• Get products to display on custom Magento page

  How can you get products to display on a custom Magento page? Naturally, this is not an uncommon question but nothing that I've seen has solved it for me. The common response is to put the following code in through the CMS editor: {{block type="catalog/product_list" name="home.catalog.product.list" alias="products_homepage” template=”catalog/product/list.phtml”}} Which just displays the message "There are no products matching the selection." on my page. Other websites advise reindexing the data through the Magento admin controls, clearing the Magento cache, and making sure products are set to a store, none of which helped in my case. Anyone have any ideas?

• Porting C++-code from Windows to Unix: systemcalls colliding with name of functions

  Hi I'm porting some crufty C++ Windows-code to Linux, which uses functions called "open" and "close" inside every class... Very bad style, or? Luckily that wasn't a problem in windows, since their systemcalls are named different. When I try to call the systemcalls open() or close() I'm getting some compiler error about "no matching function for call for class:open()". I can't rename all our functions named "class::open" and "class::close" in the whole code, and I have to use open() and close() since I'm working with serial ports. So my question is: How can I tell the compiler, which open I mean? How can I escape or hide the namespace of a class in C++?

• Is this bad style of programming(C#) ?

  Hi, so in my program I have parts where I use try catch blocks like this try { DirectoryInfo dirInfo = new DirectoryInfo(someString); //I don't know if that directory exists //I don't know if that string is valid path string... it could be anything //Some operations here } catch(Exception iDontCareWhyItFailed) { //Didn't work? great... we will say: somethings wrong, try again/next one } Of course I probably could do checks to see if the string is valid path (regex), then I would check if directory exists, then I could catch various exceptions to see why my routine failed and give more info... But in my program it's not really necessary. Now I just really need to know if this is acceptable, and what would a pro say/think about that. Thanks a lot for attention.

  I have a MySQL table containing data on product features: feature_id feature_product_id feature_finder_id feature_text feature_status_yn 1 1 1 Webcam y 2 1 1 Speakers y 3 1 1 Bluray n I want to write a MySQL query that allows me to search for all products that have a 'y' feature_status_yn value for a given feature_product_id and return the feature_product_id. The aim is to use this as a search tool to allow me to filter results to product IDs only matching the requested feature set. A query of SELECT feature_id FROM product_features WHERE feature_finder_id = '1' AND feature_status_yn = 'y' will return all of the features of a given product. But how can I select all products (feature_product_id) that have a 'y' value when they are on separate lines? Multiple queries might be one way to do it, but I'm wondering whether there's a more elegant solution based purely in SQL.

Not creating the class I think I am? Not passing it the type I think I am?

• Could someone give me their two cents on this optimization strategy

  Background: I am writing a matching script in python that will match records of a transaction in one database to names of customers in another database. The complexity is that names are not unique and can be represented multiple different ways from transaction to transaction. Rather than doing multiple queries on the database (which is pretty slow) would it be faster to get all of the records where the last name (which in this case we will say never changes) is "Smith" and then have all of those records loaded into memory as you go though each looking for matches for a specific "John Smith" using various data points. Would this be faster, is it feasible in python, and if so does anyone have any recommendations for how to do it?

• Better data-structure design

  Currently in my application I have a single table that is giving me a bit of trouble. The issue at hand is I have a value object that is mapped to this table. When the data is returned to me as an array of value objects, I have to then loop through this array and begin my recursion by matching the ParentID to parent ObjectID's. The column ParentID is either null (acts a parent) or it holds the value of an ObjectID. I know there has to be a better way to create this data structure so that I do not have to do recursive loops to match ParentID's with their ObjectID's. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. • Python If Statement Defaults to an elif

  Not sure why my code is defaulting to this elif. But it's never getting to the else statement. Even going as far as throwing index out of bound errors in the last elif. Please disregard my non use of regex. It wasn't allowed for this homework assignment. The problem is the last elif before the else statement.   The IIS URL Rewrite Module ships with 3 built-in functions: * ToLower - returns the input string converted to lower case. * UrlEncode - returns the input string converted to URL-encoded format. This function can be used if the substitution URL in rewrite rule contains special characters (for example non-ASCII or URI-unsafe characters). * UrlDecode - decodes the URL-encoded input string. This function can be used to decode a condition input before matching it against a pattern. The functions can be invoked by using the following syntax: {function_name:any_string} The question is: can this list be extended by introducing a Replace function that's available for changing values within a rewrite rule action or condition? Another way to frame the question: is there any way to do a global replace on a URL coming in using this module? It seems that you're limited to using regular expressions and back-references to construct strings, without a search/replace functionality to replace every X with Y in {REQUEST_URI} before issuing a redirect.

• C++: Template functor cannot deduce reference type

  I've got a functor f, which takes a function func and a parameter t of the same type as func. I cannot pass g to f because of compilation error (no matching function for call to f(int&, void (&)(int&)) ). If g would take non-reference parameter g(int s), compilation finishes. • Setting up Matcher for String phrase match in file

  Having trouble figuring out how to match a phrase string to a phrase in file stream. The file I'm dealing with contains random words such as: 3 little pigs built houses and 1 little pig went to the market etc. for many lines Using "little pig" as my pattern and matcher.find() I can locate 2 matches: "little pig" and "little pigs". However, I only want it to match "little pig". What can I do? I thought about using matcher.lookingAt() but I wouldn't know how to set a proper region when I can't rely on the file string phrases I'm matching being on separate lines.

