 Extended Events made their first appearance and there was no way to work with them in the SSMS interface. At some point the Extended Events guru Jonathan Kehayias (http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/jonathan/) created the SQL Server 2008 Extended Events SSMS Addin which is really an excellent tool to ease XE session administration. This addin will install in SSMS 2008 or 2008R2 but not SSMS 2012. If you use a compatible version of SSMS then I wholly recommend downloading and using it to make your work with XE much easier. If you have SSMS 2012 installed, and there is no reason not to as it will let you work with all versions of SQL Server, then you cannot install this addin. If you are working with SQL Server 2012 then SSMS 2012 has built in functionality to manage XE sessions – this functionality does not apply for 2008 or 2008 R2 instances though. This means you are somewhat restricted and have to use TSQL to manage XE sessions on older versions of SQL Server. OK, those of you that skipped ahead for the code, you need to start from here: So, you are working with SSMS 2012 but have a SQL Server that is an earlier version that needs an XE session created or you think there is a session created but you aren’t sure, or you know it’s there but can’t remember if it is running and where the output is going. How do you find out? Well, none of the information is hidden as such but it is a bit of a wrangle to locate it and it isn’t a lot of code that is unlikely to remain in your memory. I have created two pieces of code. The first examines the SYS.Server_Event_… management views in combination with the SYS.DM_XE_… management views to give the name of all sessions that exist on the server, regardless of whether they are running or not and two pieces of TSQL code. One piece will alter the state of the session: if the session is running then the code will stop the session if executed and vice versa. The other piece of code will drop the selected session. If the session is running then the code will stop it first. Do not execute the DROP code unless you are sure you have the Create code to hand. It will be dropped from the server without a second chance to change your mind. /**************************************************************/ /***   To locate and describe event sessions on a server    ***/ /***                                                        ***/ /***   Generates TSQL to start/stop/drop sessions           ***/ /***                                                        ***/ /***        Jonathan Allen - @fatherjack                    ***/ /***                 June 2013                                ***/ /***                                                        ***/ /**************************************************************/ SELECT  [EES].[name] AS [Session Name - all sessions] ,         CASE WHEN [MXS].[name] IS NULL THEN ISNULL([MXS].[name], 'Stopped')              ELSE 'Running'         END AS SessionState ,         CASE WHEN [MXS].[name] IS NULL              THEN ISNULL([MXS].[name],                          'ALTER EVENT SESSION [' + [EES].[name]                          + '] ON SERVER STATE = START;')              ELSE 'ALTER EVENT SESSION [' + [EES].[name]                   + '] ON SERVER STATE = STOP;'         END AS ALTER_SessionState ,         CASE WHEN [MXS].[name] IS NULL              THEN ISNULL([MXS].[name],                          'DROP EVENT SESSION [' + [EES].[name]                          + '] ON SERVER; -- This WILL drop the session. It will no longer exist. Don't do it unless you are certain you can recreate it if you need it.')              ELSE 'ALTER EVENT SESSION [' + [EES].[name]                   + '] ON SERVER STATE = STOP; ' + CHAR(10)                   + '-- DROP EVENT SESSION [' + [EES].[name]                   + '] ON SERVER; -- This WILL stop and drop the session. It will no longer exist. Don't do it unless you are certain you can recreate it if you need it.'         END AS DROP_Session FROM    [sys].[server_event_sessions] AS EES         LEFT JOIN [sys].[dm_xe_sessions] AS MXS ON [EES].[name] = [MXS].[name] WHERE   [EES].[name] NOT IN ( 'system_health', 'AlwaysOn_health' ) ORDER BY SessionState GO I have excluded the system_health and AlwaysOn sessions as I don’t want to accidentally execute the drop script for these sessions that are created as part of the SQL Server installation. It is possible to recreate the sessions but that is a whole lot of aggravation I’d rather avoid. The second piece of code gathers details of running XE sessions only and provides information on the Events being collected, any predicates that are set on those events, the actions that are set to be collected, where the collected information is being logged and if that logging is to a file target, where that file is located. /**********************************************/ /***    Running Session summary                ***/ /***                                        ***/ /***    Details key values of XE sessions     ***/ /***    that are in a running state            ***/ /***                                        ***/ /***        Jonathan Allen - @fatherjack    ***/ /***        June 2013                        ***/ /***                                        ***/ /**********************************************/ SELECT  [EES].[name] AS [Session Name - running sessions] ,         [EESE].[name] AS [Event Name] ,         COALESCE([EESE].[predicate], 'unfiltered') AS [Event Predicate Filter(s)] ,         [EESA].[Action] AS [Event Action(s)] ,         [EEST].[Target] AS [Session Target(s)] ,         ISNULL([EESF].[value], 'No file target in use') AS [File_Target_UNC] -- select * FROM    [sys].[server_event_sessions] AS EES         INNER JOIN [sys].[dm_xe_sessions] AS MXS ON [EES].[name] = [MXS].[name]         INNER JOIN [sys].[server_event_session_events] AS [EESE] ON [EES].[event_session_id] = [EESE].[event_session_id]         LEFT JOIN [sys].[server_event_session_fields] AS EESF ON ( [EES].[event_session_id] = [EESF].[event_session_id]                                                               AND [EESF].[name] = 'filename'                                                               )         CROSS APPLY ( SELECT    STUFF(( SELECT  ', ' + sest.name                                         FROM    [sys].[server_event_session_targets]                                                 AS SEST                                         WHERE   [EES].[event_session_id] = [SEST].[event_session_id]                                       FOR                                         XML PATH('')                                       ), 1, 2, '') AS [Target]                     ) AS EEST         CROSS APPLY ( SELECT    STUFF(( SELECT  ', ' + [sesa].NAME                                         FROM    [sys].[server_event_session_actions]                                                 AS sesa                                         WHERE   [sesa].[event_session_id] = [EES].[event_session_id]                                       FOR                                         XML PATH('')                                       ), 1, 2, '') AS [Action]                     ) AS EESA WHERE   [EES].[name] NOT IN ( 'system_health', 'AlwaysOn_health' ) /*Optional to exclude 'out-of-the-box' traces*/ I hope that these scripts are useful to you and I would be obliged if you would keep my name in the script comments. • How to install plugins on Eclipse.

