  • What are the common patterns in web programming?

    I have been trying to write my first big web app (more than one cgi file) and as I kept moving forward with the rough prototype, paralelly trying to predict more tasks, this is the todo that got accumulated (In no particular order). * Validations and input sanitizations * Object versioning (to avoid edit conflicts. I dont want hard locks) * Exception handling * memcache * xss and injection protections * javascript * html * ACLs * phonetics in search, match and find duplicates (for form validation) * Ajaxify!!! (I have snipped off the project specific items.) I know that each todo will be quite tied up to its project and technologies used. What I am wondering though, is if there is a pattern in your todo items as well as the sequence in which you experienced guys have come across them.

    Back when I was at school, I remember tinkering with a Mac game where you programmed little robots in a sort of pseudo-assembler language which could then battle each other. They could move themselves around the arena, look for opponents in different directions, and fire some sort of weapon. Pretty basic stuff, but I remember it quite fondly, even if I can't remember the name. Are there any good modern day equivalents?

  • asp.net dynamic HTML form

    Hi, I want to create an html page inside a asp.net page using c# and then request that html page. The flow is, I'll be creating a request that will give me a response with some values. Those values will be stored in hidden fields in the html page I'm creating on the fly and then requesting. I figure it would be something like below but I'm not sure if it would work, I've also received some "Thread Aborting" errors. So, does anyone know the proper way to do this or at least direct me to a nice article or something? The build script looks like this: CMAKE_MINIMUM_REQUIRED(VERSION 2.6) PROJECT(globaltest) ADD_LIBRARY(base STATIC base.cpp) ADD_LIBRARY(library MODULE library.cpp) TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES(library base) ADD_EXECUTABLE(client client.cpp) TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES(client base dl) analyzing the created makefiles I found that cmake builds the client with g++ -Wall -g -ldl -rdynamic client.cpp libbase.a -o client This ends up in a slightly different but fatal behavior: The global_test of the client and the dynamically loaded library are the same but will be destroyed two times at the end of the program. Am I using cmake in a wrong way? Is it possible that the client and the dynamically loaded library use the same global_test but without this double destruction problem?

But I can't even to conjecture what kind of project to do. Recently I had some ideas about C. With C I could to contribute to huge Linux projects. I don't mean that my work will be surely commited. I could get the code and practice with it. But C it's not right thing to get good job in my area. In case of JavaSE there is a chance to develop some desktop applications. But thinking about JavaEE I get stuck. I'll be very thankful for answers.

  • Rails 3 remote resubmit form with dynamic fields

    I have a form which has remote => true. When i submit it the first time everything works well. If there are any errors i want to add new fields to this form. I did this with update.js.erb. The problem is that when i resubmit this form, the result js file is rendered as html (ie i see the js file text on the screen). This is the same update.js.erb file that was rendered as js the first time... Any idea what i'm missing?

Each class has remotely callable methods and a dispatch method with two possible input, a string identifying the method or an integer which would be the index of the method in a table. A mapping of the string to the corresponding integer would be implemented by a map. The caller would send the string on the first call and get back the integer with the response so that it simply has to send the integer on subsequent calls. It is just a small optimization. The integer may be assigned dynamically on demand by the server object. The server class may be derived from another class with overridden virtual methods. What could be a simple and general way to define the method binding and the dispatch method ?

    Hi, all. I am using django.forms.Form to validate form data in a survey applications. In a survey-creating form, a user can submit multiple questions that belong to the survey being created. Names for the question inputs are in the form of 'question_seq' , where seq is maintained using Javascript. Back in the server side, my code doesn't know before hand how many such questions will be submitted. Is there any way to do this with Django form so that the form can automatically recognizes the questions and validate them?

Socket socket = new Socket(hostname, port); PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(socket.getOutputStream(), true); //DataInputStream is = new DataInputStream(socket.getInputStream()); out.println("hi"); System.out.print(in.readLine()); The Server Socket program is written in .Net and it echoes back the data. The data is sent successfully but could not be retrieved properly. I tried the same by using the linux command nc 192.168.1.6 8425 (enter) Hi (Sent data) Hi (recieved data) When I checked the code the data is found to have sent as byteStream in .Net. Is that a problem. In that case what modification should I make.

Is it possible to build an app for iPad that uses a function to control which interface layout is displayed? Something like "if these parameters are met, use XIB file "a" else use XIB file "b". Now i created a function to fetch the list from a mysql table. $.get('get_zorgvormen.php', function(data) { var zvmlist = '{'+data+'}'; //alert(zvmlist); }); when i enable the alert function it shows me the var(array).
