  • Chrome : type in textboxes instead of selecting them

    Hi guys, not sure what is happening but quite often i go to highlight/doubleclick text in a textbox in Google's Chrome browser, and somehow the textbox itself gets selected. I have to redo my selection so it selects the text inside... It is hard to explain but is it possible that whenever I have a textbox selected, when I type, the text I type goes in the box (instead of nowhere)? It seems like a rather uh, silly/stupid question, but it would save me time and make my browsing more efficient. I can work a mouse and type just as well as anyone else, Chrome is the only browser I have trouble in where it likes to select the textboxes instead of the text inside the textboxes. I love Chrome.

    I have a String class and I want to overload + to add two String* pointers. something like this doesn't work: String* operator+(String* s1, String* s2); Is there any way to avoid passing by reference. Consider this example: String* s1 = new String("Hello"); String* s2 = new String("World"); String* s3 = s1 + s2; I need this kind of addition to work. Please suggest.

  • How to find "\r" in a conditional?

    Hi, in a C++ program some string reads info from file, and in some part contains a "\r" character. I need to remove it, afte the read, in order to avoid problems. I thought about comparing strings character to character, I thought that "\r" would take two chars, but not, it is just one. how would i use a conditional ? if char[4]==`\r' ??? Thanks P.D.     Does select_related work for GenericRelation relations, or is there a reasonable alternative? At the moment Django's doing individual sql calls for each item in my queryset, and I'd like to avoid that using something like select_related. class Claim(models.Model): proof = generic.GenericRelation(Proof) class Proof(models.Model): content_type = models.ForeignKey(ContentType) object_id = models.PositiveIntegerField() content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey('content_type', 'object_id') I'm selecting a bunch of Claims, and I'd like the related Proofs to be pulled in instead of queried individually.

  • How do you do the offsite hard drive backups?

    I have been doing hard drive backups for a while, which I believe a lot of you guys do as well, but am having trouble figuring out a better way storing them offsite. I am wondering how you guys out there do that. Any policy or tips & tricks when it comes to offsite store your backups, mainly hard drives not tapes. Thanks in advance. [update] Thanks for mentioning the online backup. We are actually in the middle of this process. And I 100% agree that it's the ultimate way to go. However, considering the cost, sometimes it may not be the option, as it's a quite expensive option if you also consider the application level. I guess online backup can be a very good one in the separate topic. :)

  • Is it possible to host a website with Apache HTTP through a ZyXEL EQ-660R modem and a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router?

    Essentially, I have a spare desktop computer I'd like to turn into a web server, but my modem and wireless router are very difficult to work with. I installed Apache HTTP and successfully hosted a test page which can be accessed anywhere on the LAN. However, I'm having trouble setting up the server to be accessed from my external IP address. I was supplied with a ZyXEL EQ-660R DSL modem by my ISP (CenturyLink) and bought a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router in which to connect my laptop and spare desktop. ZyXEL's website is no help, and I don't think much of the problem is with the Netgear router. I've played with many settings and have tried to forward port 80 from the modem, but I've had no luck. Could someone direct me toward a solution or recommendations for more promising hardware? Or should I admit defeat and explore other hobbies? :)

  • Bridging two networks

    I'm hoping you may be able to offer some advice as I'm not very familiar with setting up routers/access points. I have a network of computers on an active directory domain on the 192.NET. I then have another network on the 10.NET that needs to have access to the domain on the 192.NET. I am using cisco/linksys routers. What methodology would you suggest so that these two can communicate and I can add the computers form the 10.NET to the domain?   • Truecrypt on Linux (permission confusion)

    I am pretty inexperienced with Linux... So please bare with me here. I keep running into permission problems when working with truecrypt on Linux. Currently, I run truecrypt as root to mount my encrypted devices and containers. This all works fine, but I have to interact with the mounted volumes in the terminal as root, and I can't seem to use many of my applications on the files... Either because they can't be run as root or I don't know how to use them from the terminal. This seems really inconvenient to me. How do people deal with this? Am I missing something, or is this just the way things have to be? I am on Fedora 17 (KDE spin) now but I have this trouble with any distro I try.

  • how can I get around no arrays as class constants in php?

    I have a class with a static method. There is an array to check that a string argument passed is a member of a set. But, with the static method, I can't reference the class property in an uninstantiated class, nor can I have an array as a class constant. I suppose I could hard code the array in the static method, but then if I need to change it, I'd have to remember to change it in two places. I'd like to avoid this.