• In Visual Studio 2008, how can I make control+click do a "Go To Definition"?

  I know this is not strictly about programming, but it's pretty close. Anyway, in Delphi, you can hold control and click on a method to jump to its definition. In VS2008, you have to right-click and select "Go To Definition". I use this function quite often, so I'd really like to get VS to behave like delphi in this regard - its so much quicker to ctrl+click. I don't think there's a way to get this working in base VS2008 - am I wrong? Or maybe there's a plugin I could use? Edit: Click then F12 does work - but isn't really a good solution for me.. It's still way slower than ctrl+click. I might try AutoHotkey, since I'm already running it for something else. Edit: AutoHotkey worked for me. • Universal App won't build for device

  I'm trying to get an iPad/iPhone app to run on my iPad. (it builds and runs fine on the simulator) I went through the menu to create a new universal project. Then I added another library that my app will use (route-me), and i keep getting the following linker errors: "___restore_vfp_d8_d15_regs", referenced from: and "___save_vfp_d8_d15_regs", referenced from: I did a search on Google, and found (http://www.badrit.com/blog/2010/6/6/building-route-me-for-ipad) that it's just a matter of matching up project settings in the library projects. I did that but it didn't help. I still keep getting these linker errors. Anyone have any ideas what I can try?

• Unexpected htaccess behaviour (mod_rewrite and apache)

  Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

• Using jQuery to auto-populate a form field from another form field

  Has anyone used jquery to take data from one form field and put it into another? I'm trying to create a form that when one text input is filled out a second is auto-populated with the first letter of the word that is in the first text input. I'm thinking I can limit the second text input to one character to help get the desired result, but I'm not having luck getting jquery to get the second text input and auto-populate once the first is entered. • Errors in Decimal Calcs within def clean method?

  I'm attempting a few simple calculations in a def clean method following validation (basically spitting out a euro conversion of retrieved uk product price on the fly). I keep getting a TypeError. Full error reads: Cannot convert {'product': , 'invoice': , 'order_discount': Decimal("0.00"), 'order_price': {...}, 'order_adjust': None, 'order_value': None, 'DELETE': False, 'id': 92, 'quantity': 8} to Decimal so I guess django is passing through the entire cleaned_data form to Decimal method.   I'm working on a Django site with a basic three column design. Left column navigation, center column content and right column URL specific content blocks. My question is about the best method of controlling the URL specific content blocks in the right column. I am thinking of something along the lines of the Flatpages app that will make the content available to the template context if the URL matches a pre-determined pattern (perhaps regex?). Does anyone know if such an app already exists? If not, I am looking for some advice about the best way to implement it. Particularly in relation to the matching of patterns to the current URL. Is there any good way to re-use parts of the Django URL dispatcher for this use?

While searching a text inside a Listbox if that matching string found in anywhere in the list it should show in Green color with Bold. eg. • OutputPath ignored on projects being build by TFS 2010

  I have installed TFS2010 Beta 2 with default settings and configured a CI build with a solution containing the indivial projects. My *.cspoj files could have: <OutputPath>bin\debug\</OutputPath> Or alternatively: <OutDir>bin\debug\</OutDir> When the build server is done building and running tests etc. all the assemblies are placed in the root of the build drop off folder. How do I configure the build to keep the outputpath or outdir in my projects and store the assemblies and content in the matching folder structure( builddropfolder\bin\debug\ )? I have found a number of post on this most of them relates to TFS 2008 but I have not found solutions for TFS 2010. Perhaps it is possible to solve this in the new workflow file for the buildserver?

  Here is the code that I currently have: SELECT `A`.* FROM `A` LEFT JOIN `B` ON `A`.`A_id` = `B`.`value_1` WHERE `B`.`value_2` IS NULL AND `B`.`userid` IS NULL ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 2 What it currently is supposed to do is select 2 rows from A when the 2 rows A_id being selected are not in value_1 or value_2 in B. And the rows in B are specific to individual users with userid. What I need to do is make it also so that also checks if there are already N rows in B matching a A_id (either in value_1, or value_2) and userid, and if there are more than N rows, it doesn't select the A row.

After every match the temp table is updated which holds the id of players that played the last match and the points they earned. Next run a procedure that will match the pid from temp table with every uid of user-player table having the same pid. add the points from temp table to the count of user table for every matching uid. empty temp table. My questions is considering 200 players and 10000 users,Will this method be efficient? I am going to be using mysql for this.

  Hi, as I need to get a specific Frame from a Website I want to display in an WebView, I decided to grab the .html from the net and save it under file:///data/data//files/file.html. Stroed there I can edit it using regex or String methods. Now two questions: Is there a way to bind this file to an resource. e.g. to /res/raw/file.html and get it updated dynamically as i edit it? Or can i write the File directly to the resources? Is this whole stuff I do there any good or performant at all? I mean maybe there is a better way to get the .html code between two tags from a Webpage and display it via WebView. Kind regards Markus

  I have a ClassA containing an ArrayList of another ClassB I can save a new instance of ClassA with ClassB instances also saved using JDO. However, When I retrieve the instance of Class A, I try to do like the below: ClassA instance = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager().GetObjectByID( someid ); instance.GetClassBArrayList().add( new ClassB(...) ); I get an Exception like the below: Uncaught exception from servlet com.google.appengine.api.datastore.DatastoreNeedIndexException: no matching index found..
