  • Serialized form fields in Ruby on Rails problem

    - by Violet
    I'm having a problem making serialized columns in my model persist correctly in forms. If my model validation fails I want to redisplay the "new" page with all my model data still in the forms. Right now, everything except the serialized fields seem to persist (if my Order fails to purchase, on the "new" page the email is still filled in but the shipping address fields are not). Is this a Rails bug or am I doing something wrong? My model: class Order < ActiveRecord::Base serialize :shipping_address end My controller: def new @order = Order.new end def create @order = Order.new params[:order] if @order.purchase then render :action => "success" else render :action => "new" end end My view, new.html.haml: = form_for @order do |f| - if @order.errors.any? #errorExplanation %p The following errors occurred: %ul - for msg in @order.errors.full_messages %li= msg %h2 Billing Information = f.label :email = f.text_field :email %h2 Shipping Address = f.fields_for :shipping_address do |b| %p.field.address = b.label :address1 = b.text_field :address1 %p= f.submit "Place Order"

  • Batch file: Extracting substring from input parameter to use in IF statement

    - by Neomoon
    This is a very basic example of what I am trying to implement in a more complex batch file. I would like to extract a substring from an input parameter (%1) and branch based on if the substring was found or not. @echo off SETLOCAL enableextensions enabledelayedexpansion SET _testvariable=%1 SET _testvariable=%_testvariable:~4,3% ECHO %_testvariable% IF %_testvariable%=act CALL :SOME IF NOT %_testvariable%=act CALL :ACTION :SOME ECHO Substring found GOTO :END :ACTION ECHO Substring not found GOTO :END ENDLOCAL :END This is what my ouput looks like: C:\>test someaction act =act was unexpected at this time. If possible I would like to turn this in to a IF/ELSE statement and evaluate directly from %1. However I have not had success with either.

  • RESTful membership

    - by FoxDemon
    I am currentlly trying to design a RESTful MembershipsController. The controller action update is used only for promoting, banning, approving,... members. To invoke the update action the URL must contain a Parameter called type with the appropriate value. I am not too sure if that is really RESTful design. Should I rather introduce sepearate actions for promoting,... members? class MembershipsController < ApplicationController def update @membership= Membership.find params[:id] if Membership.aasm_events.keys.include?(params[:type].to_sym) #[:ban, :promote,...] @membership.send("#{params[:type]}!") render :partial => 'update_membership' end end end

  • MVC Application Design

    - by Paul Brown
    Hello I am about to create my first proper application in ASP.NET MVC3. It is basically a jobs site with 3 levels: 1) Users - No registration and can view all jobs posted on the website 2) Posters - Need to register and login to post adverts 3) Admin - Need to register and login to post adverts and review postings before they go live Would you suggest I use the same Jobs controller for the three levels I mention above? With a LIST action to show jobs to "Users" and a CREATE & EDIT action for the "Posters" & "Admin"? Thanks Paul

  • CakePHP and jQuery - Unobtrusive actions

    - by fortysixandtwo
    I'm trying to make an unobtrusive action for deleting bookmarks in CakePHP. Allthough it's working just fine, I suspect there must be a better way to do this. Could someone please point me in the right direction? function delete($id = null) { $ok = $this->Bookmark->delete($id); if($this->RequestHandler->isAjax()) { $this->autoRender = false; $this->autoLayout = false; $response = array('status' => 0, 'message' => 'Could not delete bookmark'); if($ok) { $response = array('status' => 1, 'message' => 'Bookmark deleted'); } $this->header('Content-Type: application/json'); echo json_encode($response); exit(); } // Request isn't AJAX, redirect. $this->redirect(array('action' => 'index')); }

  • Annoying struts 2 problem

    - by Parhs
    Hello... I am using this code to include some menus to my code... <s:action namespace="/" name="get_header" executeResult="true" /> <jsp:include page="/get_menu" > <jsp:param name="menuKey" value="configuration"></jsp:param> <jsp:param name="subMenuKey" value="user.add"></jsp:param> </jsp:include> THe problem is that the menus are generated dynamically... So suppose that we have 2 Actions ActionA and get_menu Action The jsp page for the result of ActionA calls get_menu to generate the menus. So suppose that ActionA sets a variable groups and get_menu also uses a groups variable... ActionA's variable will overtake get_menu's variable. I tried many solutions and even jsp:inculde doesnt help:(...

  • Preserve data in .net mvc

    - by Wei Ma
    I am implementing a search module with result page support paging. The example provided by NerdDinner passes pagenumber as a parameter for the Index action, and the action uses the pagenumber to perform a query each time the user hit a different page number. My problem is that my search take many more criteria such as price, material, model number etc. than just simple pagenumber. Therefore, I would like to preserve the criteria after users' first submission, so that I only have to pass the pagenumber back and forth. Using ViewData is not possible because ViewData get cleared once it is sent to the View. Is there any good way to preserve the criteria data as I wish?

