I am new to flash and learning action script 3.

I need to do this:
(sorry not in javascript syntax-still learning object language :) )
object=car
attibutes:top-speed, brand....
now I want to sort the list of those cars in order by top-speed, brand...
How do I do this (please note the solution must be javascript only, no php or other stuff) ?
When i started learning function in C++ its all around pass by value and reference.
Is there something similar we have in javascript ?
If yes/not how it works in case of javascript?
Thanks all.
I'm learning how to use the ASP.net membership, when a user registers they just create a username and password, however i want to create a page on my website called "profile" where they can fill in extra details such as firstname, lastname, date of birth ect. However i don't see where i can place this in the asp.net membership database. Theres an asp.net_profile table however i'm not sure how this works.
Could someone please explain how i can do this?
I'm interested in learning about algorithms, both conceptually and practically, as a beginner. I want to learn about binary search trees and similar.
What tutorials and example programs, preferably in Python or Java, will help me?
I'm interested in writing a chess engine (mostly as a learning exercise) and would be interested in any resources that people know of that could be of interest or use, anything really: Papers, Books, Theory, Tutorials, anything that could be useful.
This code:
@echo off
echo/|set /p ="Executing backup...."
echo/|set /p =" backup procedure"
... came from Echoing in the same line and produces the below output in a cmd window:
Executing backup....backup procedure
However, I cant seem to find an explanation through google on what the forward slash does to the ¿pipe? to cause set's output to be echoed to the console / stdout
If anyone could also suggest a good website for learning more about cmd / cmd programs' features like this, it would be appreciated.
I am learning objective c and am making some small programs. for my current project i am taking a NSBox and changing it's location based on a random number. How do I change the box's location? With C# it was a simple "box.location = anotherLocation" but I can't figure out how to do this in objective c. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hello everyone
I have been coding procedural php for a while and I feel I got a pretty good hang of it.
I feel like learning something new. Any ideas on what is good/hot to know?
I have read some about zend mvc and it seems interesting, but im not sure..
I feel like procedural php is so unorganized and hard to debug when the project grows big.
help me out thanks
I've only ever learned to "program" with notepad when I was learning to create batch files in Windows.
I would appreciate if you can explain to me the benefits of working with an IDE over a text editor or vice versa. Please don't give emotional responses or argue someone else's suggestion/advice. I use Linux primarily. Also, I would like to be able to make programs that can be used in Windows, but programmed in Linux. Thanks.
Learning the basics of XML for the first time from W3C tutorials. How are most XML files generated? Does the server side application usually print a complete XML file to be parsed each time there is new data?
I have a CGI application in C and it includes the SQLite API. Is the best way to do some sort of printf to a XML file (using my data from the database) so it can be parsed?
Thanks.
I'm trying to use Eclipse + PyDev for studying OpenGL programming but when I type
from OpenGL.GL import *
from OpenGL.GLUT import *
IDE becomes extremely slow!
Ok. It isn't a smart idea import to much useless things but it's so useful for learning a new library!
Any help?
PS: I use Ubuntu with Eclipse Galileo.
i have learning reports in access and i don't understand the difference between these two concepts. i understand that the control source is the column? but then what is the row source?
My friend has convinced me to start learning some C++, so my question is simple: where can I find some good tutorials for it?
But please don't link me to the usual dry boring tutorials that only tells you the function syntax, I need more thorough explanations. I get sidetracked very easily, and I need tutorials that are more on a human level, that I'll not only learn from, but enjoy reading as well.
So I'd appreciate any links that would help :)
I'm learning C# and I've made a recursive insert-method for a linked list:
public static int recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref MyLinkedList list) {
if (list == null)
return new MyLinkedList(value, null);
else {
list.next = recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref list.next);
return list;
}
}
How would you modify this method to make the recursive call look like this:
recursiveInsert(value, ref list.next)
instead of:
list.next = recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref list.next);
I am new to design and learning the design principles.
It says deriving square from rectangle is a classic example of violation of Liskov's Substitution Principle.
If that's the case, what should be the correct design?
I am trying to learn a lot more about the Google Maps API in Android. I have seen the boston tutorials , which are very helpful in learning a lot of things related to android . But unfortunately , the tutorial talks about a earlier version on Google Maps API.
I was wondering if there are any other sites which the experts would recommend(other than the reference on actual developers.google.com website).
PS: specifically looking for android with latest version of google maps .References other than the one of developers.google.com
Please give me some suggestions regarding a project topic in the TLA+ language. I'm taking a course on the language, it's the first year I'm learning about specification and verification and I have no clue what to choose to implement in two weeks time. Any ideas?
my issue is i need to wait 3-4 seconds after a button has been pressed before i can check for it, here is my code under button1_click:
While Not File.Exists(LastCap)
Application.DoEvents()
MsgBox("testtestetstets")
End While
PictureBox1.Load(LastCap)
I think i'm doing something really simple wrong, i'm not the best at VB as i'm just learning so any explaining would be great!

Hi everyone, I'm reading O'reilly's Learning iPhone Programming and on page 79 it says I have to create a new file (UIViewController subclass) and thick the checkbox to ask Xcode to generate an associated NIB file. The problem is: I do not have this option in my XCode 3.1 (this options is from XCode 3.2). So, I have to do it manually, and I don't know how. Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance!

I'm learning Ruby on Rails.
I'm using some associations (has_many :through, ...)
But i'm having some problems with it when i'm combining my views.
How exactly do i combine these nested forms? Can i do this with partial forms and where do i have to write extra code for this? I have seen examples only use the "view" and others also edit the controller....
An example would be very nice :-)