    - by Metz
Hi, i know there already are other questions like this, but i could't find anything useful. And it's becoming such a painful issue.. I was trying to install ObjectAid on Eclipse 3.5.1. So, lets google, http://www.objectaid.com shows up. i added it to the repository list, then checked ObjectAid UML Explorer. It says: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software being installed: ObjectAid Class Diagram 0.9.86 (com.objectaid.uml.feature.group 0.9.86) Missing requirement: ObjectAid Class Diagram 0.9.86 (com.objectaid.uml.feature.group 0.9.86) requires 'org.eclipse.draw2d 0.0.0' I've had a look into /opt/eclipse/plugins and i've found org.eclipse.draw2d_3.5.2.v20091126-1908, but i coudnt figure out how to install it. The operating system is Ubuntu. Thanks for any help.

This is what I did from what ever I learnt.. In my view <% @hello.each do |key, value| %> <li><%=h "#{key.to_s} : #{value.to_s}" %></li> <% end %> This will get the entire thing converted to a list... It works awesome if its just one key.. but how to work with multiple keys and show only the information... something like when it outputs hometown : City, State rather than something like hometown : {"id"=>"115200305133358163", "name"=>"City, State"} Also for education if I just say education[school][name] to display list of schools attended? The error i get is can't convert String into Integer I also tried to do this in my controller, but I get the same error.. @fav_teams = @hello["favorite_teams"]["name"] Also, how can I save all these to the database.. something like just the list of all schools.. not their id no's? Update: The way I plan to save to my database is.. lets say for a user model, i want to save to database as :facebook_id, :facebook_name, :facebook_firstname, ...., :facebook_hometown .. here I only want to save name... when it comes to education.. I want to save.. school, concentration and type.. I have no idea on how to achieve this.. Looking forward for help! thanks!