  • Admin section in CakePHP

    - by Nicklas Ansman
    I'm having a hard time understanding how the CakePHP admin system works. Should all controllers who has an action which requires login include AuthComponent or just the one who handles the login/logout? Let's say I want to protect the add action of a controller. First I create admin_add() in the controller and then in the beforeFilter() method I check if $this->Session->check('Auth.User') is set a redirect based on this? Turns out it was better to just controll this with $this->Auth->allow() What is the easiest way to return to the URL the user was trying to access? Is there a better way than setting a session variable? Turns out it does this automagically :) If someone has a good tutorial for this I would happily read it :) I've already read this tutorial but I found it to be a little to basic and the CakePHP-docs are not that great on this topic either.

  • WPF Dispatcher {"The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it."}

    - by user359446
    first I need to say that I´m noob with WPF and C#. Application: Create Mandelbrot Image (GUI) My disptacher works perfektly this this case: private void progressBarRefresh(){ while ((con.Progress) < 99) { progressBar1.Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Send, new Action(delegate { progressBar1.Value = con.Progress; } )); } } I get the Message (Title) when tring to do this with the below code: bmp = BitmapSource.Create(width, height, 96, 96, pf, null, rawImage, stride); this.Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Send, new Action(delegate { img.Source = bmp; ViewBox.Child = img; //vllt am schluss } )); I will try to explain how my program works. I created a new Thread (because GUI dont response) for the calculation of the pixels and the colors. In this Thread(Mehtod) I´m using the Dispatcher to Refresh my Image in the ViewBox after the calculations are ready. When I´m dont put the calculation in a seperate Thread then I can refresh or build my Image.

  • Separate functionality depending on Role in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Andrew Bullock
    I'm looking for an elegant pattern to solve this problem: I have several user roles in my system, and for many of my controller actions, I need to deal with slightly different data. For example, take /Users/Edit/1 This allows a Moderator to edit a users email address, but Administrators to edit a user's email address and password. I'd like a design for separating the two different bits of action code for the GET and the POST. Solutions I've come up with so far are: Switch inside each method, however this doesn't really help when i want different model arguments on the POST :( Custom controller factory which chooses a UsersController_ForModerators and UsersController_ForAdmins instead of just UsersController from the controller name and current user role Custom action invoker which choose the Edit_ForModerators method in a similar way to above Have an IUsersController and register a different implementation of it in my IoC container as a named instance based on Role Build an implementation of the controller at runtime using Castle DynamicProxy and manipulate the methods to those from role-based implementations Im preferring the named IoC instance route atm as it means all my urls/routing will work seamlessly. Ideas? Suggestions?

  • Huge amount of time sending data with suds and proxy

    - by Roman
    Hi everyone, I have the following code to send data through a proxy using suds: import suds t = suds.transport.http.HttpTransport() proxy = urllib2.ProxyHandler({'http': 'http://192.168.3.217:3128'}) opener = urllib2.build_opener(proxy) t.urlopener = opener ws = suds.client.Client('http://xxxxxxx/web.asmx?WSDL', transport=t) req = ws.factory.create('ActionRequest.request') req.SerialNumber = 'asdf' req.HostName = 'hola' res = ws.service.ActionRequest(req) I don't know why, but it can be sending data above 2 or 3 minutes, or even more and it raises a "Gateway timeout" exception sometimes. If I don't use the proxy, the amount of time used is above 2 seconds or less. Here is the SOAP reply: (ActionResponse){ Id = None Action = "Action.None" Objects = "" } The proxy is running right with other requests through urllib2, or using normal web browsers like firefox. Does anyone have any idea what's happening here with suds? Thanks a lot in advance!!!

  • alt-tab sort of web design

    - by sureshgl
    I am thinking of designing a web site having multiple related services. For every action of the user in a service there will be some computation going on in each of the other services. I want to display the service in action (chosen by the user) in the middle of the page in enlarged mode and rest of the services as small sized (shrunk) versions around the enlarged mode. The services which are shown in the shrunk version, should actually show what is happening in that service, at run time as if that was the chosen service. A close match to this sort of behavior I know is in Reliance BigTV, where all the small images of all the channels will be going on, and we can choose the one that we want to watch. After choosing that one image will become big and occupy the screen. Please, let me know if I can do some thing like this using css, html, ajax & php.

  • Rearranging parts of the URL result from link_to in Rails

    - by mathee
    This is how I'm doing it now: link_to "Profile", :controller => "profiles", :action => "asked", :id => @profile # => <a href="/profiles/asked/1">Profile</a> Does it make more sense for the URL to be <a href="/profiles/1/asked">Profile</a>? Profile 1 asked some number of questions, so it makes more sense to me for the URL to look like: /:controller/:id/:action. If you agree, how do I accomplish this? If you don't agree, please let me know why. (I'm new to Ruby on Rails, so I'm still getting used to MVC conventions.) Any advice would be great!

  • Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

    - by Brett Pontarelli
    Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist. Basically, the isDispatchable is always false. public function run() { $front = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $request = $front->getRequest(); $dispatcher = $front->getDispatcher(); //$controller = $dispatcher->getControllerClass($request); if (!$dispatcher->isDispatchable($request)) { $route = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ':action/*', array('controller' => 'index') ); $router = $front->getRouter(); $router->addRoute('FallBack', $route); } $front->dispatch(); }

  • How to pass special characters so ASP.NET MVC can handle correctly query string data?

    - by labilbe
    Hello, I am using a route like this one: routes.MapRoute("Invoice-New-NewCustomer", "Invoice/New/Customer/New/{*name}", new { controller = "Customer", action = "NewInvoice" }, new { name = @"[^\.]*" }); There is an action which handles this route: public ActionResult NewInvoice(string name) { AddClientSideValidation(); CustomerViewData viewData = GetNewViewData(); viewData.InvoiceId = "0"; viewData.Customer.Name = name; return View("New", viewData); } When I call return RedirectToAction("NewInvoice", "Customer", new {name}); and name is equal to "The C# Guy", the "name" parameter is truncated to "The C". So my question is : What is the best way to handle this kind of special character with ASP.NET MVC? Thanks!

  • Can I create a UITableViewController that inherits from a custom subclass of UIViewController?

    - by prendio2
    I have common functionality that I need to access from all screens of my app: a right bar button item and associated action. So as not to repeat the code I would like to set this up in a custom UIViewController and have all my view controllers inherit from it. - (void)viewDidLoad { UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemPlay target:self action:@selector(lightsCamera)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBarButton; } - (void)lightsCamera { … } However, I have a number of UITableViewControllers however and I would like to know if it is possible for them to inherit the functionality too?

  • how to pass in dynamic data to decorators

    - by steve
    Hi, I am trying to write a base crud controller class that does the following: class BaseCrudController: model = "" field_validation = {} template_dir = "" @expose(self.template_dir) def new(self, *args, **kwargs) .... @validate(self.field_validation, error_handler=new) @expose() def post(self, *args, **kwargs): ... My intent is to have my controllers extend this base class, set the model, field_validation, and template locations, and am ready to go. Unfortunately, decorators (to my understanding), are interpreted when the function is defined. Hence it won't have access to instance's value. Is there a way to pass in dynamic data or values from the sub class? If not, I guess I could use override_template as a workaround to expose and set the template within the controller action. How would I go about validating the form within the controller action? Thanks, Steve

  • JSF 2.1 Spring 3.0 Integration

    I'm trying to make very simple Spring 3 + JSF2.1 integration according to examples I googled in the web. So here is my code: My HTML submitted to actionController.actionSubmitted() method: <h:form> <h:message for="textPanel" style="color:red;" /> <h:panelGrid columns="3" rows="5" id="textPanel"> //all my bean prperties mapped to HTML code. </h:panelGrid> <h:commandButton value="Submit" action="#{actionController.actionSubmitted}" /> </h:form> now the Action Controller itself: @ManagedBean(name="actionController") @SessionScoped public class ActionController implements Serializable{ @ManagedProperty(value="#{user}") User user; @ManagedProperty(value="#{mailService}") MailService mailService; public void setMailService(MailService mailService) { this.mailService = mailService; } public void setUser(User user) { this.user = user; } private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public ActionController() {} public String actionSubmitted(){ System.out.println(user.getEmail()); mailService.sendUserMail(user); return "success"; } } Now my bean Spring: public interface MailService { void sendUserMail(User user); } public class MailServiceImpl implements MailService{ @Override public void sendUserMail(User user) { System.out.println("Mail to "+user.getEmail()+" sent." ); } } This is my web.xml <listener> <listener-class> org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener </listener-class> </listener> <listener> <listener-class> org.springframework.web.context.request.RequestContextListener </listener-class> </listener> <!-- Welcome page --> <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>index.xhtml</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> <!-- JSF mapping --> <servlet> <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> my applicationContext.xml <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd"> <bean id="mailService" class="com.vanilla.jsf.services.MailServiceImpl"> </bean> </beans> my faces-config.xml is the following: <application> <el-resolver> org.springframework.web.jsf.el.SpringBeanFacesELResolver </el-resolver> <message-bundle> com.vanilla.jsf.validators.MyMessages </message-bundle> </application> <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>actionController</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.vanilla.jsf.controllers.ActionController</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope> <managed-property> <property-name>mailService</property-name> <value>#{mailService}</value> </managed-property> </managed-bean> <navigation-rule> <from-view-id>index.xhtml</from-view-id> <navigation-case> <from-action>#{actionController.actionSubmitted}</from-action> <from-outcome>success</from-outcome> <to-view-id>submitted.xhtml</to-view-id> <redirect /> </navigation-case> </navigation-rule> My Problem is that I'm getting NullPointerExeption because my mailService Spring bean is null. public String actionSubmitted(){ System.out.println(user.getEmail()); //mailService is null Getting NullPointerException mailService.sendUserMail(user); return "success"; }