  • Automate Google Chrome extension installation

    - by gtaborga
Hi everyone, I am working on creating a Google Chrome extension. We have it included in an automated build system and since it is constantly being worked on we need a solution to be able to package the extension as a .crx file which according to http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions/packaging.html can easily be scripted. My question is after packaging the extension is there a known method either through the command-line or some other programmatic way, to install the newly packaged extension in an automated manner? If someone knows how or has any reference material that I can be pointed towards I would greatly appreciate any help that is offered. Thank you.

  • install 64-bit glib2 on 32-bit system for cross-compiling

    - by paleozogt
I'm trying to cross-compile a 64-bit executable on a 32-bit ubuntu system. This works up until linking, where it fails due to the lack of a 64-bit glib2 (libglib-2.0.a). If I were doing this on a 64-bit system, I would use getlibs to install a 32-bit glib2 into /usr/lib32. However, on a 32-bit machine getlibs doesn't seem to do the opposite-- install a 64-bit glib2 into /usr/lib64. My quesiton is: how do I manually do what getlibs should do, that is, install a 64-bit glib2 into /usr/lib64?

  • install make command without already having make (mac os 10.5)

    - by adam n
I'm trying to write a script that uses the make command, but Mac os 10.5 doesn't come with make installed by default, and when you download the make source code from gnu's website, you have to use make itself to compile and install it. which is hard if you don't have it in the first place. How can I install make? (I know you can get make by installing Xcode and the developer tools that come with mac os, but I don't want people to have to go find their mac os install dvds to be able to use the script.) It doesn't even have to be make, i'm just looking for a utility that you can easily download in a script (using ftp or curl) and use to compile source code.

  • Parse error when trying to install app on Asus eee PC 701 running Android 2.0

    - by Don
A beta tester of mine has a Asus eee pc 701 running Android 2.0 and he is trying to install an app on it from my web site. He is able to download the app but is getting a "Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package" error. I don't really know if this problem is with the eee pc or with the apk since he is the first person to try to install it. I built it for 2.0, the manifest has 5 as the minimum API level and I used Eclipse to export and sign it. But this is my first Android app and he is the first to try to install it, so I am not sure what the problem might be? Could just be the Android implementation too. Here is a site about putting Android on the Asus: http://www.liliputing.com/2009/01/how-to-built-google-android-for-the-asus-eee-pc-701.html Any thoughts on what I might try to get this app installed on his machine?

  • installing ruby/gnome2 on ruby1.9

    - by sawa
My purpose is to install ruby/gnome2 and make it work with ruby1.9 on Ubuntu9.10. I already have ruby/gnome2 working with ruby1.8, but I need to make it work with ruby1.9. I also have ruby1.9 working. When I run within ruby-gnome2-all-0.19.3: ruby1.9 extconf.rb it eventually gives me: Target libraries: glib, gdkpixbuf, pango, atk, gtk, gconf, libglade Ignored libraries: gnomeprintui, panel-applet, gtksourceview, gtksourceview2, bonoboui, bonobo, libart, goocanvas, rsvg, gnomeprint, gstreamer, vte, gnomevfs, poppler, gnomecanvas, gtkglext, gnome, gtkmozembed, gtkhtml2 so it seems some packages failed to be installed. When I look for the log for example for the gnomeprintui part, it exits after returning: cheking for libgnomeprinrui-2.2... no but apt-get says I have the newest version of it. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem?

  • Install multiple iPhone apps at once from Xcode to device

    - by Dimitris
Supposing we have an Xcode iPhone project with 2 targets, is it possible to build and install both of them on the device with one click? Of course, I understand we will not be able to "build and run" both, but can we at least install them? And to extend this concept a bit a bit: are there any scripts to achieve the same thing but with multiple iPhone projects instead of multiple targets in one project? This would be useful when you want to load all your apps on a new development device and don't want to go through all your projects one by one and install.

  • Create MSI for slipstream SQL 2008 install

    - by Graham
I am looking at creating an MSI that will check/install the prerequisites of SQL Server 2008 and after the prerequisites are installed I will start my slipstream 2008 install. I am currently trying to do this through VS 2008 Deployment Projects, but I cannot just simple add the folders of the SQL slipstream into the setup project without recreating the entire folder structure of the SQL install. So my questions are: Is this a possible to do through Deployment Projects? (if yes, please assist with links or help) Is there a better way to do this? (I would prefer not to use WISE)
